The chances of McGregor beating Mayweather are very slim. The best defensive boxer in history vs someone who just started practicing true boxing a couple of months ago. McGregor has a great left, fantastic fighting instinct and is naturally talented as a boxer, but Mayweather is 50-0 for a reason.

That being said, anything can happen in a fight. McGregor is a lot younger and stronger than Mayweather, plus Mayweather hasn't been practicing as much during his retirement. McGregor can catch him with a lucky punch due to his unpredictable style. Mayweather is not a very strong boxer, so he is unlikely to knock out McGregor since his knockout percentage is fairly low and McGregor has above average tolerance for taking hits, being an MMA fighter and all.

If McGregor can stand the 12 rounds without getting winded, he has a very small change of catching Mayweather with a lucky punch. Otherwise, Mayweather will make him look like a fool by dancing around him the entire time. The scorecard would look ridiculous.
