This is the real reason for the outrage over Uber.

The gig economy is not a solution to restrictive access to Taxi ownership. It creates even bigger problems. Uber consolidates control from thousands of individual corrupt local governments to one central corrupt corporation.

Once fully established all Uber need do is buy out the existing competition and then lobby for laws which effectively lock out any new competition being established and they now own the entire Taxi game, near enough globally.
