So I've been considering doing this again. Despite all the pain and disappointment I have faced in trying to create a modded Skyrim that can truly be considered good, and despite failing every single fucking time, I am considering this shit once again.
My main process for setting up a modded Skyrim has been to do the entirety of STEP. That said though, I don't know if that is the best way.
The people STEP claim that the setup ensures that it will work with ANY mods you add on top. This of course is very quickly contradicted by the fact several of the mods that are used in STEP give us options for extra files depending on whether we have certain mods installed (like Falskaar, RS Children, Perkis Maximus, etc).
This is why you're failing. Things like that and tesgeneral.com might have decent recommendations but you get a lot of useless shit if you just do everything. Think of what kind of playthrough you want to do and then find mods that fit with it. Or just mod it into a depraved waifu sex simulator like everyone else. Or both.
Seriously skyrim is probably the best sex game out now because it can cater to most of your /d/ tier fetishes

Just install porn that adheres to your fetish. Everything else is pointless save for shit that makes the game look graphically better. Having modded both Oblivion and Skyrim (admittedly much more for oblivion) for years I can confirm that you truly can't polish a turd. At least not the the extent that the engine allows you to. You still have the shitty AI, the horrible map design and the horrible gameplay that's flawed from the ground up to the point where not even mods can do it true justice. Pic related. I post it every time bethesda modding comes in to question because it's absolutely true After 30 hours of figuring shit out. The effort to actually get shit working is worth it though if you're autistic enough. Just don't expect high quality animations. The focus is for content over quality. But you can essentially do anything you want in whatever way you want which makes up for it.
If you're really desperate for gameplay though install some overhauls as they tend to improve the gameplay enough to get a few hours of enjoyment out of them. But the only thing that has kept me consistently going back is the vast amounts of porn for both games as lewd shit doesn't require much depth.
You forgot your Todd image.

mods can enhance a game but they inherently lack coordination or direction so any attempt to fix a broken game with large amounts of disparate mods is futile

I've been trying to get rapelot to work, but every time I try to get into a sex scene, shit glitches up or some jazz, and it refuses to play. Everything up until that point works. Animation shit just won't play. It's killing me.
Though In both games you can essentially be fucked by every creature/being in the game without mods specifically catered to a specific one.
Google Enya faggot.

Oh thanks i'll spend the rest of my morning flipping through her entire collection because of a webm i saw on an imageboard

is skyrim really not good for anything other than sex mods? surely there's something that makes adventuring across the land fun SURELY
Owen Wood
Frostfall with some mods that make the game super difficult can make the early/mid game reasonably entertaining (at least if you're a "muh gwafix/immershun" fag like me)
Nicholas Mitchell
not really, the combat's weightless and all weapons feel exactly the same. Maps are dull and uninspired, scaling enemies means no real sense of progression, and the story makes no sense even taken alone
Lucas Ortiz
i still don't get how people never bothered to make the game fun for adventuring even with shit combat, it's still a decent modding engine why is there no don quixote questline/world, or a gothic overhaul or something so many missed opportunities that could have at least made you ignore how shit the combat was
Colton Richardson
You're welcome.

All the beast mods seem to be getting fucked by animals and not fucking them.

So decent the community needs to create and implement a script extender just to get 95% of the mods to work. Not to mention the game has its own script engine that is entirely different from other games. There's dozens of games out there that are incredibly easier to mod for but aren't because of the giant attraction to the Elder Scrolls games from normalfags. The majority reason the game has such a giant modding community is simply because it has such a large casual audience.
In any case the reason that there aren't to many giant overhauls for these games is simply because it's so fucking frustrating to deal with. I've spent 2 years trying to figure shit out with Oblivion to marginal avail. If you thought installing mods was a pain in the ass just try getting the simplest shit to work. I'de rather just make my own game at this point if there wasn't such a giant amount of people who for some reason put up with the engine because "Bethesda".
I'm sure Skyrim is probably more Dynamic in that regard but Bestiality in the sense where you fuck the animals is a pretty niche fetish as far as the community goes so I can't really say I'm surprised.
The closest you'll probably get is MonsterGirl. As many of the monsters in that mod are inherently female. I recommend you back your files up though because the mod itself overwrites a lot of shit. I learned that the hard way. Also the person who made it has a gore fetish who also uses way to much content from other mods. Also also it's discontinued because the dev advocated loli and got banned because the LoversLab admins are cucks so it's probably not worth the effort.

So… can I make some questions about the new Vault DLC? The only thing good from Fallout 4 now is the autobutcher and I was wondering if I can feed my settlers human flesh.
Nicholas Jones
I can not for the life of me figure out how anyone can seriously recommend this. This is fucking awful, and it takes far longer to install as well. None of these combat mods do anything to really make the combat harder. Timed block makes Skyrim's turtling problem ten times worse by letting you get a free kill for blocking an incredibly slow attack. The only challenge increase I ever got out of this setup were the changes OBIS and ASIS made, aka fighting lots of enemies. The only combat mod where I've ever gotten a sense that the mod author knew a little bit about what he was doing is Combat Evolved. Of course, he doesn't really address the problem of too easy defensive play, he just puts the shoe on the other foot by making enemies turtle all day (the enemies working together in a group is nice, though).
Holy shit, never again. I'm just going to wait until Requiem has Dragonborn support.
"But muh inability to add 200 mods not made for each other!" Requiem's all in one package is one of the reasons I like it. Easier to install, and the changes work much better together because they were all designed around each other. Modularity on mods is overrated.
Justin Torres
Is there a compiled list for all the lewd Skyrim mods like what user linked to here for Oblivion?
Tyler Foster

Asher Williams
You actually fell for that? Personally just get guns and shoot things down for lulz.
James Butler
Funny part is that I knew better because I've been in this situation before. I foolishly convinced myself that is was only like that before because I just didn't have the right combat mod or that I just needed to download this little tweak, but no, downloading a lot of different mods made by different people with different visions in mind is not how you go about fixing Skyrim. I may as well just fling shit against the wall.
Requiem is the closest thing I've found for fixing Skyrim, but it still has problems (invisible entities? What the fuck is this shit?) and can't fix things like lack of factions, boring npcs, boring quests, shitty dungeons, lack of puzzles, crappy voice acting, uninteresting cities, story so bad that even my non-storyfag self feels turned off by it, and a myriad of other issues.
But, yeah, mods will not fix it.

Post anyway. If some dwarf and orc avatarfags would be triggered, so what?
Liam Scott
Combat only becomes more fun if you stop trying to directly improve the combat engine. It's impossible due to the shitty hardcoded ways Skyrim handles input and event handling. Instead, try to install mods that indirectly affect general tactics. Increased enemy spawn size, more followers, NPC tweaks that affect battle behavior based on equipped weapons and spells, etc. If you're doing it right then the focus of your attention in combat should naturally become more generalized, where you identify and anticipate strong and weak fronts as the situation changes, and position you and your allies accordingly. The actual mechanics and controls of sword-swinging, blocking, casting, etc, should become secondary, and is best left as simple as possible because it's irreparable shit to begin with.
Brody Murphy
Your call.
Camden Howard
Since he's a faggot I'm posting my chocolate elf. Any good mods I should install?
Brandon Morales
So a shittier mount and blade, with shittier and simpler combat.

thank you for not being a faggot.

Nope. None. There is not a single good mod for Skyrim.

It's more that I'm actually still developing the character. Which means around 5-6 hours of effort and I'm only about 3 or so in.

Are there any corruption mods?
John Morris
In Player Slave Encounters when your Willpower stat reaches 1 you essentially give up. It's about a mindbreak/corruption as it gets. Dunno about skyrim. I only started modding is a w few weeks ago.
Oh there's also cursed armor. Which does something similar but good luck getting it to run.
Jason Price
The only fun I had was turning it into a semi hunting simulator. Made a huntress with a pet sabercat and ran around hunting shit with a bow then butchering its meat and bones then setting up a camp and cooking that shit, sometimes going back to town to sell excess meat and animal parts before fucking the shopkeep then running back out into the wild to do it again. Full on sex game is just about the only way to make it good or failing that, using skyrim.jp or one of the borrus to save you the huge fucking effort. Its no lie when people say modding skyrim is more enjoyable then playing it.
Dylan Ward
I have a very good suggestion for you good sir.
Benjamin Harris
Consider this as well
Ian Ramirez
There's this perfectlymodded.weebly.com/, it's supposed to have a huge number of mods working flawlessly. It also made a lot of mods butthurt since it combines mods without asking them permission to or some shit.
Cameron Adams
I'll never understand why modders want such recognition for their work. If the content is good you'll naturally become recognized. Shit I'm sure if I released my shit I'de get a few people commending me.

When I do repacks I put links in the overall readme giving them credit for it. I don't have the time to waste getting permission that is better spent play testing.

There are issues that come with modpacks using other's mods, though usually it's mostly "it's my mod so I get to say who can use it for what". First, the author will get people complaining about bugs in the mod specifically with the modpack, which clutters out legitimate issues that other people might be having and reporting. Since the issues can very likely be the error of the person who built the pack, there's no real way the author can personally do anything about it. Second, if a modpack fails to credit the mods it implements, it prevents those resources from being easily found by those who wish to use them. Third, if the modpack is from a shady character, it may come with some things that the mod author doesn't want to be associated with.
Blake Sanchez
I think if you're stupid enough to install a modpack you deserve what you get considering how most modpacks just make things worse. It's much easier to keep track of your shit by just downloading the mods individually and packing them yourself. Hell it's not even modpacks. Often it's just people who are to actually try making mods work with other modders work.
Case in point I often download poorly optimized mods for Oblivion because I've pretty much downloaded every mod there is and often I end up having to shift through code and meshes in order to get it to work functionally. If that shit was in a modpack or another modder decided to use the content in that poorly made mod, then that mods problems would drag on to the new mod as well.
As example I downloaded a Cursed Armor mod that worked ok (relatively for most Oblivion ero mods) for a bit but then the fucker decided to include Chain Beast which is known for being one of the most buggy sex mods out there. It ended up sending me to my desktop every time I went anywhere near it so I tried and failed to fix it for 2 weeks.
Basically modders are usually morons because they can't into code and 60% of the time they never get around to fixing the problems. Then retards who fail to bug test that mods assets and include the shit in to their otherwise solid content which ends up being ruined by the reused assets. Meanwhile the forums constantly mention that it's broken but the original creator never gets around to it.
Justin King
My point wasn't that it sucks for the people that installed the packs. It's that those people's complaints would hinder the mod author from receiving reports of issues from people who installed the individual mod instead of a pack. The more popular the modpack gets, the more of a problem it is. Getting a dozen complaints about a modpack specific issue for every report of an issue with the solo mod really makes bug fixes more difficult.
Isaac James
op is that sky a mod?
Ayden Myers

Is anybody decent in Nifscope? I'm trying to remove the cross earring but it's a part of a single entity. Am I going to have to go in to Blender to deal with this shit? I'm still new with meshes.
Anthony Campbell
You are the dad who worked at Nintendo during the 90's lol. Also, I'm pretty sure you can't just import and export meshes from blender to skyrim and vice versa but there's some pretty good guides out there if you look long enough. I just don't have em on hand anymore.
Jeremiah Thomas
I wish. The cross just clips with hair to much and the texture looks ugly. Also it's only on one ear and looks lopsided. Basically I'm autistic
But I'm shit with stuff like this so I guess I'll just have to settle with it. What's worse is that the Race I use has a tattoo on their forehead that won't go away even if you edit the dds texture files because it's indented in to the heads mesh. It's bullshit.
Brody Jackson
Yeah, from what I remember from my short stint with Skyrim modding is that you can't really edit the characters themselves but you can however modify what goes on top of your character via custom armor. Take for instance pic related which is actually a several pieces of armor (like an edited wooden mask) placed on top of the character to make a new character. You could always go that route.
Then again, take this with a grain of salt as this is all from back when Skyrim was still relatively new and there might actually be better ways around this nowadays.
I'm just too lazy and shit at modding to give you any concrete answers.
Jayden Martinez

Alexander Turner
I only modded Skyrim for a few weeks, after which I gave up on account of it being a very boring game, but i'm positive you can get custom head and body meshes into it just like Oblivion.
Are you autistic or something. what is your problem with that cross. not christian
Christopher Gonzalez
I just said. It clips with hair and I think it looks better without it. I'm also playing a slavery mod and it wouldn't make sense for my character to be allowed to keep jewelry on them.
Jeremiah Green
Late night bump so the thread will last the night.
