It's like Phantasy Star featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series, except all the difficulty got nerfed so there's no reason to show off your skills unless you really want to get to the latest content. I suppose if you just want to play through the game once, then yes, it's definitely worth it. PSO2 is very, very, VERY solo friendly. It's like a single player game where a few random fuckers pop into your game to say hi once in a while and then leave. It honestly might be better that way, since there is so much voiced NPC dialogue to go through and it's be kind of weird for the rest of the party to wait for you/clear the entire fucking dungeon while you're talking to NPCs in dungeons. There are raids and events and whatnot, and you can probably do fine if you put in a tiny bit of effort to learn which chat macro means what. Or you can just hop onto one of the ships that got taken over by English speakers who act like they own the place and forgot that they are guests.

As a game, it's a solid 8/10 that might get boring sooner rather than later. As an MMO, it's up to you to decide.

Sound pretty fun, I think I will try it. I hope you can still play with peoples, it's fun to play with other most of the time.

Story at this point is fuckhuge too. If you wanna watch every cut-scene including optional you'll be spending around 40-50 hours on story alone.

Having an elaborate combat system and almost no challenging foes to use it on is a waste though. There are end-game "Ultimate" quests, but not only enemies are aggressive and do a lot of damage there, but are also damage sponges, so you'll need either a lot of people or some high-tier gear to play them comfortably.

Selling point of the game is of course visual character customization. PSO2 has the largest collection of costumes and accessories of all unmodded games ever. I think even sims fall short in this regards. I think there was a dedicated toho cosplay team with pretty convincing depictions.

Every event/promotion has a costume, everyone needs to be able to display every single possible costume for every character variant so that shit adds up.

Sega whores out PSO2 pretty badly. I think they have some KFC styled costumes out there somewhere. Gotta make money somehow, this game is Free to pay after all.

One thing that is somewhat hard to fix is fucked up Mag, when you get it don't feed it shit right away. Almost all of episode 4 is untraslated but you need to go through some chapters of it to unlock episodes 1-3.

Yes. Decide what type of character you want to play (melee, ranged, tech) and feed your mag accordingly. Ideally, your mag should be 200 points into your chosen attack type and with zero points into the other stats.

I don't think that's fair to say. Nothing's stopping you from running FI/BR and spamming limit break if you wanted more difficulty.

Additionally, for newer players (who are plentiful now because of the PS4 release) the game is still plenty hard. If you ever pugged something like Magetsu on SH and failed runs you should know what I mean. Pic related is how it feels.

what is up with these "new-type" weapons? they are some kind of new default weapons? what is the difference?

NT weapons are just the same weapons as before, except with a few significant differences.

1) They can be grinded by feeding them other weapons.

2) They can be element up'd by feeding them weapons, in a way similar to OT except it doesn't take synthesizers.

3) They can be grinded to +35 by feeding them multiple copies of the same weapon. (note: this has to be NT)

They're really pushing this NT stuff and to be frank, they're really good to grind and use since +damage and grinding them has a 100% chance to succeed AND you only need a couple of lambdas if you do it right.

Yes, normal weapons still drop, mainly because some weapons still do not have NT versions, but 80% of your weapon drops will be NT from now on.

On a side note, you can't use NT weapons to element grind OT weapons and vice versa, even if they're the same name.

NT weapons with the "-NT" suffix have replaced their old-style counterparts, for the most part, and all new 13* weapons will be NT weapons, if the current trend continues. You can still find the old-style weapons in PSO2es, though, but, well… it's PSO2es.

Old-style weapons for 7* on up still drop in the main game, though.

You can modify things like most facial features and hairstyle, but heavier things like limbs and colour need a salon pass to change.

Salon passes are given out every once in a while for free. That, or buy it with real money.

A fair amount of customization is free. Size modifiers and hair color require a Makeover Pass, which gets handed out as part of a login bonus every now and then, or you can get one by burning 500 yencoins. You'll need a color pass to change your body colors, though, which you can only get by recycling either AC Scratch items or a regular bird suit, both of which can be bought from the player shops.

I personally prefer the latter, though. Remember, you're doing the world a service by removing bird suits from the server.

There is a huge difference with color tone curve disabled but it feel it's better when enabled.

I prefer color curve too, even if it fucks up some areas overall its an improvement, also removes "fog". Edge lighting is pure shit though, also terrain lighting s both GPU-heavy and makes some areas ugly while improving others so it's up to preference.

Also I removed Edge lighting after a few test it's not that visible but result is shit.
Terrain lighting is not that bad for the area I am now.

Was talking about color curve, everything is a bit grayish without it. It also looks even better with good display and full RGB range.

I hate color curve because it adds a shitton of contrast and saturation.
But that's probably because I got used to game's natural color scheme.

The game is fun so far, I have tested Ranger and Braver, I like the bow a lot. I don't really know what class to choose, any advices and builds for someone who want to play a range combat class ?

Weak Bullet on RA and the skills on BR that increase damage to weak points and type weaknesses synergize well IIRC.

RaGu is not viable which is bullshit.
Range combat is suffering because Ranger has only one weapon type that is exclusive to it and Gunner has one weapon type that is exclusive to it. Te and Fo at least have tons of spells to spice things up and makes up for their low weapon exclusivity count.

Gu is a close ranged class, that just happens to use R-atk stat for damage.

Ranger or gunner. Bow braver might be too difficult for new players. You can change your class whenever you want so you could just try all classes. Just don't feed your mag yet.

I would recommend doing all the training quests. They'll give you a small taste of all the classes.

That's an excellent idea user, I didn't think about it.

It depends on the situation. Rangers, gunners and bravers are all good for dps. Bow bravers (Br/Ra and Br/Gu) are mainly for nuking bosses and might not be suitable to fight every boss unless you are really skilled with banishing arrow combos.

I would suggest you going Ra/Hu or Gu/Ra.

I havent played for awhile, and when I attempted to update today, the tweaker deleted itself.

I reinstalled the tweaker and downloaded the english patch, but nothing is translated when i load up the game.

You used to have to open the pso2 updater and change the language settings to english to see english text. There was a dropdown menu.

Here's what the 2nd default female innerwear looks like when you make that metal onepiece default basewear invisible via a mod, as requested.

Now you have to download and install the english patches. There are 3 in total, accessible by the dropdown menu which you can get by clicking the big round circle.

Additionally, due to gameguard fuckery the tweaker now renames itself every time you boot up the game so it can't be detected as an exe. To get it to rename back to an exe when you're done playing, close the currently running GN field when the game is closed.

The one you can't show to anybody unless you mod the game? I don't think you can.
Everything else, i.e. things that other players are supposed to be able to see, is recolorable, one way or the other.
You either can change color with ticked or get version with different coloring as separate item.
That includes underwear and swimsuits of course.

I'm trying to make a boxer/muay thai character, does anyone know off hand of some good outfits for that?

I tried a force class, and it felt like nothing was better than the basic fireball, which tore apart swarms of things. Wind attacks were terrible, and all the AoE techs centered around your character were the worst. Are people really shitty about letting you on teams if you're not using the "approved" builds?

There was an update a while ago with some martial artist themed layered wear as well as some knuckle protectors. Mite b cool.

Every single tech (except for lightning ones IMO - exception, Zondeel) have their uses. The main issue with playing FO is that you have to get a weapon for each element you plan to use as well as exclusively use elements that the enemy is weak to in order to get the most out of the class.

I was looking through the player shops, and it looked they had swim trunks too, which could work for a kickboxer, if they have hand and foot wraps.

Yeah some weapons are terribly boring compared to others.
Daggers, knuckles and machineguns are top tier.
Katanas, dual blades and jet boots are ok mostly to their good movement options, but not very exciting in combat.
Everything else is slow boring piece of shit.
Special prize goes to launcher for being manifestation of anti-fun.

Hand wraps are a thing, yep.

You'll want the bestest fire knuckles camo, but they cost TOO MUCH. Most other camos are too bulky.

The deal with Fo is that getting the weapons is the only issue while other classes always have something to depend upon: Melee gotta melee, so they waste time traveling which makes them much weaker for certain tasks and with Fi you'll want more than one weapon as TDs can't mob at all and Knuckles suck against air, R-Atk classes often need Weak Bullet and Ra, the only class that can have it available at all times, has the worst defense in the game, Te is support/leech, Su is mistake and with Fo you don't have anything like that if you simply have the weapons.

Fun in not only using the weapon itself but achieving results with it. Hu weapons are generally inferior to Fi weapons damage-wise but you can do comparable damage and act fast if you try which is sort of a challenge. DS got buffed but they require wind up time literally…, with that you can outdamage other Fi weapons but, again, gotta be good with it. Katan movement gets boring quite fast as well as hurrdurr BrHu combat, but switch to FiBr and you get more options due to TAJA as well as damage and top floorhugger title challenge. Rifle PAs are fucking slow and Ra has almost no i-frames, you also get more damage if you don't move so Ra requires a bit of thinking and positioning as well as good dive roll dodges. BBow has BA which is both a boon and a curse, also BBow main PA has certain distance where it ticks twice against the same target, so lotsa positioning and some planning. Lawnchair is shit, alright, I'm trying to use it but……….

You can do "ok" but not sure if you will be able to equip many weapons.

A dex mag can still work if you're willing to go full gimmick, since BR has a skill that changes dex on your mag to atk instead.

You can count on one hand the number of weapons any particular class will be unable to equip for going Dex over an attack stat on the Mag. And none of those weapons are must-haves or "required".

Getting np1013 gameguard errors minutes after connecting via the tweaker, every time. Only alternative is to use a completely unpatched JP client that checks the entire installation every time I launch it.

Uh….hate to break it to you, but if your "unpatched" JP launcher is doing an entire file check every time you activate it, you do NOT have an unpatched JP launcher. The official launcher only checks the first 4 or so files and skips the rest.

I downloaded the update this morning, then updated the English patches, but now the story seems to be less translated than before. I know the items are fucked, because there's a note about that, but I was actually enjoying the story.

Sell me on this game. Does it play like a WoW-clone like every other fucking MMO or does the combat have some merit to it?

The combat plays like an ARPG, except done in an over-the-shoulder view. Kind of like a musou-hybrid with a dash of DMC currazy style attacks.

It's fun enough to play however you want, but the long and short of it is that when you reach endgame you have to build your character tailored towards pure DPS and nothing else. The process of gearing and levelling a character is a long one as well, so get an idea of exactly what you want out of the game before really committing to anything. I'm sure someone else in the thread that has been playing recently can give you specifics on any questions you might have.

Is there a better way to find a party for quests ? Can't I just search for a specific quest but without having to search for every difficulties every time ? And between the greyed out parties, the "The ability to join has been limited by the quest" and the other messages like that, it's extremly annoying to simply join one. And a lot of the time, when I do, they just kick me. Also, now the Quest Counter menu closes every time I get a message, it gets pretty frustrating.

Move to your block of choice looking for the difficulty you are looking for. You will find many unfriendly players around, specially JPs. and as far I know b1 is the most english friendly block, despite all the cancer.
If an EQ is coming up better move to super hard or hard or whatever block of choice. There's chance you will find open advanced quests in advanced quest block. Same with XQ block. And so on

I just spent 4 hours on this QT. If you don't feel like spending money on the game and still feel like supporting SEGA for some reason I can recommend this particular model.

Yeah, you can get Redria and Yellowboze from AmiAmi, but I don't recommend the older kits like Eleanor because they're very obviously prototypes and are quite stiff and fragile.

I use guilty Break - Sacrifice bite - Then air combo into either Nova Strike (Charge it first then release it with a second jump)
((Can probably be substituted with Rising Edge)), or Over end if the main target isn't moving much.

But what I do know is SB buffs your speed/damage for a short period of time, which is why I'm often using it to combo into things with FIs Air Combo thing.

Seems to work best with overend

Guilty Break -> Sacrificial bite -> Overend.

Nova Strike/Rising Edge seem to be solid damage, I use the prior because it seems to be better for mobbing than overend/doesn't seem to be much less damage than Rising Edge/if less at all.

While there are turbojews those 2 items are quite cheap and it's normal for costume to be cheaper than accessory. The deal is you can swap costume between your chars but you need one hat for each character, also you can wear multiple accessories and some might look good with that or another costume while with costume you either like it or you don't.

It's a good thing client orders are so lucrative then. I really want that damn hat.

On a totally unrelated note, did I pick easy mode by going ranger? Weak Bullet is letting me take down bosses welll above my level in a matter of seconds without me really worrying about any kind of synergy between my main and sub class.

Ra is not easy mode, the game is too easy on early difficulties. What's good with Ra is that you're independent from lack of weakpoints and damage is good, sometimes too good, what's bad is that you lack mobility and you have the worst dodge frames in the game.
Good way to make dosh is to hoard 4/5+ slot units with atk3, 6+ slot units, units with toh'oh/bayari/mizer/apprentice/other useful soul, emperor rappy weapon, then get a shop pass from fun scratch and get more dosh than you make with client orders.

Leveling is actually really easy. Do your featured quests for bonus quest keys and participate in emergency quests. These should be enough to bring you to XH difficulty without grinding much.

If you feel like you are about to burn out, just visit b1 for some exciting conversations.

Quick guide to getting the Hiel starter units, grinding, mag feeding excubes and so on, anyone got one?

Hiel?

Hiel units are a good starter unit set for newbies that can be used most of the trip from 1-75 due to the set bonus that provides a chunk of PP.

A set with some basic affixes can be gotten for free if you do the EP3 matterboard, but I'm not sure you can skip right to EP3 now.

Otherwise, you can probably get a set from doing bonus quests with the keys you get from doing featured quests.

Huh? Nobody taught me anything until I got to endgame, where I asked for advice about advanced affixing and in-depth damage calculations. Like weapon with right build and potential can be better at 8* than random garbage at 12*.
Game is pretty self-explanatory for as long as you have menus translated, you don't have to need a degree to understand basics.

The "right build" and "right potential" are not things that a newbie just starting out would know.

Also, the game is just chock full of cluttered information about half-assed things they put into the game like PA crafting and grind -> NT grinding. Newbies these days have a lot more to learn than they did during your time.

Also, don't forget about mags. Fucking up a mag hurts and I've seen it one too many times happen at this point.

There are things that you can fuck up early on, that's true. You probably should have some instant guides ready to throw at new people, if you're set on helping them I guess.

I just started playing last week and my problem is that the game is so easy thus far that I have no idea if I do something wrong since nothing pose a challenge on normal or hard. I also think I've fucked up my hunter skill tree since I put 10 points in fury crits:^)

Game is really easy until you get to SH.

It's even easier as a HU due to automate and/or iron will, but if you don't take either you might as well take fury crit to max your deeps.

10 points in fury critical is fine if you plan to switch to Fi/Hu instead of sticking with Hu main all the time.
