Name one thing you like about a game you hate.
I like hunting, especially the sharks and the tigers.

The weapon modding system is neat, I guess.
But Far Cry 3 is good.
I wish joining Vaas would have been possible.
Did they steal that from a mod too?
I don't think OP was implying that Far Cry 3 is bad, just that they hate it.
No they had that shit in New Vegas with the Ammo Benches, they still stole the idea though.
It's an overly simple game where most of the cool shit you do is a single button press and all of the AI is retarded. It's Asscreed with guns.
Game sucks dicks, but euphoria was great.
Killing all those blacks was fun I guess
pagan min was extremely likable and 95% well-written. the only things he said or did that really pissed me off were the cookie-cutter "look at how crazy and mad with power this guy is!!!!!!!!!" supervillain nonsense radio calls
The customization might have been good? I really can't think of anything.
With mods it's pretty good, and it's still a game where people clearly cared and put the effort in, even if the result was a mess. Too bad the AI can't be fixed though, you're right.
It was an interesting concept, could have been really fun without the 24/7 zombie hordes
the game was decent from what I played of it, but goddamn those constant respawns ruined it real hard
Far Cry 3 and even Far Cry 4 are games with wasted potential. The only good ending is one where you join the "villain"
I can name exactly on one hand all the things I like about F4; how the power armor works(they gave it to you way too early), the weapon modification system, melee bash with firearms, peaking from cover in first person and how armor is seperate sections instead of just being a suit.
The rest is crap.
It eventually ends.
I think Far Cry 3 did the FPS cover lean first, actually.
It let to a lot of samus abuse porn
I know, I'm just saying given the mess Fallout 4 is, these additions were actually good.
Oh look another type of unpopular opinion thread. Why can't you go home reddit?
...
The Mastadon Greatsword might just be my favorite vidya weapon. The moveset and speed is exactly how I want it.
Cmon now .
It's pretty obvious you don't want to hear anything bad about a game you like.
The graphics are good, especially the buildings (not so much character faces), and the PCSS shadows look sick. It's also okay to fuck around in. Only reason I yarhar'd this game was to test out my graphics card. It's somewhat enjoyable but I fucking hate how they feel the need to incorporate cliches from other games like a retardedly easy dumbed down Batman combat system, and also being able to tag enemies and see them through walls. There's probably more. I suppose I don't HATE the game, but I'd never pay for it.
I just want reddit to leave. You all need to take your shit threads back with you.
The music and art is all great. I wish the gameplay wasn't so repetitive and boredom-inducing.
Keep holding back the tears, fag.
...
some of the bosses are really interesting
Walking simulators can be better than a movie
Fallout 3 ,NV, 4 have great gore and all npcs speak instead of some shitty wall of text poping in your face
Retardyofduty has a lot of guns
Boringlands has bossfights, even if they are shit like the game, its a good thing
Ass Creed has decent graphics
Ass creed was always shit like that, the Batman games combat got even worse too, Knight is a fucking one button game, fucking trash
The flight system, controls and UI is amazing
Too bad there's nothing in the game that makes you want to play it.
I can't stand a majority of turn-based games simply due to how it always plays out like a DVD menu. If a game doesn't give me full control, I simply cannot enjoy it.
That being said, turn based vidya has some of the best content, visuals, and all around gameplay outside of the core product. But mainly the visuals. I can't think of a single genre with filled with more beautiful looking games.
The side modes in the coop/sp (Black Ops) were good fun.
what do you think of fairy fencer and/or hyperdimension?
is this board populated with 12 year olds now?
While not many people liked the game being way too aware of it's paper setting there are fun visual elements to be had with it. The combat system may be unrewarding and largely too restrictive but there are instances where it actually is fun such as dealing with the sombrero guys. Stickers were fun to have the environment decorated with and ready to collect.
Never played fairy fencer. And I can't stand hyperdimension. Feels like the senran kagura formula was applied to turn based shit. Which would be a good thing, except I still lack control. Hence why I enjoy Senran.
Yes, and im doing my part in removing underage.
I like how power armor was used as in being a vehicle, like how the games say power armor is. I don't like how its given so early and that full fusion cores just drain so quickly in it.
And even the fusion cores could have been fixed just by adding different styles, with "untapped fusion core" lasting the longest and "Nearly Drained" lasting about half as long as the current fusion cores. and make a spectrum.
I don't even like Souls games but goddamn they have some nice fapbait.
Okay well fuck you guys too.
Yeah, it's a middling game that becomes fairly decent with mods.
Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is garbage.
Morrigan was the only thing good about the game
...
At least the animals are sexy
fusion cores do have battery sizes, the game just doesn't display it properly
Go home reddit. You don't belong here. Go back to your wife and her bull.

It showed the world how much a shitty writer the SJW Amber Scott really is and paved the way for her to be purged from the game dev that was employing her self-righteous, wannabe Nrrd Grrl ass.
Amber, if you are reading this then go play some real RPGs. Play them over and over again. Do it so much that people make fun of you for it. Do it so much that they make fun of you so much that sometimes it makes you feel like killing yourself. Don't give up, ever. Keep going. Do this for 10-20 years, learn how to actually write fantasy fiction RPG characters, and then MAAAAYYYBBBEEEE you will be qualified to help out with writing for some fan-made mods or, if you extremely lucky, possibly a DLC pack for an indie RPG game.
Fucking retard thought she could fool everybody in the world and shove her disgusting Grrl Pwwer propaganda in everybody's faces and get away with it. We aren't that stupid, Amber, but you apparently are.
and no, I didn't pay for this piece of shit, was even thinking about getting the collector's edition for $130, dodged a bullet thanks to you shitlords on Holla Forums
I wish it was only one writer causing this type of problem…
...
Why give you options to reply at all if they are all the exact same thing?
It's literally strawman comics in RPG form.
It's just shit with vomit inside it
Why else would one become a video game writer? Someone has to produce modern, progressive 'art'. It's fucking 2016 after all!
don't really have an issue, it's how the character is written
oh come the FUCK on. I knew there was something wrong with those fucking games. Making shadowrun beyond the one for SNES was an utter fucking mistake. Remember when RPGs allowed you to PLAY A FUCKING ROLE THAT YOU WANTED? EVEN BETHESDA KNOWS BETTER, FUCK ME.
Here we go.
A: cyberpunk is a bleak envisioning of the future. A bleak envisioning of the future would mean tons of race mixing among other things
B: cyberpunk also incorporates races from traditional fantasy shit
Understandu?
Have we memed this into existance?
No, they really like that argument, "it's %currentyear why isn't everything exactly the way I want it to be?"
They genuinely believe that's a logical argument for everything.
When one is delusional enough to think that your own desired world is the inevitable end goal of progress such arguments are logical. As with most things like this it's a case of working out your argument from your desired conclusion but believing you've done it the other way around.
Traditional Cyberpunk doesn't do that. Shadowrun is an entirely different beast.
No the game was absolute shit. The only good thing about it was vaas and that was only for half the game after that it just became a chore to complete just to kill generic villain #1223. Although I will admit that faggot mercenary was a nice touch.
Honestly, I quite liked FC3. 4 was dogshit, but 3 had a great atmosphere to it, and wasn't half bad as long as you set difficulty to max. It's best modded with all story-gated perk and weapon restrictions removed/all attachments available/have to buy weapons.
Second island was shit though, they should have just stayed with Vaas as the primary villain throughout the entire thing.
The thing is Vaas was an accident. He was just your typical checkbox first-half villain that accidentally had a lot of personality due to good casting. Marketing picked up on that and pushed it hard but it was a complete fluke.
Holy shit, thanks for reminding me of this. Was trying to think of another instance.
True, the atmosphere was quite good too, as was the exploration. Hated the generic Ubi-tower stuff though.
I didn't like the second island either.
Shadowrun is still one of the founding fathers of it. Although it may be a subgenre, it's still very traditional. Cyberpunk has evolved being the traditional into shit like Deus Ex: HR and Babylon: AD, therefore Shadowrun would be seen as a pure, traditional form of it.
The survival guide entries were also great, and added nicely to the atmosphere. Most of them were darkly comedic, and then every now and then you run into things like the entry for seagulls.
I never said that made him bad I'm just saying he was never going to be the primary villain because he was only ever there to tick the box of 'first half bad-guy you kill to feel powerful'. All credit for the character rising above that goes to the actor.
You missed the point of his post about Vaas so hard that it almost looped around to hitting it.
You goddamned filthy fucking retarded mongoloid piece of shit. Do you have the faintest idea what you're talking about? Or are you just le ebin trolling?
Traditional cyberpunk is Bethke, Gibson, and Sterling. Traditional cyberpunk was emerging when Blade Runner aired, before home consoles were even imaginable - and in fact the original incarnations of Shadowrun were fucking tabletop games in '89. Gibson, THE father of cyberpunk (Neuromancer, Burning Chrome), even talked shit about Shadowrun.
Shadowrun is at the furthest corner of the bell curve. Marc Laidlaw's "400 Boys" is still more traditionally cyberpunk than fucking Shadowrun. Cyberpunk is purely about high-tech, low-life, realistic, gritty places/people/events. There's a reason that tech is so fleshed out and well-described, it was the cynical 80s vision of the world in 2010 and beyond. Shit, a bunch of tech that Gibson predicted has even become real, despite his admissions that he doesn't know anything about computers.
Fuck, I misread that nicely. I stand corrected, you're right.
Fair enough. On a related note the same actor is in Better Call Saul and I honestly didn't realise for over a season. In hindsight I must be fucking retarded because he even looks the same (minus the hair anyway).
Considering I've dedicated the past 14 years of my life to it and am in the middle of writing a tribute to it, I'd certainly like to think so.
that's pretty much specifically what I was referring to. Tabletop is what made it big and expanded it to interactive media.
I know who he is, thank you.
He's a god in my eyes but ultimately I don't give a damn what he likes and doesn't like. That's his problem.
Shadowrun is exactly that, though. Outside of the fantasy races, it's almost exactly as he envisions it, if Shadowrun (1993) is anything to go by.
I admire your autism but ultimately you've just made an unncessary tirade about cyberpunk. Shadowrun does almost all of that shit, except
That's it.
I had the same realization a few episodes into season 2, blew my fucking mind. Only reason I caught on was that I wanted to test a decent-looking mod that I'd found, and had to replay the intro.
After I made that realization I looked him up on youtube and found some of the gag videos he did with ubisoft, there are some decent ones. Embed related.
Oh fuck which Shadowrun is that from?
The Shadowrun returns series. It's generic isometric trash.
It's nice to know it isn't just me that was so fucking blind at least.
Obviously 2007 user. Really though it's from the new indieshit games.
Mechwarrior Online is dogshit, but they hired best artist to make the concepts.
unfortunately their modeler is also dogshit so in game they're ugly and way out of scale.
actually think they did steal it from a Vegas mod
It's upsetting that he's only known as "that guy from FC3." Hopefully he gets bigger and isn't typecasted. I have yet to see him do anything beyond Vaas-type stuff but he seems like an exceptional actor regardless.
Good post. But Gibson's books themselves are pretty basic shit. Like first dragonquest in rpg genre, its the first proper cyberpunk in literature. His early works on which shadowrun was based wasn't good at all, starting from neuromancer his first trilogy featured illogical and unrealistic representation of the "matrix", and his works themselves contained ocult stuff that were inspirations for shadowrun.
Like for example Artificial Intellegent being demons, ai that dumps copies of people's consciousness acting like a fucking necromancer, and so on. In some ways even original digital devil monogatari was also loosely based on gibson works.
I remember retarded part when some bitch broken a leg inside of the internet, which was completely retarded. The only thing he did right is imagining japan full of smelly gaijins lurking in night city, immigration and diversity propaganda were kinda obvious in his times. But everything concerning computers or internet - is shit in his books.
It's not even their modeler, the mechs are out of scale due to a deep rooted Cryengine issue they can't fix because too much shit is heaped on top of it and they bought the console version of the engine to save money.
Go back to

and pretend with the rest of those homos that trenchcoats don't make you a fucking tool.
Honestly, that's almost exactly how I envisioned Molly but Case just looks too generic and healthy. Idk. Kind of thought him as some dude who wears a trenchcoat with anything but long hair. He looks out of place.
The hell are you on about? The whole "pillars of light" and whatnot seemed like an interesting and original take on the internet. You gotta explain a bit here, user.
I know it's from those, but which one, Dragonfall? Hong Kong?
I honestly couldn't tell you user. I gave up fairly early on in Returns and can't remember much even of that experience (the image I posted was not mine originally). Three seconds in google tells me that character is in both Returns and Dragonfall but not Hong Kong.
I think it's safe to say that it doesn't matter. The same people are behind each game so I doubt you'll get a difference in quality/writing in each one.
The DMR is a cool gun.
Fantasy races and magic. Mixed with cyberpunk. That's not cyberpunk anymore. It's science fantasy pretending to be cyberpunk. It's what you'd get if Michael Kirkbride decided to jerk off and watch Blade Runner with a bag of shrooms at hand instead of writing the 36 Sermons of Vivec. If you've been studying a tiny subgenre of 80s scifi for 14 fucking years, you should probably realize this, as well as what fucking cancer Shadowrun has brought to cyberpunk as a concept. It took the high-tech low-life and added fireballs and astral projection to it, as if cyberpunk was somehow incomplete without a way for a neckbeard to pretend to be a wizard or a dwarf in it. Shadowrun is defined purely by the addition of fantasy elements, otherwise it'd just be Cyberpunk 2020 with less outdated tech. Fuck, 2020 was even published a year earlier!
Shadowrun is no better than steampunk, all style and no fucking substance - unless, you know, you want to use metahuman racism to push a literal IT'S 2054 GUYS political point in the shitty unbalanced unoptimized kikestarted "RPG" (and I use that term loosely, because you will find no roleplaying) that was shat out by the unshaven cash-waving masses of reddit and RPG.net.
If you haven't caught on to ANY of this, I'd suggest grabbing a needlegun and vacating your trisomal grey matter onto your monitor.
Well fug I actually bought both Returns and Dragonfall but I've barely touched them. At least now I know to stay away from Dragonfall.
probably why they're something like double size overscale, to deal with precision errors from the map size. god damn that's lazy ghetto shit.
even ignoring that they're lumpy, their artists have a bad grasp on aesthetic proportions.
Basic, yes, but foundational, just like Blade Runner established the visual. And the supernatural elements were subtle, something Shadowrun lacks utterly in favor of "lol magic is real gaise".
Personally, I'd call Burning Chrome's stories more foundational than Neuromancer, but maybe that's just me.
Nope. I know what you're talking about, it was in Neuromancer. Case was jacked into Molly as if it was a live stimsim, so he felt and sensed everything that she did. She broke her leg while operating operationally, so he felt all of the pain as well.
It's also worth noting that his Matrix representation was mostly inspired by drugs and had no grounding in reality whatsoever.
You're confused friendo, you're thinking of your home site of leddit.
Dragonfall. Hong Kong has some of the most annoying characters though, both the shaman and dwarf are utterly insufferable and I stopped playing the game entirely because of them.
Case was described as a fairly normal looking guy who wore jeans and a leather jacket. He was a hustler (and an ex-cowboy to boot), he had to blend.
**stay away from Hong Kong
I'm retarded and suck dicks
Nah son. You have yet to convince me that at least Shadowrun 1993 doesn't stay absolutely true to cyberpunk. It's unrealistic, but it's cyberpunk at it's core.
You poor fool.
I get that, but he still looks generic 80s to me. He lacks a grit to him that I envisioned in the novel. Even when he finally got fixed up, it still felt like he was supposed to look fucked up and sickly.
From what other, more forgiving, anons have said Hong Kong is somewhat of an improvement. I still wouldn't pay for it without torrenting it first (frankly I wouldn't waste my time on that) but RPGCodex is probably a good call to verify rumours like that.
Congratulations, you've highlighted everything wrong with Holla Forums these days in one short sentence.
I sure do love driving, shitty gunplay and more fucking driving.
He does, but he'll probably suffer the same fate as Elias Toufexis. I'll never hear his voice again without thinking "aw shit, it's Adam Jensen". I should have asked him about it when I met him at PAX.
Interestingly enough, he was actually cast to play Jason Brody, but Ubisoft canned him because they didn't want people to be confused about Brody vs. Jensen.
I've never played Returns, but to be honest, Dragonfall's story was actually pretty solid. There are a few moments of serious cringe (like the screencap), but most of the party characters are solid. Dietritch was brilliant, Glory would be cyberwaifu-tier if she didn't used to be a filthy degenerate, Eiger is solid. Blitz is mediocre.
The fact that the characters are decent is what makes Hong Kong's shit writing even more painful. Two of the three main characters off the bat are atrocious. The mad russian scientist seemed well-written, and the ghoul samurai was absolutely fantastic, but the shaman and decker were god-awful. I wish I had taken screencaps. I just played with a bro-team of Duncan, Gaichu, and Racter.
It was mediocre. The best thing to come out of it was the IMFDB page.
Sorry you're both huge casuals.
Enjoy your godmode amusement parks, kids.
This recent trend of claiming FC2 as some misunderstood classic is just pretentious bullshit. STALKER does everything better with the notable exception of not including an FAL in vanilla. Neither game has short-shorts yet but I live in hope.
I'm afraid that beat me to citing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Does everything FC2 did and better.
Also, Autumn Aurora 2 adds a decent FAL to the game. Still prefer the VSS, though; since it lacks the discrete armor rating/penetration of CoP any AP rounds just do fucktons of damage no matter how armored the target actually is.
Also I'm pretty sure 7.62 High Calibre had some short shorts, even though it seems to be set in South America. But hey, what's one shitty, violent, disease-ridden, third-world hellhole filled with brown people compared to the next?
Fuck, that guy is also great. Saw him do a few interviews and he seems cool as all fuck personally I think the entire team behind Human Revolution are down to earth dudes who love what they do, despite being clearly bad at it. They seem to love everything about what they do, if their jewtube channel is anything to go by. A damn shame both of them have such iconic voices, it'll be hard for them to get roles without being immediately called out.
My love for the FAL goes beyond practicality. But then every man needs a raifu.
Fucking plebs man. You don't deserve to play FC2
He is cool as fuck, he even autographed a RAID card I pulled from one of my old servers.
I enjoyed DXHR for the most part. Interestingly, it was the same thing as FC3 - as much for the ambiance and atmosphere as anything else. They really excelled in that department, I keep a save of Hengsha backed up in case I want to just walk around. The story was decently good, gameplay was a bit too casual for the most part, pushing stealth over lethal was annoying because I like going lethal.
I'm really hoping that Mankind Divided comes out well. It sounds like they've learned from some of their mistakes.
It is a good raifu in the mod. Damage is way up there and it's accurate. Actually the biggest practical issue is that ammo is even more expensive than 7.62x54r at the bar, probably because there's some stupidly good NATO sniper you can get in Wild Territory.
savescum until you find the stash that has something like 2k rounds of 7.62 NATO
I had broadly the same experience.
Sadly they're still giving XP for kills and more for non-lethal/stealth kills. They are, at least, adding more than fucking two non-lethal weapons so there's that.
I've actually yet to play AA2 but I'll look out for it. AMK is normally more my type of thing but I've had a real craving for more laid back stalking recently.
I got to experience living in a dream house that I'll never have.
I forget what the specifics were, but it was brought up and they said that lethal would be better balanced with nonlethal. I thought they were equalizing XP, but maybe not.
AA2 is great. Adds SweetFX and ENB, lots of high-res textures, a number of new models, a minimalistic interface, and is just a gorgeous experience in general, although not quite perfect. Gameplay-wise, quests are the same. A decent number of guns were added. Lots of bandits with Bizons, lots of AKMs with integrated Kobra sights dropped by military, Saiga 12 is best mutant gun of all time, a few REAL FUCKING NATO guns, and doubtless more that I haven't found. Damage seems to have been increased across the board, Agroprom above-ground played out like a fucking old-school tactical shooter.
Also, if you liked AMK and you enjoy /k/ autism, see if Zone of Alienation is usable yet. It's AMK-based. Features include better ballistics, having to reload all your mags by hand, and probably four times the number of guns versus vanilla. Used an SVD with ironsights as my battle raifu after finding two 100-round PKM boxes of low-grade x54r lying around in Rostok.
I enjoy games where it's the player against a hostile and overpowering wilderness, and it's possible to set Beyond Earth up so that it's kind of like that in the early game, which is mildly entertaining until you blast past it with tech and culture. Then it's just the same shitty gameplay as usual.
As a side note, I couldn't remember the name of BE at all so I googled "Civ 5 in space." What came up was a bunch of Civ 5 screenshots, along with pictures of… Endless Space and Spore. No Beyond Earth. What the hell Google?
...
It's got a shit ton of flaws, but the weapons sandbox is so much fun to fuck around with. I'd say 6 or 7/10.
Stop making these. God damn.
Why not talk about something good or maybe make an original thread instead of the same ones over and over?
I'll probably give it a go then.
I've tried ZoA but it crashes like a bitch all the time. Wormwood for CoP looks to be including a better attempt at the mag system so it's worth looking out for.
All pandering and less-than-truthful advertising aside, that was a perfect 90's atmosphere.
Have you even played the game?
Half of it is white afrikaaner mercenaries instead of ragtag africans militias
not helping is that they all are quite tough taking more than few bursts of assault rifle fire to kill each
Executions are nice bragging rights and are fun to look at
Especially when you're able to do a drop-down exection
i liked going back in time and stopping people getting hit with a ball or a book
If by awesome you mean a laughable overdone caricature of the 90s.
The feel of the guns is pretty incredible for a console game.
Patrol mode was like getting a glimpse of something that could be amazing if not so limited.
Awesome music
with ziggy's mod
literally fc3 again in streetshitter land
>siding with cucktra
This. HM2 was a step backwards in just about every other department, but I'll be damned if they didn't absolutely nail the soundtrack.
artstyle was cool
what a wasted potential gaem
...
Fucking this, however the soundtrack is different in style from the first game's soundtrack and so it is better to listen it alone but not in-game

Killing friendly fags and shit players until they rage quit was fun.
I liked how the retard shoots herself and that you could go back in time to see it again.
No love for acid spit?
Going to have to word the shit out of that. Bonus points if alltalk is enabled and they keep spouting "I'm a friendly stop shooting me!" in the mic
Dude, what?
Oh the ironings.
Eventually I just turned the sound off and put on a podcast.
