Is the game really suffering? The only competition I've heard of is the dying WoW (where WoW players are flocking to FF in fucking droves for better or worse) and GW2 (which apparently nobody plays according to Holla Forums.)

The free login campaigns are hardly anything new, they have happened quite a few times.
What the game is truly suffering with is the lack of content per patch thanks to SE putting all there eggs into one basket that basket being 15. and rumor has it that they have left XIV running on a skeleton crew while they sucked people working on it into 15. No idea if its true or not but it feels like it. Heavensward has mostly been a lot of half baked ideas that they didn't really stick with or downright shitty choices (Red Scrips killed end game crafting for about 6-9 months because surprise; people don't want to farm for 12 hours to make 2 items to make more shit, Diadem was going to be a new way of getting gear but felt very unfinished and was extremely tedious boss killing for hours on end or extremely tedious gathering, the new Palace of the Dead content has some potential but is far too easy and needs some dickishness enemies that dungeon crawlers are known for.) and people are getting bored with the predictable end game gearing (grind tomes or do savage/24 man raids, crafted gear has a niche for some jobs, trials for weapons and rarely accessories or grind for relic).
Apparently they are shaking things up with 4.0 but I'll believe it when I see it. I'd like to see stats other then crit or SS to be more important then hardly at all or gear to be more different.

Man its a good time to level alt jobs.

Also tome grinding is fucking stupid, my crafter friends lament about scrips while I spend time getting 1 sand a day for 240.

I could easily get multiple sands a day but I just don't want to spend hours grinding 50 dungeons for sand.

XIV works but even though the story is typical final fantasy its still an mmorpg and a japanese mmorpg at that. Those of us that grew up on jrpgs can deal with the grinds, we will still bitch, but we will do them. Compare to WoW to see what normalfags want from MMORPG's and XIV ain't it. If anything XIV seems to be the alternative for the niche that do.

So after XIII was brand poison and Toriyamas usurping of the entire PS3 lifespan to push his tulpa waifu ruined the reputation of the franchise in japan to the point children in nippon today only know final fantasy from the theatrythmn games they are desperate for XV to make or break the series because from the suits perspective Bravely Default costs way less to make and is far more profitable and successful as an rpg than mainline FF games have been in japan since X and that was like 2002!

They have already said XV's sales decide the future of consoles final fantasies. Hopefully it makes them realise they arent the fmv powerhouse and smaller budget rpgs is where they excel.

I mean shit look at what the persona and megaten games did in the last few releases on a 30th of FFXIII's budget.

If I recall correctly XI is Square's most profitable game they have made currently, not too sure on XIV but I'd assume that is a stable cash flow for them now that 1.0 is dead and forgotten. For the why, they have been throwing money and resources at XV for almost a decade now and are betting all on it being a success and to detox the poison that 13 left on the brand. But from what I "played" of the demo, I don't think it will be.

Funny thing about Red Scrips was that they were intended to be so that more casual crafters could compete with Omnicrafters ruling the marketboards and so that you wouldn't have to max every crafting job for skills. But it had the total opposite effect, Red Scrips took hours to cap and the dreaded ooids and BTN turn ins pre nerf (and post nerf) were an utter nightmare that most downright refused to do them. There was 3 people at best selling gear made from the red scrip turn ins mats and they were going for 50m each at the time due to the time and effort it took to make them. Salt in the wound is that the new IW gear trumps the fuck out of the crafted red scrip gear, is piss cheap to make and is a whole lot easier to craft and gather.

Omnicrafting will always be the way to go unless you're on a major server like Gilgamesh or Balmung. The mb prices will fuck you otherwise. Putting a weekly time gate on scripts was dumb as shit, but I can understand why it was done considering the massive content drought post-3.0.

The spec abilities were shit as well. The only thing I'd like to see on that front is the cost of "Soul of the Crafter" to get cut in half and an extra cross-class slot or two, so that classes like ltw don't get as fucked by not being able to fit the usual mandatory skills that most other classes can.

Oh I know Omnicrafting will always out shine casual babby crafting, but that was one reasons for the system according to Yoshi. The issue with the spec skills is that they are far too reliant on RNG, which is someone you do not want to do for end game crafting. Whistle uses way too much cp for what it does and chances are you are only going to get 1 or 2 Good procs at best on 2/3 star items. I did get alot of use out of Innovative Touch though.

Innovative Touch isn't a specialist skill iirc. It's similar to Maker's Mark in that it's insanely useful for crafting the 3 star crafts and it's cross-classable.

I'm currently thinking about switching my Crp specialist to Alc just because Luminous Fibers are a pain in the ass and my wallet on my server. My gear is max melded on the left except my i190 chest. I don't see a reason to switch from the i170 jewelry to i190 as the stat increase is minimal overall, but the costs are much higher. I'll probably just gather the mats to make them and wait for 3.4 when we see the minimum stats for 4 star. The i190 jewelry still doesn't look like it'll be necessary unless Yoshi makes the minimum stats super high or buffs them.

Why is that shitter not using an aoe rotation? It's been a year since I've used Drg, but you'd have to be dumb to use a st rotation when there are that many enemies around. He also never bursted down the big dinosaurs which push other enemies out of the way and a hit a bit harder and instead focused on the smaller caster adds which melt in aoes.

Well your choices are Parry, Skill Speed, Crit, and Det.
Parry is worthless since it's calculated after Block and Dodge, so even if you melded it to all your gear it wouldn't proc enough times to be useful.
Skill Speed is only useful if you get enough for the game to register it as the next "tier", in which case it shaves off 0.01 of your gcd.
So yeah. Crit and Det. Current stat weights for Pld are WD>STR>VIT>CRT>DET>SS

Its something you have to opt-into now; type /novicenetwork. Before you only had to be a mentor and it would drop you in if there was space, but with only 100 mentors allowed on the network at a time and it dropping you into it the second you logged on they changed it. Was for the best, before there was always 100 mentors and like 20 sprouts. Honestly I was hoping for more trials or 2 man hests that pair you up with a novice while you teach them about there class abit more in depth that you spec into, instead its really basic shit that people really should have figured out by then. Mentor Roulette is also largely pointless and an effort in frustration, I tried it 3 times, 2 of them where EX trials with 3-4 people new that didnt look up a guide and 1 was for Odin with a sch who casted physick maybe, 2 or 3 times the entire encounter before wipe then VA.

I have 2 guesses, one is that there market research team is utter garbage or the magazine company really overstated there influence in the UK. And everyone's issues with it in the thread complaining about it (codes not working, magazines not coming with codes, to get mount you need send them an image with the fucking magazines, stores not stocking them, shady company; was part of the Driver 3 Scandal years ago) came true within about a day. The quarterly issues directly from the site didn't cover the ones with 14 codes, digital copies don't come with a code and the single magazines also from the site sold out within hours. Also the fact the EU has to wait 3 months in total to get all the items and they all expire in December, so only 6 months to redeem them AND the magazines are just really out dated e3 news. Few people spent a whole day trying to track one down to no avail. Its an utter failure of a promo and EU players aren't happy about it at all, and are kinda pissed that US/JAP regions got it easy or with items that have actual fucking use. All UK players can do is to just wait and hope other regions in EU aren't as bad.

I really don't get this guy's thought process, I'm not sure if its a really dedicated troll or just a massive autist. He's complaining about being able to clear a mechanic that might have wiped a min ilvl party, but the trial is a year old, everyone is most likely sync'd to the highest gear level and the trial isn't that hard to begin with. Last time they put a trial that was hard to the main story, people whined about it being too hard and being locked out of content and they nerfed it hard instead of just getting good. You can't be against the concept of getting gud AND want harder content.

2nd bit is just him doing what every fucking retard does in PVP, running off from healer then complaining about no heals, then afks. This shit drives me up the fucking the wall when I do PVP. The AST has got his hands busy solo healing his own group and any other alliances that might need topping up, he had a chance to say he was coming in hot but didn't. OR he could just follow the healer and tank. OR he could not pick a fight with the healers on the group if you really don't want healing.
