In fact, exercise and DMT are both shown to decrease recurrence of addictive behavior because of the positive life outcomes associated with engaging in such behaviors. Exercise, because it impacts the reward system of the brain in a positive way, not to mention larger health benefits. DMT, because (from what I have read of studies of psychedelic drug use in addiction rehabilitation) it causes a profound experience felt as transcendent to the addict, which forces the addict to see his self-harming behavior intensely, from many perspectives including those of loved ones.
You maybe did not deserve the full ire reflected in this post because of a logical error in your hypothetical scenario sentence.
