The issue stems that the way it played this would have been a much better TV show than a video game, and I dont understand why people continue to push video games as this medium for shit like this hipster game when you have youtube and TV being far better candidates for Life is Strange.

I mean there should be a clear division here, you want to be this faux paux geek than do that, but leave gaming to actual fucking gamers that want to keep their hobby exclusive to them and if they want you to play with them they will hand you a controller and let you be their player 2.

I assume fans think the lingo is ironic? How can someone listen to it without feeling insulted (if they're the intended age group) or laughing their ass off?

Judging on what I've seen from their fanbase, they seem to think the script is tongue in cheek/ironic shitposting with "deep undertones." And while I think that is the general consensus it still doesn't mean that is in any way GOOD writing. The way you judge something that is campy or ironic is when it takes a moment and shows that there's more to it than just autism. A good example would be something like Super (2010) where the MC acts like a superhero but constantly has encounters with people who aren't crazy and act realistically when confronted by him.

Another good example would be any decent Bruce Lee/Jackie Chan film. They're always completely ridiculous intentionally or unintentionally but they always bring it back down to earth at certain points with various Art of War concepts or life lessons to show that there IS in fact substance to the films. Another example of film that does satire/irony correctly would be Black Dynamite, where it pays homage down to the last detail.

Now take the last chapter of LiS and realize that they took an obvious opportunity to break the fourth wall. Now, what a SMART writer would do is to take that and use it to drive home a message and show that it's self-aware for a reason a la Metal Gear Solid 2. But no, the dialogue/script quality remains the same. So regardless of whether the writing was intentionally bad, at the end of the day they did nothing with it which is equally as bad as being shitty unintentionally. Basically a Kung Fury situation.
