When it came to Fire Emblem Fates' sales, the two campaigns were sold as two separate copies of the game, requiring people to buy the same game twice for the full content. Additionally most people who bought the game were either apathetic to the censorship, or didn't even know that it was censored in the first place.

The thing with those two facts is that censors work with the full expectation that nobody can tell that the game's content was ever censored, even though it's sloppier than 4kids, which everyone hated both for valid reasons and because "it's cool to hate them", much like people who still make jokes about Justin Bieber. The other thing is that we currently live with a generation whose toddlers are now tweens and teens who are raised to think that censorship is both acceptable and necessary. People still complain about anime dubs for being inaccurate, throwing in shitty jokes and memes, along with censorship, but now there's a political and social barrier against expressing a disliking for such things when it comes to video games. For Fire Emblem Fates and any sales of Bravely Default and Bravely Second, This is the equivalent of a car salesman shitting in the trunks of his cars, and shouting that because his turds were inside the truck when unknowing customers purchased them, that they purchased his cars for the turds just as much for the automobiles themselves.

If someone like Gen Urobuchi or just about anyone else from Japan was discovered to be very pro-censorship in the production of anime, games, VNs, etc., there'd be an uproar, but if Jennifer Anizoe Wuschafer Hepler was making similar content, but was in favor of censorship, you get hands in pockets, hands rubbing each other, and people whistling while looking away. This is the political and social barrier, and it's only because of the "who" that makes it unacceptable to dislike censorship and poor localization.

Back on SFV itself, even after the shitstorms about Mika's ass, Capcom has continued to censor the game for no reason at all. KOF is not really a game that draws my interest for the gameplay, they have been adding little variation since 20 years ago, there is a huge gap in balance between tiers, their movement approach (hops & long jumps) is retarded since hops win every time, you can go all day throwing hops and light kicks until you can poke into a 50% combo, there is no real incentive to defend on this game, no zoning, and like 3 characters either boxers or grapplers that make it different, everyone else is a generic fireball + dp character

It has microtransactions, but the worst thing is the grind. When I say grind, there's the usual repeating the same quest over and over, but there's also a "feature" added to big monsters.
I forget exactly what it's called, but the big monsters activate this shield thing when you knock off so many health bars. When it enters that state, all you can do is slowly chip down its health until it wears off. This makes these battles into a long chore and it is not fun. They just feel needlessly padded out.
It's a shame, because DDO adds some new classes and a few other nice additions to DD's formula, but the game is just so tedious to play. It sorta feels like DD, but with all the sense of progression and satisfaction sucked out of it.

It isn't shorter though in Japan every MH generation gets 2 games. The initial release is like this one that just goes to HR then later on it gets a G version that adds Grank and everything else. There is a story mode now. The illustrations though are for the placeholder story mode that was in at launch. Each character has like 3 fights seperated by like a minute of VN stuff in between each one. Each character can be finished in under 10 minutes.

There's two story modes. A simple one for each fight which includes some drawings and 3 easy fights and a full on cinematic story mode like in MK9/X with in game cutscenes and fights that get harder as the story progresses. Pic related is from the cinematic story mode.
