You can get many of such books from German antique shops, probably only easy if you live in Germany. I have 8 books about the history of Germany, the one's they used from grade 8 to 12 or so to teach the kids. Books released between 1936 and 1942. Have not started reading them yet, gonna be interesting to read the only books depicting our history in a good light. Timespan from around ~1000 - 1939 I believe.

No, "Undefeated in the Field" is often how it's translated in English; this was the saying, that they were undefeated on the battlefield (true) but defeated at the negotiating table.
