I am a little disappointed to see no discussion here on about the DAPL (Dakota Access Pipe Line).

For those of you who do not know, there is an oil company construction a pipe line in land they have not paid for and land that is currently occupied. The pipeline will go through the Missouri River and therefore (based on the track record of oil pipelines in the US and the world) it will leak and contaminate the Missouri River which is the single source of water for most native Indians in the area.

What this means is that a company is illegally carrying out ethnic cleansing and no one cares. There are large protests and police brutality but no news coverage.

They have dug up grave yards (that are in use / or were in use), burnt cars, shot at, arrested and maced hundreds of people alone.

The group that the media say are protesting call themselves the protectors because they are protecting their own land and lives.

Bakken oil production is down as prices fall and ETP (the firm constructing the NADP) had $10 billion tied up in pipeline projects and refinery acquisitions that spend on pipeline development. You let them stop this pipeline and ETP investors start to get shakey.

Making this about clean water is BS. It's ideological cover. But this shit should still be blocked because it's a step towards a revolutionary program that delinks us from oil based development.

Nationalize the oil and gas industry. Engage in strategic degrowth, shut down pipelines and production sites, and direct all future production to decentralized renewable energy.

In order to clear up some misconceptions on what is and isn't going on:

The natives do not own the area six miles(fifteen kilometers) north of Standing Rock/Cannonball. Please, for the love of all that is unholy, stop perpetrating this nonsense. The pipeline goes through a nearby US Army Engineer Corp zone which is also used as a wildlife hunting area conveniently enough.

Once again: The Native Americans do not own the land where the pipe is going through.

We have two to three refineries powered by water and coal between Bismarck-Mandan and Cannonball. No joke. Each of these plants are actively pouring shit into the water, and they on average drain the water by two to three feet every morning to get the motors on the generators running for when the trucks start arriving. Take it from a guy who fishes the Missouri every week and tends to eat fish from it. It's nothing.

What's really bad though is that the current method for transporting oil is really, really fucking over our agriculture state infrastructure. Last year we had several trucks flip with full tanks of crude, several instances of trains literally fucking exploding in the middle of the state, and several derails which cause oil to fall into the river already.

They have not. I have heard this argument thrown around that it's somehow effecting the Native American burial sites, but this is untrue for a variety of reasons.

#1 - The tribes which currently reside in the area at Standing Rock, were relocated into that area about circa 1920's. They originated closer to Lake Sakakawea, which is far, far to the north, and the tribal elements which reside in South Dakota originated further to the south.

#2 - The burial grounds for the Standing Rock tribe are further to the borderline of North and South Dakota.

The protests are a good thing, but, I may make an amateur suggestion, should not be final battle. the organizers must prepare for a long a fight, with many different operations, ongoing indefinitely. this would include a low level, guerrilla insurgency against the pipeline and related infrastructure, as it's great length eliminates any reasonable ability to guard it. this war should be extended to pipeline personnel and their families only out of desperation, They also need more legal funds to fight in court and provide bail, and ways to bring money into the organization. they'll also need social services, such as childcare and widow's pensions; existing services like these should be co-opted and subordinated to the revolution. this should be organized centrally in a way that maximizes trust and minimizes ability to infiltrate.
