I am a little disappointed to see no discussion here on about the DAPL (Dakota Access Pipe Line).

For those of you who do not know, there is an oil company construction a pipe line in land they have not paid for and land that is currently occupied. The pipeline will go through the Missouri River and therefore (based on the track record of oil pipelines in the US and the world) it will leak and contaminate the Missouri River which is the single source of water for most native Indians in the area.

What this means is that a company is illegally carrying out ethnic cleansing and no one cares. There are large protests and police brutality but no news coverage.

They have dug up grave yards (that are in use / or were in use), burnt cars, shot at, arrested and maced hundreds of people alone.

The group that the media say are protesting call themselves the protectors because they are protecting their own land and lives.

Here is some videos to make you understand why all police should be killed:

Bump, this is an important issue - and it's gaining traction on social media etc. with normies. A good focal point to rally around, as around these focal points we can spread the word of socialism to people that are only recently politicized in a leftward direction.

See - getting involved with activists and speaking to them about politics on a wider scale is how you revolutionize people into socialists. How are you helping the spread of socialist ideas if you will only talk to and work with people who are already socialists? You need to spread those ideas to the layers of society that are the closest; the people pissed off enough at the world willing to get off their asses and do something, they just don't have a good understanding yet of what to do, what they're fighting for exactly, and the theory behind why a fight for revolutionary socialism is the fight that matters.

Hurr durr capital and industrial developmen is so evil!!
We should learn from the natives, they dont exploit the land!!!

The only reason their land was taken was becquse they didnt developed it, some form of industry already stablished there could have stopped this

Maybe if they themselves had been able to demand property rights with anything else other than the bourgy justice system, (which cllearly didnt defend them anyway) they wouldnt be in the current situation

Now I am not saying they deserved it, they dont, but being too naive and belive porky will respect your property just because you lige there is garbage and clearly doesnt work

The land should belong to the workers, meaning the natives should develop and create industries in it, not because some liberal dream of every tribe participating but bevquse it is an historical deterministic dea that taking over land, that is protected by a heavily militarized force makes it harder for porky

Because the right wing-nuts were doing something to pester the State, not actually opposing one of its key policies going forward.

The United States has a vested interest in denveloping energy independence with Russia and Isis and Syria brewing up shit and clogging up Middle East oil and political tubes. A major bottleneck to domestic oil production now is transporting crude, especially from new site of production (like the Bakken oil field the NDAP is slated to move along to east coast markets via existing pipelines in Illinois). Bakken oil production is down as prices fall and ETP (the firm constructing the NADP) had $10 billion tied up in pipeline projects and refinery acquisitions that spend on pipeline development. You let them stop this pipeline and ETP investors start to get shakey.

Making this about clean water is BS. It's ideological cover. But this shit should still be blocked because it's a step towards a revolutionary program that delinks us from oil based development.

Nationalize the oil and gas industry. Engage in strategic degrowth, shut down pipelines and production sites, and direct all future production to decentralized renewable energy.

Nolan Morgan
Nolan Morgan

Making this about clean water is BS. It's ideological cover.
No it fucking isn't. These pipelines have HUNDREDS of spills that go unreported. It will absolutely ruin their water.

bigstory.ap.org/article/ap-newsbreak-100s-nd-oil-spills-not-publicized
North Dakota, the nation's No. 2 oil producer behind Texas, recorded nearly 300 oil pipeline spills in less than two years, state documents show. None was reported to the public, officials said.
According to records obtained by The Associated Press, the pipeline spills — many of them small — are among some 750 "oil field incidents" that have occurred since January 2012 without public notification.

Sup, actual person out of North Dakota, wouldn't mind clearing up some things from a perspective of someone who literally lives right north of Standing Rock and Cannonball.

In order to clear up some misconceptions on what is and isn't going on:

Oil companies are not paying for the land!
The natives do not own the area six miles(fifteen kilometers) north of Standing Rock/Cannonball. Please, for the love of all that is unholy, stop perpetrating this nonsense. The pipeline goes through a nearby US Army Engineer Corp zone which is also used as a wildlife hunting area conveniently enough.

Once again: The Native Americans do not own the land where the pipe is going through.

It going to pollute the water!
We have two to three refineries powered by water and coal between Bismarck-Mandan and Cannonball. No joke. Each of these plants are actively pouring shit into the water, and they on average drain the water by two to three feet every morning to get the motors on the generators running for when the trucks start arriving. Take it from a guy who fishes the Missouri every week and tends to eat fish from it. It's nothing.

What's really bad though is that the current method for transporting oil is really, really fucking over our agriculture state infrastructure. Last year we had several trucks flip with full tanks of crude, several instances of trains literally fucking exploding in the middle of the state, and several derails which cause oil to fall into the river already.

They dug up grave yards!
They have not. I have heard this argument thrown around that it's somehow effecting the Native American burial sites, but this is untrue for a variety of reasons.

#1 - The tribes which currently reside in the area at Standing Rock, were relocated into that area about circa 1920's. They originated closer to Lake Sakakawea, which is far, far to the north, and the tribal elements which reside in South Dakota originated further to the south.

#2 - The burial grounds for the Standing Rock tribe are further to the borderline of North and South Dakota.

So, AMA… I guess?

The protests are a good thing, but, I may make an amateur suggestion, should not be final battle. the organizers must prepare for a long a fight, with many different operations, ongoing indefinitely. this would include a low level, guerrilla insurgency against the pipeline and related infrastructure, as it's great length eliminates any reasonable ability to guard it. this war should be extended to pipeline personnel and their families only out of desperation, They also need more legal funds to fight in court and provide bail, and ways to bring money into the organization. they'll also need social services, such as childcare and widow's pensions; existing services like these should be co-opted and subordinated to the revolution. this should be organized centrally in a way that maximizes trust and minimizes ability to infiltrate. Anarkiddies might say this sounds like vanguardism and that I'm a dumb tankie, but Anarkiddies are also retards, and should be reminded that anarchism has no issue with authority, only unjustified authority, and revolutionary organizations with leaders and commanders is completely compatible with anarchism, and if you make a fuss about this you really are just a useful idiot of liberalism, and will probably turn into a Post-Keynsian democrat just like Rebel in a few years.

They should have built heavy industry in a place that has hardly any infrastructure, is a thousand miles from a port city, and is colder than Alaska in the winter?

it's difficult, but there is plenty they can try. most obviously using their current publicity to get donations, party dues are not insignificant either, but lack any productive enterprise, they can look at criminal methods: counterfeiting, soft drugs, smuggling guns from Canada, bank robberies (there are 5000 a year, with $25M stolen each year, though most is returned, and most perpetrators captured. bank robbery is not infeasible). We don't know what they ought to do, just that they need some source of income to keep operations ongoing.
