The TPP would have limited the ability to go after China much more though since it would have required every other signatory involved to agree to the new terms. This is precisely why Trump is against these big multi-national trade agreements like TPP and NAFTA. It prevents individual flexibility in negotiation by lumping everybody together. Much better to have bilateral trade agreements than these bloated globalist trade deals.

The TPP was a trade union that the United States would have been leading, which excluded china. I don't know all of the details, but there seems to be a consensus that was/would have been the most effective tool in slowing down China's growth.

The TPP was designed to integrate China, not contain it. Ultimately you'd get more free trade with them AND CCP SOE's would have the right to sue your government (and thus cost you money).

The purpose was to scare them out of their patent laws. China's laws allow them to outright steal medicine-related patents from other countries so they can give gibs to their population. (((Pharma))) didn't like that, because China wasn't paying their 3000% mark up for Viagra, and so they cut a deal with Obama to help make Obamacare possible in exchange for him selling out the American people. China is terrified of losing jobs to Southeast Asia, arguably more than they are worried about paying more for medicine.

In the end the deal was supposed to be: China changes patent laws, (((people))) get richer off of lower barriers to trade, and pharmaceutical companies lower prices so Obama can claim Obamacare as his legacy.

There's a bunch of lefties who will get assblasted since, by simple virtue of the free market, any time that a tariff is introduced it will end up harming the smaller countries involved. Since the US just happens to be in the wonderful position of the largest consumer in the market and the one setting the prices for everyone else, the best way to describe major tariffs like this is a way for the US to tax the citizens of other countries.

To further clarify: how do I know this was the real plan? There was actually a debate in the TPP drafting about whether or not SOEs (that means China) would be excluded from the ISDR (corporate court system). This was flatly rejected. The only justifiable reason to do so, would be planning to incorporate China later on.

I work closely with Chinese on occasion and the morales there are dropping as the pay rates increase. They are all under immense pressure to find new business, as they based their businesses on steady expansion. What they didn't bank on was market saturation or tariffs, they all can't win. There are only so many novelty flowers and sink plugs that can be sold in the world market and now that is going to only get more expensive, as western countries get further in debt, with more rapefugees and minorities to gibs.

Things are going to get really interesting in China and when it crashes, it'll go really quick. All the smart rich ones are buying overseas for this reason exactly. They know what is coming.
