Halberds are great.

Gargoyle halberd has the highest lightning AR I believe. The moveset is also leaps and bounds better than the regular halberd.

Threaded Cane has a great moveset and a long reach. Jumping attack lays whole groups of enemies flat, backstep+R1 has longer reach than any other weapon in the game.

Good luck getting that early in the game, unless you're going to cheese Eileen and make her fall off a building.

Man, for Dark Souls 3, I hated how the line between OP as fuck and absolutely useless was thin.

Most weapons you picked up were absolute shit, but you just find one (Astora Straight Sword, whatever) and the game becomes a breeze. For my first ever playthrough of the game, I wanted to play a defensive knight, sword and board, like every first playthrough. I found the Astora Sword, and remembered the fun I had in DS1 with it, so I used it. Found out that I can infuse it with raw to make it OP as fuck. I just beat Pontiff with one try, I mean for a blind playthrough the amount of deaths are really low. But because of that, I have no motivation to complete the game, I feel like I have to force myself to enjoy playing it. It feels so hollow.

Mostly like you, but for Morrowind I mainly always go as a fucktard mage that is OP beyond all degrees. It is fun to get all the stat boosting spells, and for escort quests turn the escort into a literal God that can kill cliff racers in one hit with their dagger. Fun Shit.

I meant that in general, I approach new RPGs with a defense>offense attitude.

As for Morrowind, my favorite playstyle has always been to mass summon weak monsters, AoE absorb Int/Will and then cast obnoxiously overpowered buff spells and chain it up until you can wipe out Almalexia and Her Hands with 1 spell.

The thing that makes things like Astora straight sword such an OP piece of shit is even with infusing it to raw or refined; you can still buff it with Carthus Blade or Lightning blade as long as you don't infuse it elementally.

Which I guess is the best way to play a faith melee build- just raw or refine everything and have enough faith and miracles to buff it with what you want and just rape everything

You don't even need faith to be successful with Astora Straight Sword. Just get minimum stat requirements then pump Endurance and Vigor. Armor does nothing anyway.

The cane is a very underrated weapon.
It's actually a decent DEX weapon.

As for mine, Beast Claws + Beast's Embrace is the most fun i had in BB.
In fact it's the most fun i had in a souls game, period.

Shame it takes so long to get both components.

I personally liked the Rakuyo best, it's the Blade of Mercy's cooler older brother. Too bad you have to go up against one of the most ludicrously unfair setups in the game to get it.

Prior, I just used the Sniper-Rifle on my first playthrough and upgraded the shit out of that. Second was the baton once I found out just upgrading melee once allows you to knock out most enemies with one hit to the back.
