It doesn't help matters that my source video was already shite quality. Audio was at 64, and video was VP9 at 100 bitrate. For a 5 and change minute video, it was an ordeal to get it at it's current file size.

I didn't really watch those by Tim Burton so I can't comment on that, I only really got into Batman after watching tdk.

But overall I would say that the first one was not that bad. I mean yes some scenes are indeed shit, like the escape scene, or the end where that black guy comments on the vehicle. I guess they had to somewhat casualize it to get peoples attention. In the end it is deeper than most of the other movies we have, especially action movies that feature heroes like that.
