They outline what is acceptable in terms of actions, and then let people just go out and claim to be ALF. They had a website where people could send claims that they did X action, and it would be posted as if it was the ALF that did it.
The best part is that it allowed plausible deniability on almost anything, because if the random person or group that took action on behalf of them went "too far" or made some bad PR, they could just say things like "Well, we would never condemn those who wish to take action on behalf of suffering animals (or in our case, taking action to stop white genocide) but that we would not advocate the way they chose.
