Almost Cheating

ITT: Things you do in games which aren't cheating or hacking, but could be considered exploits which make the game noticeably easier and/or fun.

Fallout: New Vegas:
This can all be done before level 10 if you place all your skillpoints in energy weapons, sneak and science if you want to make more effective ammunition.

playing a monk in D&D 3E/3.5E games

it's so broken and stupid, I feel like a faggot every time but the next time I start playing I'm like "ehhh" because I hate missing out on all the good monk shit

u MADD bro? At least you can cast Summon Dubs 1/day

Prestidigitate

I'm so good at video games it should be considered cheating to even let me play, not even kidding.

wow user u r so cool

Looks like you can too.
Cheater.

You are fucking god-awful at FNV if this is the best you can do. Let me tell you how to REALLY do it:

If you roll with the Q-35 Matter Modulator at 9 luck with the Light Touch perk (Dead Money and 45 repair required) at level 2 you should be critting almost every second shot. If you take the proper path you shouldn't encounter any enemies except a few bark scorpions, and maybe a few fiends when you're among the NCR troopers at the McCarran walls.

Call of Pripyat's artifact hoarding

Or you know, just find that Vintorez on the burned farm's attic in Zaton

Back before the latest economy patch in Starsector, it was perfectly viable to buy a boatload of food from the Church of Ludd, sit in hyperspace, and wait for a food shortage. You could make shitloads of money off of a simple cargo run, and even more if you sold it on the black market to avoid tariffs.
Considering how much you were getting paid, it make the subsequent reputation hit negligible.

Smelly dumb NCR scum.

...

...

That is my typical start except I go directly to casino and then get the stat modifications with the caps.

Never knew you could sneak in with a NCR uniform…

Might as well just call it the "continue pressing E to receive free money" quest.

Master of Magic:

All Death books, no retorts.
Chose High Elves as starting race (for the mana).
Chose Wraiths as your rare starting spell pick.
Spam Wraiths, spam Wraiths and then spam more Wraiths. Fuck up everything and win.

One of my best memories from Fallout 2:

Regeneration in Deus Ex.
Was that shit even tested?

100k? Gomorrah gives you 9k, the Tops another 10k, the Ultraluxe 15k, the Atomic Wrangler 5k, and you can easily get another 6k from snowglobes (one at Goodsprings cemetery, one in the old Mormon fort, one on the top floor of the Lucky 38). Chuck in a few thousand from Fiend loot and the combat armour that you get from Gomorrah and you're sitting pretty, but it's no 100k.

Playing as a short, female saiyan with the "super vegeta" skill in Xenoverse. It basically just turns you into a disco ball of beam spam, and makes grinding a total breeze. Near infinite ultra attacks, with your only downtime being charging your ki. Once you get that skill, almost nothing can really challenge you in PvE. You just get even more overpowered as you get better ultra attacks. Special mention to the underrated vacation delete, since it's stun effect means it basically combos into itself, and you can get it in the fifth PQ.

Also because female saiyans make the best waifus.

It was nearly broken, but given how much effort you had to put into getting it, it's worth it.
You'd have to be retarded to pick anything but the cyberlegs and regeneration.

Jeez, man, I didn't expect someone to actually know it. Still, that $45k is plenty to last you until you come crawling back to the Gun Runners with 37 bars of gold shoved up your ass.

Eh, it does have some limitations

You can only do 25 health per cycle, which uses a set amount of biocell energy, which means you can very easily burn excessive amounts if you aren't diligent with it. Also, it automatically shuts off when you reach max health, so if you're regening in the middle of a fight and it shuts off, you have to remember to reactivate it before your health drops too much.

Otherwise it's just the best aug in the game.

Plus, manual regeneration just feels so much better than auto regen.

I got that game as a christmas present and I hated it. Still I played it enough to break it.

Gold bars are shit loot.

Of course the usual route for heavy guns is finding/buying an electronic lockpick early, going to toxic caves, repairing the generator, going down, running past the sentry robot to the cabinets for combat armor and the bozar and running back to the exit, hopefully in one piece.

There's also the fact that point-blank explosive damage is more or less fatal despite regen (unless you get the armor aug that negates most of the damage).

...

The gold per weight ratio is shit, thus shit. It's meme loot.

caps*

...

Good taste user

Speaking of, powering up in general made that game feel fucking great.

They're only worth like 300 caps per lb, only an autist would try to take them all.

You can't quantify style, jackass.

Do you play on fucking novice?

This .
At least let us that you also focused on enchanting, found the Gloves of the Pugilists, learned the enchantment, and eventually enchanted a pair of Dragonbone Gauntlets using it with a grand soul gem.

Wrath Steal and Health Steal are absolutely stupid in Darksiders 2 and will get you to max health and wrath in a few attacks. In the Deathinitive edition they made they made Health Steal and Wrath Steal not show up until you get to the very end levels of the first NG and even then they're quite rare. You get an Axe that levels with you and has a lot of Health Steal and low damage early on, though.

You can get a ridiculous amount of skill points from the new skill point chests in the new version, and with an exploit you can get far more than enough to max out every skill you have. Getting all the Stonebites and then spamming the critical damage reward (and getting crit chance from weapons, your trinket, and abyssal gear) lets you do ridiculous damage.

Riftbreaker will break through the shields of Undead Generals. Not sure if it was intended, though. If it wasn't intended then it might only work on the Deathinitive version. No idea if it works on Argul. Widowmaker (the 2h attack out of a roll)>Riftbreaker is the easiest way to do it.

Play on Expert and tell us that still works, motherfucker.

Or you can just kill him in one hit by placing a LAM where he will spawn before going down to the universal constructor room. Or alternatively just throw one at him if he caught you off guard or shoot him with a single GEP gun rocket. You don't even need training in demolitions or heavy weapons. Explosives in the original Deus ex fucking kill everything outright. People, mechs, turrets, bosses, DOORS. And the best part is that you can get them within the first five minutes of the game.

That's true, but man, is it a blast to DBZ powerup in a game without having a cutscene do it for you. I'm also reminded of when UNATCO turned on me.

>pick up a canister and grab I think the third level of cyberlegs

Fucking GOTYAY, I wish every game made me feel this powerful without holding my hand about it.

...

I'm surprised that no-one's mentioned Dark Souls yet. Pyromancy is absurdly overpowered and has no requirements, and things like the Gravelord sword, coloranthy ring, grass-crest shield, and black knight halberd are all immediately available to you. Hell, the zweihander can be upgraded to +5 with all of the consumable souls you find around Firelink/burg/parish/Blighttown/valley of the drakes as long as you get to Andre.

I love games that let you ball out of control if you know where you're going.

...

Leveling up Stealth and Marksman.
Feels amazing, but sometimes I can't help but wonder if it's cheap or not…

That's literally it. Their damage output is disgusting, tweaking your build in certain ways can also make them tankier than S&B warriors, you have a billion fucking lockdowns if you really feel like investing in them and assuming you're not playing on nightmare. And even if you are you put the team on your back so you can just use them as healbots and life taps

I remember there used to be a meme about stealth archery.
Because everyone fucking did it.
Because it was broken as hell.

Any 11 book start can be horrendously broken.

TF2

Your campaigns never make it past level 5… do they?

...

In the EU3 you can just end any war you're losing if only you have positive prestige. Just add some small countries into your sphere of influence and in peace negotiation offer to remove from sphere and you get 20% each country no matter how small and irrelevant they are. It feels like a cheat but sometimes when I'm just not in the mood of fighting I do that to get the 5 year lasting ceasefire.

In Morrowind there's just too many possibilities to count. It's hard to resist to not just pick up that Orcish armour at Suran or the random glass weapon at that one southeastern mushroom Tel-something city etc. Then there's the whole alchemy exploitation but I usually just ignore it because of how broken it is.

Fuck stealth archery, that shit is too fucking boring, and nowhere near assassin-y enough.
If there's any one thing skyrim got right, it was making stealth daggers more broken than stealth archery.

Talking about broken things, how about the Meltdown perk?
(Note: May cause a chain reaction)

Energy weapons are alright but looting goo piles and bone fragments suck arse.

High calibre rifles are where it's at - Medicine Stick with hollow-points and the Cowboy perk is one of the most satisfying things in the game. Making heads explode with .45-70 never gets old.

In Mount and Blade
With mods

Best ending ever.

To be fair that is the entire point of STALKER right there, hunting for artifacts and making mad dosh from em.

I hated meltdown just due to the amount of damage I was taking from it.
Yet the most Fun™ way to play New Vegas is with max Explosives.

I'm going to run high explosives character once I get my game stable via a few mods again. Once I do I may try rushing for Annabelle as I want to use missiles more than just grenades

Holy fuck i've been missing out

...

it's a sandbox rpg with shit writing and shit story. The only reason to play it at all is to wander around fucking shit up. and rape mods.

Morrowind is of course a obvious one but I still love how many ways there are. My favourite is going to that mine near balmora and then tell that faggot in vivec where the mine is for a daedric weapon. All you need is a scroll of unhinging. Or you can just grab a sword of white woe in one of the guard towers in balmora

Is this a joke?

Add in Arcane Warrior. Shit's OP as fuck.

...

All it took to make this game good was not locking you in animations and make every hit actually matter.
Instead you cannot even jump while running and it takes around 20 hits to kill any enemy.

Some quest mods are also fun.
Forgotten city was good, I don't remember last time I just walked around and talked to people for over 4 hours, I have definitely never done such thing in vanilla Skyrim.

...

Holy fuck do I ever love this exploit, it lets you heal back to full with just an ordinary Potion of Healing or stack Draw Upon Holy Might for 25 in all three physical stats. Spamming 30 magic missiles, summoning 6 Efreetis, or 6 Sunfires to absolutely roast an enemy lets you break the game over your knee. Yet I find it essential to killing SCS mages because they've only got like 4 fucking layers of melee protection spells, so when you cast Breach on them once, they'll just fire up another Protection from Magic Weapons.

I remember making Oblivion into a spectacle fighter thanks to moving and attacking. I took down that one monster that blocks the way to Shivering Isles without doing the quest thanks to my styling. So when I played Skyrim for the first time, I was disgusted.

ES4:Oblivion

oh man, this shit doesn't get any better

Arcanum

>Get bored because game becomes too easy
Alternately

I should reinstall this game…

That describes just about any RPG game or game with RPG elements I've ever played. Mages are always retardedly OP with absolutely no weaknesses or drawbacks. They have it all, the most damage, cc, heals, spells that give tankiness. Surely they could at least have high mana costs? No, there's usually an overabundance of mana pots or some retarded talent or skill that makes mana management not needed.

So, yeah, that's pretty much been my experience with most RPG games or games with RPG elements. Mage is almost always a baby class that has no drawbacks.

we really need more saiyan girls tbh

Typically the draw back is painful early game but if you have ANY clue what you're doing that's negligible. Like shit, I kicked System Shock 2 up recently, rolled psi. Start of the game sucked but I'm barely halfway through, max maintenance, power armor, max energy weapons with a billion hypos for psi and healing, heal "spells", energy regen psi… It's just disgusting. Literally the only thing that's given me pause is like… Rumblers. But I went to that from praying I didn't catch a stray shot in the back because I had to run from literally everything until that point. The balance depends on the game because sometimes casters just have an ugly time at the start. I mean physically painful. And sometimes, even though they're the best, the melee classes are still very much competitive. I think DA:O did class balance right, because anyone can beat it but dumb combos like Bursty, CC tank mages require you to consider your options or go online like a boring baddie and Google builds.

...

fucking nice better than my path which was:

I get to the strip by the time I'm level 3-4

here's a fun one

Wish he would come to our Holla Forums

My build for the shadow run games was always an elf centred around quickness, ranged combat/sniper rifling, with low points in body. I take a melee character with me, and another person with flashbangs, and I just flush people out of cover and blow their faces off with haste and other +ap drugs.

Serves you right for not fixing your shit

I always kinda wished for the game to use this more and do stuff such as transferring your funds out of the zone to a Swiss bank account and similar, to give you a reason to actually hoard money

...

Stealing the soul gems in the Balmora mages guild then using the creeper to make an assload of cash and buying all the training you'll ever need.

Run to tel fyr and steal all the good loot you'll ever need. Break the game before you even hit level 10

I can't wait for OpenMW to play it again. Using its more flexible engine, I'm going to rebalance some of the skills to be less overpowered and more rewarding

OpenMW is perfectly playable right now dude.

I know it's wrong, but it feels so good

...

...

It's not even clever.

That shit takes ages though, a bit later on in the game you basically have an endless supply of lifegems anyway

Yeah, it's mostly an early game trick. Good for multitasking though.

But what would even be the point of that?

took me a while to figure out this is bait

...

Amazing shit, and they never fucking patched it. I understand that it is an abortion of a game, but still it always has some people playing it.

...

Playing as Shinkai or Golem in Urban Reign

you mean wizzard/druid right?

what the fuck are you talking about?

...

lol every single shot is a critical hit. The only problem is that the damage is way too low near end game until you
game is broken

Part of me thinks this is bait, though I'm not entirely sure who it's meant to trigger.
Then there's another part of me who thinks this was made in all seriousness by one of the many meme seeking normalfag retards that Skyrim attracted.

Silly Saiyan women don't know about hybrid power
It was bullshit writing but fucking 4 year old Gohan was more powerful out of nothing than his father after training for his whole life because of that

It's definitely bait. Anyone who would actually say things like "Skyrim series" wouldn't know enough about the lore to mention the Khajiit trip to the moon.
And the main point of the image is to take the piss anyway. It makes sense that, while mocking the mechanics, you might also add silly things like that.

What's so hilarious is how many mistakes are condensed into a single sentence:
o i am laffin

Max dex 100%. Get absurd defense rating. Nothing can ever hit you. Now just stack spell resistance and become invulnerable.

Max cunning 100%. Sure you can do fat damage swinging a 2h and using assassin perks, but fuck that. Go Bard, use Captivating Song. Stun all enemies every 3 seconds out of 4. Get 2 Bards and you permastun everything that can be stunned.

Autism

I learn something every time this gets reposted.

Shadow Warrior remake.
Sword.
Except it doesn't makes the game more fun.

It's a feature.

muh nigga

...

The funniest thing about this picture, is that its true for both Oblivion and Skyrim.

No matter what class you are or what perks you are leveling, arrows in stealth always deal maximum damage.

It's making light of the fact that "stealth archery" is the easiest way to play the game and that absolutely any race can use any combat style

Monks are shit man, take a good at any good caster build

The fucking Cloak is way worse.

Granted, any explosive made him a pretty easy boss.

Arcanum again. Time mage plus throwing weapons in turn based mode. Haste + Tempus Fugit gives you 50 AP. Chakrams can be thrown for 2 AP per attack and can't be damaged unless you critically fail. You either kill everything in one turn, or realise that it'll take two turns early enough so you've got 20 AP left to run away with.

Turns out the Monk class exists for a reason

Something skyrim related finally made me laugh

Or you can just do the fortify intelligence exponential alchemy exploit, but that's way more well-known and less fun.

Call of Pripyat made artifact hunting looks like a small puzzle game if you have a good enough detector to just plain grabbing them if you got the Svarog detector
Point is make artifact hunting even more dangerous (ex: make the artifacts that spawn in the open much rarer but more frequent undergrounds)

It would make the game too easy though

The best thing about Morrowind is how you able to abuse the system after you learn it's mechanics.

I remember similiar guides back then which told where were hide the good stuffs and other things. Man Beth really made the "explore" part worth your time back then. Now you climb and damage sponge for 10 bottlecaps and minigame for 2 apple and a junk item.

Fuck Todd!

Almost forgot, pics related, for these versions you need the MCP max spellmaking/enchanting magnitude increase patch applied.

And yes, I cheated to give myself a grand soul in a petty soul gem in the first screenshot because I was feeling lazy and just did it for the screenshot.

It was fun. Mutants that scared me with the perma death became my bitch.

I know some killer skips for Mirror's Edge and Quake 1 but that's it. I wish I grew up playing RPG, anytime I try to play one I always end up getting bored right after character creation, I just never get immersed.

And I'm almost certain FFT has loads of other ways to make ordinary men into demigods

Shirahadori + Ramza's shout for maximum Bravery pretty much makes Ramza invulnerable to physical attacks. Literally a 1% chance of hit.

CT5 + Holy + Chameleon Robe with Arithmeticians is pretty much rape.

THE LEGEND NEVER DIES

Jagged Alliance 2

This nigga, and smokes.
If only you could find more ammo on the maps for him you could solo almost anything.

I've heard hints on this, can you explain it because I was confused on the explanation from the ES wiki

Which one?

It was the purple one, right?

...

BKH made my first Dark Souls run pretty easy. I ran the entire game searching for something stronger than it and ended up carrying it all the way to Gwyn's fight.

My cousin picked Dark Souls up during the wave of PC hype. He played through once, using a guide to build a ridiculously powerful character, and just blew through the entire game with ease. He later complained to me about the game not living up to the hype about difficulty.

After I explained how retarded he had been, he played through Dark Souls 2 on release without a guide, and played DEX/FTH like before. This meant he had lightning damage against a set of bosses hugely weak to lightning because they patched it out later on.

getting Grim Reaper's Sprint in 3 and just using VATS on every single enemy over and over. Click. Select head. Bang bang dead. Click. Select head. Bang bang dead. Click. Select Head… I've seen some people do that, and I've never actually been tempted. VATS in general makes things so fucking easy it's almost not fun. I always avoided it unless I absolutely needed to use it.

The Dragons Tooth Sword seemed broken as fuck but was too damn fun to use.

For shame.

Regeneration aug is way more OP.

This. Made my stealthy non-lethal run go full hack and slash mode.

...

That is basically the standard reaction to most TES lore. Like many things the sources and details on that particular story are muddy at best.
From The Words of Clan Mother Ahnissi:
More explicitly, there is another quote whose source appears entirely nonexistent. It is fairly widespread, but I have no idea from which text it purportedly originates:

For BBI the MA's Ricochet Hunter was ludicrously powerful. 4x Magick Rebalancer and then let a ricochet off, and it will destroy everything. It makes Death trivial in most of his spawn points, because it keeps him permanently staggered. Elder Ogres would go down in a single cast if you were lucky. The otherwise-terrifying Bloodless Stockade is nothing; just let one of those off and if hits half the enemies in the zone.

What the fuck are you even talking about?

8 luck, Max endurance, 4 int build, everything else is high, except for strength as typical.

Go to the school, grab the stealthboy, go north.

Sneak past the deathclaws, get to New Vegas, gamble for money and buy implants, INT first, then Luck, then whatever else I feel like.

Then proceed to hunt for skill books, and join every faction for their best shit, and unarmed maneuvers, before leaving them in the dust.

Steal every NCR dog tag I can while doing this as well.

There is no almost cheating. Either it is cheating or it isn't.

If you don't like the game mechanics, get gud faggot.

I do 2 things in thief
Bunnyhopping to reach 60 mph and when caught circle strafe around guards and knock them out which works 100% of the time if you're in the dark. Fuck the guard doesn't even need to be in the darkness for it to work.

Here's pretty-much every exploit you can do in Medieval 2.

Last time I played I tried to mostly ignore Alchemy, but even at skill 50 I was making Health/Fatigue/Magic potions that were simply 10x better than anything you can ever purchase, and almost weightless too. And the ingredients cost almost nothing. You have to just outright refuse to pick up a mortar & pestle to enjoy that game.

You can also get to vegas level 1 if you tagged speech, get Petes dynamite, hug the wall north of goodsprings, and lob it off the cliff at the Cazadors in VATS.

You can also just sneak through Black Mountain, much easier and doesn't require any specific stats or items.

Does paper mario have half-a presses?

Yes, and I love every single second of them

Deus Ex HR

Bonus points if you grab recoil nullification. Playing that game without a pistol is the real challenge.

...

It really is a balls easy game, innit?

...

...

...

Been a while since I played a mage. Doesn't Tempus Fugit have a pretty steep FP upkeep? I remember having to dedicate a whole follower's inventory to mana pot storage last time I played a dedicated mage. And the fatigue restore ingredients are too difficult to get as a mage, as I think herbalists stop trading with you at extreme magick aptitude, and it only restores 20 fp per use anyway, less than even basic mana pots.

That had me really disappointed, cause it was so fucking obvious.

I took the chip after reading the news about how the bad guys were behind the chip. I really wanted to see what it would do and I was pretty disappointed.

$$\left[\frac{ayy}{lmao}\right]$$

I was talking about in the vidya D&D games

I have no friends so I've never played pen & paper D&D even though my older brother played with his friends every single weekend, I guess roleplaying is too awkward when someone in the room has a v a g i n a

monks are strong tho, all you need is high WIS and mediocre DEX and you can dump basically everything else, I like to go with high INT for skillpoints because I hate having NPC party members

I like mystic theurge too but it's never been done right in a D&D CRPG afaik

casters are cool but monks get a lot of their benefits without having to stand around casting for 5 minutes before an encounter; if you compare builds without giving a caster build time to pre-cast then caster builds kinda fall apart

Who is best faction in FO:NV and who has done nothing wrong?

House

Where do I start with TW3?
>motherfucking Hjaalmar's motherfucking Steel motherfucking Sword (+200% crit damage bonus)

Imagine how easy that would be with a turbo controller…*should I feel bad for never beating this game without a godlike party that I didn't rightfully earn?*

Personally I like using the skeleton elf dudes deck instead for them zerg rush strats.

...

Weather cards + Villentretenmerth/Scorch
youtube.com/watch?v=QhvK5lr9Dik

Fuck right off, the level cap is 30.
You're a goddamn liar and I won't accept your backpedaling and you deserved to not finish the game

Since I'm a sucker for roleplaying I usually play Elf just for the sake of the charisma.

Yeah i know, but i mean cmon how many npc's even properly use weather cards?

You are fucking retarded. No matter the level cap all of my characters were maxed out and all it took was a few A-taps to beat all of the final bosses in short order. The game isn't even that good anyway so I only beat it once like any person with good taste would.

If you can remember a cute little story from 20 years ago, you can remember the details of it
Eat shit

Payday 2 recently updated its skill system and introduced a bunch of new stuff, the fugitive tree in particular has a bunch of melee related stuff but the important skills are the top, berserker and frenzy to be more precise, basically in combination these 2 skills raise your damage but you have about 30% health total, now one of the benefits of this is 60% damage reduction which further combines with armor, now you use the anarchist deck which converts a portion of your health to armor as well, you then combine this with shotguns and the man of iron body armor and you're basically a 30% health having heister than can kill any cop and most specials in a single shotgun blast and are basically immortal, you're constantly getting armor back and headshots also give you armor back.

People don't know if the skills are supposed to interact like this but it basically trivializes the game, only cloakers pose a threat.

...

...

Reminds me of a story I read where some guy got a level 15 Landorus from wonder trade with perfect IVs and used it as his "starter" for the rest of the game without realizing it was a legendary.

Calculators in Final Fantasy Tactics.

I remember when a friend of mine traded me his lv 30 Togetic in Gold when I was only up to the second gym.
Naturally it didn't give a fuck and refused to follow orders.

House or Independent if you're into that kind of roleplaying.

...

Fuck off with your total lack of understanding in regards to memory. If this was a game that I truly adored then maybe all of the details would be remembered. I had to go and lookup the name of the last dungeon because I couldn't remember that either.

Can you name all of the final dungeons and level caps in all of the RPGs you played 20 years ago and didn't even like very much? No?

SHOCKING!

Seriously, eat shit.

u mad lol

I'm right and you're wrong. Later in life you'll hopefully learn to deal with such situations.

Anyway, I'm sorry that you're a big fan of a game that really isn't that great.

It's a game that made me feel like a true alchemist.
Every day i would show up in the alchemist guild and make potions and sell them for that bit of money, until i was strong enough to make those sweet fortify 5k intelligence & luck which are so useful if you do enchanting on your own.

Stealth Archers in Skyrim are nothing compared to Divinity 2
>get the skill which allows me to fire sixteen arrows at once

...

I only played Red/Blue back when I was a lad, recently I've been emulating a hack called "Liquid Crystal" while I watch movies, it's kind of fun not knowing a fucking thing about these mons or where to go next. My team is probably pure shit but I'm loving it.

Wait fuck he was a kajiit was he?
Hard to keep track, he wasn't such an interesting npc.

Ajira is a female Khajit, you fucking n'wah
I bet you haven't even memorized the 36 Lessons. Fucking outlanders, honestly.

It was a female khajiit and your whole post reads like you barely played morrowind

I just played to become an overlord, no sense in wasting time with alien scum.
Guess what?
By the time i reached my goal good old pussy was still in his guild selling crab meat :^)
Pic related is best kajiit anyway
