It's not the size of the bank that is necessarily important, but the banks that get caught up in all the crazy inter-state lending and trading that crosses state lines are the ones that blow these huge, retarded, financial bubbles that cause these mass market wipe outs like in 2008, where ((they)) then seize the everyone's money in the crisis they created. There used to be laws against interstate banking, every state in the US was like it's own little country that the banks could not trade out and away from. This kept them from growing too powerful, and also kept them in line, because the banks in one state got all fucked up people could literally just move their money out of state to more responsible banks and still be fine. Now it's all deregulated and they can do what the fuck ever they want. Not all small banks do that shit, some do. But literally ALL large banks do it, and are at massive liability they cannot cover. The downside is smaller banks usually have less insurance and not as good cyber protection for their shit, so there is some risk in that regard, but nothing as bad as being retarded enough to keep your money in one of the massive, national and international level banks.
Bottom line: Do some research, and either find a good, local credit union, or find a bank that is either regional only, or statewide at biggest, doesn't do any interstate banking or lending, and above all else, is an actual solvent bank that has the assets they claim to have. Trust me, they are out there. I bank my shekels in a small, regional bank that is one of the top ten most solvent banks in the USA for a reason, which is I want to be able to get to my cash when the massive financial sector crash comes, I don't want to be one of the zombies that loses my life's work in a flash.
