Battlebird thread

Anyone here played Bird Game? Amazon's being a piece of shit and I'm only getting my copy August fucking third. In the meantime I have nothing to do but shitpost about it.

That picture alone screams "Overwatch with furries".

At least he's more interesting looking than Winston. And he's the only furry. The closest other would be Toby who's some retarded penguin in a powersuit.

This is so dumb that I must assume that it is bait. You put Bastion, a character which most people regard negatively, and Widowmaker, a character which the majority of Widowmaker players cannot play correctly and hence negatively viewed, as being great tier. Those two are but examples of how poorly this ranking was done.

What the fuck is that?

Is that actually the final design for a character? Because that looks fucking godawful. Whoever designed it should be fired and made fun of.

That's solely aesthetics based. I would've posted something else but that was the only comparison pic I had on hand.

...

have you watched the gameplay

i literally see nothing wrong with this game. the designs are mostly 8-9/10, benedict / alani are 10/10, the gameplay looks like a fun version of moba (which are hampered by a shitty WC3 interface and one map)

ALL UNITS BE ADVISED, NIGGERS ARE TONGUING MY ANUS

this meme isn't even funny at this point
it's badly written ironic misogyny

Why this thread is still not dubsbombed?

only one mode is MOBA, the game is far less sjw than borderlands and seems better than overwatch in that regard, and it literally has one furry character

fuck off, Orendi is waifu material

doesn't she have the tiny tina voice?

alani is literally best girl though, "genital dysphoria until i realized god gave me dick to fuck alani" tier

Fuck off Stillborn shill.
You and your handlers deserve to die.

Not even gfur can save buttborn, I'm sorry OP

have you watched the gameplay
man it looks fucking great.
the writing isn't even that bad, i watched a no-commentary montana vid for like 20 mins, looked like a good game. some cringey shit admittedly but most was decent or chuckleworthy

Does stillborn even have porn to post?

How much are you being payed?

oh hey, a battleborn thread

i've already played through it enough to get bored of it

where did this battleborn is bad meme even come from
it looks FUN

how many hours?
also new maps coming out thursday according to the subreddit, and some kind of dlc lizardman according to a friend

i got the game purely for the coop, which is the only real thing that this game has over all of the other ASSFAGGOTS and tf2 clones

i played the hell out of it, and it was a good time while it lasted, but i've got the impression that gearbox isn't entirely sure how to keep the game from going the way of evolve

DLC-wise, pendles the one-eyed snek assassin is going to be coming out the next few weeks or so, which is cool, but i'm looking more forwards to the coop DLC

the first new mission is going to focus on attikus' and his lore

to add on to my post, i'd recommend the game only if you were looking for a bit of some replayable coop

the multiplayer's a bit up in the air, it depends on the experience you're looking for

so co-op is actually good? i've heard a lot of people shit on it, though presumably most of those people have never played the game.

it's reassuring that i've heard good things from every confirmed owner i've talked to.

how ARE matchmaking times on PC? i've heard they can take up to ten minutes. too poor for a functioning PC anyway, so I went with the PS4 version which apparently has much better matchmaking times but some lag on one of the maps

Well, that's the thing, I got the game for the coop because that's what I like in a game.

The coop is quite replayable. Increasing the difficulty in the options or with more players will not make enemies stronger, but instead add more of them.

As of right now there are three coop mission types: Defense, escort, and raid. Defense is self explanatory, you're protecting an objective from waves of enemies. Escort is similar to defense, but the objective is moving. Raid's my favourite, where you just run through the level and fight a series of monsters and minibosses, evade traps, and then fight a big boss at the end.

All coop modes have treasure chests and secrets that are somewhat dynamic (they spawn in different spots each playthrough), and a few select treasure chests and enemies can actually drop borderlands-style loot, which takes the form of a stat modifier for your hero (+7% to skill damage, or +100 to health combined with -100 to shields, that sort of thing).

One of the things I enjoyed is that you can bring certain characters into a mission and they'll have a chance to alter the dialogue and change what's said.

For the few times I did multiplayer, queue times weren't bad, but I have heard a lot of horror stories from other PC players. Gearbox is experimenting with different ways to keep the queue times under control, though with the player count being where it is, I'm not hopeful. I can't even find full coop games anymore.

I don't know what the PS4 playerbase is like. I'm wondering if you might've picked the game up a bit too late. Doesn't help that the game's also by Gearbox, of all devs…

CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW

Gay furshit can't save anything.

FEMINISM IS AWESUM XDD
ITS FINE CUZ ITS IRONIC! LOL
MEMELANDS MEMEMEMEMEMEME

Damn, that's informative though. I had no idea it had so many PVE modes. That's definitely a plus. I assumed it was just campaign + multiplayer.

Probably should have looked it up more, but between the few vids I watched looking good, designs looking great, and me having a great history with Gearbox (presumably because I haven't played Colonial Marines) I had more than enough reason to want it.

Every source I've heard from says PS4 is around a 5 minute fill average, and that's with ranking. On PC they had to disable ranking because of low playercount. Plus apparently it sold a ton more.

Either way I guess they'll probably have to go F2P by 2017 at this rate, though I don't mind paying 40$ to play early. If I'd known it'd take half a fucking month off Amazon I would've just shilled out the extra 20. Maybe even get the digital deluxe.

JIDF ALERT, JIDF ALERT, JIDF ALERT

There's currently 8 PvE missions: 3 defense, 3 raid, and 2 escort.

I just happened to see the game on steam when it was doing its free early access weekend.

I never liked Gearbox, but the gameplay was good enough for me to look the other way.

Word of warning, I don't trust Gearbox's judgment at all for this game. They've already nerfed a lot of legendary equipment into the ground due to possible PvP abuse, but this also bleeds into PvE as well. The game also already has cosmetic microtransactions. The whole thing just stinks of a second Evolve, enjoy it while you can.

The character says that when he kills a woman, but it's not like anyone would have the patience to figure that out

I'm surprised more people aren't ripping on the robot that identifies as a spider

I KNOW ITS IRONIC! XDD I JUST SAID IT FAM
that totally makes it not fucking retarded LOL

I'm glad to have stayed away from the game because of really fucking horrible performance issues on AMD cards in the beta.

What? It's actually pretty smart line for a Gearbox-game, as in it recognizes that if feminism is about true equality, you have to accept that then women will get shot, stabbed and blown up like men.

Here's food for thought: why does Overwatch get a free pass for similar flaws that Battleborne and Evolve got?

...

yes, mate. there's plenty of reasons to hate gearbox. labeling ironic misogynist jokes as feminist isn't helping your case here.

i (681) wasn't saying it was bad. i was disagreeing with these retards.

it's ironic (actually, satire is probably more accurate) because he's making fun of feminism, like how SANIC is meant to poke fun at sonic being autistic.

oh wow fam I guess feminism is actually awesum :) what a twist :3

What flaws were those? I'm not saying that Overwatch doesn't have flaws, but what flaws does it have in common with Battleborn and Evolve?

From what I've seen it looks like they really did right with the gameplay and character designs, then fucked up all of the polish.

They DID say they put more money into this than any of their their projects. It could be they went severely over budget and had to fix things up as much as possible as quickly as possible.

It would be, if it actually were about equality and not the shitshow that it really is, otherwise people wouldn't be seeing it as an avenue with which to attack the game

Because it's a facebook-tier press-A-to-awesome "game" with just as little actual content, yet sold at full price.

Fucking awesome argument, buddy! I'm sure you understood perfectly what I was saying. Here's a metal for you.

...

lack of content, SJW bullshit, poor character design, microtransactions, lack of game balance
those are what i can think of

TF2 > BB > OW
in terms of aesthetics. TF2 really nailed it, being cartoonish enough to be memorable without completely abandoning realism. Battleborn is very memorable but fucks up sometimes due to how crazy they tried to make characters.

Overwatch, on the other hand, tries to be cartoonish, except at the same time they try to be serious cartoonish and try not to take any design risks, and so half the cast are boring garbage. Even the good ones (ie Tracer) are "objectively" good, in that you can't find any flaws but at the same time you wouldn't want to play as them. Kind of like mario 3D land

scroll up faggot. it has a full PVE mode that user got 250 hours on, and a full PVP mode to boot
that's miles more than Overwatch has
overwatch is 40$ for what was obviously an F2P game. battleborn is (now) 40$ for what was obviously meant to be a 60$ game

overwatch is 40$ for what was obviously an F2P game. battleborn is (now) 40$ for what was obviously meant to be a 60$ game

Who the fuck cares, they're both shitty games.

Whoops, I meant

for

I was talking about Overwatch.

I'm guessing that Overwatch was what Blizzard managed to salvage from their cancelled Project Titan, and was originally meant to be much larger in scope.

The things you had mentioned are definitely issues, but I'm not sure how they tie into Battleborn. The two games just happened to come out around the same time, with Blizzard having more money, marketing, and the fans to back it.

If anything, Overwatch shares more issues and similarities with TF2. I imagine there's quite a lot of games where a player would rather pick a sniper instead of a class that's actually needed to take the objective. Not to mention players who leave mid-game. Throw matchmaking in there and that just complicates things even further.

If only we could see the game that Overwatch was meant to be, rather than as a continuation of TF2.

at least you can see your feet

pretty epic ftw if you ask me

What the fuck was that bullshit meme about the UI being cluttered? It's looked fine in every actual screenshot / video I've seen.

it's funny how every major complaint about Battleborn is fucking bullshit

like there's a lot of actual reasons to complain about it from what I've seen. the previously mentioned lack of polish is one

but

oh wait, it's not
looks better than OW and good on its own desu
satire that amounts to misogyny more than anything else
this one's semi true, but only on PC

I think it's more the visual effects in the game, coupled with some of the weapon viewmodels.

A lot of the effects are hand-drawn. They're pretty vibrant and can really cloud up the screen. Just look at the webm in and imagine ten players doing that at the same time in a match.

It's a perfect example of overdesign. The character is interesting enough to carry itself without such drastic element. It doesn't look natural/ergonomic.

my only complaints with battleborn are the absurd price tag and gearbox. i dont know enough about the game to criticize its gameplay or balance, and i was kind of looking forward to it as what might have been a sucessor to super monday night combat until i learned it would be 60 bucks

you want to downplay the wings in a bird character? you dont know whats good at all

How much are you paid per hour?

No, the replacement. The thing that looks like it was ripped from heavy machinery. The wings should've been left natural and perfectly symmetrical. I think the rocket launcher is assymetry enough, but if they wanted to push it, they should've put some sort of minor detail in the suit instead.

I don't know what's up with the wing, but you can sometimes hear him yelling about it in multiplayer, while on the verge of tears

Some of the characters are aware of how ridiculous they are and comment on it during the game

Keep trying Queerbox shill.

it's a much better value than Overwatch, though, user……
and you can find it for 40$ standard now everywhere, less maybe locally

...

i've never seen someone shill this transparently.

i didn't even know gearbox had enough money to pay a shill after stillborne's failure.

what i'd really like to see is people finally realize overwatch is stale, boring garbage and battleborn to emerge as the victorious underdog with it's actually interesting character designs and deep gameplay

It makes it look like he should be leaning to one side because of heavy they made it look.

Having a big shoulder pad on one side would be fine, but that thing is massive, unnecessary and looks like shit.

You do it for free?

i guess, in any rational environment montana would be an abomination but he works because "it looks cool"

i need to vent my BB hype while amazon takes HALF A GOD DAMN MONTH to get my game here

oh, sorry. guess i gotta work on that reading comprehension. im assuming that it also functions as some sort of weapon though. but i really dont know shit about the game other than that i want to plow the witch girl.

well if the game is dead its not worth the 40 either. they really shot themselves in the foot charging that much for a moba.

yeah, if you get it you'd be much better getting it on consoles
PS4 has the largest community, only -number- i've seen has been 170k off vgchartz, compared to 100k on xbone and 50k on PC
anecdotal evidence supports this

...

someone up there really doesnt want me to lay a finger on this game.
i have a ps4 for weebshit but theres hardly a chance ill play an fps on it, especially if i have the option to play it on pc.

Or…. Battleborn PS4 player counts because ps4 has no games

you gotta take into account the number of people who still play the game, not just the owners

steam charts is reporting 200 players on PC right now, no clue about PS4

It's fine that you want to try, I just want to make sure that you're aware of what you might be getting into here

yikes, i hope they dont axe the game for the ones that do enjoy it. i kinda miss dawngate

H-how?

That's true, sure, but one of the main reasons PC is dying out is that it has a low playerbase. Most people don't want to sit through 10 minute matchmaking or whatever. PS4 had a much higher installbase which means there was likely much less reason for a lot of players to leave.

All I've heard about PS4 is that it has 2-5 minute wait times usually and a lot of new players are being spotted.

isn't it like 4 am on the mainland

So I've actually played the game, during launch week only though, and I'll talk a bit about what I've been through.

Overall:

Co-op

PvP

TL;DR: It has a big, locked away, roster with too many characters filling the same role with one objectively better pick. Co-op is kind of fun, but you could get a similar experience from Warframe, which is a free game. PvP is like the bastard child of TF2 and Dota, with most of the bad aspect and very little of the good, I'd rather just play on a RPG server on TF2/CS and get, basically, the same game.

Sounds like they could turn it into somewhat successful title with a relaunch if they really put their heads and effort into it. They should have decent amounts of money in the bank after Boredlands.

I think the biggest issue for the normalfag-market is that it does kinda look like a clusterfuck. Lot of the models just don't read that well.

the lack of polish implies to me that they went over budget, since the base game seems so good

That exploit got fixed the second week because muh consoles exactly. They ignored the fact that in PC you can with the sniper aim better.
Its one of the problems of Battleborn, they balance for consoles and PC, the sniper is shit on consoles and he's godlike in PC, if you nerf him because of PC he's useless in consoles, if you buff him there'll only be sniper on PC.

Most of the complains have been fixed.

I'll put a jack frost so some anons will know who I am if you have been on previous Battleborn threads.

Now, I have explained many times the good shit and the bad shit of battleborn and I always said the same, even when I loved the game, I never recommended it.

Why? Well, the game can be fucking great, but when you have a playerbase that at peak time can't even reach 900 players you start to worry. When you open any que to play PvP, you stay there, forever.
Because of how fucked the matchmaking is thanks to the lack of players, the matchmaking threw out of the window levels and ELO of players and just tries to find you a match as soon as possible, and even with that, it can takes L I T E R A L H O U R S, and when it does it's always people that started the game and have no fucking idea with Max level premades stomping everything because "fun".

This week we are getting a big fucking patch with new maps, improved loot, more balance yadda yadda: this will bring some players back or so I hope to the point that people will be able to fucking play the game instead of a que simulator.

Even with this big patch, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE GAME because I don't know how many players will this patch bring. Maybe it will bring a thousand, maybe it will bring one hundred, maybe noone will come because they don't give a shit about the game anymore, like 2K gave 0 shits about marketing the game

Is the game good? For what it is, yes, an ASSFAGGOTS first person which actually requires skill obviously less skill than any arena shooter but you get my drill
Is it worth it only for the story coop? No
Is it worth it right now? No, que times that never ends.
Is the Story/Campaign good? It's decent and in coop is better, instead of multiplying HP pools of enemies they increase the number of them. Shit gets crazy and fun, however the story is way too short and you can end it in one or two days.
Is it SJW? No, in fact it send punches to the radical left.
Is the dialogue good? Its half and half, some characters have great dialogue with great lines and great voice acting, then you have abominations that makes you open the Options menu and put the character's voice to 0.

mulbruk is superior

You are going to post the whole thing, aren't you?
At least post the sauce

No

based

i weep tears for my PC brethren pre-emptively

Fuck off nigger, the only good design is the Mushroom assassin.

see

tbh montana might even be a great
that's solely appearance-wise so far, once i actually GET THE FUCKING GAME i'm going to re-order it

im kind of happy to hear 11 year old girls are in to game design these days. good for them

You should probably kill yourself if you think that, and the rest of the designs for that matter most of are "good" or above, or are on the same level as literally any Overwatch character. And I don't even like Overwatch.

...

dude
montana would be great
his head is a bit too small
if it were 50-100% larger it'd be a definite great

have you seen roadhog's outie bellybutton? shit is hideous, and it doesn't even fit. like the whole game is "realistically cartoony" but then we have… this guy

He's husbando material visually, but I'm scared to listen to his dialogue. I know Gearbox will ruin this for me with their shit character writing/performances.

No he wouldn't because his proportions are fucking retarded even if he had a bigger head. There's a fine line where "big muscular guy" becomes ridiculous, and this fuck is nowhere near that line. And like I said, none of the characters in the "good" section are remotely close to good, and those in the "decent" section aren't even remotely decent.

For the record, I wasn't sure whether or not to say "every character sans Roadhog or Lucio".

You should know how fucked the game is, user.

...

HOL UP
When the fuck was this?

Shit, forgot my sage

Yeah, his voice really wasn't something I expected…

you do realize it was supposed to be ridiculous, right

AFAIK they didn't actually make Duke. they just took what 3D realms had, finished it up, and released it

it makes sense since it's such a far cry from their usual gameplay.

uh
what
i meant is me

...

Benedict is my main even mate. He's great.

However all his taunts are Pop / Meme culture with those shitty dances except one where he pukes a literal rocket slowly.

It's not a popular character because he has the lowest HP pool of all to balance his insane rocket launcher damage which can crit if you rocket-to-the-face, he is also an easy target to spot when he shoots from the air, it's just better to not shoot while in the air and drop like a kamikaze and melee rocket everyone releasing all your rockets in their faces. He always melt anyone 1v1 doing that before he dies, even most tanks.

That's what kills it for me. I can't do it. It's like when the actors asked the director what their character's mindset was, they were all told the exact same thing.
Gameplay is different between them, but the characters all feel the same. Overwatch does that right. For as colorful a game as Battleborn is, the personality of the entire game is flat.

No shit retard.

The problem is that Pitchford got his greedy claws onto Douk with lawsuits and now is trying to sue anyone with a previous contract so he can have complete control over the IP.
Fuck him.

I personally like three of his four base taunts. They are pop culture except one that is a shit meme that gives me cancer.

And I personally use this one, vid related. I dont like that skin though but its the only video I could find

The characters in Battleborn are not flat by no means, they have enough voice lines to fill 25 or more minutes.
No character felt the same to me.

this quality post
CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW

battleborn is such a stupid fucking mess
I have an amd card so i dont even get 1fps per dollar spent
people realized this was a mistake with sf4 vanilla. that game was released like during the bush adminstration holy fuck
every goddamn character has a facial expression that looks like they had a lemon squeezed up their asses.

as a whole its a bigger disaster than the italian military

Shame about the game, because that's a pretty neat design.

Yeah, it works in theory, but they really went off with the over-the-top goofiness.

He honestly looks like someone had scaled his head down as a joke and some director decided it's official.

Not specifically the taunts, but the dialogue itself. I haven't played the game, but I've spent a lot of time listening to the dialogue on YouTube and everyone has the same personality and means of expressing themselves. It's loud, it's boisterous, it's manic, which is great in moderation, but everyone acts and talks the same. For me, personally, it just turns into noise, and nothing ends up standing out with their character.
But that's just me, and I haven't played the game at all, so I may be wrong, and won't rag on people for enjoying something they find enjoyable. And at the very least I have Benedict.

STOP IT user IT'S TOO MUCH

Its not as noisy as you would expect.
The game is actually good, but I cannot recommend it my man, its quite dead.

If this post survives for the patch of this week I'll check how many players it brought and see if it's worth it.

One thing is talking about something you enjoy and another lying about something that you enjoy, and I won't lie.

It'll probably go f2p like evolve or die.

I hope so, even if I bought the game I just want to play it.

Going F2P would let me play it, meanwhile right now I cant play it due to the lack of players.

They should just go F2P as soon as possible and give some shit for those who bought the game

with pc that's definitely likely, though with PS4's playerbase actually expanding that may be put off for a while. going F2P on PC but not on PS4 would be inconsistent

what. it's far better than overwatch's grindwall progression system

OP, did you know this was coming?

saging for totally unrelated but if you wanted to post more egyptian/roman/greek cat goddesses i wouldn't stop you

Well, that's a godsend for PC players. Sounds like they need it.

Why aren't YOU getting Battleborn and The Pre-Memequel for only 15$?

Who said I aren't?

Okay user.

For that price the game is worth it since we're getting a big patch tomorrow.

However, if this big patch doesnt bring anyone, its not worth a single cent mate.

isn't the big patch supposed to be new maps
either way it's worth 15$ IMO. i just paid 40$ for it on PS4 a few days ago. and the pre-sequel is worth a playthrough or two

Because it's not the Pre-Sequel with all its DLC included, no way am I paying $15 or any money for that. If it was the game and all DLC, we might have a deal.

Not sure what the DLC situation is with Battleborn but that in-game currency does not bode well.

borderlands has a season pass and apparently also some skins

to be fair, IIRC it didn't -launch- with skins, it was a reaction to the poor sales. as opposed to overwatch which was always going to be F2P, but blizz realized they coudl get people to pay shekels for it

fuck i meant battleborn, god

Brown is the perfect skin color tbh
I want to be brown ;_;

my arms & neck are brown.

wanna fuck?

Only in 2D.
Brown 3D is even more PD than usual.

Yeah I assumed you meant Battleborn, understandable mistake.

Anyway, that means the top tier is TWO game with extra DLC not included, which means it's double no deal for me. Sell me the entire game in one purchase or no deal at all is my rule.

My dick is 3D you know

b-but, battleborn's season pass is only 20$….
and you get all sorts of other stuff……

So a total of $35? For a game that's way more multiplayer-focused than I even want? And I gotta break my all-or-nothing rule? No thanks. At the rate Battleborn is tanking it'll get a definitive version in a price range I think it's worth soon enough. And if not, very little loss.

user…. 250-hours-kun played SP / co-op almost exclusively…….

>IT'S ALREADY IN A HUMBLE GOY BUNDLE

POST YFW

if you're taking success as a measure of quality, then CoD / Pokemon Go / Candy Crush are some of the greatest games ever made

Success nowadays is all about marketing and how you can make a game more casual in order to invite newer players.

precisely
battleborn's failure was due to no marketing and releasing so close to overwatch
considering they spent more on it than any of their other games and virtually nothing on marketing, i'd think that's another point for my "they went way over budget" theory

Holy shit it actually is

So what was supposed to be so "outrageous" about Gearbox suing 3DR for trying to make a DNF game? They got the IP with DNF and yet 3DR tried to go behind their backs and make another game anyway.

After the shitshow that was Forever it's not like they even have a "moral ownership" of the series given how much shit they pulled.
