Dead Rising on PC

archive.is/8AaJC

As someone who tried to get into series through DR2 and didn't liked it very much, can you explain what is the appeal of first game, since I heard a lot that the first one is the best one.

Same shit as the others, hipsters always act like the first game is better

everytime

No

I have no idea. Something about a chevy and an overweight brother.

sure thing buddy

This is great, I always wanted to play this thing since I kind of liked the second but not the third and hear this is the best of the series

...

Is this game any fun or is it like Dying Light / Dead Island?

WEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLL

It's one of the best 3D japanese games ever made.

its literally the worst game ever made.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

HE AIN'T MY BOY BUT THE BROTHER IS HEAVY

GAVE AWAY MY POSSESSIONS AND MOVED INTO A CHEVY-

GAVE AWAY ALL MY POSSESSIONS AND MOVED INTO A CHEVY

VAN, YEAH, THAT'S THE MASTER PLAN

YEAH YEAH
THAT'S THE MASTER PLAN

VAN, YEAH, THAT'S THE MASTER PLAN

DRIVE TO THE WOODS, EATIN' CORN FROM A CAN

The question is: how will they make the game easier for faggots who liked 3 ?

I REALIZE

This is great. I always liked the setting of the first game more but never got to play it because I never got a 360, I even got the god awful Wii version and jesus christ that was a pile of shit.

...

Better plot.

CAUSE I'VE GONE GYARU, SO CUT THE BALLYHOO

ROCK THE TAMBOURINE AND THE DIDGERIDOO

Dead Rising's plot was surprisingly hooking. Really didn't expect it to have a decent story

ROCK THE TAMBOURINES AND THE DIDGERIDOO

Well, these are the replies I come here for every day.

10 years…fuck.

What I want to know is how much they'll change

Why would they change anything in the first place?

Feels fucking good man
and it only took 10 years

these are the real questions

I hope to God they don't change the convicts music

I really hope they won't, but come on, do you really think it's guaranteed that they will just port the game ?
No, they will add an easy mode, dlcs, new hip graphics etc…

...

Well if theres anything that happens these days, publishers can be incompetent by making retarded changes nobody asked for

I hear they're completely removing any type of timer or constraint for DR4, that true? I didn't even feel the timer for DR3 and I think that's the reason why I never even finished the game that and shitty performance

Erotica score pictures are definitely not going to be in the game. If they were smart they'd let it be and ride the outrage all the way to the bank

Removing the timer would kill the game.

I wouldn't be surprised if its not there because they want to attract casuals who are poor at managing time and hate the arcadey feel

But on the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if it is there because "S-S-See, original fans? We put what you liked back in! Play our game please!"

Hey, thats cool. I really liked dead rising. Wasnt a fan of the sequels though. Always nice to see a console exclusive get ported

This is exactly what I was expecting

Mods

Win 10 only I bet.

Just also realized

Yes. They did it with Dragon's Dogma, Deadrising 2, REmake, etc without a hitch. If anything, they could fuck with performance, but even then, today's Capcom ports are fairly well optimized.

The worst case scenario, we'll lose a few tracks, at most.

Did you play Deadrising 2: Off hhe Record?

If they remove the timer they may as well not bother fucking porting it.

I meant for the fourth game that I'm sure will run just as bad as 3.

Oh shit, didn't notice the 4.

...

I recall someone in a previous Dead Rising thread mentioning a new VA and many psychopaths being reworked in order to satisfy today's modern standards. And it's apparently much later in the future but he's back at Willamette and younger than in Off The Record for some reason.

Same thread also mentioned something about removing the timer completely, but I think all of this might've just been speculation versus fact.

Do you think Frank has to pay alimony?

DON'T FUCK WITH MY EMOTIONS LIKE THAT!

please god no

He doesn't look like he has to (Unless Isabella becomes a cunt in the new game)

Chuck though…

50,000 boxes of Zombrex a month.

That stuff is about Dead Rising 4. This port should be fine.

...

I've never played the second one. I've seen enough to know that 3 shouldn't have been made.

Dead Rising 1 was fun but GOOD LORD THOSE LOADING SCREENS.

They'll fuck it up tremendously.

Oh great there is the rulefag that reported another thread and get it locked.
Fucking christ 8ch is so fucking slow, so what if there are a few duplicate threads. We are each discussing something different.

Do you have ptsd?

Are you retarded? Now this thread is dead and the other one is now too even though there was some discussion still going. gg fucking mod

cry some more, bitch nigga

Why would they bother making any significant changes when they can just repack the 360 version and sell it to fags who never touched a 360?

Frank's VA is confirmed replaced. TJ Terotolo has confirmed as much by signing the petition to get him back personally, and chatting with fans on youtube.

They've also removed the time limit, this was confirmed in an article. They want Dead Rising 4 to be a 'personal zombie killing sandbox'.

I didn't hear anything about psychos myself but an user did claim that they saw an interview where they wanted to make the the psychopaths less 'offensive''. Don't know about that, if the psychos aren't over the top and wacky I don't know what you could possibly do with them.

I miss being younger

Didn't they say the timer was on in coop though?
I may have misread it, dunno fam

Dead Rising 1 was so good. I had high hopes for the franchise after 2 but was sad to see it get so generic after 3.

What? That's fucking retarded.

This is not fantastic.

I liked DR 2 (3 was shit though). It had a nice tension exploration going on.

Basically it's a game where you can save everyone you meet, but you have barely the time to do so… so you need to explore, remember shit (path, good weapons, etc), over hours of gameplay.

It makes the exploration rewarding (extra zombrex, very powerful weapons, etc) giving you more time to do stuff BUT at the same time exploration is time consuming.

So that's fucking neat. Same with combat the combat is ok/fun but essentially time consuming, so you have to avoid combat most of the time (which always makes sense in a zombie game)… BUT on other times you can't carry shit and fight/push trough.

All in all it's pretty well balanced. If only they'd mix the base and survivors management system State of Decay, you would have the near perfect Zombie game.

Never played the 1st since it's for console peasants, but the peasants always said it was better than the second.

So that might be a good remake…

Dead Rising 1 was certainly one of the harder games of last generation.

Not my favorite game, but I'll give it another shot once it's on PC.

You can't post that they don't change the music without posting the music!

Don't have the webm of it, so sorry for youtube

Finally, it's not like the game should have been on PC since it came out.

Cliff is best boss, NAME AND RANK, SOLDIER !

Was cliff the guy in the hardware store?

I feel like that's a major mistake.
The game isn't even that long or deep to make a good sandbox play the first time out, but you get a lot out of the content it has because of the impulse to come back and do better with the challenges you've already found and to then go find new things. Kind of like Way of The Samurai.

Underrated post.

...

considering the original is a 360 game this shit better be dx9 if capcom wants any of my xpfag shekels when I get it on sale in a year

I swear, they better change their minds.
Remember when Hitman: Absolution changed Agent 47's VA from David Bateson to some random fuck? There was such a massive fan outcry that the studio actually fired the new VA and hired Bateson again. Maybe something like that will happen here.

What is it about frank that make's him such a fan favorite character over chuck or whoever the fuck was in the 3rd game?

Speaking of the 3rd game, is it any good? Never played it or really know anything about it.

Frank is a Japanese caricature of an innocent and unsuspecting American.

I suspect it's because he pulls off the Dante trick of being cocky and competent without being humorless or edgy or entirely lacking in empathy for others. Chuck is an annoying fucking sadsack that manages to come across as a walking vagina even while mowing down hordes of enemies.

Not to mention that he isn't voiced by run of the mill actors like Troy Boker.

TJ in a way reminds me of whoever voiced James in Silent Hill 2

Guy Cihi. SH2's voice actors also did the mocap for their characters, and the scenes were acted at the same time while recording the audio.
There was a neat SH2 stream with Cihi and David Schaufele (Eddie) with Fungo some time ago sadly Fungo constantly fucked it up by interrupting the insights of the stream's guests. It was mildly infuriating

Chuck comes off as being grumpy all the fucking time. Granted, his life kinda sucks with his dead wife and daily zombrex.

I didn't mind Chuck, despite being kind of mopy I really liked his relationship with Katey. He's a sympathetic character, though they should have played up the silly puns he makes sometimes.

I don't know what the hell Capcom was thinking to not bring back TJ with 4, but at the same time do a port of 1 with Frank's original actor. Unless they're gonna do some sort of "Frank in DR4 is an imposter" story I'm turned off, especially since outside of adding more it seems they learned nothing from DR3

What gets me is how mum they're being about the switch. People have been badgering them for weeks about the VA switch which says to me that they're either

A:Bringing back TJ and want it to be a surprise

or

B:Doing some kind of retarded MGS:V twist with him, seeing how he looks completely different. I doubt it though, seeing how much they're hyping up the 'return of Frank West'.

I think they're just hoping they can get away without casting TJ in the role for whatever reason. Devs seem to love changing iconic VAs for shitty generic sounding ones. The dude doing the voice work for nu-Frank sounds like some kind of Troy Baker knockoff.

This is just a remaster, not a remake, hopefully it's just the 360 version with the DLC, bug fixes, 60fps, and all the licensed music

I bloody hope so, otherwise i'll be that quake game

Since nobody else has posted it yet

Lifeseeker is so hit or miss.
They've got some good songs, and some really bad ones.
I like this one though, it's an instrumental. It kind of reminds of me early Metronomy.

It's essentially Dawn of the Dead's basic premise in game form with a different specific plot.

Go around a mall killing zombies? Check.
Fight a psycho clown? Check.
Kill things with a shit ton of weapons? Check.
Steal everything that isn't nailed down? Check.

The second game added in a bunch of extra, annoying shit that wasn't necessary and wasn't >fun. You don't need to babysit an infected little girl in the first game. You DO need to juggle survivors if you want the good ending, and that can be a little annoying, but they're not THAT bad when you consider how old this game is.

I spent countless hours on the original Dead Rising. I was borderline obsessed with it. I plan to get it the second it drops on PC. Though, I will admit that I stopped playing the DR games after DR2. But after seeing DR4 announced I decided to change that.

I just got DR2: OTR the other day and I plan to play DR3 soon. Does anyone know if there's any content missing from DR3's PC release? I know the Xbone got a special release with an obnoxiously long name that had all the content present, but I don't think that came to PC, did it?

Picture unrelated.

The first was made by nips who got their credit taken by a gook producer that did jackshit but pay for everything with his gookgold.

All of the sequels are made by canucks who don't have the authorization to use the thousand-folded nippon steer engine, shat on the humor of the previous series with their canuck crap, and basically only knew how to make the game by playing the first, and nothing else.

The first one is really the only good one. Have a webm.

That made me nostalgic for so many different reasons. Thank you for that.

Skip it, honestly.
You're better off not playing it.

Was it THAT bad?

How could they fuck up such an easy premise? Kill zombies with household shit, put on weird outfits, make homages to as many cult classics as possible in the process, and try to make the plot and environments kind of interesting. That's all they needed to do. You're telling me they couldn't pull that off?

You're welcome.

Don't even pay attention to the third game. It's not worth any of your time. The developers just took everything new for the sequel, and focused entirely on that as their new "vision" for the series.

Reminder that Inafune was responsible for handing the series to a western developer.
Reminder that Inafune did the same to Lost Planet.
Reminder that Inafune cancelled Megaman Legends 3.
Reminder that Inafune was the one behind the DmC reboot.
Reminder that Inafune was pushing against Monster Hunter english releases.
The list goes on.

I think we all should thank Capcom for fucking up Umbrella Corps and SF5, without these we would never get this game on modern platforms.

Post your bet what cashgrab re-release they going to do next.
Aside from some Dreamcast exclusives, I wouldn't mind to see Veronica and Outbreak re-releases, Dino Crisis perhaps as well

day1

canada cucks with little japanese influence.

capcom wants DR to be one of their western games when it's eastern element is what makes it so appealing.

So this is a Playstation™ 4 (greatness awaits™) exclusive (also available on PC and Xbox™ One)

Funny you say Dawn of the Dead when pic related is one of the covers for the original game

first game had a cool protag and some neat stuff, but 2 was more refined gameplay wise

one also had a "take pictures get XP" system and no "get meds for little girl" bullshit

some prefer one, some prefer 2

never played three

Chuck had a hard life.

Best theme coming through.

What modern standards? Oh wait, let me guess, references right? Oh I see it now, for example, Jo goes from a crazy fat dyke, into a fat crazy redneck, and all of the hostages are blacks right? Adam is a living breathing meme machine, Steven is a video game store owner and he is a "nerd" too, and he captures Isabela because he is a "misogynist", and throughout the entire battle he spouts even more memes, this time game related. The Hall family is now just another liberal ad for gun control.

I love taking photos in Dead Rising, no idea why. Half the fun of OTR for me was trying to get better and better photos of my co-op partner doing shit.

I wish more games had such a system.

He's talking about the sequel, user.

Not the remake.

Dodged a bullet there then.

Not really, cause you're still a faggot.

I'm pretty happy that this is gonna happen. My 360 died a while ago and Dead Rising was my favourite game on it. After the clusterfuck that was Dead Rising 3 I was really aching for some good old DR1 gameplay. I don't know why but the game hits all the right notes for me, the sequels kept adding stuff but I always found that the first one got almost everything right.

I fucking hate Dead Rising.

I don't think I've ever tried so hard to like a game and ended up getting so mad at it. It just pisses me off because it has so many ideas that SHOULD be good and it's just a pain in the ass to play.

I remember spending hours upon hours trying to get a small group of survivors past the jeep psychos that you had no way to avoid and were a royal pain in the ass to kill. I remember all the shit escort quests failing because of the random moments of uber retardation by the already painfully retarded AI. I remember that annoying nigger calling you every ten seconds in the worst possible situation and never even telling you anything useful. I remember the most nonsensically cheap bullshit bosses with super armor and twelve gorillion HP that you had to outcheap in the most tedious ways possible. I remember having to go through the same area over and over and over again to get anywhere. I remember all the cool weapons that broke after a few hits. I remember how awkward and unresponsive every single action in this game is and how that made everything that should be fun into a frustrating and repetitive chore.

Because you have a working brain, and feel right relief from mounting any difficulties that the game presents you with, unlike the homo below you, who probably couldn't complete Dark Souls, and stands as the reason most games are easy as shit, today.

It has some good ideas, the problem is that they slapped a Walking Dead filter over it, its not well optimized, and some of the challenge has been removed from the game.

fuck the Bone really has nothing left does it?

All of it is gone.

The fact you can just nick any Wunderwaffen out of the closet makes shit way too goddamn easier than the first game, where you at least had to go scouting, and make room for the mini-saws, with all the books that help them.

I hope that the least good they do for the game is add a hardcore mode that combines the Infinity and 72 hour gamemodes, or at least a mod comes out for such a thing, similar to Long War, for NU-X-COM.

Also, they ripped off MGS3, and nobody cared.

Kill yourself.

trolling

I've always had a soft spot for older entries in series'

Not even first ones. First ones just resonate with me as comfy and nice usually but there are plenty of times I'd rather play a sequel instead, like Kirby Super Star over Dream Land 1.

The point of the post was to call you a casual by saying you can't even beat a game like Dark Souls, you dense fuck.

Most of what I mentioned had little or nothing to do with skill you retarded monkey.

You know, I'm going to give all enemies 10 times the HP and hyper armor in my next game and market it as hurrrrrcore. That way tryhard cumguzzling fucktards like you will defend it religiously no matter how many problems it has.

You're very gullible.

I was implying that first, by saying he couldn't beat it, you denser fuck.

Sounds like you can't beat DaS, then. DeS would certainly kick your ass, since that's now the case.

First one generally has better psychopaths. On the whole though, the series is pretty much the same in terms of gameplay.

Story is nothing to write home about. It's okay and it doesn't really get in the way of the game.

I'd only get it if it's cheap. Quite an old game now, anything more than $20 is a rip off.

You're confusing me with the other shitposter who can't format for shit.

I was pointing out your gullibility, though.
Boy. Everyone is stupid, except me.

Now I know 2 didn't have that great of fights, but did they have good choice of music?

I'm glad this is coming to the PC. Played the shit out of it when it came out.

Enjoy some 10 year old game footage of mine.

You really ougth to

GIT

FANTASTIC

Your original post was about you bitching about nonsense because you couldn't kill the convicts Who literally spend about half their time crashing into trees and being stuck, so they're more or less a non-threat to anybody who knows how to walk in a straight line or dodge And whining about how shit you are at escorting the survivors. Here's a pro tip, dipshit, if you're escorting a group and the convicts are in the way, stay INDOORS you colossal faggot.

Depends on whether or not you like Celldweller. Since he composed pretty much all of Dead Rising 2's soundtrack outside of a few metal songs.

I liked "Own Little World" and "Switchback"… might have pleb taste…

Sync's off.

Speaking of the DR2/OTR sountracks, is there any doubt that the TIR theme was heavily inspired by Smackdown's 2nd intro theme?

Own Little World is a bit grating to me, but I like Switchback. If you don't listen to much Celldweller, check out some other songs. Symbiont, Ghosts, and Shapeshifter are decent. The entire Black Star album is also weird and catchy but I don't know if I'd call it good. I enjoy it, though.

Sage for not Dead Rising.

...

That's actually kind of a cool idea. Why is Frank so young? Why does Frank sound different?

VENOM FRANK

More games should do this, I think.
Why be disappointed at a AAA soft reboot of a beloved franchise when you can just remake the old games straight up?

That guys mouth is fucking gigantic

That's where the music is coming from.
The jeep actually has no stereo.

it was a leak, so it might have been a placeholder model for the actual main character.

...

That's just proper research, on their part, since most Mongoloids (i.e. spics) possess the physical capability to unhinge their jaws, for the purposes of both mass consumption, and general intimidation.

I've been looking into getting a PC now that I'm not a NEET anymore, so I asked my friends for some good parts. I could use a second opinion on what he picked

I thought it was due to him starring in Eastern Promises.

a single 970 probably doesn't warrent an i7 but if you really want one, go with the 4790k.
cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-4790K
otherwise, you can save a hundred bucks by buying the i5 6600K which is only barely worse than the i7 6700k

Actually spics are a Mongoloid/Caucasoid mix.
Can confirm about the unhinging though.

The guy who leaked it on halfchan before E3 said there was a ton of things they are keeping hidden like it might be a "movie" and you play as the actor playing Frank for the first part. While the Co-Op campaign is also an entire different story featuring past protagonists from the DR series.

It's weird because they brought in TJ to do new dialog for the SDRTEX+@ DLC as well. I smell a deliberate ruse cruise by Capcom and not Konami bullshit. Especially since Capcom's at SDCC this weekend.

Gif source: The Taking of Deborah Logan (2014)

I don't want to play as Nick

This is gonna be like L4D2 with Rochelle all over again

Dead Rising 1 had the best story, atmosphere and characters, Off the Record had the best gameplay.

Awesome! I liked them all sans the third. Just couldn't enjoy the MC 9 the third game :/

...

This is pretty much true
The first game is fucking awful. The second one improves upon everything except the characters. The weapons are shit tier, camera gimmick wears thin and the AI is absolutely retarded.
Not even mentioning the genuinely insane design decisions like respawning psychopaths and how you cannot move while talking to your nigger slave.

The original is a game for those who enjoy a frustrating challenge with a lot of quirks and a great atmosphere.
DR2 is heavily casualized and lacks a big chunk of the flavour that made the original stand out.
For example I find that the access to overpowered weapon is far too high in DR2.. Forcing you to use more improvised weaponry that you find on the spot adds to the desperate atmosphere of a zombie outbreak while also adding the comedy of dismembering zombies with everyday objects. Even if you would run out of overpowered combo weapons in DR2 you can be sure that there's something wacky and hilarious for you to pick up nearby, just screaming at you that the devs tried really hard.

Saving people in DR1 is a lot more fun and rewarding than in DR2 because of them being retarded.

Never played the dead rising series. What is wrong with combo weapons?

The weapons in DR1 felt useful compared to the base weapons in DR2/3, and the whole not being able to attack while being called was only removed in OTR.

I'll give you the shit AI though, that was one thing that really annoyed me in the original especially when there's the cultists and convicts around. But that's part of what made it fun, how brutally hard it was.

I heavily disagree, the vast majority of weapons in DR1 are incredibly satisfying to use. From the basic baseball bat to the two handed chainsaw, everything has a great deal of weight, good sound effects, and are incredibly satisfying to smash zombie heads in with.

While I don't think it's necessarily what makes the game great it's a neat little gimmick that I was sad to see get axed out of the sequels. Trying to take the perfect picture adds a nice little bit of challenge to the game.

Agreed

Factually incorrect. You can move, you can also cancel out the convo to attack or do whatever.

Dead Rising 2 is a decent game and a good attempt at remaining faithful to what made Dead Rising1 good, but it in no way surpasses the original. The fact that these newer sequels have dropped everything that made the DR formula so special goes to show that the new devs have no idea what they're doing anymore and just want to make Saints Row but with zombies.

...

Confirmed for newfag who's first foray into the series was a sequel.

Are you autistic, there's nothing wrong with any of those.

Combo Weapons make the game way too goddamn easy, as is. At least in Dead Rising, you had to kill the clown, to get the best weapon, in the game.

>>>/4chan/

This sounds…too cool to be real. The only game I know that tries to mislead audiences like this is the MGS series. I'm actually interested in what's going on here. I have full support for Venom Frank.

But I really doubt that's the case and they just changed the protagonist to be a generic gruff quip Troy Baker again for the sake of appealing to casual audiences who want no timer and just want to X and see the zombies go poof.

It's made by the same NACucks who made the third game, so it's very unlikely.

You should really take his advice, and stick to 4chan. It's more of your thing.

Don't do it user, I implore you.

What do you consider a better option, then?

Wait for all the new stuff to be out mate.
Amd has its rx 480 and rx 490 non reference cards coming out.

Not to mention Nvidia has its new 1060, 1070, 1080s.

AMD also has its VEGA line coming out Soon™.

The 3.5 on the 970 is probably going to end up cucking your shit up down the road too, if not immediately.

I really dont understand Nvidia, what is the point of not putting 4gb and 8gb on your cards ? You have to pay an arm and leg to get one of their cards, and they dont even treat you with respect.

...

Its jewery all the way down with vidya cards

This shit better not be Win10 exclusive. Dead Rising is one of my favorite games and it would be a shame if I wasn't able to play it because of something so asinine

Why did best bro Brad have to die?

Its already confirmed it isnt windows 10 exclusive

Oh, awesome. Do you have a source?

The first one was refreshing and goofy, the other games got progressively more serious and shunned their origin. A goofy sandbox survival game. Nostalgiafags will always be nostalgiafags

Then why bother recommending Pepsi?

He had to, because Jesse couldn't, on account of the fact you weren't given "decisions" to make, like who has to watch Doctor Barnaby, because while CAPCOM was doing a lot of things, they couldn't develop an ending for everything. The game was convoluted enough, as is.

If anything, it became the inverse. Dead Rising was always "serious, no matter what", while the Canuck spinoffs took what made the games fun, and put it into the limelight, rather than the horror. You could just go around vanilla, and the game will wack itself up for you, unlike in the original, which wouldn't shove Servbot Masks onto screen, for the sake of "fun".

What?

Its Jewry all the way down, with sodas, but at least with them, you have viable "third options".

Frankly :^), I feel it was the other way around. Dead Rising had a story and setting you could take somewhat seriously, survivors and psychos acting somewhat believably, and the mall was your typical big mall with all the stores and what-not you'd expect. The thing that was really goofy about the game was anything could be a weapon, and you could make frank to be a cross-dressing man-child where no one will bat an eye. You could beat the shit out of zombies by throwing CD's at them, wield toy light swords, etc. The thing is, usually these types of weapons are very unpractical and you are using these as either a last-resort based on where you are in the mall, or you are doing it off your own volition. Being contrasted against such serious circumstances, this is what created the goofy humor.

Now in Dead Rising 2, everything is taken up a notch. Right off the bat you have these sporting events based on who could kill the most zombies, you have these incestuous twins throwing innuendo at you, and Chuck always has a cheesy one-liner for something. A lot of the psycho's are also just Dead Rising 1's psycho's, but more exaggerated and wacky. A chef who cares too much about cooking, a dude in a cartoon suit who took his character too seriously, and then you have shit like some washed-up old star who is trying to make a comeback no matter what and a fat autist kidnapping girls to marry him or slaughter. While the original DR had some wackier bosses like the store manager, the clown, and the fat cop dyke, they were played up for laughs far far less. You can also do dumb shit like play strip poker with other survivors. Then there are the weapons combos. In the original game, the weapons were anything you'd find in a mall, save for the unlock weapons. To get guns, you had to defeat the gun store owner, and that was a really hard fight. In DR2, you have all these zany weapon combos like machine gun teddy bears and boxing gloves with giant claws sticking out. They're dumb and are shit you'd never actually see in such a setting.

You can see the most drastic difference between the original Dead Rising and new Dead Rising by comparing the original trailers or game with the trailer for 4. Compare 'TRAPPED IN A MALL FOR 3 DAYS AND ANYTHING IS A WEAPON. CAN YOU SURVIVE?' with 'FRANK IS BACK, HE'S GOT CANDYCANE CROSSBOWS, HE TAKES SELFIES WITH ZOMBIES, AND HE'S GOT A SUPER TOUGH EXOSUIT. THE MALL IS YOUR PERSONAL ZOMBIE-KILLING PLAYGROUND'

In short, the original DR was a game you could take seriously, but the tone of the game could change based on how you wanted to play it and what you wanted to do. The later Dead Rising games were made by people who had no real understanding of the original's style and just thought is was fun to slaughter zombies and kill 'SO WACKY' bad guys in 'SO WACKY' ways.

You fucking nailed it, mate.

A shame CAPCOM will never fucking learn. This is the second fucking time they've handed one of their flagship series to a group of trans-pacific shits who decide to fuck up everything they did right on purpose.

I doubt they'd learn, if the sales showed people wanting the old one, over the new, again.

This would actually be pretty cool.
If this is the case I have some follow up predictions:

I like to think of Dead Rising 1 as Shaun of the dead, a serious zombie apocalypse but starring a rather comical protagonist, and a few other comical characters to give it some flavor, but the stakes are the same.

Dead Rising 2 is basically if Shaun of the dead was remade for American audiences, now mind you, companies do that, sometimes they think it's necessary to rewrite shows for the American audience as if they were retards and what they tend to do is up the wackiness because unless there isn't a joke in every detail they fear it might not be seen as a comedy, and so everything is so hamfisted that the jokes just drown in a sea of other jokes.

You need to learn the combo weapons/figure them out
To be fair the defiler was broken as fuck and too easy to make

This is hilariously incorrect. Dead Rising 1 took itself pretty seriously, but allowed silly things to happen at the same time. Watch the cutscene where Brad dies with a normally dressed Frank and it's genuinely upsetting, watch it with Frank dressed as Megaman and maybe it's a little silly, but only because the silly outfit takes the limelight.

Dead Rising 2 was a bit more over the top but still had plenty of serious moments, same with Off the Record.

It's the same thing with Saints Row. The original game and it's sequel manage to blend drama and comedy well, but the sequels focus more on the comedy and wind up ruining the tone of the franchise.

I think Dead Rising 2 is a passable sequel to the original game, but it did send the franchise in the wrong direction, and one that seems likely to sink it.

Speaking of…

I think that one was the best when it came to it's setting, story and characters, but 2 was mechanically upgraded in a lot of ways, so if you didn't like 2 you probably wouldn't like 1 either.

I wouldn't exactly call Frank "comical" in anything, but his appearance. To compare a video game where you can be silly, to a film where it is silly, is a bit foolish, to me. The freedom of video games as an entertainment medium allows it to totally encompass any other medium in expression.

Nigger, they're all bullshit. Learning them won't mean jack shit, when the increments are all over the place.

But wasn't Dead Rising 3 dark and gritty with some attempted hyper realistic stuff?
I haven't played DR3 so I can't say I'm as well informed as I would like to be, but weren't the psychopaths in DR3 representations of the 7 deadly sins, aka cruise control for "you should be taking this seriously and reflecting on the nature of mankind".
Based on the footage I saw it looked like they were going for a hyper realistic visuals as opposed to DR2's whimsical visuals.
I have also read that DR3 had themes of authoritarianism vs liberalism, collective safety vs individual freedom and other "deep" shit thats been big in the past 10 years, where as DR2 went for the classic 80s "evil corporation".
Hell, DR2 was an inversion of the Resident Evil games (IIRC there was an interview where it was said that Dead Rising was the result of someone wanting to make a game with slow zombies again), whereas Dead Rising 3 seemed more like Resident Evil 5 with the whole formalized resistance organization bullshit

Hence why I also mentioned figuring them out. Were it not for the fact that the defilers parts can be found right outside the safe house, it would have been more then a great feature in the game.

No, not really, only the art style was bland and grey and uber realistic. Everything else is over the top to the nth degree, so much so that it actually spiraled very far into the other direction.

That's only a fraction of DR3's problems though.

Dead Rising was shit. I hate games with timers.

But on the PC you can cheat.

This is a good feel.

Every goddamned time. This is worse than people defending Fallout 3 and 4, or worse, the Tactics series. The graphics got worse, and the gameplay got worse. Deal with it.

They basically advertised all the useful combos during development, and the fact you can make them before you can even get the card just makes things way too goddamn easy, Prestige bonus, or not.

Shut up, nigger.

It was like Atelier/Lightning returns/Deadly premonition.

I want to explore in peace and do what I want. That's what games are supposed to be about.

...

Same thing happened with Starcraft

However, Sonic never got his old VA back after the 4kids switch.

No, games are a form of human-machine-human interaction. Humans program games to be run on machine to communicate information to people, this is not unlike a television show or a book, both are created by human thought and stored in a physical medium which other humans may use to receive the information that is presented by the creator(s). Like television show, or book, or paintings, or pretty much anything created by humans, there is an intended way to receive that information set forth by the creator(s), receivers do not have to follow the intended methods, but many creators have expressed disappointment or other negative emotions when the information is not received as intended; for example, cow tools, Edmund McMillans reaction to data miners finding the lost, tripping in SSBB as a response to tournament style players of Melee.
That said with games there are generally a wider birth of intended methods of receiving but there is intended difficulty in receiving that information as well.
Other human creations also have intended difficulty, and this is a source of enjoyment for both the creator and the receiving. There is a joy to the experience of someone else "getting" what you are trying to get them to get in the face of difficulty, if you have ever had to speak to someone who has a weak understanding of the tongue you are speaking finally understand what you have been trying to communicate to them.

I feel I may have started to ramble, in short, your tastes are not the universal tastes, and in fact, the way that you want to receive information is inconsiderate to those who create difficult to receive information.

God I miss college

You did do a prop run, eventually. Right?

...

I played the shit out of it every which way. I'll get it again if it means less loading.

I didn't really like any of them except Off the Record for DR2. I'm just glad I didn't get too deep into DR2 first because it's basically the same but with Frank and you don't have to babysit the retarded child.

Nothing looks good, in this engine.

MTF, on the other hand? Drop Dead Gorgeous.

Zombie

Blowjobs

Words can't express how hard I became on my first playthrough when this happened.

They is Nothing Wrong with Dead Rising 2.

The new engine sucks cock in comparison to the Dead Rising 1 engine and the game's way too easy unless you intentionally gimp yourself.

But it's okay as a sequel from an entirely different developer, they at least seemed to get it then.

Aw shit, I still remember seeing the trailer on G4 in the months leading up to release. Hopefully they don't do much aside from make it look pretty. If I had a say in how it went down I'd give it the REmake treatment.

Yeah. It's a pretty good render.

Every fucking time some producer fucks the shit of a beloved franchise up, this phrase just has to be uttered, by somebody.

Why, user? Just why?

Sucks that Zombina's my favorite MonMusu

...

What do you mean? I said it was okay from the standpoint of being handled by an entirely different team who seemed to at least understand some of the core pieces of what made DR1 so good. That being aggressive time management with consequences and a small but highly interactive open world.

I didn't say it was a good thing Dead Rising got handed off to the canucks.

You guys do remember this was an actual thing though, right? Like, the female zombies would all actually go for your junk.

Rachnera is probably best MonMusu

You sound like the fag that said the exact same thing to the people who disliked Nu-DOOM.

Ah, yes. A time when they were more concerned with presentation, like, you know, an old suspense film, rather than today, where they're just trying to dash out what people want, like with new suspense flicks.

If that were the case, I wouldn't be complaining, but it isn't.

They blew a load over making a popcorn game, rather than one for wine, and still are, to this day, going ever farther from what made the original game so great, in the first place.

Not at all unlike what happened to horror films, really, like Godzilla, or Night of the Living Dead.

Jesus if you're gonna pay that much you may as well get the 1060 when the price drops

And you'll want a SSD to put your OS and programs on for supa speed.

Also no ram.

I might get it if they fix the shit survivor AI. Fuck this game was a chore for me to play and I ended up not liking it very much. It had the components of a good game but it wasn't tied together right, kind of hard for me to explain. I think if any of you played it again today you could see all the things that were wrong with it.

You don't watch many horror movies. Do you?

Never change, guys. Never change.

What's the appeal?

It's fun

Why?

You're more retarded than the people arguing about the sequels

Because you get to hit zombies with EVERYTHING, while you do that.

because you don't necessarily NEED to save those jackasses. if you just want a sandbox to wear a mega buster or throw CDs or to ride a tricycle or whatever you can let them die and just play

So, worth a rental for a couple of hours? I'll pass

Wanting to actually beat the game it pretty dumb, right faggot?

Looking at how you act like you're trash at the game, it's the best I can suggest

Good threads sure do attract a lot of faggots.

the cover "art"

Is that seriously going to be the final boxart? That looks like something a 12 year old off DA made

Most multi-game boxes look like that. Square Enix been putting out a shitload of them for the past few years.

The least they could do is make them look good instead of being plain.

Also just noticed Chuck on the cover is from a beta DR2 screenshot instead of the final DR2 cover

There's something very JUST about Old Frank. Can't be the only one thinking this.

Also, word just got through that QLOC is working on the DR port. Is that a good thing, judging by this screen they just released?

Well judging from their history of titles they helped work on, they don't seem too bad.

I wonder what that turbo-autist Stip0's got to say about it. He really tends to over-examine things.

I could have made that and I fucking suck at gimpshop, I wonder how much someone got paid to make it?

They also pay top-dollar to "marketing departments" for the sole-purpose of giving them advice, which basically boils down to Jewry.

If there's one thing DJT says, it's that if you aren't the one giving advice, you aren't the leader. Bunch of headless chickens, these companies are. Minds like oatmeal.

They are a Polish dev that do a lot of ports.

They ported RE6, DMC, RE4 HD, Dragon's Dogma and USFIV to PC.

I can't help but imagine this weakness in leadership leading these companies to decline. It feels like a chicken with it's head cut off; yeah, it's still moving around, but it won't be up for long.

Woah, that is great news. Funny story, back before this game cam out I was in a GameCrazy (rip) and had been thinking that day about how cool it would be to be able to play a game where you could use all sorts of objects as weapons against zombies. And then I look up and there's an ad for a new game called Dead Rising with a guy using a TV for a weapon.
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLL

It's because he hit rock bottom for a bit before getting another big scoop.

Wait. Are these the same Poles they hired to port DMC4, while that horrible excuse of a hack-n-slash game was being made by Ninja Theory?

This is a bold marketing strategy, of theirs. Isn't it? How many series can they simultaneously shit on, and dish out remakes of, until they run out of flagships?

The DMC4 port was in 2008, 2 years before DmC was even a speck in Tameem's eye. The Special Edition of DMC4 was also made after the huge backlash to DmC.

In the end, only the giant jews like Kotick will remain.

I played a couple of those ports, they were good.

Looking forward to the DR1 port now.

Yes, and if I recall, some good anons recommended that we show Capcom how good the old games were, by buying the Special Edition, rather than the new game.

If someone says the same for this new DR, and the port, my (((coincidence))) detector's gonna freak the fuck out.

Don't forget that before the Special Edition, anons made the DMC 1-3 HD Collection outsell DmC for a good couple of months. Capcom has a strategy to try and get out of the holes the dug themselves a few years back by actually responding to demands, like with porting DD:DA to PC after 4 years. What they need to do is start making new games already better be fucking Dragon's Dogma 2, as they're running out of stuff to port and remaster.

MML3

MML3 is as NEVER EVER as shit gets.

Nah, Con Man killed it.

The game isn't all escort quests, you can ignore every survivor who needs your help if you so choose. The game is about aggressive time management, with the escorting, zombies, and bosses all acting as obstacles for the player to get from point A to B as fast as possible.

People often incorrectly assume the game's about slaughtering zombies all day for funsies, this is not, and never was, the case. Dead Rising 1 is a survival horror game, the only difference being that you manage your time rather than your bullets.

Oh my sweet Summer child. Megaman Legends 3 is guaranteed dead as fuck. Megaman is dead as fuck. We'll never see the Blue Bomber appear in his own game ever again.

What? Does he own the license, or something?

Only autistic people would call that fun. I'm sure /v loves it.

Glad to know you can't handle something as simple as time

At least Mega Man had a great run, I don't think anyone would argue that

You don't belong on this site, if you're the kind of person to say "tinfoil", or "take your meds".

What part of "normalfag" do they not understand?

Are you autistic?

Was this supposed to be for someone else, or did you not read my post thoroughly enough?

Reading Comprehension.

Is there any, I mean ANY reason for me to keep this system? I could use the case & right now I just don't see the point in keeping it.

Vanquish and ninja gaiden 2
There was also EDF 2017 and dragons dogma but superior EDF got a pc port

it's not about exclusives.

Vanquish has V-Sync on PS3, vs the 360 version that has screen tearing, so I have the PS3 version.

Then give me a reason to not sell this thing.

PFFF

...

Just remember it hasn't aged well. If you hated dead rising 2 you will hate dr1.

It's basically dr2, with less weapons, no weapon crafting, over powered (and scripted) psychos that pop up to ruin your fun, terrible survive ai, and the story is pretty shit to. Also, no sandbox mode, so you have to beat the game before you can really run around and explore. If it wasn't for dr3 it would be the worst in the series.

Fallout 1 and 2 are better than every Bethesda "Fallout" game ever made.

Fuck off, interloper. Quit pretending you mean anything, to the fandom.

What the fuck are you talking about?
Nobody here is talking about Fallout.

Dead Rising is the only game in the series made directly by Capcom.

nice clipboardimage.pgn

Am I getting memed on here or something?

God damn it all I wanted was Dead Rising 1 and a friend owed me about 25 dollars and I was going to get him to buy it for me.

I don't want to shell out 60 bucks for two games I don't want to play.

Go get some sleep.

It's a videogame user. Not real life simulator.

Then again there was Shenmue so I guess it takes all sorts.

...

Man I fucking loved this game growing up. Still perhaps the best sandbox zombie game. My sole complaint was how bulletproof the psychos were, which clashed both thematically and in terms of gameplay with the rest of the combat.

That, and the lack of a proper endless mode. "Endless" means endless, not "until your health drains to zero."

Well, the Psycho health is basically meant to balance out the fact you can't die so easily, meaning that if they wanted to lower their health, they would also lower yours, which is a problem for some players who want to feel "entertained" more than satisfied with surmounting obstacles.

There'll probably be mods for that, since Stip0's basically made the original game open-source, with his understanding of the game's code, and the fact he's boasted that when the game comes to PC, he'll release all of his tools, if they are compatible.

How trustworthy is QLOC with keeping the game's code unrestricted?

Restored content is my shit I blame STALKER and Fallout 2/NV modders and diggers for making me this way

It's gonna be great, I tell you what.

Seriously. How faithful are those Poles in not fucking with modability?

Looking at their previous port work like DDDA, texture replacements, new skins, hud changes, dll hooks, and gameplay tweaks won't be much of a problem. The real question is how far can the game be taken while modding?

Like I said, previously, Stip0 basically said that anything's possible, with the only setback itself being the console's limitations.

Hopefully, the open directories and coding of the game being safely ported to PC by these Pollacks makes modding a cinch.

super excited about this actually
can they mess it up?

Read the thread.

rtyuc

wat

so it WILL be using MTFramework then?

Yes.

Judging from the screenies, and the history of the Poles who are doing the porting, that's a yes.

Underrated post

Fucking kill yourself

There better be a trailer, or something, by then, at least.

In terms of plot, you think this game will resume after Case West, or just stand in it's own point in time? Or God forbid have a connection to DR3.

I'm getting a vibe that this game is more of a remake than a new installment.

Wait the release is this month ?

The 4th game's a straight-up sequel. No guessing when it takes place, since they stated a while ago that it's after every other game. This port, however, is totally unmodded.

Could be. Boner lists it as having the Nip release, which is on the thirteenth of September, but for all we know, the mustards could get an early-release, or like the post says, maybe a trailer, or something one could consider at the very least "news".

you ever play crackdown, user?
