Why we should back Tania Bruguera's presidential bid for a free Cuba

What the fuck is this shit

Burgers pls

And even despite the economic blockade they STILL manage to have a better healthcare system than the US.

This is the reason that comrade Stalin purged the artists.

they should kill themselves tbh

Fuck off, Cuba litterally did nothing wrong.

BTW couldn't we use a "progressive left" against itself in this case?

Damn whiteys trying to force their culture and domination on native americans, blacks and mallutos.

The decades of overwhelming popularity clearly demonstrate that Castro is the world's greatest living monster.

I thought Cuba had elections? The problem the author seems to have with Cuba is that it has a one-party system. This problem can be solved by the party changing its name to "the coalition", and, when speaking about politics in Cuba, changing the phrase "currents within the party" to "parties within the coalition". There, problem solved.

t. burger

They do

lol american politicians aren't "freely elected" either

Cuba has shitty housing, poor living conditions.
I love it when Zizek pisses off extremely stupid marxists who are stupid enough to insist that there is nothing wrong with Cuba. Cuba looks like it's populated with slums.

And yet they still have a good education and healthcare system. Like all countries, they are a mixed bag.

dissident artists are really gay

and that has nothing to do with cuba's being literally boating distance away from the regional and global superpower that has been trying to destroy it for five decades, of course. that cuba's been able to achieve what it has under the circumstances is honestly stunning.

Yes, we should back her. Cuba is a dictatorship. Socialists oppose dictatorship, especially Stalinist dictatorship.

"Democracy is the road to socialism"
-Karl Marx

Representative "democracy" is not democracy. The people do not choose, they get to pick their poison once every 4 years.

Yes everyone around the world is living just like they do in Beverley Hills or Belgravia or Soho except the Cubans. The silly red fucks.

At least they have actual health care and lung cancer vaccines.

Nup, allowing people like her is how parasitic American culture starts infiltrating Cuba. Let the sanctions fall, and Cuba develop into the 21st century through central planning and strict State control. When the people won't be wowed by muh smartphones, then Cuba can indulge in this kind of crap. Notice how she was educated in a US university.

t. Raul Castro

Most Marxists aren't saying Cuba is a utopia. Zizek is a contrarian attention whore when it comes to contemporary political commentary.

the place is godtier in comparison to literally any other caribbean nation

guys

I hate liberals so much

sooo much

Why i'm not suprised

Trotskyism has basically been imperialism from the start. Remember that Trotsky sabotaged the peace negotiations with the Germans in WW1 against the wishes of Lenin and Stalin. Anything other then permanently imperialistically attacking countries as dictated by "permanent revolution" is opposed by Trotskyism. Its the most reactionary imperialistic ideology there is. Its not surprising so many Trotskyists (like Christopher Hitchens) become neo-conservatives and apologists for Zionist imperialism. The ex-Trotskyist Christopher Hitchens vehemently defended the war in iraq.

I am forever mad

How do the elections work? Are there any reliable sources?

wew hew

Trotsky's theory of permanent imperialism is the most reactionary theory ever developed.

Nigga, u dum.

America will do this in the future. It will do what the USSR would not.

Colour me surprised.

Wikipedia:
Only now do I realize that what I usually think of as acts of mentally ill homeless people, like when I saw one eating dog poop, are actually profound performances that duly remind me of something which I haven't figured out yet.

There is literally nothing artistic about that. Post-modernism is a cancer that needs to be banned to prevent it from corrupting wider society with its cult of existentialism. Cuba is in dire need of a Cultural Revolution where all art, culture and literature that does not 'serve the people' or support communism be banned, burnt and it's advocates gaoled or euthanized.

They did quite a bit wrong attempting to emulate the soviet model. Things are starting to get more democratic lately with more attention being paid to the workplace.
