Quake Wars? It was a pretty good time and had some decent balance. I have no idea why it didn't really catch on. Some CoD shit probably came out around the time.

And yeah, the objectives felt like a bit more than just "hold this position" and generally led up to an end goal with a bit of cinematic fuck you flair for the other team to see at round end. Pretty good variety throughout the maps with all that too.
