It has less stun, the double notes are okay, but it doesn't really have much use outside of carrying shitters or at the start of the hunt for self improvement*2.
Basically it just got nerfed

It's hunter arts are probably the worst in the game for weapon specific.

You want to run guild or Aerial (with proper sets and infinite stamina HH or else you're not going anywhere).

There are Variant fights which are supposed to be G-rank-esque but… they're really unimpressive on the whole, and I really can't say I feel like they're a good replacement.
Basically imagine a monster with more HP and a slightly altered moveset. Now imagine you're forced to fight them 10 times, and just to add insult to injury the armor set is really awful and lacks key skills no matter what, and has no gem slots. Real kicker it lacks it's unique skill until item level 5.

If you're playing the game properly this should never happen. The only reason you run into this is because YOU keep hugging the entrance and twitching to run to another zone to heal, and then get mad when you wonder why the monster keeps hanging around so close to the entrance.

Positioning is one of the most basic skills in Monster Hunter.

Any tips for GS? I've been using the hammer and LS for the past three or four games, and I want to switch it up. I'd imagine it's not so hard with bigger monsters or in a group, but I'm struggling a bit with landing the charged moves.

What's a good quest for Low Rank Azurzos grinding?

I got one on Operation: Moofah DLC one and while i guess i could try to grind that, getting 20 Moofah Furs every time is SLOOOOW.

Timing is everything. Use a lot of draw attack if you can't get an opening to charge. You're going to sheath your GS a lot.

Stop relying on this idea of a group to be your crutch. If you can't land a changed attack then you picked a bad opening to try landing a charged attack. Pick a bigger opening and try to be close enough when it happens. That's all there is to it

You need to predict what the monster will do sometimes to land a charge where you want it. That just comes with experience from learning monster attacks and knowing how long the GS charge takes.

How many weapons do you guys usually main for every game?
I like to add one more weapon each game, so now I'm at three, but the money grind is unreal, especially if you consider I like to make sets specifically for each weapon.

I currently main Dual Blades and Greatsword, both aerial.

I had sets for everything except GL in 4U because
In generations I'm probably going to skip IG because I fucking hate it. I only had sets for it in 4U because it was useful on a few monsters. I mostly use Hammer, LBG and GS.

I like to use every weapon. Early game I'll only stick to 2-3, then start using everything else once money is easier to get. And once you start making mixed sets it gets easier to make armor since many sets can use the same pieces. For many weapons you may want several of the same skills, so you can build specialized sets for each weapon without having to grind out a whole new set from nothing for each one.

GL is one of the weapons I main bro, I'll fite you.
I go for the idea I should be able to break any monster part alone even in multiplayer quests.
So I main hammer and gl for tails.
Also SnS for fun & giggles.

If you gotta use seregios make sure you get Evade Dist and possibly Constitutn.
You wanna sidehop and X+A as much as possible and fire very little bullets, it's pretty good damage wise too.
This was in mh4u but i'm unsure about the heat gauge thing in mhgen, I'd hate to lose sharpness just to get that thing up.

It's pretty much like a LS, you sheathe when the enemy is far, you get close to it, deal medium to high amount of damage, and focus more on the block because it's free of sharpness loss and also more stable.
The good thing is that I have three ways of using it depending if I use long, normal or wide, that's how fun it is.

I usually make sure I have one of each, in 4U I ended it with the S.Rath Long, S.Zingore Wide, and Daora for normal and I usually cycle the shot type depending on what I was fighting.

My favorite though if I didn't give a fuck about other hunters? Wide with Artillery God, charge all the shots and melt some faces.

I should try to pick it up again and shoot up even tho that takes a bit more time to direct the shots.

The misty mountains area, in the cave part of the map, there are mining nodes. Look for the gold/white colored ones, because there are blue and pink colored ones also, but I've only seen them drop from the gold/white nodes.

With no specification of the game and the armor spheres he needs it's really more convenient to send him to a wiki.

Was kind of dissapointed, even great jaggi lasts longer when using starter weapons in previous games.

I tried with both level 3 hammer and big sword.
He just doesn't die and after a while his attacks just deal a ton of damage to me even with level 3 armor

Are you new to monhun?
In that case its normal to get your ass beat to the first big bad.
Try dodging more, most monsters also have some pretty easy tells so you can anticipate their attacks and get out of the way in time.
its also usually best to hug a monsters side, by their legs, because they have a lot more trouble hitting you there.

Is it your first game? ive done it with bow, charge blade and hunting horn and not been hit by it. It either gets on its tail and kicks if you are close, charges if you arent or does zinogres 3 swipe forward charge, it only ever attacks forwards. Just get some hits, back off for stamina and stick to the sides.

use the D pad to go through the sub sections, theres multiple item sections you can drag to the bottom screen that removes it. I have map, lock on, inventory, the hp/stam supplies and my one adept art on it.

if you're new to the game, you gotta be patient and learn to get used to how the combat works. once you got that down, memorise its moveset and try to not get hit.
when using a hammer, focus on getting that charge 2 attack on its head. it's an uppercut and you'll move forward when using it so be wary. take your time to get your hits and don't rush it

Well, since you're new, I'll do you the kindness of telling you to git gud. If you don't know what that means, basically all you have to do is become familiar with the monster's behavior, and your chosen weapon's animation timing. Once you get those down, it's cake.

I'm reading up on IG/Kinsect right now, and it says that unlike in 4U, now you can upgrade the kinsect independently of a weapon, so you can get a really powerful kinsect and then I guess attach it to whatever weapon you want.

More or less. You upgraded your bug, and certain bug levels would require you to upgrade your glaive before you could level your bug again. As an aside, the bugs were grossly imbalanced in 4U, as there was a single correct choice out of 10+ bugs. That hasn't changed in MHX, it's just a different bug now.

Eh I like to be completely blind when I have my first fight with a monster because you gotta try and adapt to something new, but once you have to farm a certain monster you have trouble with I guess you can advice.

The way I see "git gud" to be used is when someone is having trouble with the Dromes, Seltas, Kut-ku, the Greats, etc. Basically the easy beginner monsters where you have to learn to dodge and attack better and think about upgrading. However "git gud" isn't really good if you're fighting something way more complex like an Elder Dragon, Giant Monster, Rajang or Deviljho, or maybe even Seregios or Brachydios. I think that's where you have to draw the line but only if it kicks your ass all the time alone.

Well another thing to do is practice. Farming can give you a good excuse to do so. Maybe fight the Low first a couple of times, then High, and if you can do G Rank then do it last.

Try using Hammer and get some green sharpness. Tetsu has a giant head so you can break his jaw and knock him out very easily.

Did you bring traps to maximize attack time? Did you prep with all the potions you could get your hands on? Did you use armor and demon drugs?

Yukumo Pipe is pretty good for a Level 1 start, barely takes any materials (2 Yukumo Wood, 4 Iron Ore), WRG Notes, so Attack Boost(s), Health Recovery(S) and Recovery Speed Up(s) are the songs.

The textures took a noticeable hit, and the drop to 30fps certainly makes it less fluid, but try fighting a Gammoth and cranking the 3D slider all the way up.

I haven't enjoyed 3D that much since Avatar.

MH4/U were trying way too hard to be "cinematic" to me. They filled the game with so many cutscenes, and they had that corny group of four faggots that got all the attention, and they gave you all these generic "quests" where you travel to a town and do a thing to solve their problem.

It felt like it was trying to be Final Fantasy instead of Monster Hunter.

One of the things I really enjoyed when I played MHFU and MH3U was the fact that you had one town, YOUR town, and you were that town's hunter. Everything you did was for the sake of that town and it's people, protecting them and bringing them prosperity and becoming an integral part of their community. I didn't get that comfy feeling in MH4U or MHX at all. You were just another random asshole that nobody really gave a shit about, even after slaying the end-game monsters it was like

I at least liked the intro cutscenes for 4. Gen's just show the monster for a few seconds and flash the name like a fighting game, I preferred it when it showed me actually out and about, coming across the monster as it lived it's life. It really gave the game a more grounded feel.

I liked all the cutscenes that rendered your armour, frankly, even if a lot of the good parts got stolen by the fucboi brigade. Same thing with Halo Reach, I like seeing my customized guy doing cool stuff.

I didn't think I cared about this until I got to Yukumo in X and the chief talked to me as if I was a stranger and talked about the other Hunter who normally used that house as if it wasn't me. Weird feels man.

At least 4 had the Caravan as a overarching thing, but Gen doesn't even feel like it has that.

The whole research for the Dragonic Historical Institute angle was supposed to cover that I suppose, but it wasn't very cohesive considering in effect you just are running errands for random people. Though in a sense I guess that makes sense, since it sounds like the vast majority of Hunters in the setting are dispatched to various locales for various tasks, with Hunters taking up a position as "resident Hunter of X Village" being more an exception than a rule, and at least it tied in more to the multiplayer "story" a little with Ostgaloa, for what little that was worth.

They could've at least added some music to make the cutscenes more enjoyable.

Well if they fuck up it counts towards you fucking up too since it takes away a cart so you might as well prevent that. Also if you're a Gunner it's more easier to die when hit by an attack. The Max Potion is good just in case of an emergency but the Ancient Potion is unnecessary.

Played a MonHun before? Immediately so you get the boring low rank quests done before everyone moves on from them so you have to solo them too while not being challenged and just slogging through the boosted health.

First MonHun? After the storyline finishes. so you know the basics of monster hunting.

It is a "spinoff", ergo the new team, Styles and heavy reusing of areas and the "revisit old Villages" thing.

I guess (or at least hope) 5 will be back to form due having the "Main" team on it.

I like the dunes better than the old desert.

It's basically a 15 year aniversary game featuring maps and monsters from all 4 gens (plus a bit of new stuff)

I hope the styles will become a mainstay.

I hope they don't. Styles are really poorly thought out for most weapons.
If they rework them or narrow them down to 2 per weapon or something maybe.

You'll have to get a gem or charm for the rest

You can probably make a Health Jewel to negate the bad skill.
