This game is garbage.

because it came out half a decade ago and everyone that didn't like it moved on to stop desperately finding joy in Nintendo games anymore.

I wish your kind stayed behind.

This is all your fault. I spend a day getting the emulated motion plus with an xbox controller working.

???

All games do this, including the previous Zelda's. In fact, I think it did it to a lesser degree than most games.

I didn't realize this was OoT.

We warned you, in several threads about it since its launch.

...

How can I look forward to breath of the wild now?

Don't

With the unrivaled unbreakable optimism of an Otaku.
The kind of unrelenting spirit that even in the face of total hopeless you still press on! Like an Undertale fan who played through the game two hundred times. You don't just give up!

Git gud

I had this horrible feeling during the whole game that the game was about to start and "the good part is just around the corner" until the very end.

The control mechanics were fine but I don't see myself playing this again.
Once the novelty passes, game stays below Wind Waker.

I actually regret buying it. I didn't buy it until a year after it came out, despite otherwise being a big Zelda fan, and once I finally played it I understood why I'd subconsciously put off purchasing it.

This game is garbage.

Why didn't you warn me Holla Forums.

Hating SS is not and never has been a sekrit klub Holla Forums opinion, plenty of normalfags openly hate it too. If you'd spent any amount of time around any kind of game-focused community you would know it catches plenty of shit.

Skyward Sword is okay, but forgettable.

The best Zelda games in my opinion, in no particular order, are Ocarina of Time, Link to the Past, the original game, and Link's Awakening.

Everything else seemed to have too many "here's more of the same" or gaping problems to hit my top list. Of course, opinions are subjective, so whatever.

Bomb rolling was neat, the scarab item was neat, the time pillar things were neat.

On the whole though, it was a case study on why you don't put motion controls into any damn genre you please. It just doesn't work. Combat had to be crippled to account for the fact that motion controls are just not as reliable as a button press.

well whatever, go play donkey kong country returns and metroid prime 3

i cant believe anyone actually had trouble with the motion controls.

I started this for the first time a couple weeks ago. I got up to finishing the master sword and I killed parasites on the flying whale. As soon as the whale told me to go on yet another fetch quest I turned the game off and haven't turned it back on since. I liked zelda and groose though, zelda kinda sucked after she gets captured sadly but groose seemed to get better up to that point.

I only had trouble when they forced motion controls where they weren't needed. Using the motion controls to balance when walking across vines was unnecessary. Also, the entire tadstone part in the end game was terrible. Fi needs an off button too. Her constant interruptions are what keep me from replaying the game.

The trouble I had with them was that the controller and game would desynchronize.

Is there really that much backtracking in OoT? Only significant amount should be in the Water Temple if you have the memory of a goldfish.

I quit playing this game once it dropped a completely fucking unnecessary escort mission on me. I hate that stupid fucking robotic cumwad and I refused to drag his worthless metal ass up that fucking mountain. I don't even care whether or not the escort was remotely difficult or long, I was so insulted I dropped the game and never picked it back up.

Havent played ,but i wont because Twilight princess sudenly became good after this game came

You have to visit almost every single area a second time as an adult.
Returning to Kokiri forest and going through the lost woods again
Returning to the Goron Village for the red tunic Returning to the Zora Domain for the blue tunic
Having to visit the spirit temple as a child first then going back as an adult.

I'm probably forgetting some things.

Admittedly the Sand Sea and Ancient Cistern were cool.

Only major location you don't visit as both an adult and child is the Gerudo village because they flat-out deny you access as a kid. Ranch is totally optional since its only real use is a bottle and Epona though you do still visit it as both.

Another thing I forgot is how you have to run all the way back to the Kokiri forest as a kid to get Saria's song (you can't go through the passage connecting the lost woods and the Goron village because you need the song for the bracelet).

Oh, shit, I forgot all about that. I don't really get how anybody can play through Ocarina of Time more than once, I love me some Zelda and it's still the biggest slog of all of them.

From all the games I've played DMC4 is still the worst offender. First half of the game is reaching the end and second half is starting from the end and reaching the beginning. Literally half the game is backtracking.

That's definitely an absolutely huge offender though it doesn't help the game is rushed and unfinished and most of the actual fun to be had is in Bloody Palace.

Are you serious? Skyward Sword's an excellent game. The overworld may be the weakest, but the lore is perhaps the best in the series and there's a lot to like in the gameplay.
As for atmosphere, nothing beats Lanayru. Discovering the past piece by piece on post-apocalyptic soil is amazing, and it makes great use of the art style.

i wish fi was less annyoing in that game

Don't forget that saving and loading anywhere else but dungeons forces you to run back to where you were

It's not the same forest. Traversing through the Lost Woods is piss easy as a child. As an adult you've got Moblins to deal with
You can just buy those
Different sections entirely

The only egregious backtracking that I can really remember from Ocarina is if you want to get all the Gold Skulltulas you've got to backtrack to The Deku Tree and Dodongo's Cavern.

This is pretty weak bait

lore is great, motion controls are shit. if Nintendo re-released it with more shit going on in the sky and have it be compatible with a traditional controller I think it would be a lot better than it is currently.

Are you people honestly saying you like the 'It came from God' explanation for every previously mystical aspect of the series?

The lore for Skyward Sword is the absolute worst. Nintendo's retcons took a giant shit on everything.

By noticing Miyamoto is not having that much of a control over it, and at least on the E3 demo the game being very, very tame at the gimmick shit.

You know that Miyamoto's not the one who ruined Paper Mario, right?

MM is the best use of asset reuse

And how about SS?

Shit pasta, m8

Where?
There were like four towns

2/10 for effort

I really don't think Miyamoto had a lot to do with it. The guy who directed SS also directed Phantom Hourglass, which was shit, so maybe that has a lot to do with Skyward Sword's poor quality

TP is still shit, just not as shit as skyward sword.

Not excusing it but speedrunners found an elaborate way to skip that escort part.

Unfortunately not this annoying bitch.

What the fuck was their big idea? She explains stuff that was explained to you usually 2 seconds before she pops up. Or she tells you you should go through that recently opened door.

I liked PH
Even though it's completely personal taste
Linebeck is the best character in any Zelda game and this is a fact.

not that i agree with his criticism, but i just cant enjoy majoras mask. maybe its the timing mechanic? maybe i dont like the whole gotta be at the right place at the right time thing? I don't know… i cant figure it out, but i just cant enjoy this game.

every time i pick it up, i leave the city, go to the 1st area, then save and never pick it up again.

i've tried to enjoy this game atleast 6 times. Its just not fun

The time mechanic is such a hit or miss for players. Either you like it or you don't. Either way it's completely preferential.

ive played other games with that mechanic, so its not exclusively that. i really just cant place my finger on it. I play it and i have literally 0 complaints. its all stuff a typically love, but when i play it… meh.

...

MM does have the worst graphics and artstyle of all Zeldas. Maybe that's putting you off.

explain

It's just the frankensteined together leftovers of ocarina of time, it doesn't look nice.

Actually now that i think about it, could be a part of it. I feel like im playing an ocarina mod that continued after oot finished. except they wiped all my progress so i have to build my character up again from scratch.

it does not feel like a new world or a new game.

I will fight you on these.
Backtracking is a great way for the player to get a feeling of growth, things that used to be difficult due to lack of ability and understanding of the games mechanics become a breeze.
Controls were amazing, I'm guessing you were holding the controller wrong, my sister also tried to play it but kept holding the controller wrong and had a hard time getting the kind of swings she wanted. Hell he game controlled fine even though the wireless sensor bar I bought at gamestop; becuase a cat chewed through my old one, would turn itself off after 2 hours of use. The only way i would realize it turned off was when i had a hard time navigating the item circle.
There were some cool dungeons, and TP has some way worse ones.
The only boss that sucked was the imprisoned IIRC. Every other boss was great, and all the Ghirahim fights and the Demise fight were awesome and tons of fun. IIRC I also liked the Tentalus boss notably.
I have to give you this half way, the atmosphere was fine, until Fi would ruin it.

Also Im not saying the game is without flaws, you are right about the others, but you also forgot to mention the shitty excuse for sidequests they had, and the fact that almost all the power ups/collectables were in those fucking lame ass cubes.

It looks way better than Ocarina of Time. Better textures, better draw distances, darker palette.

I like the Groundhog Day aspect of it. The mechanic can be a bit annoying though, like for example when you're doing the Kafei/Anju sidequest and that stuff is very dependent on timing.

its marginally more technically advanced, because it required the n64 expansion to run, but he specifically said artstyle.

See: Darker Palette

BULL FUCKING SHIT, HE WAS THE DUMBASS WHO SUGGESTED NO PARTNERS. DO YOU REALIZE HOW FUCKING AMAZING A JOB THEY DID WITH THE PARTNERS SYSTEMS IN PAPER MARIO?
THE PARTNERS WERE THE BEST PART OF THE GAME, THEY SERVED NOT JUST AS "KEYS" FOR THE WORLD MAP, BUT ALSO AS CHARACTERS FOR THE PLOT, AND ABILITIES FOR BATTLES.

Zelda is dead to me.

also forgot to mention

"MM has a way better art style than ocarina of time! it uses darker colors!"

So they shot down the Wolfos taming hope?

I mean seriously Nintendo, why couldn't you do this instead of focusing on cheap amiiboo gimmicks? It would've been so fucking perfect and to see the animal you worked so hard to tame die to your own negligence would've been so immersive as fuck.

nintendo is now exclusively for children, and that would make children sad.

Also
To tame or ally with monsters would've been great. Imagine a Bokoblin helping you in combat and welcoming you into his tribe where you can sit and sing in a broken language with them.

Yeah this. This is the biggest flaw of zelda games. They are now no longer just games, they have to be the driving force behind nintendos latest failed gimmick.

Eh, from what I understand, Miyamoto would say shit like 'Maybe you want to think about whether we really need the partners' and Kensuke Tanabe would construe this as 'GET RID OF THE PARTNERS. BURN IT ALL DOWN!'.

Who said that you can't tame animals.

I don't understand how Majora's art syle could be worse than Ocarina's when the only difference, really, is that Majora uses darker colours for better contrast.

I mean, the fact that Nintendo brightened it up for the remake was one of Holla Forums's major complaints.

Phantom Hourglass is much better than Autism speaks zelda

Watch the gameplay footage of them advertising Wolf Link you cheeky cunt.

Skyward Sword was so bad it broke my autist ex-wife's lifelong obsession with Zelda games

so imo it isn't all bad

Sounds like both were at fault. The cheap shits.

SS would've been a whole lot better if they just allowed for a classic controller option.

They changed them all to classic toads because Nintendo realized that they needed to piss off the SJWs who were complaining about MEH DIVERSITY!

It's shit even so. The fact you have to constantly go back to just 3 basic areas ruins it, and the overworld is just a glorfied level select screen that takes too long.

The dungeons are also the simplest and dumbest in all of the zelda games. WWs dungeons were relatively short and simple too, but even there they used more than 1 item per dungeon. In skyward sword you use that one item you get in the dungeon and that one item only.

Compare with ocarina of time where in the forest temple you need the hookshot just to get there, and the bow. The fire temple doesn't forget about the hookshots existance and you have to keep using it. there too along with the items you acquire there. Water temple, same thing. Every single new area adds to the complexity in oot, in SS shit just stays flat throughout.

Woah, woah, woah, there pardner. You're thinking of WINDWAKER there.

I still find the original Triforce Hunt worse than even the Tadtones. You have to have every single fucking chart decoded and then suss out where they lead you. On top of that, the game just doesn't have much content. Skyward Sword has more and significantly better dungeons- the only game with a higher quality dungeon list is, surprisingly, Twilight Princess.

Worst Zelda dungeon is still the Ice Dungeon from Link to the Past. FUCK that noise.

Have you tried playing Legend of Zelda: Parallel Worlds.

They did it because they're unoriginal hacks. It pissed off tumblr which is always nice, but it wasn't worth the loss of pretty toad maids.

The limited areas along with the empty and underpopulated nature of the sky (and the world as a whole) also killed it for me for the most part.

color is only a small part of art style.

...

You're just a faggot as usual, OP.

Bullshit.

Not OP, but I'll I wanted from Skyward Sword was a classic controller option, 2 more areas and a more populated and lively world. If not for that, then it would've been perfection.

Color is about 1/3rd of the art style. The rest is model proportions, and movement.

I guess you can cram rendering into the 'colors' part.

bullshit? youre wrong, retard. if both games were black and white, OOT would still have a much better art style. look at those images in the post you replied to. random logs in MM thrown seemingly random in a walled in grassland. while OOT had a much more purposeful design.

look at these images.. this is what it looks like as you enter the main map

the level design, placement of objects, choice of objects, distance of objects, are all also very important to the look of the game.

another example. just look at the mountain.

I'm gonna put that under model proportions.

Also I agree with you on MM looking terrible. If the game got a remake, a proper one, where all they do is give it it's own assets and design a good Termina Field, it could be the best zelda yet.

Don't, I played it at Nintendo World, combat is just a half assed Dragon's Dogma, where you throw your weapons.

This to be honest.

I always thought everything looking a bit "off" added to the overall atmosphere of MM.

No really, I liked it at first and even made a post in the E3 sticky showing off the coin. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized its just the assassin class in Dragon's Dogma but slower.

i guess thats one way of looking at it…

all of this stuff is personal preference. i just always felt like playing MM was playing a mod of oot. like it wasnt official. like dragonball gt.

Atleast there's last guardian.

Assassin has some pretty cool stuff going on.

Well Persona 5 looks good, I would say Nier but 8-4 is gonna fuck up that game so badly.

Well yeah, it's basically Assassin with bow and sword. But without the skill set that made the gameplay much better. Also sword play is basically OoT and TP with an element added that allows you to throw a weapon that breaks.

...

Think of it like L+R fires an arrow like in Dragon's Dogma, but it's only a single arrow. Might even be superior to sword combat. We'll see.

M8, I think you need to look at the background of that "grassland" again or are you talking about the pics in your reply. In which case I see the usual texture wall of trees for a forest clearing, wooden pillars, and gnarled trees. Only the immediate ground has shoddy textures but it's a pic for ants so I can't get a good zoom to compare.

here are the two pics comparing and contrasting a boss from Majora.

Why did they FUCK UP the atmosphere so much in the remakes?

I was agreeing with you user. I know full well what went on.

Yeah, one of my favorite things about Dragon's Dogma is that the arrows are batshit crazy. Tenfold arrow feels like you're firing a machine gun. With Breath of the Wild, it just feels like a shooter with some Zelda swordplay rehashed

8-4?

I really enjoyed the Nier beta, best new IP i've played in a while. easily the most fun i've had in a beta. how could they fuck it up? now you have me nervous.

not talking about texture quality user. read up.

Oh, you played it as well?

nichegamer.com/2016/07/04/8-4-handle-localizing-nier-automata/

I did, and it's obviously a forest clearing while hyrule field is actual grasslands with solid rock walls.

woops, i confused nier with nioh.

but fuck. i was really excited for nier automaniacs too. FUCK. why cant they leave foreign games foreign. why cant these faggots just translate shit and make munerunes into letters like theyre supposed to

i cant figure out what post youre talking about. i compared MM woods to the forest temple, and hyrule field to the main MM field. what are you talking about?

That's one of the best fanarts of Link's Awakening I've seen a decades.

I agree with everything you say.

1- People don't know when their wiimotes are broken (i.e. are no longer accurate)
2- It's much easier to use a controller than to move the wiimote emulating the sword's movement. Even if the movements are accurate, it's tiring to (ahem) some of us who aren't in our prime.

There will never be another Zelda game with Skyward Sword mechanics.

Everyone was, we'll just have to wait and see if it is another Drakengard 3

...

...

Marin is pretty cute in Hyrule Warriors

Hyrule Warrior is all I could ever ask for. If only it had more adventure.

This is actually the straw that broke the camel's back for me too. In a game that is already thick with padding, that feeling described, this was a particularly nasty chunk of gristle that I couldn't chew through.

I can't wait for the same to happen with Zelda U.

There is no good and bad Zelda games, it's all the same shit. What you have is games released early in a system's lifespan, and others developed at the end of it as an extension. The first become babby's first Zelda when their single mom buys the system on christmas, the latter are strictly for fans who enjoy the same game for 30 years.

Is that a fan translation?

i really tried to like the game but
the AI is retarded and hardly attacks, except for ENEMY generals, making a lot of missions babysitting games
needing to multiple items per adventure tile (not even talking about the compass, i mean unlocking the treasure AND making the enemies visible AND needing a hookshot or baton to unlock the next tile) is fucking tedious
enemie generals and bosses take almost no damage if the RNG isnt giving you their weakpoint
some of the movesets have fucking horrible damage output (like zeldas baton or agitha) requiring level/money grinding i f you need to a-rank a mission with them

this skinner box captured me for quite a while, but im getting fed up with the game's bullshit.
At least it gave us Cia and Linkle

And I fully agree with you. Most of the enemies just feel like mindless training dummies. But even so, a real sense of adventure would improve things greatly. Also all the updated and returning characters kind of give me a fan boner so I guess I am a little biased…

I stopped playing the minute I saw you start with more than 3 hearts. Why didn't you stop at the same place? This game was made for retarded casuals and I have no sympathy for those who subject themselves to it.

thats not even the worst part. the worst part is when a mission critical ally is getting bodied but refuses to disengage from the fight and run or when an ally complains about the hq being under attack but doing shit all about it, even when said ally is currently standing around doing nothing at all.

it all just makes me want to make a musou with better ai, because i really like the whole "capturing and defending keeps" premise, but with better ai, and fewer mooks at a time, who however actually fucking pose a threat.

So why are you upset? Be happy you didn't pay for it

AY HOL UP
IS YOU SAYIN'
They fucking Engrished Belka's name? The (((localizers))) actually decided to name her Beruka?
And why the fuck would the devs permit such a complete bastardization like this? That's absolutely fucking ridiculous. Thank fuck I'm not a modern FE fan.

"Japanese" version is a fan translation. Japan has no differentiation between R and L. Or rather, Ru and Lu since they don't do single letters aside from N, and the u is silent. So technically, the (((localized))) version is more accurate in her name, the one point where it's retarded to do so.

Lies, Wind Waker is the only Zelda game that had a bad reception BEFORE (!) it was released, therefore the post-release reception could change.

All other games were well received at the beginning (even Skyward Sword).

I don't need to tell you what games were good or bad in the end because we all know all Zelda games are above par in some sense when compared to the other games of its age.

I'm glad at this, I died a lot of times in Skyward Sword. I remember the first time I found one of those three headed little skill lizards, or that Giant Enemy Crab, fuck it so much.
Getting the Hyrule Shield was bretty difficult, I only got it in my second (and last) run.
I'm done with that game.

Nobody hated it once they actually played it.
