If I remember correctly there were some mods for BF3, but they never really took off. It is also possible to host 'custom servers' in BF4 that allow you to do all kinds of weird stuff, but I am not sure to what extent.

Germany had an African colony, and there were battles in Africa, so the idea isn't completely implausible. If they were ever fighting in Europe, they'd likely be in their own African/Colonial unit. It's still an inaccurate representation of what went down, though.

Only Colonial Troops, and they served exclusively in the African theater, where they and the German troops BTFO of the British and French colonial troops.

Not a single Reichswehr Colonial unit was used in Europe, however, making the presence of African soldiers on the Central Power side incredibly unlikely.

Something interesting to read about, is the rapes that the French and British colonial troops committed against the French, Belgian, and German civilians. Created a whole generation of outcasts in all of those societies.

Having the single player character be black is fine. It tells a story not many know of, sure. The issue is with the MP. A minority of a minority of the soldiers in WWI were not white. The vast, vast majority were white, so it makes sense for the MP to have whites, pretty much exclusively.

France, Belgium, Germany all fielded colonial detachment, France and Belgium had the gigantic advantage of a direct line of transport through the Mediterranean to transfer troops from Africa to Europe, they were for the west a small but non negligible part of the western front, although actual front line fighting was mostly done by French Caribbean troops with African colony providing workforce for the industry.
But if you go to the African theater you're going to see a shitton of skirmishes betweens the colonies but the nature of the terrain, the complexity of maintaining supply lines through actual deserts and greener wastelands meant that there never was high casualty rate trench warfare like in Europe.
Showing up colonials company ducking it out in Europe is mostly retarded but not unexpected considering that there's MANY things in the game that are completely inaccurate from uniforms, markings, to weaponry and tactics.
