Doesn't help that Mighty was almost certainly a last-minute change of Sonic's sprites in Chaotix, all of his are edits of Sonic's sprites from prior games and if I remember right there's walljump sprites for Sonic in Chaotix or one of its earlier beta builds that match the ones Mighty has in final.
There's also that "Wechnia" garbage character data which has unique Tails-style flight in some of the game's earliest known builds.
Take that back.
Y'know, people complain that Sonic has too many friends, but when you look at all the shitty, awful characters Sega has produced that disappeared after one game it becomes clear they actually picked out the cream of the crop.
It's pretty weird how only a few people seem to be able to make a Sonic character that either doesn't look like a recolor of sonic or something that doesn't belong in a Sonic game.
