But the gunplay is just as shit as everything else. If someone wants an fps, there are plenty of better options that have better gunplay. If someone wants a good wrpg, again, better options. Settlements? Fo3, nv mods and ofcourse, other, better options. Its shit in every aspect that the game tries to be. There is no reason to praise or recommend it.

I absolutely love STALKER, I like it more than FO4 generally, but it has it's own share of flaws.

It's even worse if you want to play with the Legion since they get introduced relatively late. If you're going NCR/House/Free Vegas, there are multiple quests you can get started on to start enacting your long term goals.

STALKER call of cheeki breeki is a great game. The ballistics/bullet drop/recoil feel more realistic than most shooters. Something about the game world feels so empty, dead, and depressing which I guess is sort of the point but it works almost too well and I find myself unable to play for very long.

Unless you cheat, the Deathclaws are unavoidable. Try it sometime- their perception is too high to sneak past and they outrun the player. The only way I got it to work without buffing combat stats was to temporarily boost run speed to something ridiculous like two hundred percent.

The other option is to try to fight your way through the Nightkin and that's just as lethal for a low level character. I understand what they were going for, but it's a pain in the ass when you've done the loop more than twice.

Also, the terrain funnels the player through the same loop via Primm, Nipton, and Novac. You'll have to do that march every time you paly the game.

Deathclaws have MAXIMUM perception. They'll spot you even with a stealth boy if you're within half a kilometer of them.

I hate Bethesda for a lot of the things they've done, including lore rape, voiced protag, power armor/minigun vs deathclaw in first quest, and general dumbing down of RPG mechanics. But I do enjoy the game as a survival sandbox completely unrelated to Fallout in every way but surface elements. The combat is enjoyable and the survival mechanics after the patch are pretty good with mods. I can never excuse the atrocities Bethesda has committed but I don't think it's an inherently bad game, just a bad Fallout game.

Don't worry I haven't actually paid for anything Bethesda has done since Oblivion.

we exaggerate a lot on this board and i understand that, but i am being 100% honest when i say i regret ever putting fallout 4 on my hard drive. i have never regretted pirating a game before based on quality but i do now. it was so bland and lifeless and uninteresting that i can remember like four separate moments from the game, otherwise it's just a blur of unsatisfying guns, retarded AI, and feebly trying to make it fun with mods and still only managing to delay the eventual uninstall by about two days

Just a tiny bit of map knowledge, and a basic understanding of game mechanics. The mainquest can be completed, without any cheats or glitches, in less than 30 minutes.

Let me spoon-feed you some, because it sounds like you need it - if you follow the railroad track past Sloan and stick to the right of it you'll end up at Neil's shack. From there you can walk along the bottom ridge of the mountain up until you reach the northern rock face, and then you can follow it east with absolutely no risk of death. At the end of the rock face you should find a dead NCR trooper with some armour you can use for a disguise, so take it. Behind the dead soldier is a steep incline covered in bear traps, with a bunch of boulders at the top which will crush you if you're too slow. Avoid the boulders, walk up the incline, and continue north to the Repconn HQ. Go north until you got the walls of McCarran and follow it to the left, eventually entering the camp. Put on the NCR unifo and enter the main building, take the escalator to the left, and head to the monorail at the back of the building. Congratulations faggot, you're on Vegas on a level 1 now. I hope you maxed out luck so you can clean out the casinos, because if not, you're a little bitch.

I can understand someone liking 2 over NV because it had less options as an RPG, but it was still quite comparable and the writing in New Vegas is far better than 1 or 2's and if you don't think so then you're a nostalgia driven contrarian hipster.

Its why normalfags also liked DS2 over DS1, Far Cry 4 over Far Cry 2, Bioshock infinite over Bioshock 1 (If the System Shock remake isn't trash; which is unlikely, then normalfags will shit on it for not being like Bioshock infinite), Fallout 3 over Fallout NV, Its the entire reason Skyrim got so damn big. You put in minimal effort and the game rewards you with powerful things.

Thats not to say all games that bank on power fantasies are bad, the Dead Rising games become power fantasies, but there is a learning curve that makes it not shit.

I like Fallout 3 and 4 for totally different reasons I like Fallout 1 and 2. 3 and 4 are great first person urban exploration simulators that really appeals to my love for going into old and abandoned buildings and houses.

1 and 2 are great CRPGs that I boot up every year or so.

Fallout 4 is shit as a Fallout game, as an RPG, and as a game on its own. I don't know how people can say it's good when viewed outside the series or genre, because it still sucks.
The dialogue system is trash no matter how you look at it, as is the entire plot and most quests. The weapon and armour upgrades are almost entirely linear (though the armour less so than the weapons). The settlement building is completely broken, with arbitrary limits on what garbage piles you aren't allowed to clean up, and with enemy raids spawning at the centre instead of just outside the settlement boundary. Enemies are incredibly bullet spongy, and their AI is S H I T. Gunplay is improved from 3 but still bad. Optimization is subpar; many textures would have looked ugly a decade ago, and yet it still runs poorly.

Everything about the game is poorly done. I want a game where I can ignore the main quest, roam around the ruins of a city, and build my own bastion of civilization. This is what Fallout 4 is strongest at, and yet it still does it terribly enough that I uninstalled it. I don't even have hope that mods can make it worth playing, because Bethesda's doing their best to kill modding. Maybe I'll torrent it again in a year or two and see if it can be salvaged, but I doubt it.

actually looking back on it I'll have to agree here. I haven't played 1 for a long time so I can remember the most about 2, and I just sorta lumped them together there.

Well as someone who enjoys the game about half of those are completely true and the other half are true about the vanilla game, but not the modded one. The ones that change IMO would be Upgrade system having real variety, settlements are fixed quite a bit, enemies are not bullet spongy, AI is improved somewhat, gunplay is actually pretty decent in vanilla but the bullet sponge enemies don't make this obvious, and of course texture mods save the visuals. But of course absolutely everything related to writing, dialogue, and optimization are still hilariously awful. They also "fixed" Boston's FPS issues by making it load minimum resolution textures for everything (and of course the framerate is still mediocre, just not unplayable). Bethesda are hack frauds that have the unfortunate position of being one of the two developers on this planet that make the type of game that I want to play, and the other one strives for realism and historical accuracy which I don't really like either despite it being very well done (this is Taleworlds by the way). I just wish more devs would challenge Bethesda and try to make a better singleplayer sandbox action game where you just go wherever you want and interact with the world's various factions.
