Another thing I noticed is that quite often in the middle of a race the track and world around it will just straight up disappear causing me to fall off into the world. After that it takes a decent amount of time to spawn me back in which really affects my completion of races, especially during time trials.

TDU2's physics are downright unpleasant at times, even after 50 hours while GTA V's physics only take a few hours to get used to.

The Crew is just pretend coop. Apart from the races where you should team up to gang bang some dude it's basically a race between the crew members because everyone with half a brain cell or an overpowered car will leave them in the dust by turn 2.
And even destruction events are kinda PvP because the score depends on how much damage you deal to the AI, and if you want those platinum medals you're going to have to be a dick.

Never had that happen to me, but god knows how many times I forgot the two pause menus don't actually pause the game. Actually got busted once, just escaped the cops, parked the car to take a leak and came back to my computer with the idiot behind the wheel in handcuffs.

Oh yeah and also once I teleported to a race just as some other dude was doing a race on the same road. The game basically popped me right in front of his face as he was 20 meters away from me. No spawn protection, no temporary no collision, just a race ruined. gg

The same thing happened to me, along with other AI being on the same circuit but going the opposite direction. Also when leaving the garage I let the car stop by itself and a few seconds later someone spawned right on top of me.

I swear they're being scripted to do that. For example during the first drift challenge with Amy, at least 4 AI drivers were just crashing in the opposite direction.

Menu navigation takes a bit to get used to, but it's doable. I know there are translation guides floating around the internet, so refer to those.

It is, but you need daytime to fully enjoy nighttime. nuNFS is pretty and quite comfy but it's all night and that gets a bit boring, IMHO

It drove alright, the customization was pretty good, there was quite a lot of shit to do, it didn't look too bad and overall quite fun. Maybe the shit advertisements and GFWL killed it.

Burnout Paradise has a setting for the day/night cycle where it can follow the time on your PC. Can also set it to random.

The only minor issue I had was that it wouldn't work with ManyCam so I couldn't inflict scat porn on the idiots taking me down online. Nothing else.

Well, duh, Satan obviously won't have any issues.
But it's incredibly unstable and it really is all about luck here. You can never crash playing it for a year, then reinstall and suddenly the game goes apeshit every 20 minutes or less.
Or it can suddenly start dropping frames without any reason despite running at stable 60 all the fucking time.
It's an incredibly wild ride.

oh god this so much. The first loading after the main menu is just so bad. Like "worn GT4 disk on a dusty launch model PS2" bad. Worst part is that there's nothing at all to see on the menu. GTA V at least shows some nice but repetitive artwork and barely useful tips.

You don't have to go this far, just get Undercover v1.8 on PC. On a machine that could run the game pretty much on the highest settings, running the game off a fast HDD, you could encounter loading times during racing. It froze the game and didn't let you go through the road, but it was still very annoying.

Probably not a lot, the game still relies on the entire UWP that's probably not portable. Plus most early DX10 games just use DX10 for like 3 or 4 fancy features, whereas this game is built for DX12 and probably integrates deep within the runtime.

VK has horrificly bad documentation from Khronos and on git and terrible developer support so it's going to take years before someone figures a wrapper. A lot of it is the "Open Source" crowd posturing and saying it can support back as far as Fermi but VK is years off from where it should have been at the start. Cracking F6A/FH3 to port into VK and run on W7 is going to take years at the level were currently at on VK support.

RBR, but it's fucking brutal
All the WRC games are pretty good, including the ones made by Milestone provided your computer has been blessed by the pasta gods. WRC 4 has some godawful stage design though. WRC 5 is meh but still somewhat enjoyable if you've run out of rally games. If you need to play one, get WRC 3 it had a very good list of cars and the stages weren't as much spaghetti as WRC 4, though WRC 4's career mode is very, very good.
Seb Loeb Rally Evo is even better than all the WRC games, but made in italy so once again, compatibility is random at best.
If you haven't played through the original CMR series, recommended to do so. If you only need to play one, get CMR 2005 because there's a lot of shit to do, but if you want to play them all then do them in the order. CMR 3, 4 and 2005 are at least 60% the same game, same stage bits, same cars, same menu system, same gameplay.

If you can deal with borderline criminal physics, check out the V-Rally series. All around fun, a lot of very interesting ideas in all 3 games. V-Rally 3's career mode is still amazing to a point where Milestone flat out copied it for WRC 4. Also the music is comfy as all fuck, embed related. V-Rally 2's stage creator was good fun too. If you only need one, get VR3 as the career mode is just dope.

none really, it was multiple orders of magnitude simper on vista/xp days and not only did that shit come out late, it was buggy/slow as hell and it worked by emulating dx10. It's also not the only thing microsoft did to lock down games on older operating systems, the effort and time behind it for sure won't come from someone who does it for free

Initially you'll be even worse, then eventually you'll reach your initial level and will progress. How fast will be down to how many techniques you already knows and how much a gamepad limited you.

Doesn't work with all games though. Most NFS games for example tend to be much easier to play with a gamepad than with a wheel.

Happens to me on certain kind of games. Can play The Crew without sweating much, but running full length races in F1 2012 had me sweating so much.

Seconding a good chair though. I have been using an old car seat for about two years and it's barely worn out and still pretty sublime for my butt. You should definitely try to salvage one as well.

Oh and about TDU 2. If I remember, the Steam version/PC version has a bunch of installation issues (for Windows 10 at least) and the online servers are dead according to some.

PS3 version still works fine for me.

It's a shame that the game seems like a downgrade from TDU1, since 1 had better physics and also had Lamborghini and a bunch of other manufacturers who didn't came back. Just the pirated versions of 1 didn't work at all. Some of the houses in 1 looked better too.

So I impluse bought a PS3 with GT5 Prologue and it's pretty good. I'm actually surprised. With a G27 it drives pretty well, and the UI and musics are just top notch.

And since I'm used to aliasing and shit shadowmaps I'm not even bothered by the graphics!

Sadly Forza 4's DLC store is down And I don't think it's coming back up anytime soon so you're shit out luck for a good amount of cars. Also feel free to pick up Ridge Racer 6 for the 360.

They were fast on their way to becoming for rally what Ferrari is for F1. Why do they seem so insistent on losing a brand identity that was so effective?

GT games are usually horrendously broken. If you can't easily win a race, just add more horsepower.
GT4 tries to make you use appropriate cars by giving you more A-Spec points (up to 200) if it thinks the car is balanced (hint: it isn't, take the Dodge Ram and you'll see) but it's mostly useless and only a few people will even care about these.

I remember back when I was only beginning to play with pretend race cars, in GT1, I'd do the Sunday Cup over and over again, selling the Demio each time (IIRC the game crashed if you didn't), to save for a race tuned Viper GTS-R and cheesed through the rest of the game.

Subaru also got plastered hard by the recession and the not stellar reaction to the 2008 Impreza when they changed it from a Saloon to a hatch really hurt them in terms of sponsorships (As the WRX had a real iconic design) even though they were riding the surge of interest in the US in Rally and Rallycross while other manufacturers were quickly jumping in. At the time there was a rumor Red Bull might start running a rally team along with their Nascar team as part of a US expansion using Subaru as their main car but it never happened as well (They just sponsor VW these days in WRC).

The WRX 2008 isn't a bad car but it's considered a bastard child for a lot of reasons and they struggled to get back to the heights they were at. The BRZ is considered a big return to form for them and Denso run a race spec BRZ in Japan Super GT but they are really just done as a Factory team since Rally is now very much the realm of modified hot hatches over 4WD Monsters like it used to be, The BRZ is much more of a GT spec than a Rally so it's finding it's niche.

The WRC doesn't have money, 9 years of Loeb and Citroen's back to back championships has basically killed the WRC. Well, that combined with homologation rules that mean the WRC cars are nothing like the road cars and a formula that calls for a bunch of 1.6l hatchbacks that look identical to each other and indistinguishable to the lower classification cars.

It's not just Subaru though, I don't understand why most teams don't understand that keeping 1 livery for a long time will build a brand identity that'll be more effective at financing a race team than short term sponsors. That's why Red Bull is such a unique and effective sponsor for a team, regardless of what the team is actually driving they automatically get a huge merchandise buying fanbase that'll support the team just for having the livery.

That was the joke, this and Subaru's involvement in rallying is clearly not on the same place of existence as Ferrari's involvement in F1.

They made a hot hatch. It was the Impreza WRX 2008. It was horrible and devastated the brand.

Subaru had made Impreza Hatch versions as well but they were more five door wagon style hatches built for family as a lowcost alternative to the Outback/Legacy while the WRX had been always the sedan version and the supercharged beast. They tried to make it a cheaper hatch with a more expensive sedan option (which also looked like ass) to try get the young peoples market and it backfired horribly because it was expensive and ugly. They switched the models back some time in 2011 for the new WRX. The 2008 WRX internals weren't bad, it was always considered a good drive. But it was "How do you do, Fellow kids" The Car. Even uglier than a fucking Scion. It just wasn't Subaru and they suffered for it.

Don't know, I guess Apex will have at least one big update, probably right after the next W10 update next month, to test wheel support and perhaps a few more improvements. Maybe another one to test a multiplayer mode, albeit I wouldn't be so sure about that one.

Turn 10 have always been clear Apex is just a test game for the Forzatech engine running on PC and DX12. Phil Spencer mentioned on twitter they were also using it to testing a bunch of new technologies MS were working on for gaming like the "dynamic settings" options they were planning to roll out and make available to other develoeprs as well (Apparently Halo 5 uses them as well on the Xbone version and Gears 4 will use them as well). Forza 6 is a pretty huge game on Xbone these days with all the add ons so it would take a long time to port to PC. At the same time, PC users are better off waiting for the proper F7 since that's likely going to be a Scorpio targeted game and it will hopefully have a lot of options people have wanted for a while like proper pit strategies and dynamic weather that can be done on Scorpio (I'd imagine the Xbone version of F7 they will just only allow static weather or drop resolution back to 900P).

They just need to unfuck Windows Store. Or at least just allow you to make PC Game purchases and libraries through the Xbox App and clear the mobile clutter out.

Yeah that's something weird about their system. Weirdest bit is that if you want to preorder FH3, you need to go through the Xbox website/app and order the X1 version. The only way of telling the game is also available on PC is a subtext in the description.

I know too that some games have issues trying to do less than four wheels. What I've usually seen done in games like rFactor is that the wheels are placed in the exact same spot as well as the suspension in order to act as one wheel.

Horizon 1 is good on 360 only for it to be let down by no tuning I seriously don't know why they thought that was a good idea except maybe for the fact they had fucked up tuning values so that it played in a more arcade like manner.
