My buddy and I got a kick out of this when he showed me it the other day. Best part is that even at 50% off, the game is still way too fucking overpriced. The fact the game avg.s under 1k players is great too considering the MUCH older games get around 500-1k-ish players.

It really amazes me to see just how spectacularly they fucked this game when all these faggots had to do was take the best features of DoW2 and combine it with the best of DoW1.

Does it really matter? The dev itself doesnt seem to care that much about it and it was his passion project.

Yea I was getting sick of the constant threads being made where its "it's totally coming out tomorrow guys!" for like two weeks. Although I dont know about the quality of the game itself, it looks just like advertised so I imagine the people wanting a wizardry game got what they wanted. Well DoW 2 was very different from DoW and it did well. So it's not just the fact that it's different that's the problem here. I liked dow2 better than dow1 by the way, the fights wore more fun, I fucking loved defence missions where I had to set up kill zones with fiering angles

I'm not happy at all. The first trailer looked just right, but then they've shown the pictures and gameplay some time later. Graphics instantly seemed suspicious, then not-Gabriel's terminator jumps, shooting, nothing seemed right at all, especially oncee they've shown even more. I seriously remember there being 1000 people in Retribution a year or two after release whenever I logged in, but the pictures prove this is sinking like a rock. I didn't buy it as it was obvious something's wrong, and now nobody really likes it or plays it so I should feel smug, but I'm only sad. I wanted this franchise to be a gleaming beacon of Emperor's light in the center of gaming industry. Now look at it.

They really fucked up this game, no cover system, no sync kills, MOBA shit and fucking leveling grind, and the severe lack of maps, and goddamn jumping terminator back flips. Only thing good is the army customization would have been fucking sweet following army/faction specific specialties if they added all the factions in future expacks. But no, fucking RIP.

Given the strength of Warhammer 40k lore, it's surprising to me that they haven't been able to make a decent game in that setting in like a decade

Dawn of War 1's massive battles did a better job at catching the "there is only war" feeling of 40k, but I think that DoW2 actually had better gameplay overall. They're both good in their own ways.

I've always wanted a game about orks, in regular ork life, being orky. You could go off and be a loota, mek, etc, whatever you want and it provides gameplay for that, centered around being some kind of shooty/choppy/third person something.

I want an Orks game that basically plays something like a 3rd person action version of Rimworld. A rok drops onto a planet, and you and a few boyz gotta start "colonizing" it. Build shit, staple more shit onto your shit and make it bigger and orkier. Kill everything on sight. Other assorted xenos on whatever planet you crashed on attack your base. Other orks hear of your prestige and flock to you. Goal is to build up a big enough band to start a WAAAGH.

Or an Imperial Guard game like Red Orchestra. Or a Tanith First-and-Only stealth game.

I'm pretty casual and would probably be happy with DoW1 with modern graphics and ability to zoom out to see most of the battlefield (possibly with overlay to help tell where troops are), or at least I recall feeling like staring through tube when I played it some random people who needed players.

Youtube views are a lot easier to buy than players. But as pointed out, half a million people did not buy the game as it's free. Even if all those views are real less tan 1/10th of the people interested enough to view the trailer were still interested enough in it after watching it to download it for free.

For some reason they thought launching mere weeks before Overwatch was a good idea. Basically they assumed there were people so hungry for some mobashooter action that they'd buy 60 dollar game while waiting Overwatch to come out.

I have massive amounts of hindsight to aid me but what I would have done, I would've either kept the orginal price or gone f2p right away with everyone who had bought the game getting at least the game's price tag's worth of in-game stuff (possibly in form of keeping stuff unlocked that gets locked for grind/micotransaction fro f2player) and some "early supporter" reward.
