How embarrassing

Why are we still acting like this piece of shit game is any more than an excuse for Nintendo/Atlus to produce idolshit and idolshit accessories?

Still, you have to wonder why NoA bothered trying to localize it, since a large portion of the minimal audience that exists for it in the west is fucking pissed over the hackjob localiazation. Are they going for the lucrative audience of high-school-aged tumblrfag weeaboos (many of which hate moeshit anyway)?

Because it was originally labeled as SMT x FE. And rather than make this its own thing, they turned that project into this.

As for why they bothered localizing it, it's probably because the Wii U has fucking nothing anymore.

why?

you're the owner of the game, YOU decide how the localization is done, and you opted to censor it, so why should the fans feel sorry that you could not man up instead of being a fucking pussy.

They even fucked over the niche audience this game would have had. They censored the waifu idol aspect and then ran ads on Disney, disney xd, and I think CN to try and shill the game to kids. Now the game sold worse than Battleborn since kids are not gonna want to play a blatant weeb game, and the dev is now trying to save face about the new costumes being great. He got mad on twitter If I recall about this shit.

...

i need this

I meant to say that he got mad about people asking him about the censorship. I may be confusing him with someone else though.

He's fucked either way.

To be fair, NoA probably lied to him and told him the changes were necessary.

I still have no idea why NoA thought the best wya to market this was towards the disney audience.

yes and i wanted see him mad

Probably because they knew it was such a niche title on a system nobody owns, and they knew changes only they would approve of would be hated. So in order make up the audience they were going to lose, they thought that kids would make up for it.

And it bit them in the ass. That or they deliberately wanted it to fail so they can have an excuse to never do anything that isn't Mario related ever again

Considering Gal-gun is coming over here completely uncensored with no trouble from the ESRB, every time a company pulls the censorship card it's horse shit.

It amazes me that idiots can only just figure this out now.

Well now that we have actual localization teams saying that the only thing the ESRB does is force changes on boxarts, other people are finally waking up. Yet you'll always still have shit like NISAdrones using that argument.

What is funny is how many games are taking obvious jabs at Nisa which caused more asshurt. What was that one game recently where it talked about how easy it was to get it rated and used that as promotional material? Gal-gun?

Isn't it retailers like Gamestop, Walmart, etc. that force boxart changes?

Yeah it was Gal-gun

That and box art falls under the ESRB's advertising guidelines which they are really strict about.

Does Nintendo release sales numbers?

It's kind of a bummer that he's still trying to sell the game. However a Japanese dev expressed disappointment publicly about Nintendo's fucking ass-backwards censorship. The tide may finally be turning.

They probably have some sway in it. Could also just be public decency laws as well, to keep video games from being treated like pornography. They have to stay clean if they want to be able to be displayed out in the open instead behind a separation or hidden behind other stuff like the magazines.

Got a link to the Gal Gun guys saying how it was no problem to get it rated?

No and they won't release numbers unless they're good. Sales numbers are pretty much only known by the game makers or analysts now. So unless a publisher wants you o hear how awesome shit is doing you won't hear squat. Japan actually publishes numbers though and the game was an abysmal failure there so I can't see it doing very well here. It got "amazing" reviews but nobody fucking listens to that bullshit anymore.

Sorry I had to dig through my feed to fine them

twitter.com/helliotlewis/status/743455797552766977
twitter.com/helliotlewis/status/724899221132955648

they apologize, you buy it, and they keep censoring future releases.

no, the tide is not changing because the hobby is filled with too many fucking normalfags that buy things and don't care that the game was ruined by SJWs or that they get an inferior experience.

some people buy the game just to stream it and "socialize", end of the deal: the game is sold in big numbers and our complains go unheard release after release. the normalfag disease has no cure.

so it sold like shit please buy it

He can eat a dick, there was no reason to butcher it the way they did. I'm playing it uncensored without spending a fucking dime and it's decent enough so far.

I didn't say people should buy this game it's censored shit is unforgivable. Just a Japanese developer acknowledged it and kind of apologized. It's a huge fucking step over fucking silence, change isn't immediate it takes fucking time.

Who is this PQube and why have I not heard of them until now. This guy is actually fucking calling out liars among his own which nobody does. I look forward to giving them my business which is something that happens less and less in video games nowadays.

Can't wait to see those western sales figures for this piece of shit.

nisa has been trying to justify their censorship for years, if anything it got worse.
as long as people keep shelling out money the companies will think they're doing it right.

look at the retards in the replies of the tweet here

this is why the tide will not change and will only get worse. because of retarded normalfags like this who use social media and play videogames for socialization.

While these certainly aren't numbers, TMS is currently sitting at #73 on the Amazon video game best sellers list. For contrast, Star Fox Zero, a game that came out almost three months ago to bad reviews is a good twenty spots ahead of it. I'm going to guess that things aren't going too hot for this game.

Yeah one guy out of 4 tweets. Meanwhile this company, PQube, along with IF and xseed all actually taking stands against censorship. Hell IF looks like they along with Compile Heart are also dropping NISA as a localizer. Atlus just dropped them in Europe as well. Focusing on the negative and spouting doom definitely won't change shit.

NISA also hasn't had much competition for years. Now we have companies like IFI, XSEED, and PQube proving that censorship is not necessary.

Star Fox Zero also had abysmal sales it's the worst selling Star Fox and that is already a series that didn't sell very well.

you mean broken ports and memes?
those guys who said they're sorry but censored it anyway?
yes, these are what we should aspire to

PQube are the guys who are putting out Gal Gun 2 uncensored. They actually called out NISA for making shit up about not being able to get through the ESRB here it's literally the only thing I know about them.

It did worse than Battleborn. If that's not an indication, I don't know what to tell you.

But they have games with lewd CGs, and the games still were rated T for Teen. No reason TMS should be censored when its less tame than Neptunia.

I've heard this before is there any sales numbers or links because I haven't heard shit all.

This game won't outsell Stella Glow worldwide even if it did outsell that game in Japan.
(Stella Glow had a 25k print run in Japan, if I remember correctly. #FE beat that in sales alone in its first week then collapsed)

The strong first print run did it a lot of favors in the US, even at the $50 price point.
And, that's retail-only.

Atlus games get heavy discounts on the eShop, so it makes sense that retail sales for their 3DS games are backed up by a high digital ratio.

Take note of games like Etrian Odyssey IV, which is already the highest-selling game in the franchise without digital sales included. The game has managed to get down to a price point of $9.99 on the eShop, and I expect quite a few opted for the digital version for that reason alone.

Do you have any source regarding this? This just might make me laugh so hard that I'll pass out
I love hearing how hard it's bombing. It's almost magical

Not a good indicator.

Then again, the game won't break 150k worldwide by end-2016, so it doesn't really matter. I'm actually half-expecting the localization and advertising costs alone costing more than what they'd make on the title by March 2017.

I am pretty sure someone must have the webm of the commercial. I don't have it right now.

user. Casuals wil always ruin the niche genre ghey attach to. But main cause of casuals are mostly caused by e-celebs and streamers/lets plays. Since these fuckers tend to.suck.dev/producer dick they will never give objective criticism to a shilled game. Every e-celeb.promotes dlc cut out of game and never call out the bullshit. Casuals eat that shit up from e-celebs.

It's not funny user…

I bought a copy of Stella Glow I missed out on the first print run got kind of bummed.

Not a commercial that I've heard, but its a good indication.

It's like that picture "How do you do fellow kids", only played completely straight.

This is a commercial they used to try and sell the game to kids are Nintendo just fucking retarded now?

The first print run isn't really worth the $50, I was thinking of Legend of Legacy which was at $40

Stella Glow owes its success to being an actual good game with enjoyable dialogue - if I remember correctly, it's actually outsold Legend of Legacy life-to-date excluding Japan.

They're just badly out of touch.

You are free to not watch it, I can't make decent WEBMs.

I've watched that video before it horribly amateurish and clearly just some kid who just put out shit he has on his mind. The guy may eventually be good but he seems like a good guy, just wish he wouldn't use those dumb meme faces.

I want to fuck that cat.

shiki pls go

He knows people don't like meme faces, but he also thinks his face is not exactly alluring and can't afford an artist, I would like to make some for him, but I am busy with other stuff right now.

They're a small publisher specializing in JP stuff. They brought Arcana Heart 3 to the West with a physical (!) release waaaaaaay before Aksys brought the 'Six Stars' updated version.
They also published Steins Gate on both PS3 and Vita.

They're pretty chill, and they seem to bring these games because they're fans of these themselves - so they know what, how and when to bring stuff over to the west.

I'll keep my eye out for them they seem cool.

This shit just makes me miss that period when Nintendo tried to outdo Sega's "attitude" with their commercials. Nintendo did a lot of in your face, absurd and weirdly disgusting ads during the Play It Loud era, but as a kid I fucking loved it. Hell, they get a lot of flack now, but those gross-out ads for Earthbound are what made me want to play that game.

So, I have to wonder if they're actually out of touch or whether this lame shit is just what gets kids attention now. I honestly have no idea.

Well I have cousins who range from 8-13 and not a single one of them has asked me about this #FE game.

Maybe that's because your cousins think you're a creep?

Naw I bought one of them a PS2 for x-mas and he asked me for game recommendations. They always ask me what some good games coming out are.

never clicking that shit.

No, it's the children who are wrong

we really need sega to step into console market again to be a antagonist to nintendo since sony is way ahead of ninty for them to compete against, and they're quite content with selling consoles that only sell zelda and monhun games while sabotaging all other developers who dared to make games for wiiu/3ds

...

How do you know it didn't sell out?

or maybe because nobody wants to play this censored cringefest, including japanese and people genuinely interested in smt/fe before

It's not really a high-activity store. Not that it's in the middle of nowhere, but kids around here are all about smartphones and football. As such, they often sell games at a discount. The XCX collector edition was the same price as the game alone and it took a week to sell all three copies they had, if that's any indication.

They did that long ago, FairyFencerF was the last game from them that NISA localized, as for the "stands against censorship", there;s that thing from months ago IFI said they will not bring over games if they had to censor them

They stuck with it too their Dungeon Crawler MeiQ ran afould os Australia's ratings board and was refused classification. IF responded by apologizing that the game will not be getting released in Australia. In Europe and NA the game only got a T-rating.

Wow apparently I'm really drunk and just mashing keys on my keyboard so I'm going to bed.

Wait that's actually true? I heard something about that but I found it hard to believe

I don't have any verification, but I'll add another voice.

It's true.

what a fucking cuck!

To make that made localization change money.

I remember the original video made me cutout a couple seconds after it started from how painful it was.

They want the dateless nerds on prom night audience.

Feels good not caring for either side of this game.

Dubs of truth.

Nintendo has definitely gotten lazy and complacent ever since they stopped trying to compete with Sony and Microsoft. Companies are always at their best when there's competition that they're trying to top. I hope that the NX is them trying to get back in the console race, but I somehow doubt it. We need a spunky newcomer console to come in and go straight for Nintendo's family market. Force them to either compete and evolve or get out of the way. They can't survive forever pandering to a family market that they're ignorant of how to appeal to, and a fanbase of manchildren that they wish would just go away.

They really need to get their house in order. We have the Japanese branch creating games for a wide variety of people, and then we have NoA who wants everything to be aimed at kids.

i manage to get the first print in fucking gamestop like a good goy, was the only place where they still have it.

...

I'm probably gonna go rent it at hastings before it closes down.
For all the hate it gets no one has ever talked about the acutally gameplay.
Plus I don't mind idolshit.

Some people said the gameplay was polished Persona 4 without turn press. Don't know if that's accurate, I'll play it on Loadiine with the uncensored patch once I buy a bigger SD card.

So basically a smaller team of XSeed-Tier localisers

It's on their website.
ideafintl.com/?p=3763

That's what happens when you alienate half of your potential customers on an already niche market.

I don't think anyone has the balls to pull it off. It would need to compete with billion dollar companies with huge install bases and brand loyalists, be unique enough to appeal over what's out there already, and get dev support, but with how expensive games are to create, this new competition would have to make MASSIVE waves and keep them up against competition until it came out with a bunch of games.

The only company I can think of that could do it is Apple.

...

Feels really bad, man. I just wanted a devil survivor type game but with a twisting FE storyline.

the game didnt even sell in it's home country so why would we want a version thats inferior to that anyway? not even getting into the fact thats this is a game no one wanted in the first place!

Interesting question.

Anyone reading this, do you think this game would've sold better if it had no association to SMT and FE, or do you think it would've sold worse and have been born into obscurity and left there? Or would it have been pretty much the same, considering how SMT and FE fans don't like the subject material anyway?

I'm not a fan of mainline SMT or FE, but I would have bought it since I like idols and Persona. I don't think the title makes much of a difference.

It would have sold better had it not been empty promises. People wanted smtxFE, not personaxFates.

Had it never been revealed to be a crossover, FE and SMT players would never have even looked at it. SMTfag here, it's not the setting I was looking for, and the designs look worse than IV's redesigns and I was even okay with some of those. But if I wanted Purseowner, I'd replay one released or wait till 5 comes out, not get this. The only reason I would have played it is if someone bought it for me and really wanted to see me play it, or I pirated it if someone recommended it.

Lol. It's going to bomb.

Nigga it already bombed.
Bombed in japan
Sold worse than Battleborn in the UK
Sold worse than Devil's Third and Might No. 9 in eshop sales

I didn't even know it was out.

I believe the name did more harm than anything. The game doesn't seem to be all that different from your typical Persona game (I'm saying this as an observer, my brothers playing a pirated copy with the uncensor patch) with it's own little spin on things. Completely removing it from it's name bearers arguably makes it look like a decent JRPG, if you're into the themes and designs and whatnot.

Being FExSMT however, there was an incredible spotlight on it from the very beginning. And that was a detriment, cause all you heard was 'This shit isn't what I was promised'. Having only slightly dabbled in the older SMT games and never touched a FE game in my life the reception and talk was negative from the get-go. And I'm not talking about Holla Forums here, this shit was blasted all over the place.

So yes, I think it would've faired a lot better had it been released as it's own thing. Then again, it's on the fucking WiiU and looking at recent game sales that shit was doomed from the get go.

There was no possible fucking way it was going to sell. Its only public is SJWs virtue signalling, and twatter isn't representative of the actual market

They definitely should have rebranded it as a Persona game. Persona's popular. It would have sold a little at least, even on a doomed system.

Savor the fan-service

This came out?

When will it end?

Yeah box art is public and can be seen by kids. I understand why box art needs to be toned down sometimes. Same reason why porn mags are put way up high in the back at gas stations.

Just learn the goddamned kanji, user. One by one…

The fact they censored means it has lost nearly all its appeal.

I disagree. It was that trailer which showed the crossover old fans wanted and what was in their ability to do so . Then the change happened which showed the attitude Nintendo and Atlus had towards it's old fans who helped build those series to what it was and how they were thrown to the side for easy sellout idol waifu bullshit.

#FE deserves all the shit it gets and if Atlus and Nintendo are telling us to fuck off, we should return the favor.

Here we go

B T F O

O

Perfect

Of course it would have done better. You'd think "Persona with idols" is a recipe for guaranteed success since it appeals to the exact same demographic. But thanks to the shitty execution and a trailer using placeholder assets that never should have been shown to begin with, there's a constant negative cloud surrounding it consisting of butthurt SMT and FE fans. It's all you ever hear about, moreso than even the censorship because censorship discussion inevitably goes back to "well the game is shit so who cares lol".

Probably would've done better under Compile Heart or Idea Factory as well, instead of the Atlus+Nintendo powerhouse so people's expectations would've been more appropriate. Sure they'd have to replace the Fire Emblem stands with original characters but it's not like the Fire Emblem aspect is important in any way whatsoever. Make them fucking Neps or something.

Persona with idols featuring Neptune and friends. Tell me that shit wouldn't sell.

I think it would've sold better had they not announced it before they even had an idea of what they wanted it to be like. People already thought it was vaporware after the teaser came out, and then when they finally show TMS everyone hates it because it's not what they expected at all.

It's also not what they advertised, either. Never leave that part out, mate.

Meh.

They just should make an anime of it like Persona and Pokemon does to advertise their games.

It'll probably do well too considering idolshit like Love Live! sell like crazy and the Persona anime does well, especially the OVA movies. Can't forget the merchandise either like any uncensored lewd figmas.

Oh and

This is NOT okay.

I'll fucking cut your throat mate. You take that back right now.

No matter how many times I read this I can't stop giggling at this. The sheer autism alone makes it worth the read.

I think that's a dude

Let's get a niche game that sold like shit in the east, release it in the west for a shit console that sold less than the vita, and then spend money censoring the shit out of it, INCLUDING REHIRING THE JAP VOICE ACTORS to redo lines, piss off its tiny niche western audience and then shill it to literal children on fucking Disney

gg Nintendo

no one posted sales numbers because there is no sales numbers outside the japanese launch and we already know the game flopped there. they will not post the sales numbers in america unless it does good and we can tell that it is selling like shit since even might number nope is beating it in the e-shop

Holy shit, that already speaks volumes on how badly this piece of shit is doing.

How far is mighty no.2 ranking in sales compared to TMS?

I would have actually bought it if not for the censorship. I love FE.

This has got to be embarrassing.

gonintendo.com/stories/260651-wii-u-eshop-charts-july-2nd-2016

Just some extra info for the eshop ranking;
-TMS had a pre-load option weeks ahead of release
-pre-loads sales don't count until release
-Mighty No 9. didn't have a pre-load option and the digital codes from backers don't count towards the ranking
-Mighty No.9 was also selling with the fact that it possibly bricked systems

I'm not really a big fan of FE (only played the GBA games) or SMT (only played persona 3) but i was tempted to grab it as a quirky idol jrpg and the gameplay actually looked decent. Censorship killed it for me, and i doubt i'm the only one. Treehouse shot themselves in the foot this time. I think the worst part is they tried to shift the blame on to Atlus too, so they knew they were fucking up but did it anyways.

Speaking of sweet dubs and blunders, check this shit out. Emma watson's newest feminist movie circlejerk sold 65$ on it's opening night!

archive.is/TEs2w

I bought every localized FE until this and Fates. Might pick it up from the bargain bin someday. Got Codename STEAM for about 15 bucks.

Thanks user. It's info like this that makes this trainwreck better and better.

How the fuck does that even happen, that shit's hilarious.

Yeah some of my friends are longtime Nintendo/FE fans and basically all of em abandoned ship after the Fates bullshit. One even went so far as to sell off all his Nintendo stuff which is the fan equivalent of ragequitting i guess. NoA/Treehouse is doing a great job at driving off the Nintendo fandom in the west.

The worst part is that Fates isn't even bad mechanically. Third route is shit but the other two are okay.

wew

Fucking hilarious.

How the fuck is it even possible for a movie with a big name actor to bomb this hard?

I just ended up getting Stella Glow for my srpg fix. No regrets, it turned out to be a really good game.

But Compile Heart already made an aidoru RPG. It just sucked dick.

He's right. It would be fun to change that smug expression into ahegao.

That's the boat that I'm currently in. After the hat trick of Fatal Frame, Xenoblade, and Fire Emblem, I lost a lot of faith in the big N. I certainly wouldn't sell off my Nintendo systems because there's still quite a few good non Nintendo games on them (well, the 3DS anyways). That said, I've definitely put a halt on buying actual Nintendo titles. I'm a huge Kirby fan and I haven't even gotten the new game yet because I'm waiting for it to show up used. NoA's attitude has really left a bad taste in my mouth, and I'd rather not support that.

Oh, and with this game doing less than stellar, now might be a good time to rev up those letters and let NoA know that you would have purchased this game if it wasn't censored.

Umm… No thanks. I want my porn to have pelvises and unfused boobs.

Codename STEAM is sadly overlooked, it's a good, challenging game.

...

...

...

I'm just sad that we aren't going to see weekly sales numbers like we do in Japan.

This shit bombed SO HARD in Japan that they probably rushed it to other territories in an attempt to recoup some of the development costs as quickly as possible.

Of course this game isn't going to sell all that well (it's on the Wii U ffs) but the sad thing is that NoA will use poor sales numbers to justify not bringing over future JRPGs and whatnot in the future.

That cheeky cunt.

Fine by me, I don't plan on buying any more of their systems.

They announced this back in that first Nintendo Direct of 2013, when they were desperate to get more attention and show THERE ARE GAMES COMING, PLEASE BUY OUR CONSOLE.

While at the same time showing pictures confirming a new Yoshi game in development, Xenoblade Chronicles X footage and then that "annoucement trailer" for SMTxFE.

The first two examples were good, because we had a rough idea what the games were.

But with SMTxFE we had no idea what it was apart from a bunch of preexisting SMT and FE character 2D art. Leading to people think there was a gonna be a whole bunch of FE references/character cameos. Instead of the mostly the most recent 3 Fire Emblem games instead.

That trailer/game should never have been announced when the game's direction wasn't even finalized.

I hate to be that one faggot, but I think even a real SMTxFE game would have flopped if it was handled as poorly as this. Not to mention Awakening/Fates and Purse Owner fags would complain that their waifus isn't getting the most screentime.

How can censorship apologists even defend direct contradictions like this?

It pisses me the fuck off that THIS is the Atlus game that keeps original audio.

You're kinda late on bitching about Fatlus' dub only localization. They been doing that since the DDS days.

...

Had it just been advertised as an J Idol RPG featuring Chrom the Fire Emblem Series from the start, I don't think people would have cared as much nor would the backlash been as big as it was, old FE fans would have scoffed at the direction the series was taking and some weebs would lap it up and that would have been that; a forgettable mediocre jrpg with a shit ton of issues. As it stands, it really just shows how little Fatlus and Nintendo care about there older fans if they think that they could just make a J Idol game You know, an element that wasn't present in either series and call it an SMT x FE in name only and then expect fans to eat it up without question when originally advertising it as something that it wasn't.

What the hell happen to Nintendo? Where did everything go so wrong?

Their soul died.

SJWs took over without anyone noticing, then Iwata died and Reggie opened the flood gates.

You can make a idol game sell. Omega Quintet did just fine. Got it myself when it went cheap on PSN recently.

Shinobu has a ton of smug screenshots fit into that.

Nintendo was the most obvious game company known to SJWs so they started rushing it in massive amounts. Not even niche stuff is safe though, hell the Japanese are even starting to self censor like with Star Ocean 5 (which thankfully bombed). You can't just run from this shit anymore, unless some way is found to actively stop them they'll ruin everything in every country.

This has been something I'll never understand about Nintendo's recent localization practices.

They act like and invest like every game they bring over is going to be a gorrillion units sold and because of that, it needs to have as much mass market appeal as possible.

They act like little Timmy is going to get home from bible school and ask if the whole family wants to gather around for a rousing game of "Tokyo Mirage Sessions", where they'll all laugh and have a gay old time, enjoying modern memes, modest clothing, and not being offended by having to acknowledge that foreign cultures have different standards.

The shit they've been localizing lately is the niche of niche shit. We're talking about games for the goddamned Wii U, for fuck's sake. There isn't a huge audience to begin with and they're expecting that, of the few weebs who still own Wii Us and also like niche jRPG idoru-shit, they NEED to, HAVE to censor and butcher the entire game just so that tiny audience doesn't get offended?

So, this either means that Nintendo is fucking retarded, or the reasons they're giving us Is total bullshit.. This idea of culturalization and that players might be squicked out by teenaged cleavage, like they can't see that shit every day at school, doesn't fly. It makes no sense.

What does that leave us? Well, we've got the gaming press being a bunch of puritanical busybodies who throw a fucking shitfit every time they see something that doesn't jive with feminism.

So our explanations is that Nintendo, the oldest game company around, is completely out of touch, or they been made to feel threatened, from inside and out, to make their shit SocJust hipster approved, or face the wrath of bad PR.

It's in these times when we realize just how much we needed Iwata and how much he did to stop Reggie from completely fucking NA players over. He may not have taken the wisest decisions sometimes, but he definitely wanted everyone to have fun and enjoy videogames.

We'll never have someone as honest in that regard as him.

How do we get out of this mess?

Can we?

I have been watching stuff here and there and Miyamoto's iron fist could not be possible if Japanese weren't such pussies sometimes, apparently all this "respect" other devs can have for him cripples their creativity by making them unable to stand up and defend their concepts from the start.

Something similar seems to have happened when the director of Dark Souls II ended up making all them generic stuff and uninspired design choices, not to mention the retarded difficulty concept.

Its because the game was unpopular even in Japan. If a game is liked you can bet there would at least be some lewds.

But there is none.

Fire all hipster cunts inside the company. Get them out of the goddamned cafe. Get them out of the treehouse. Give them no authority.

Stop working with 8-4 for anything. Those faggots are cancer through and through. Largely responsible for the idea of needing to "culturalize" games, which is their pseudo-intellectual way of saying they need to shame Japan for not being more feminist.

Hire people who like games for games and have the mental fortitude to accept that other creators have their own artistic vision and it's better to present the customer with that vision than to shit all over their expectations and tell them that they can't handle bare skin on fictional 16 year olds.

especially when you consider dark souls 2 is the hardest, best balanced one with the most unique exploration that didn't try to tie its lore to preexisting memes
man that really brings it all into frame

Too bad is the hardest in the wrong way, adding three times the amount of enemies with high poise and less wind-up is not precisely rewarding, although the problem comes from the fact that crowd control is not what Dark Souls specializes.

...

What's happening right now in gaming is a small version of what's happening in the western world. Nothing short of some grand cultural shift will stop it.

I actually agree, thing that got me most in the end was that there was no reason to make anything but a quality build with a straight sword. I think that's the reason you don't even see it talked about here anymore, there's fuckall for build variety so there's fuckall replayability.

The main directors were Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura for Dark Souls 2, not Hidetaka Miyazaki. He just supervised but had no direct involvement in the second game.

Not to go full Holla Forums but I think SJWs in the vidya industry is a symptom of a bigger problem. And this might not only apply to NoA ir it doesn't apply at all.

A lot of NoA's veteran localizers already left the company a decade ago. I mean what better way to replace experienced labor than with underpaid internships with millennials fresh out of college since 2000's right?

Reggie fucking knows niche games don't sell as well as he likes. And millenial college kids are offended by FUCKING EVERYTHING it makes since he would put these snowflakes in charge of localization. The more changes NoA has to make for a game, the more money Nintendo has to pay them to do it. Which means more money in Reggie's pockets.

Precisely, they practically didn't want to touch anything that Miyazaki did as if it was sacred and could be soiled by mistake.

While it would be nice to pinpoint one moment or reason and be able to say "This is where it all went south!" I don't know if there is one. There's probably a bunch of different reasons for their current situation.

With the NES and SNES, Nintendo was on top of the world, but that all started to crumble with the N64. Third parties leaving Nintendo for Sony hurt them hard, and it's been something that they never really recovered from. A lot of fan favorite franchises jumped over to the Playstation, and with them went a good chunk of gamers who maybe played those games more than they did Mario or Zelda. While we did see some third party franchises like Castlevania and Megaman make an appearance on the N64, they were largely considered inferior to their entries on PS1.

To make up for their lack of third party support, Nintendo tried to make more than just games aimed at kids, and utilized NoA and Rare to make and market games that would appeal to older western players. In an effort to compete with Sony, we got a fair amount of experimentation from Nintendo with an emphasis on appealing to both children and adults. Hell, when Conker was coming out, they set up a bar at E3 to advertise the game and gave out Conker condoms and beer mugs. At the end of it all, though, they still weren't back at number one.

Things became more of a struggle with the Gamecube era, because now they had both Sony and Microsoft to compete against. It's here where they started to win back some of the third parties that had left them in the previous generation. They also continued releasing games like Eternal Darkness, Geist, and Metroid Prime, which were aimed at an older western audience. In addition to that, they worked with third parties to try and get franchises that were big on Sony, like Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid, onto the Gamecube. That wasn't enough though, and the system did even worse than the 64.

Now we get to the Wii, which was Nintendo saying "Well, we can't compete with Sony and MS, so we're going to do our own thing. From the very beginning, the Wii was built and marketed as a system for families. It was something that kids, parents, and grandparents could all play together because all you had to do was wave your arms. This, as we all know, paid off huge for them. They abandoned the core market and shot back to the top.

This is where they got cocky and short sighted. They figured that this new install base would stick with them. All they had to do was make sure this new system had Wii in the name and the people would flock to it. They didn't take into account how many of those Wii users actually used it for more than Wii Sports and Wii fit, though. Unlike the Wii which had a great advertising campaign that told people exactly what it was, people were just confused about the Wii U and didn't really care enough to find out more. It's low install base made third parties not want to go through the hassle of developing for it, and it began losing what few exclusives it had.

Nintendo was careless, flew too close to the sun and are back where they were before the Wii. So, instead of NoA trying to get more games made to try and appeal to the western market like they did in N64 an NGC days, they're desperately trying to reclaim families and children that now care more about Minecraft than Nintendo. They have no idea how to do that though, so they aimlessly try and mold everything to fit what they think kids want. Them being in such a weakened and frantic state over the past few years is what allowed >>9987766 to happen.

Maybe they'll turn things around with the NX, but with Nintendo completely trusting NoA to make it a success in the west, I doubt it. The new president seems like he could be no nonsense, so I hope he comes over and gets shit in order.

Then there's stuff like where they're too afraid to give Miyamoto the desk by the window and move on without him. I love Shiggy and I love the games he's made, but it's time for some fresh blood. He's expressed a lot of interest in Nintendo's movie making venture, so put him in charge of that.

Ghostbusters has to fail and we got ourselves a wonderful year of sjws and bs getting destroyed.

Gotta pray the Chinese don't bother with the movie.

Even then I doubt the NX will be good, because they're only now manufacturing it and are really silent about it for fear of people "copying their ideas".

I totally agree about moving on with Miyamoto though. I respect him and he's no doubt part of many peoples childhoods, but nowadays he brings down more games than he does save them, like with Star Fox Zero and Paper Mario Sticker Star

Last I heard it wasn't even opening in China. They only allow a limited number of foreign movies every year, and this wasn't chosen as one of them. Something about the Chinese regarding movies about evil ghosts as disrespectful to the dead and in bad taste.

I have to agree with this I mean Splatoon is the most interesting thing Nintendo has put out in years. Yet absolutely none of their well recognized talent is attached to it.

As a Pokemon fan I also wish they moved on, the last bunch of games have had the worst new mechanics I have seen and apparently we are getting Digimon Frontier stuff in Gen7.

Not to mention them taking everything out that was interesting.
Pokemon has got to be one of the shittiest RPGs alive today.

Taking out?

That's the thing though, the RPG part of Pokemon is pretty dull now since there's nothing to wow people with and its basic, the only real appeal to the game is trying to catch every single Pokemon out there.

But since there's almost a thousand of them now doing so is one of the most mind numbingly dull tasks ever.

I wish they'd move on too since the series just sort of lost me around Gen 5's release, I didnt care for it as much as D/P or HG/SS. But I know why they do weird shit like never reintroduce the Gen 3 contest format, why there's barely any good post game content now on Gen 2-4's level, because there's a never ending supply of kids that'll play it anyways, so they can do whatever they want and still make money either way

Not only the number, but the designs as well. Most pokemon are conceptually dull now, like the keyring fucker or the ice-cream, so catching them loses some of its appeal.

It's just not cool, on a very basic and primal level, to catch those things.

Don't forget about the trash bag Pokemon from Gen 5. Maybe I am a jaded fart after all who finds it easier to cherry pick examples, but some of the new designs just look retarded.

Yes, absolutely. Only then would I have considered buying it because as it is in its current form is nothing but a mockery of two series I loved, that was my all star dream crossover game. Now I can't even have hope in a real SMTxFE because it works as advertisement for real idols, there's already talks for a sequel.

I fucking hate Nintendo and Intelligent Systems and especially fucking Atlus for wanting idolshit money. Someone raise me from the dead whenever Okada and Kaneko get back together.

That one looks OK, its evolution is horrendous, same with the barnacle pokemon.

They take out the things to do that they added with the Gen. Pokeball making, Poke contests, Safari Zone (I don't count XYs weak excuse), Battle Frontier also got severely watered down, Secret bases, nighttime, seasons, etc.

Pokemon is a shit RPG because there's nothing to its world so it can't draw you in and if I wanted to fight real people with Pokemon, I'd just go play one of the free things on the net. I'd talk about the poor excuse for a story they all have, the shit excuse for challenge, and the need for two more move slots but it's not like we're ever gonna get either.

I only need mew and the steam fucker to have them all in my possession. Sucks there's no way to trick the online part into letting me trade with a friend.

Obligatory

Oh, I forgot about those, yep, sometimes when I played Gen3 I wished I could fly to my secret base so I would set it up in a convenient spot.

Magnezone saved the Magnemite line.

...

well then

Key difference; nobody cares about a shitty vita game who's only retail release is going to be Amazon and if they're lucky, gamestop

That vid

can someone post some comparison art to see what you faggots are going on about.

This game was shit before the censorship.

Is this the end of Nintendopes?

Will the Sonyggers triumph once again?

Do macro$hitters still intend to still up the industry?

Find out on the next episode of

Being corporate PR must be a soul sucking job, they know this is the inferior/worse version but due to being afraid of SJW scum they're peddling it like christmas

They also rewrote the dialogue/story of these parts of the game, including rerecording 340 lines of Japanese voice overs, so the Japanese audio matches the new censored dialogue.

They also censored the artbook that comes with the special edition.

...

those fucking overalls

They also took out Pokemon following you!

...

The didn't even change the cleavage in the first one. They just made her skin the same color as her clothes.

...

That's whats more annoying, most of these changes are 4kids levels of censored or completely pointless since they're so half assed. Even more annoying is that NoA put all the blame on Atlus, and Atlus themselves aren't allowed to talk about it.

I have an overalls fetish so I think its hot as fuck

Its still censorship regardless

I wonder if Reggie is getting ready to leave NoA because of his current policies.

Overcensoring niche franchises for audit money and neutering sales to never sell said niche franchises again is a very short sighted strategy. Same with relying only on cash cow franchises until they stop selling AKA the Bobby Kotick strategy.

Unless Reggie is banking on Nintendo flagship IPs to do well in non-vidya media and theme parks I don't see Reggie staying with Nintendo much longer. Especially if he's limiting his audience to one universal demographic as opposed to multiple demographics with different tastes.

fuck no he's going balls deep in selling out and has the safety net of wii,ds, and 3ds sales.

Nintendo is gonna be a shit company in our eyes but it will be mobile and merchandize that will be making money, shit look at the amiibo defenders that pop up every once in a while.

I doubt if the shareholders haven't questioned now about the gaming decisions reggie or treehouse has done, they aren't going to do that anytime in the future.

My friends yesterday were talking about how much they were playing pokemon GO. It might be just the hype/honeymoon phase but if that is any indication then Nintendo still has profits for the future with their continued bullshit.

So do you think Nintendo in five years is going to drop making video game hardware and become exclusively third party for mobile and merchandising?

they'll be trying to make their own mobile phone device so they can implement amiibo shit in it.
They might throw out a zelda and mario and then out source a mobile metroid and f-zero to our dismay.
I doubt they'll be throwing out a home console after the NX and just go straight to handheld and mobile. Maybe have a "gamer" phone with buttons and analog so devs can develop some kind of games that aren't complete mobile shit but nintendo won't waste their time putting effort in their games anymore.

Dobson's making himself a big kid.

Holy shit, it's like they've never seen a wedding.

I can do a way better job simulating a camisole than these faggots, they repainted everything that shows skin and didn't properly cover the cleavage.

I think Reggie actually wants the niche market to crumble and stick to the casual market for Nintendo, basically it could be completely deliberate on his part.

As for Amiibo, I haven't seen anything worthwhile for some time now, I am no collector but even that market seems to be pretty much abandoned by now, for starters they think they can go for amiibo cards and save on 3D printing costs I assume.

...

At this level of kool aid chugging, I'm surprised they didn't turn all the girls into "non conventional beauties".

Berenstain.jpg

Like Sashay in Pokemon Battle Revolution?

More like Sera from Cisquisition.

Just fucking end the western world already. It's been ruined by hipster and niggers. Actually the rest of the world is fucked up too. Summon the damn memeteor already.

Have you never played a jrpg before? That shit was common before GF decided to say "fuck it, let's just copy digimon and get that sweet furry money.".

That's one thing I liked about the 90's era of Nintendo (of America). They seemed a lot more aggressive and independent compared to NoA now.

Getting licenses for things like Star Wars, James Bond, NBA, etc gave them a bit of a diverse exclusive line up on their hardware.

Then the GCN era happened, NoA lost it's balls for some reason. Coupled with he loss of Rare to Microsoft and not getting any "Rare replacement" western company to back them up really screwed them over.

It's fucking crazy to see the sales numbers of Goldeneye for the N64 (the best selling game of that year) and yet Nintendo never went Hey we need our own exclusive FPS franchise because that sells hardware!
Then when Nintendo finally came up with their own original shooter Splatoon, it's been 16 years since that happened. (and to top it off was made by their younger staff members).

It almost feels like Perfect Dark (and it's lower sales numbers but still selling millions) scared Nintendo away from FPS. Geist (which got low reviews for poor perfomance and many delays) on the GCN really didn't help either. (Even then Tanabe considered that instead of a FPS was a FP action adventure game like Metroid Prime).

...

I honestly don't know why I keep coming here.

What are some good aspects of the game? Because no one talks about it.

Of course, with a completely different title and maybe some character name changes the worst it could've happened would be a few fans being mad because the devs are working on this game instead of other mainline titles, which is better than a horde of fans who feel betrayed for what they were originally expecting

Nigga, you need to explain what's going on in that pic.

What a shitty fetish.

Have you you never seen the full picture? Hownewru?

It's nothing like FE.

Unless it's Nohr then it's complete irredeemable shit.

Mechanically, it's a pretty good JRPG. The level curve is well set up so that you never HAVE to grind - or rather, you'll grind exactly enough in the process of getting lost in the dungeons or doing sidequests.

Typical of Persona/SMT, there's a mechanic involving hitting enemy weak spots. In this one, your other party members can join in the attack if it hits a weak spot, creating a big chain combo and earning you more money and items. It's pretty satisfying, though after a few hours of dungeon exploration you wish you could skip the animations.

The game milks the idol theme for all its worth, with everything about the interface, design and items all tying back into the showbiz motif.

Tsubasa's tits are glorious.

The translation is less retarded and meme-ridden than usual for NOA, possibly because they kept the Japanese voices so they can't go too far off what's actually being said. It's just a shame that the dialogue often isn't that great to begin with.

All in all, it's a pretty run-of-the-mill "comfort food" kind of JRPG. It has some fun characters, some very cliched scenes, and some okay music. The mechanics are pure Persona, the Fire Emblem connection is such an afterthought I honestly keep forgetting its there until I hear the level up fanfare, and the story is such absolute fluff the game could have been named "Tales Of Idolindustry".

Generally, it feels like a placeholder Persona to tide you over until 5 comes out. Or possibly a Chinese Persona knock-off, as bits of it aren't quite… right. (Notably the music, which sounds like it's TRYING to be Persona music but isn't catchy enough.)

It could have been a moderate niche hit if they hadn't repelled most of the target audience by censoring it.

...

...

Could all this censoring be avoided if you just learn nippon and play the jap version?

And the worst part about it is those same SJW scumbags aren't gonna play this game. Ever!

I'll never buy the "you just hate it because it's popular" line. If fire emblem remained niche, I guarantee none of the execs would have made the moves they did regarding the series.

This was the announce trailer.

It had most mainline SMT games represented, without a single hint of Persona, and most FE main characters. There were lots of rumors, but most figured it'd either be an SRPG like FE or a JRPG like Digital Devil Saga, and since both series usually have such bleak stories they were expecting something that had a much darker tone, like demons invading the FE world.

The game then turned out to be a toned down Persona. A lot of people were pretty rightfully pissed when they found out.

Me, personally though, I'm alright of moeshit and, despite the HUGE let down this game was I was going to give it a chance since I've not played a console JRPG since the original DS came out. Once all the censorship came to light I promptly dropped it.

Don't think this thing counts as moe shit.

Fund it

Nothing will ever change and eventually nip games will become fucked by this disese too.

I just realized now that the last one is a moeshit version of my favorite cum dumps.

Wow, they actually just colored in the spandex on the far right girl under her panties

Wii U games are easily piratable with Loadiine. There's also an uncensor patch IIRC.

Why would you pirate and play garbage though? My main problem with most of the WiiU games besides the obvious ones (Bayo, Splatoon, etc) is that they're all gimicky, overpriced shit that would be better on a handheld like Wooly World and Rainbow Curse. I don't think they're bad nessicarily, but not worth the money.

Street Fighter V, Star Ocean 5, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions were censored in Japan because of western influence.

Well of course there'd be no reason to even bother with piracy if you don't like the games for it, I'm just saying not everyone who has played this bought it.

Actually, Tokyo Mirage Sessions was untouched in Japan. The censorship only affects the western release. (Japan was involved in the censorship only in that they actually got the voice actors back to record some new lines for the censored version, so that the dialogue is completely censored, not just given an inaccurate subtitle. Mostly Tsubasa repeatedly stating her age.)

But yes, the Street Fighter V and Star Ocean censorship affected Japan too. The fans were not happy.

lewdgamer.com/2015/12/03/nintendo-might-have-changed-genei-ibun-roku♯fe-and-it-looks-stupid/

That was an overall character design change. Check the promo art in the OP.

A "character design change" made specifically to cover up more skin. Kind of like all the other censorship they made to the western version.

Digimon came out a year before Pokemon did in the us.
It left no impact as you can see.
Copying digimon is something no one does even if mentally challenged because of how mediocrely bad that franchise is and this is me saying it as a digimon fan.

Look, I hate the censorship and what was done to this title as much as anyone else and will probably never buy a Nintendo product again, but I think you're barking up the wrong tree here. A character's design goes through hundreds of iterations before the final product. You can't just call every rejected design "censorship". Especially not when we have so many examples of stupid shit they did to this game. If this is censorship, then you've watered down the meaning so much that you could say that every video game to ever come out has been censored in some way, because no first design is ever the final.

Rise's original casual design had her wearing a cute tank top, which obviously shows more skin than the final version. The final version being that frumpy retail outfit instead of a tank top is not censorship.

Good point. I heavily doubt that the 'version 1.0' of every character is what is used at the end. Kanji originally looked like a bookworm type for example.
It's different when you redesign characters because the previous versions simply 'don't click' or the story/scenario needs a certain X character to work so a previous version is reworked into said character. This occurs during the planning and dev phase.

Censorship such as #FE's occurs after the game is already done (or at least the story and scenario are). Changes are made due to 'muh regional markets'. Fuck that shit. I simply find it abhorrent how people bastardize foreign work just because it's 'different'. The point of foreign works is to immerse yourself in different cultures and learn more about the world. It's no wonder the typical amerifat is ignorant of the whole world, as everything is marketed to them in the most vapidly watered down burger-ized version.

Except this was obviously changed after the concept art phase. It is exactly the same as the western censorship of the wedding dress.

Not to mention, the zipper panty version of the outfit was shown off at E3 2015

Every time I see this pic I hope she finds someone to play ducks with

The series did but Bandai like everyone else was too stupid to notice what drew people and and fucked it up along with not really advertising Digimon games outside of magazines.

All they really need to do is grab that edge that was Tamers for the story, find the most liked gameplay/difficulty of the Digimon games, focus and advertise the waifus, and let the internet do the rest. Pokemon only has waifus and nostalgia fueling it with no other competition. They need to either put the games up on PC or actually release the ones on 3DS.

she plays something else instead

Digimon really didn't leave anything in America.
It did in spic countries but nearly all anime did.
Dbz could be a political party that never loses.

And not completely throwing out the origional concept to never return, which everyone wanted, that was the big one of course.

Being from the Latam region, I can attest to this. Everyone likes DBZ. It's like a common thread that links everybody.

I just found that image on Holla Forums. what's the sauce?

What a crock of shit. Magazine covers, movie covers, and CD covers get away with anything. I just can not stand how video games are somehow exempt from that.

I don't remember. I just know that it looks familiar, and the only manga I read is h-manga, so it probably ends with her getting fucked.

There was a Lionhead interview recently that talked about it. They wanted a, I think it was a black female, on one of the Fable games but marketing wouldn't let them.

I really hate American advertising. Still, at least the ESRB aren't total nazis like CERO.

Ah here we go, I found it.
exhentai.org/g/499190/c8f20cfbb4/

thanks. I'll read it later.

where were you when sharia law was instituted?

It's shit like this that made me learn Japanese and try to avoid localizations whenever possible. I felt a little ashamed when I started up SMT III in English, but its localization is actually good, at least, from what I've compared. Probably won't play too many Megatens in English though just because Japanese suits the series better.

Putting girls in hijab was supposed to be a joke.

It was supposed to be a joke.

What a powerful force meme magic is.

What the fuck I got passed Panda what happened?

Maybe you aren't a high enough level to see it.

The title is "[Shiina Kazuki] Inran Ningyou Hime | Hime the Lewd Doll [English] {doujin-moe.us}" if you want to google it.

Only because it was stupid and pointless virtue signalling.

Thanks, the usual work around wasn't working.

You can't learn Japanese

But what choice do you have now? This censorship, it hasn't begun.

Well you could argue you get more amount of virtual cloth for your money.

China have a blanket ban on anything showing undead of all types, animated bones to ghosts are forbidden, even certain vampire types. They claim religious reasons. Check for the forsake in WoW, and even some characters in an assfaggots but I can't remember which.

I hear they also take issue with movies/tv shows depicting time travel for…. I dunno, reasons I guess.

sad

It appears they aren't that stupid afterall. If Jews can do it, then so can Europe.
