Nintendo pretends to listen to fan feedback about new Paper Mario

Only to backtrack and say

Is it really that hard to make something like Paper Mario 64?

Are they seriously backpedaling after they basically told fans of the RPGs to just stick to M&L a few weeks ago?

Nutendo will never make it work again

I believe it when I see it.

...

I liked the first two Paper Mario games more than is probably healthy and all, but I honestly was never all that invested in the whole "they're actually flat paper" concept. Being stylized does not mean being literally two dimensional. Interesting ways to explore levels is always a good thing, but I could easily leave the whole flat thing behind.

In my interpretation, Mario was only flat when he did those special paper tricks, people and things weren't flat otherwise.

I guess you can say it's like they gave it a storybook appearance, but they didn't entirely revolve around paper puns and wanted to make a regular RPG.

Yeah but you had scenes where eg Mario would blow away or whatever. It wasn't deep but it happened often enough to remind you of the aesthetic

That should be an instant red flag that this is entirely opinionated.

"I-IT'S PAPER MARIO, GUYS! B-BELIEVE US!"

Mario/Luigi is the RPG series now, if you want a mario RPG go play M&L. Its been confirmed that this is the case. When sticker star was in development it was just a lazy, mediocre copy of TTYD and Miyamoto told them to cut it the fuck out and make something original.

A borderline walking sim isn't original

Thats what people wanted after Super Paper Mario.

And the "original" route they went with sucked because it was just so badly designed, Sticker Star is honestly one of the worst games I've ever played.

PM and M&L are pretty much the exact same spinoff I dont think it makes sense for them to branch off

On a scale from 1 to Kill Myself, how bad is this new PM game going to be?

yeah, no, fuck you, I wanted my chain chomp partner.

draw a warm bath and sharpen the razor.

Fuck off thats a Mushroom joke and a reference to a mario party minigame

No you jackass, it's a Watergate reference.

>tfw Miyamoto and Intelligent Studios could've had a great 3DS game but scrapped that for "muh stickers"
It still hurts, Holla Forums.

Must be a hard life having their cock so far up your own ass.

And whats worse is that Nintendo doesnt care or even try anymore.

Come on, after a bad E3 last year they killed their president

Did a bit of reading up on the situation.

The staff for Sticker Star consisted of 10% veterans, 90% newcomers, with the directors of the previous games (Ryota Kawade, Kaoru Kita and Toshitaka Muramatsu) being demoted, the former only getting a special thanks. The director for that game was Naohiko Aoyama, the art director for the first game. So basically, the dev team was full of newfgs who didn't know what the fuck they were doing, and that's probably going to be the case with fucking Color Splash.

You're delusional if you think GG is relevant enough anymore to be referenced by anybody but the most jaded SJW indie "devs".

Herro, my name is Shigeru Miyamoto. I am the creative director for many great games. But many people don't rike these games so I wanted to personarry terr you why you are wrong and how these games are actuarry quite great. Sticker Star was pretty much just Paper Mario with new levels and characters. It needed to be remade because it was much too rike the other games in its series that preceded it. Fucka ru for thinking this great mechanics are bad it will be recurring until you recognize my genius.

Yeah, and Shiggy going senile as fuck didn't help.

...

Why the fuck do developers do this? Why the fucking shit can't they do a perfect, round-numbered 100? It fucking annoys me to no end in every game I see it.

wouldnt that fuck with your le ocd more to have all two digit numbers except one?

It's official. Nintendo is full blown retarded.

It hurts. What's worse is that now even M&L has gone down the same route with Paper Jam. Dream Team and Inside Story were colorful and full of life, while Paper Jam was basically main series Mario with M&L gameplay and a Paper Mario cameo. And all the fucking NPCs were generic Toads. Like, what the fuck man?

I'm not memeing you nigger, it legitemately annoys me. Here's your anti sage

...

stopped reading here

LET ME FUCKING GUESS, HE'S THE PRINCE OF THE ISLAND CURSED AFTER THE COLOR WAS TAKEN AWAY
WHAT THE FUCK IS SO BAD ABOUT PARTNERS AND AESTHETICALLY VARYING CHARACTERS? WAS MIYAMOTO RAPED BY A CHILDHOOD FRIEND OR SOME SHIT?

It's not "popular belief", they literally showed the game at E3 and it's the same fucking shit.

I thought they were dead.

Starlow is pretty cute though and she's almost like Goombella except she has that tsundere thing going on with Luigi. But this new partner shit in the paper series is bull and we don't need more floating partners who do nothing but say stuff since that's what Starlow is for.

It's like every Mario spinoff was made behind Miyamotto's back, and then Sticker Star was the first time he walked into the room when they were planning it out.

Then they had to add an overworld map divided by stages, remove any traces of new characters or personalities, remove any semblance of humor, make Bowser not talk, and make the gameplay as mainstream as possible.

Well.
That's what I'd like to believe. That one man is the cancer that could easily be cut out.
Unfortunately I'm pretty sure the entire team was to blame, not just him. It's never going to be good again. Even if they brought back the gameplay they would still make it as generic and bland as possible.

If Mario and Luigi's combat got as complicated as Paper Mario's and they added badges, I'd be okay with this.
Paper Mario can be it's own thing but throwing away all the elements that made the old one good when you have another rpg you can funnel them into is retarded.

Paper Mario can save an origami dove in a weird twodimensional threedimensional platformer.
Just put TTYD's stellar combat ideas into M&L outside of just the Bros. Attacks.

especially when Paper Mario came first.

Except that's nobody mentioned GG except you retard.

Its a watergate reference.

in Bowser's Inside Story she's fine as a character and is actually moderately important to the story
in Dream Team she was unnecessary and was just there to be the brother's mouthpiece while attempting humor every now and again, I could've gone without it, but it wasn't a deal breaker
in Paper Jam shes fucking annoying and pretty much exclusively serves as a plot explainer for the mentally handicapped

PURE
FUCKING
COINCIDENCE

...

Except it isn't a coincidence and they setup an interview in advance?

You have a point, especially since in two moments of the game she goes full "Dora the Explorer" on the player. But still, that teeth scene… I would brush her mouth all day…

Never forget what once was.

Do the new paper marios have the old soundeffects for the menu and dialog menus? TTyD was basically PM64 2.0 but I like that they kept the sounds to tie em together like that.

Sometimes I think that therte must be an overlap between Nintendrones and SJW, seeing how rabit they defend all the SJW bullshit they get thrown at.

I honestly thought it was a Watergate reference, but the fact that the Toad links it to his career being ruined kinda makes suspect it's a reference to both Watergate and GG.

They want the biggest number so they can count the most things. Why else?

Regardless of whether or not its a GG or Watergate reference, Nintendo is indeed infested with SJWs.

Well duh. If they weren't before they certainly were after the Tomogachi Life controversy. That shit made them crap their pants so hard that even Nintendo of Japan had to respond and make their games more diverse and POC out of fear rather than actual personal decision.

Super Paper Mario was acceptable because it was still a good game after the genre shift. The new Paper Marios aren't just designed by people who don't understand the success of the first two games, it almost seems like they're designed by people who don't understand RPGs or video games as a whole.

It's better than nothing.

Of course.

Threadly reminder

...

holy fuck that pisses me off
you know damn well all that means is that you'll get one or two red toads that talk about fly fishing or some shit and then later in the game will have an extra line about fly fishing
that doesn't fucking make up for a complete lack of visual variety with characters

I've said it before (obviously not to everyone here), but Ninty died when Iwata died. For a guy with a face of stone, he was the heart of the company. Shigeru is a goofy fucker but he has no idea what the fuck he's doing anymore, and is slowly running the company into the ground.

But Sticker Star came out when Iwata was still alive.

The cancer had him

If you read

Iwata had really no clear part in Sticker Star. He had given up, and his responses were "It's what the guy wanted". He was probably already too weak from the cancer.

Honestly it seems to me that the cancer killing the west has finally made it to Japan, it's only a matter of time until it kills it to. I mean the line that she said here

Is virtually identical to when that idiot said "Fortunately we have a product for thos who want to play old xbox360 games, it's called the xbox360." Fuck these people

So our only hope after this is if Nintendo remasters the first two games. And they end up selling well.

Because if and when this game doesn't meet expectations, I imagine NoJ are simply going to go "well I guess nobody wants Paper Mario anymore" and never touch it again.

I would be mad as hell if Nintendo did that, they can barely make good RPGs as it is, killing an entire series because their new game sucked is the worst thing a publisher can do.

Now that I think about it I could see Nutendo making a gg reference over a outdated Watergate one. it's really weird all these defenders came out of nowhere

I liked Super Mario RPG and hated Super Paper Mario. Should I play any of the other Paper Mario games? I know everyone hated the Sticker one.

It's worth playing 64, never tried TTYD yet. Fuck any game that came after that

Paper Mario 64 and TTYD are the only ones worth playing

PM64 established most of PM's conventions and is like a traditional Mario game told as an RPG, TTYD builds off that game with a more in-depth battle system and does things outside of the Mushroom Kingdom

I'd say play them in order partially because I prefer PM64, TTYD has a bit of backtracking now and then but they're both good games

For all that the SJW clique and virtue signalling "gamer" faggots harp about wanting female link, how come you never hear them bitch about wanting female mario or luigi?

Play 64 like said, and you are hereby required to play TTYD.

that's happened to virtually all semi-niche IPs and developers (and lesser publishers to a certain extent) in the 2000s of the Western world
**>sell watered down, subpar game that's the 2nd worst in the series
development team is shuttered, series gets tossed into the crawlspace where all their abandon IPs are

"cRPGs are dead, cRPGs are obsolete, archaic, and over :-)"

Because the idiots don't find Mario and Luigi attractive since they're not good yaoi/yuri material for their dumb asses.

I miss the days when it was literally Mario Story and not literally Paper. Fucking shit. I miss the bosses most of all…

Damn, it's always "it's better than nothing" so I can't fill out any spaces.

...

Because people would fap to them and make porn of them, and then people would complain like with Linkle

Mario isn't a series like Zelda where you can pretend to like it to get "nerd cred" with other people who only pretend to like things.

Paper Mario is dead.

it's FedFarce Syndrome

sells well; sets the tone for every Mario RPG
sells poorly; kills the series

i want starlow to be my mouth piece
on my dick that is

...

well, just had to make sure

...

it is an absolute travesty that there is no material of these two using their massage powers on each other

That's the think about the first. The "Paper" aesthetic was nothing more.
In TTYD anything that involved paper was a curse inflicted on Mario. None of them were really paper in a sense.
Now all of a sudden it's all about paper mache, arts and crafts supplies, and appliances. Talk about losing touch with the source material.

Nintendo's just trying to have their cake and eat it too, like when they did Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. Expect this to be trash.

There are many missed opportunities in a post-Miyamoto world, sadly.

good lord the thighs on that Goomba girl…shortstacks are the best

...

UHHHHH
THICKER

I just wanted my "ShyGuy and Snifit vandalize public property" game

All I have is Jolene and Vivian and this one ShyGal.

Shy guys are underutilized in most Mario games. It's a shame since they're so plucky.

Thank you. This fixes everything.

Now I'm sad again…

Now I'm sadder…

Super Paper Mario was pretty good. Right guys?
I wish it was a fucking RPG because the writing and artstyle was too good to fucking waste like that.

The real tragedy is we will never see these guys in paper mario

It was decent, but a huge step down from the first two. One of the main reasons was the levels were not big enough

I wish the pixls weren't interchangeable in terms of personality.

Eh, some of them had personalities with a little flair. Boomer, Slim, and Thudley stood out to me personally.

KILL
KILL HIM
KILL THAT SON OF A BITCH

...

Does anyone have a cap of the thread we had on here a year or two ago where some user brainstormed what a Super Wario Bros RPG would look like? I meant to cap it but the thread died quickly.

The plot went something like:

...

i used to call Waluig "Tuigi"

...

Gameplay wise? It was okay I guess. Story-wise? On par with past Paper Mario games. Except for the fact that they replaced Kammy Koopa with Kamek.

This is in Canadian Dollary-Doos but still. Are they serious? This is also the normal version of the game.

They probably just want to milk people out of money since they know nobody will buy it.

That or they think its that good

...

Maybe it's so that they can mark it down to the standard Wii U MSRP then claim that they're "saving" you 33% or whatever.

Mario? And Luigi? 6: Partners in Crime.

Mario & Luigi's noses may be redder in this new installment but their still red-y to go for a brand new adventure!

Keep the question marks and make the info about the game and game description on the back of the box act like it's totally M&L the whole time.

All I can imagine of W&WL dressing up in poorly made costumes of M&L is that image of the three crooks from the Powerpuff Girls who poorly dressed up as them.

That is clearly an upper case Gamma. He should be called Γuigi.

Bowser is just tsundere

...

someone please get a drawfag on that

...

That is pretty good, I was thinking it could be along the lines of choose your main character like in some other rpgs. You can choose between mario or wario as the main character, and things will be a little different depending on who you choose. You would get some different partners to

Well we could Rom hack Mario and Luigi SS

It is when your cast is nothing but
-Mario
-Peach
-Bowser
-The same toad sprite rehashed/recolored 5000+ times

Because Nixon's career was totally fine after watergate.

...

hello friend i come to thread once again to ask why amateur gamedev has not tried to emulate 64 and TTYD. nintendo will not be making these types of games ever again

because for the next several years after 64 got released there were shitton of 64 clones, enough to not even bother making a new one anymore

Made a Mario(?), might do a Luigi(?) tomorrow/later. It was fun to try to recreate the style of the concept art.
Anyway, the idea sounds very interesting (searching "Wario and Waluigi: Partners in Crime" can get some cingy stuff, though). It's a shame how they don't take advantage of Wario and Waluigi as a duo in the main games.

I would love to experiment with some of the Paper Mario/Mario & Luigi series' gameplay elements and make some demo/prototype out of it. It's interesting how timing and visual cues can add some value to the slow pace and static-ish nature of a traditional JRPG. Gotta start learning programming.

holy fuck good work

Because it broke text alignment on the tile graphics era like nes/snes etc..
When you have 32 horizontal characters to work with textwise, every character counts.

What? It was obvious, he was the red wario…

Nevermind shit died thanks to gun mettle.

Yes, that's the one.

Nice work, only possible option for fake Luigi? might be to remove the costume Luigi nose and mustache to make Waluigi's nose more obvious. (Unless doing that exposes his eyes).

nope

why not, she'd never leave you :^)

SPM was a good STORY but generic as fuck gameplay. People wanted it to go back to the actual RPG elements of TTYD and 64 because, while the story was good, the gameplay had no replay value and got dull as fuck within the first 30 min.

With 64 and TTYD, at least you could do shit like Danger Mario runs.

This is seriously my theory too. It makes no sense why Miyamoto let the others get the made the way they did and suddenly decided to kill the fun as of Sticker Star. He probably just wasn't paying any attention before, which is why the previous RPG spinoffs got away with all that world building and creativity that felt absolutely different from traditional Mario games. Between the way the mainline ones are and things he's said in interviews, I think Miyamoto is really opposed to… world design, I guess? Background fluff? He seems to want Mario games to be as minimal and vague and, in a way, generic as possible. I liked the RPGs for going in the opposite of that direction. I liked the original characters and creatures, I was glad Bowser talked, and quite frankly, I still wish Mario and Luigi would talk in those games too. Meanwhile Miyamoto didn't even like giving Rosalina the fairly vague backstory she got in Galaxy. What, did he see how retarded Sonic games got as their stories got more complex and conclude that it was the inevitable outcome no matter what?

It's the bad sequel conundrum:

How do you possibly vote with your dollars in a way that communicates the message that you do want more of a series, but not the changes the most recent game in particular made?

Shyguys are great because they can do anything.

Jesus christ more

holy shit

ALTERNATE UNIVERSE ME, IS THAT YOU?!

Buying the older series.

Honestly ,there IS no real other way as it's a catch 22, which is basically what they want.

>"Oh look, they don't like *FRANCHISE* anymore. Put it on the shelf next to F-zero, Golden Sun, and Advanced Wars

Make the box art reversible. One side is "Mario? and Luigi?" and the other is "Wario and Waluigi: Friends In Greed!" and be written by Wario and Waluiigi, with color coded text. Possible snippets:

WAHAHAHA!

Imagine that last line being alternating yellow and purple.

Kudos for remembering Wario is pretty fucking strong. Looks like he'd be punching shit instead of hammering shit.

I prefer
Mario & Luigi: A Friend in Greed

Damn right he is.

First off, I did buy Paper Mario TTYD, back when it was fresh and new and everything. So I did support the series as long as it was doing what I wanted. Otherwise, what, I'm supposed to buy another copy of TTYD to show that's what I want? Even if there were new copies to buy, it's not fair to have to buy a product twice to get the message across.

Second, if that conundrum is seriously what they want, they seriously WANT the series to go away, then why even bother making the intentionally hated last entry? It'd be cheaper just to not touch the series again period. I agree that for consumers like us it's a no-win situation, but I really doubt that's the actual plan on the developer end. I'd imagine it's more a combination of internal disagreement over what the consumers want, or what differing demands to listen to, and different creative preferences among the creators themselves, all which is possibly complicated further by the desire to keep the production cheaper. Seems like the serious long-term fans like us NEVER want the cheaper simpler option, like a world of barely different toads, for example.

OH GOD NOW THERE'S TWO, WHICH DO I SHOOT

I never claimed it made sense. it doesn't.

Shoot me, im sick of this fucking life

Seriously, how fucking hard is it to have at least different toads, or at least ones with different colors of cap? And that's to say nothing of the various other races of characters the games had had in the past, both for playable characters and NPCs (the pianta mafia in TTYD, for example).

Knowing Treehouse, they'd probably shove outdated anonymous quips onto all of them in bringing the game west.

I remember one guy bringing up the idea of having the option to hunt for a key to enter a locked building, or just have Wario toss Waluigi's lanky ass through a window to open it from inside.

With Golden Sun, I actually wonder if Camelot even wanted to make a third game with it anyhow, and was forced by Nintendo to do so due to fan demand, or something, and with it having some notable flaws not in the previous games that seemed designed to annoy prior fans (points of no return all over the place, for example), it strikes me that maybe they wanted to ensure they'd never have to make a fourth entry.

If there isn't a rerelease of a particular entry to buy (the way, say, DMC fans seem to have sent Capcom a message by buying a lot of copies of the HD collection instead of DmC), the best idea I can think of would be for a good amount of series fans to actually write in about why they're not buying a given entry, since corporations apparently put a certain amount of weight on someone actually doing so. Of course, that's still a crapshoot and they may not be inclined to change things since there's millions being poured into development, but it might provide them with an explanation when the new game (hopefully) flops, and in the future might make something series fans will be more apt to enjoy.

Of course, that requires them admitting they fucked up, which a company may not be prone to do, and might rather kill the series/subseries instead.

...

honestly, with how bad the new star fox turned out, i'm sort of relieved nintendo is basically abandoning the traditional paper mario style. in a way, it separates the good ones from the new ones

I will admit I didn't come up with it. I remember seeing some people trying to come up with parody names for a Wario and Waluigi RPG series based off the existing names. Subpar Star Saga and Partners in Crime people came up with pretty easily off the bat, but I don't think they came up with anything as good to replace Bowser's Inside Story (Also, Dream Team wasn't out at the time, but I suppose Scheme Team could work out well).

A leashed gigga nigga?

Danger Mario vs Chain Chimp Giga Nigga art when?

Strikes me as a partner you'd have to beat into submission first.

...

The latest Fire Emblem then.

I love you, you cheeky cunt.

Holy crap, I didn't realize I mispelled it, but now I want my own Chain Chimp Giga Nigga.

Awesome stuff compadre.

This is still the preferable choice because they can only shelve so many franchises before they have none left. They'll either have to revive them and do them right, make completely new shit, or stop making games all together or go into the pachislot business FUCK YOU KOMAMI!

There's also a big risk to that, especially if they still seem to want a different audience than the prior one that enjoyed the classic entries.

I go to sleep, and all this happens. Not bad

She will if you let go of the key to her heart.

But user, they're confirmed to not actually be brothers, remember?

Didn't the olympics game call them no good brothers?

Maybe they didn't mean literal brothers.

I can see it now:

...

The best solution would be to hope that they put out a survey asking what you liked and didn't like about the game. The problem is though you would have probably brought the (bad new) game for that to happen.

Or be a game reviewer on a major site who can express and detail the faults of the game compared the the previous better entries.

But game reviewers can be idiots and have less investment in a series compared to actual fans, so they may not be good at comparing past to present. Look at Metacritic and see the amazing amount o 7.5 to 8.0 PP:SS ended up getting.

Hopefully some of the flak about Star Fox Zero's controls from reviewers got to Nintendo.

But didn't they end up giving Golden Sun:DD a cliffhanger ending? Do these companies not want money? Or do they just not like working on the games?

This post sums up what a paper wario game would be like

Perfect game, they don't make these short-but-amazingly-crisp games anymore

Glad you liked it, anons. Here's Luigi?

I can see Luigi? using the costume's nose as a punching bag/pear every time he takes it off and having it flat while using it. That way both suits can have some consistency in their design, that or having it clearly ripped off.

It would be pretty awesome to have Wario doing piledrivers and charged shoulder rams like in Wario World (As shows) in a PM/M&L-like game, the action commands could benefit from those moves.

Yes, they did. And the player still has never gotten to fight Alex.

Considering how there was like eight years of fucking nothing between TLA a DD, I'm thinking they never intended it to be more than two games (or one game, if you look at it from the point of view that TLA is essentially the second half of the game, but with a viewpoint shift.

Maybe Camelot just prefers making Mario related sports games these days to JRPGs (or Tactical RPGs like Shining Force)?

I kind of want to see these with them doing some idle animations for when it they're waiting for their turns. Like, maybe Wario's WA WA WA, and Waluigi doing that "suck it" pose from one of the sports games.

I love it. Great work.
I'd love to see Wario toss Waluigi in the air then pile drive him into an enemy as a Bros. Attack.

STOP THIS NOW
you need dedicate your gift to something that won't be wasted on and thrown away

Bretty good, the scruntched nose is a nice touch

See

I have yet to get good at animating, but I will get to do something like that in the future.

Too good to not draw it.

I appreciate the concern, user. I'm still learning actively and doing this is a good practise.

Thanks. Is the small details that give the character life.

THE IDEAS ARE RIGHT THERE, NINTENDO, IT'LL PRINT MONEY

I can see the "rotate the stick around and around" prompt. That stuff is so satisfying when done right.
If Nintendo doesn't do it, might as well try and do something like that, I mean, giving an extra layer to the traditional JRPG game play can make a very entertaining game. That's what Paper Mario did right, along with a simple story and interesting characters.

...

You could also perhaps look into timed inputs along with action commands. It's struck me as a shame that the Judgment Ring style for turn-based combat has never been borrowed by another game since Aruze killed off Nautilus and the Shadow Hearts series. The hand/eye coordination factor, combined with multiple difficulties of ring types (with the reward of stronger actions at lower width to hit the target zones on the ring), as well as status conditions affecting the Player's ability to hit the ring properly made for a neat style of combat.

Though if you're wanting to make a Mario and Luigi/Paper Mario style fangame, it might be best to stick with the combat the series are (were?) known for, rather than adding in too much extra.

Right back at you, user.

Huh, I didn't know about the Judgement Ring mechanic, thanks for mentioning it. I really like that kind of innovative mechanic, trying different things is something that even indies are afraid or not interested in doing in favour of what has been done to death.

The great thing about action commands is that it makes you feel in control on the fights. Having the ability to reduce the amount of damage your enemies inflict by dodging their attacks or having the chance to increase the power of your attacks by pushing the right buttons are great examples of why that mechanic could benefit an RPG game. Doing something in that vein can be done, while spicing things up since doing the same thing in an RPG can get tedious if it doesn't provide a challenge or "refreshes" your eyes from the sameyness of the interface and actions.

And I would prefer making something original, that way the game can be its own thing (and I don't bother with possible C&Ds for any misstep I would hypothetically take). Nintendo tends to stay in the safe zone since their franchises are known by everyone, which could provide some notoriety, but I rather try something new and take the risk.

Well, it still might be something to look into you your want to see what other sorts of "beyond-standard-menus" turn-based combat there is.

Here's an example of the Judgment Ring in action in the first game. The later two games further refined mechanics and allowed for things like ring customization.

Man i miss china wizard and his chants.

To add to that there's also some customization in the first game. I think you can upgrade your characters(expand "hit" regions but decrease damage a bit for stability or lower safe regions to get more damage). Then there's a ring that makes hit and crit areas invisible but doubles the damage and a ring that doubles the speed of the spin but also doubles the double. You can combine those rings if you memorized the ring real good, it will be invisible and shit will spin fast but you will hit like a truck.

Game also has a lottery side-quest where instead of luck you're dealing with progressively more difficult rings but can get great prizes. Really love that ring system, not only it minimizes RNG(i do like heavy RNG games too but nothing in-between) but also keeps stuff interactive, were it the same game but without ring it'd still have its charm but not as much.

True, but the acupuncture based weapon/ring upgrades are a bit odd, and really expensive. Considering that if you're not confident in the Judgment Ring, increasing the power of your weapon at the loss of hid zone width might do more harm than good. You can even the hit zone back out, but it's an additional cost. I think the only time I bothered with the acupuncture was with one of Yuri's best weapons, as it was just too expensive aside from that. Plus I don't think he would have wanted to get molested more.

Don't forget the ability to use the Judgment Ring to get discounts when buying from, and mark ups when selling to, vendors.

I haven't played DD (I hear it's pretty mediocre), but I played the first 2 games as a kid and loved them, so you must understand how incredibly frustrated this makes me feel.
What the hell does does DD add then? Alex was last major plot thread that wasn't wrapped up, right? DD's existence confuses me.
More like Camelot are only allowed to make Mario sports games. Since 2010 that's all they've made. And in the years between GS2 and DD, that's all they made, too.

It's been a while, but let me see what I remember (and I might be remembering wrong). Dark Dawn is set 30 years after TLA. Isaac's son Matthew and Garet's kid Tyrell (might as well be Tyrone, seriously) are visiting their dads at an observation point at the ruins of Vale, and Ivan's daughter Karis arrive with some invention Ivan's made for Isaac. Tyrone proceeds to act like his name would imply and steals it, crashes it, and wrecks it, and so the trio (and the allies they get along the way) have to shlep around Weyard on a fetch quest for half the fucking game to find a key component to fix said device. Along the way, a masked man (honestly, there's zero point to his disguise, the player knows exactly who he is; he might as well be wearing a paper plate with a dick drawn on it) and his two cronies, Blados and Chalis, are causing trouble; Mia's son, who is studying strange phenomena called Psynergy Vortexes under Kraden (maybe I should have mentioned that he's still alive at 130 or so) joins the party, while his sister gets all of 10 minutes screen time and then promptly fucks off, with fans speculating it's to ride both Pier's boat and dick as she seems to have a thing for the night immortal captain. The party runs across another water adept who is highly implied to be Alex' son, and he joins the party as well for reasons I can't fucking remember. On another tangent, sometime during the three decades that have passed, the light of the Golden Sun has empowered some of the wildlife into sentient furries that now fight the humans over turf, one of which, Sveta, joins the party as your second wind adept and proceeds to steal the spotlight (she might as well be the main character instead of Matthew for how important she becomes to the plot) and soaks up any fucking character development the party on the whole might get. To access some ruins underneath furfagville as apparently Sveta's brother is up to no good down there, you have to play some music that apparently puts all the furries but the one in your party into some bizarre trance that I wouldn't shocked if it led to an orgy in the minutes after, the party plays right into Prince Furfag's paws, and the world is bathed in an eclipse, spawning horrible monsters that proceed to kill off whole villages. Escaping thanks to Eoleo (that little orange haired brat is now a 30 something year old badass pirate), who they free from the cage he was in, they take his boat to try to find stuff, blahblahblah, Himi, the daughter of those two characters on that Japanese island joins the party as the series' sole caster type Earth Adept and pretty much admits that SHE IS NOTHING MORE THAN A PLOT DEVICE so you can get a set of plot armor for furfag girl. The party gets armor for furfag girl, climbs the Great Wall of Not-China up to Apollo Sanctum in an effort to undo the eclipse. The Masketta Man is revealed by Kraden to be Alex, who then betrays his two companions and Prince Furfag. Alex fucks right off after giving the party advice or something and Furfag, Blados, and Chalis somehow fusion dance into pic related. The party beats Flying Furfucker, undoes the eclipse (somehow causing Light and Dark adepts to start appearing?), and head back to the house in Vale only to find Issac and Garet have mysteriously vanished and massive Psynergy Vortex nearby, perhaps having consumed both their dads. Game literally ends there with "To be continued?" And yeah, that's me just trying to explain the clusterfuck of the story. I'll continue with the gameplay next post.

Damn it, I did not save the world in the first two games for a race of furries to rise up.

O-oh. Thanks for the detailed summary. Sounds like a mess and yet also kinda sounds like it's treading the same ground as the last two games.
But at least the gameplay is the same. Right? I mean, how could you mess that up?

to be fair there were already those lycanthropes in TLA, but thats pretty offputting. how furry are we talking about here?
I loved the first 2 games and was very disappointed that you couldn't fight Alex, I think it's the same for everyone though.

So yeah, it really doesn't add that much important and really comes off as fanfic-ish in my opinion. While the concept of showing what the world is like after the events of the prior games, it doesn't do so in the right way. There's not much freedom of exploration (I almost think something was lost of that nature in the conversion from sprited 2D world to modeled 3D), and due to there being a number of points of no return (something the prior games had lacked, final bosses aside), if you miss a djinn or summon, tough luck fucker, you're not going to be able to fight the bonus boss this playthrough unless you load an earlier file or start back over from scratch.

They tried to add more options for dialogue responses than just yes or no (happy, sad, angry, neutral), but it seemed like either they didn't think thing's through, or made it so simple the player would overthink it.
Really felt like a matter of guessing what sort of response the character was looking for.

I honestly can't think of much else they added gameplay-wise (beyond some new psynergies, and at least making the Growth Psynergy a base spell for Matthew without needing to swap for fire Djinn whenever you need it; most likely a result of Isaac having given Jenna a good dicking, their son's earth aligned but has that aspect of the Earth/Fire Psynergy pairing for Growth type spells). I will say that the music didn't seem bad, but I honestly can't recall much beyond Iceberg Outpost and Apollo Sanctum's themes. The ability to use a variant of mind-read on corpses was also pretty neat for obtaining information from the person's final thoughts, and usually getting a sarcastic or darkly humorous remark on how they take their death. The concept art also had a really nice, rough sketchy style to it (pic related, Papa Isaac), which was pretty cool, but you don't really see it that much in the game itself, more-so the promotional art. Oh, and the Chandelier Dragon from one of the old GBA commercials is actually a summon you can learn, which was pretty neat.

Overall it just felt like a big wasted opportunity. I'd gone into it thinking that maybe we'd get some parents and offspring sort of game, with Papa Isaac, and Garet at least going with their kids across the world they helped to restore (with maybe the other old party members joining from time to time), see how various towns have changed, and explore the nature of what the Psynergy Vortexes were more. Instead we got that clusterfuck up there. Hell, the only outright prior game cast members you meet are Isaac, Garet, and Kraden. Ivan, Jenna, Mia, and Piers are at least mentioned, but never show up, and Felix is just gone.

Having played it one, I don't plan to go back to it again. Not when there's a lot of other DS JRPGs. Hell, I find myself replaying the GBA games a fair bit win sick or on the road, if that goes to show anything. It just seems like a number of the changes were done knowing that prior fans would be annoyed, and things like points of no return aren't exactly improvements.

The idea of them reselling a remade Paper Mario or TTYD makes me so fucking furious.

I can already see everyone telling that fans of the franchise should buy it to show support, when fans of the franchise will already own the fucking games.

And then I'll have to deal with all these fucking apologists saying that I should give money to them because they literally remade a game instead of not fucking up TWICE IN A ROW DESPITE THE BACKLASH.

And everyone will eat it up, thinking that Nintendo somehow cares again.

I particularly remember how nothing felt urgent in the beginning. They had some warnings about the whole eclipse lighthouse thing, but no one really emphasized how big of a fucking danger it was.

I spent most of the game not caring about anything because the first half was just trying to fix a fucking flying machine anyway. All of the sudden the world is engulfed in darkness which spawns monsters and potential murders hundreds of thousands of people.

They're pretty squarely around a "2" if you're referring to the chart.

Gameplay's largely the same. Use Psynergy to solve puzzles some puzzles in dungeons, use your mind to solve other ones. Attack, psynergy, djinn, and summon in combat. But looking back, it just didn't seem that enjoyable.

These are different than the Garou wolves of TLA, who were at least adepts mutated by the dust laden wind of Air's Rock.

Depends on the character really. Some were pretty much just bipedal animals with others looking more humanoid. Sveta herself has two forms, her normal, more human looking one, and a beastial rage mode that is much more animalistic and boosts her stats. I forget what the exact drawback was. Think it put one djinn into standby per turn, or something.

I know there's a few anons around that like her, but it irks me that she pretty much steals all the character development to the point she might as well be main girl (pushing Karis out; Himi certainly is nowhere close to it, being a walking plot device to search for hidden dungeons and joined in the last five hours or so). I know Golden Sun's never been that big on character development, but I would have preferred what there was spread across the party some, instead of her taking most of it for herself.

As far as design goes that's pretty tame, not bad.

By the way, if you look back Sheba was pretty much a walking plot device as well

lol

Not sure about the backwards compatibility issue but there was this one about not wanting always-online.

Sheba at least had personality, as well as an understandable goal of wanting to try, if possible, to learn more about who she was and where she came from. Himi states that her sole purpose is to help spotlight-stealing furshit get some special armor so she doesn't get nuked by the eclipse's light at the top of Apollo Sanctum, doesn't say much else, and doesn't have much in the way of interaction with the rest of the party if memory serves. Really just felt like a waste of a character, and she's barely even in the party very long.

That's a shame. One thing I remember about GS1+2 (mostly 2) was exploring the world and finding secrets.
Okay, I've lost all interesting in trying it now. That's a massive fuck up.
Eh, this is even worse than the none responses from the last games. Although, I'm pretty sure this happened occasionally in the earlier games, too.
That's neat. It's still just mindread, though. It doesn't sound like they bothered changing the gameplay all that much, for better or worse.
Sounds like it. I'm starting to understand the lukewarm reception it got.

At least we got DILF Issac.

Yeah, the core gameplay sounds untouched, but the lack of backtracking sounds awful.

The furry character sounds like a real Mary Sue and not what fans would be wanting from a new game. When I heard DD was going to be about Issac and co's kids, I thought that was pretty cool. But… eh.

You got a point there

Yeah I won't be wasting my time with it

She seems pretty fuckable. What's her other form look like?

...

Waifu material.

With yes and no, you at least had a SOLID idea of what you were responding with. Emotions, not so much. I never felt sure if there was some deeper implication to each I was supposed to consider.

Checking through Golden Sun wiki, apparently the Morgul beastmen are actually a combination of uplifted animals and humans that have degenerated into beasts. I suppose maybe that might have some impact on how human or animal they look as well. There's a notable difference in how Sveta looks compared to her brother as well, so it could also be gender differences as well. Been forever since I played, and I am not going back to it just to investigate furfagville.
goldensun.wikia.com/wiki/Beastmen

Yeah, I kind of wanted a family adventure, showing the next generation the world, with geopolitical stuff in regards to the lighthouses having been lit and how things had changed across the tribes and towns since. The idea of it sounded perhaps similar in some ways to, say, Dragon Quest V, but that's not how it turned out.

For a number of fans, they seem to consider her one of the redeeming parts. Though I anticipate at least some of those are furfags.

But yeah, she steals the spotlight, steals the character development, and seems to be crushing on Matthew by the end (who otherwise would have most likely been with Karis, perhaps?).

Oh, and there's another point to be had. Dark Dawn had a full party of eight, compared to how GS1 had a maximum of 4, and TLA had 4 for most of the game until the party's merge (and thus, provided reason for Felix's group to start at such a low level, as they'd been kept out of harm by Sarturos and Menardi). Unless they were to opt to have a whole new cast for GS4, I'm not sure what the explanation would be to have all eight party members back at level 2-3 or so, an all their djinn and summons gone.

I know I'm a little late, but someone threw this Paper Wario together a while back

Bump because Golden Sun talk AND we had a good drawfag

STARLOW IS A BULLY!

AND BULLYING IS WRONG AND SO THEREFORE SO IS STARLOW!

REMOVE BULLY! REMOVE STARLOW!

Holy shit man, Wario World was soooo comfy.

Postan some assorted stuff.

Friendly reminder that we will never get to see what takes place at Goom University.

Thousad Year Door was such a fantastic game, goddamn

How poor would the sales for the new Paper Mario have to be to make Nintendo decide to return to their roots with the PM series or abandon it entirely? I'm OK with either outcome at this point.

good question, they dont operate on logic any more so everything is up in the air no matter what. for all we know color splash selling billions will encourage them to go full circle and return to the roots on accident

i dont think anything captures this more than the intro to the first game. it is so ridiculous

THAT'S why he has a bike instead in SSB.

Flavio% is a wondrous glitch.

They'd probably rather kill it than ask themselves the question of why people liked the earlier ones and disliked the recent ones.

The commercial, on the other hand, was made by people that didn't get that memo.

polite sage

No, they knew what was going on.

THIS WAS A WARNING OF WHAT WAS COMING.

...

SPM wasn't that bad though.

And something must be happening quality control wise with there Mario Sports games. Everyone of them has been having declining Metacritic scores from their previous entries. Especially their Mario Tennis games.

When your 2015 Wii U tennis game is mentioned as having less content than the N64/GCN versions, you know your fucked up.

It's like their deliberately trying to sabotage themselves, so they can do something new.

Mario Golf on the 3DS seems to be the slight exception, (Metacritic rating is slightly lower but not much) but golf seem to be less easy to mess up than tennis due to its more "turn based" gameplay.

I forgot how good their commercials used to be.

What the fuck happened.

Wait, what? This is the first I've ever heard of that.

Miyamoto told them to only use established characters. The whole gameplay and story bullshit was IS' doing.

That's not what happened. They just said they would consider gay marriage for the next tomogatchi life, which they're more than likely not going to make for another 6 years.

For what it was, SPM is pretty good. A bit weird in places (and I wish we had the connected areas like in the first two), but the gameplay and writing make up for it.

playing it for the first time, reached the outer space portion

Barry also seems to have one going for him, plus a bit more agency before you pick him up.

So, is the final boss of our campaign Bowser, or (fitting the pattern of both Paper Mario and Wario games) something much worse? In other words, are we doing the usual song and dance, or really saving the world?

…Oh yes, we owe it to both ourselves and Paper Mario's memory to go forward with this. So, reckon we need a new thread?

Aw, but she has such a lovely smile!~

Nor see GU itself.

…Nor, for that matter, see work come out of all that worldbuilding done by all three PM games (and SMRPG) plus the Mario Kart courses. There's metric tonnes of stuff to work with here.

Ah, so it's nothing. Alrighty then.

neat, also it'll probably get dropped in a month but if you want.

Go ahead.

…Also, has some autism-ridden soul ever tried to put together a world map of Mushroom World? Failing that, a map of the Mushroom Kingdom that tries to blend the depictions we've seen over the years together? All this Paper Mario talk combined with getting SMRPG and binging Mario Kart overseas is making me hanker for unified setting stuff. Maybe even some kind of project so we can play out RPG stuff in it. There's just so much material to work with.

Pic-related is an outdated reach at what I'm talking about. with some eyestrain, sorry

What happened to Nintendo in general is the real question. They did have some pretty great commercials in the SNES/N64 era, though.

I still remember the Golden Sun ones they had, though the first admittedly had very little to do with the game itself.

What happened is the same thing that happened in the West. All the good people were driven out of the decision making, or turned into complete hacks

That would explain why Bowser has such an easy time invading, and why the Mushroom Kingdom has so little warning of his approach. Mind you, it could also be that the Mushroom and Koopa Kingdoms enjoyed a more peaceful state of affairs before the present. Given how many koopas and other assorted minion races live around the Mushroom Kingdom, it would be easy to surmise that there's some old overlap to be had.

I also would wager that Bowser or some nutjob sorcerer/thing caused The Volcano to become active. Magic can be very powerful in Mushroom World, as seen with all the Star shenanigans (especially the Star Rod). Perhaps it was once a peaceful mountain, and just a place for mining.

Mind, it should also be noted from both the PM games and all the sports games (MK included) that Mushroom has technology far exceeding modern stuff in a number of areas (especially transportation), possibly aided by magic. As far as I can tell, Wario is our Tony Stark figure, both with inventions and in terms of entrepreneurship.

And the good who remain do little. Come on, let's get to it.

Doesn't that depend on the game and incarnation of Mushroom Kingdom though? I mean, in the Paper Mario games, the goombas and koopas that aren't actively with Bowser's group seem to get on just fine, but in the main games Mario's generally killing them left right and center, and there's few if any friendly/neutral ones to be found there.

Still though, building that close to volcano, active or dormant, just screams that those toads get high on themselves whenever they feel like it. But then again, humans have built stupidly close to volcanos time and time again. Look at Vesuvius and the cities that have, and are still, nearby.

It does, it does, but you could explain that away with the sheer size of Bowser's Army. That, and assuming the number of goombas and koopas in the Koopa Kingdom equals or (with the goombas) more likely exceeds that of the Toads in the Mushroom Kingdom. For this, we will assume that much of the race threw their lot with Bowser, or perhaps one of Bowser's forebears. Thus, plenty of those two races (among others) to feel Mario's boot heel. Leads me to think that the goombas were once a menial race who served under the toads and humans until they had enough. Mind, the existence of Goom University and the age of Professor Frinkley implies that they've had their own civilized society for a good long while (hence my theory that much of their race threw in with Bowser's family before he came along). Kolorado, his archaeological team, and ruins all over Mushroom World imply longevity of civilization for the Koopas too. In fact, Mario Kart 8 pretty much says they had an ancient civilization out in the desert (and that the Thwomps might be constructs of another elsewhere).

Thousand Year Door tells me that a toad, a goomba, a koopa, and a boo could not only work together, but could marshal great magical power (and possibly manpower) one thousand or so years ago. From what they did to their surroundings, and the vast distinct structures built, it tells me that each came from their own major civilization (or at least, that they took much influence from what they were raised in). That should give us some idea of what past and present kingdoms look(ed) like.

Autism off

Hah. Well, the reason for that lies in both warmth and rich land, doesn't it?

Tony Stark isn't a jew
Well, he wasn't until very recently

Puh-leeze. Would a Jew bull his way through any challenge with his own well-honed muscle and bulk? Or be so tough at least in one game that he can only be battered down but never stopped? Wario's a scheming bastard alright, but he's otherwise hilariously blunt about what golden goods he wants.

But seriously, look at how many courses have his brand on it in 8.
mariowiki.com/Rainbow_Road_(Wii_U)

This is the most significant of them. That's right, Wario made this space station possible. That's how rich he is.

Yes, for coins, blood, economic dominance and destruction, yes

That is what happened you dolt. They didn't give two shits about the subject until a bunch of amerifats threw a shit fit and started accusing them of 'bigotry' at which point they were forced to comply and give apology notices. Hell they even addressed the new marriage options in Fire Emblem as being added to appease they angry sjw masses who threatened to sully their reputation.

Great stuff.

Yeah, it's a mix of fertile soil and geologic warmth. Also forgetting that that mountain might still be active until it's too late (like when you now have a city of millions in the path of pyroclastic flows).

Say what you want about places like Hawaii; at least there the lava tends to flow continuously at whatever island's closest to the hotspot, so people never forget they're living on something active geologically. Bigger issue (beyond lava flows encroaching on villages) are the islands just falling apart, since it's pretty much rock that's sitting on sand instead of anything solid. I think I remember seeing some science show that mentioned that really skinny island, Molokai or whatever it is, used to be about 2-3 times the size it is now until a huge chunk of it just slid into the ocean (they've found debris strewn across the ocean bottom).

There's still the question of whether one considers the Mario games to all be one canon universe or not. Still strikes me that in some games, Goombas, Koopas, and other races associated with Bowser are always the enemy of Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, and the Toads, but in others they can more or less co-exist, or at least aren't always bad themselves. And Bowser himself can range from tyrannically evil with zero characterization to decently written sympathetic antagonist that his underlings all respect and adore. Also not real sure if one should constitute the sports entries as canon for characterization apart from maybe the other sports games. Always been an odd idea of Bowser and Mario trying to murder each other one day but then do go-karting the next (especially Double Dash where you can mix and match partners).

Then again, it's a video game. Logic can be present but is not required for fun.

Nothing wrong with bullies m8.

All sports plus dancing and party games are not canon
This was done by japs to make Waluigi non-canon

What about Toadette?

Do the japs hate Waluigi? If so, why?

They added in the marriage options in Fates because Awakening's fans were whining over it. It had nothing to do with Tamodochi life.

Its not the japs fault. Shigeru is a purist who doesn't want to see characters that weren't approved by him in the main series. Wario and Daisy all get the same treatment having not appeared in a main game since their debuts, only appearing in spinoffs. Waluigi is usually ignored by the main series since he's tied to Wario. Why spinoffs ignore him I have no idea.

Why Toadette was allowed into the main series is beyond me though.

Not sure, bud

Well after reading many "deepest lore" threads i remember Waluigi being somewhat of an american invention ot partner Wario with someone
Somehow japs don't like him, either because he was some baka gaijin invention or because he's not cool for them
Because we can find a bunch of uses for him with his sleak, dark appereance (stealth-based games, batshit insane random games before WarioWare)

But reading into the subject, he was created by an employee from a de facto second-party Sega dev team that was paid to do Mario Golf and Tennis
Basically an enigmatic Richard Dastardly copy-cat

Directly? Nigga, you can't be serious.

But then… Humans are the most successful of the Mushroom World races, aren't they? Not just Mario, Wario, Luigi, and Waluigi (though he's debatably human), but the Princesses. Especially Princess Rosalina, whose power and influence makes her something like a stellar god-empress. Sarassaland and the Mushroom Kingdom are both ruled by all-human royalties, so it would seem. …It's very possible that they're both parts of a wider empire, seeing as Princesses are the most visible ruling figures.

Wario at least has his own pair of subseries. Waluigi's got jack shit besides sports/party game appearances.

Jews do their dirty jobs from time to time, especially in the early stages
WarioWare is the explo- employed goyi- guys doing jobs for some really crazy Wario in WL4 cowboy costume
I don't like his character much but his games are pretty good

I miss Stuffwell.

Man, I'd love to see more shit on this, actually.
It'd be fun to have a spin-off game where you play Peach and Daisy and find out there's plenty of other kingdoms all ruled by princesses, and it turns out they're all sisters and cousins and shit.
Make the gameplay just about maintaining kingdoms or some shit. Or just make it about Peach gathering the princesses together to save the Mario and their kingdoms or some shit.

Mmmhm. Well, that's why I'm running with this. I'm piecing together what bits I can to make a unified setting. For Bowser, I can see both characterizations ringing true (gruff but benevolent to his minions, vicious and cruel to the toads and humans aside from Peach), with a side of statesmanship (wanting to unite the kingdoms under one banner to combine their resources and reach). Various other things can be pieced together and extrapolated in similar fashion.

As for the sports and kart games… I'm inclined to include them, both as tools to fill in more of the world and to serve as part of the setting's modern politics (see things like the Euro Cup and other great competitions between nations).

That sounds like fun too, and I think we could work with it. Both the Mushroom King and Daisy's royal father have been mentioned in the past… perhaps they have a more backseat or distant rule compared to their daughters' public faces. Perhaps there's a central imperial homeland where humans make up the majority populace. Or maybe we have some sort of human commonwealth going.

SHUT IT DOWN

Reminds me, doesn't the series have it's own race of greedy, thieving, rat-faced vermin in the form of the Mouser/Squeeks/Mowz race? Just saying.

Okay, Reinhard, what do you say to this?

mariowiki.com/Dimentio

Eeeyup.

Alright, putting Holla Forumstardery aside, did anyone have anything to say to this and the wider Kingdom stuff in general?

Worse is that in Paper Jam they reference him by having Starlow say his catchphrase. The dirty rats. And past M&L games had suit cases too and one has to wonder why these couldn't be Stuffwell.

So much lore lost with Sticker Star. When Sunshine came out I honestly thought they would expand the Mario series lore more, but instead they just tossed all that shit aside for being as generic as possible and even the spinoff games now all look and act like the main series. They even retconned the Koopalings as being unrelated to Bowser and now use them as repetitive bosses in every fucking game, so Shiggy might as well go stuff himself.

Hokay, also played a ways into the first Paper Mario last night and today. fuck, Holla Forums is not good for sleep

Getting some ideas.

So anons, drawfags, writefags, give it to me straight: should I just archive this thread and start up a new one solely dedicated to Mario projects and setting?

If you start a new thread I'll write some autistic shit about the chapter Wario and Waluigi spend at Goom U.

Paper Jam confirmed that Bob-Ombs are actually plant-based lifeforms that grow on trees you filthy shit.

Also a Bullet Bill in Mario Party Advance was shown to be able to talk and loved racing. When he blew up a new version of him came out the blaster if I recall correctly, essentially meaning that the mind is in the blaster, apparently.

Calling your bluff.
mariowiki.com/Jerry
With these guys, I can believe it.
Also,

…Now that is interesting. It would certainly explain the bullets' disposability. I wonder if it can use multiple bullets at once, or if it's solely one-for-one…

Oh also, forgot something from that list above:

Got it, and looking forward to it. All autism is welcome. after all, I splashed this thread in mine

mariowiki.com/Bullet_Bill_(character)

Here's the bullet bill in question

Also in Super Mario RPG you can read the mind Bullet Bill Blasters confirming that it is their true body with the bills being an extension of the blaster.

Well, there was that time he stitched clothes with Peach in a comic.

for you and everyone who ever liked shyguys

Just the crazy shit of the two of them berating eachother while getting shit done

Waluigi is an expert in being snively whiplash and having no nice bone in his body. Having him doing a bunch of the underhanded shit is perfect for him.

ITT

Who would Wario and Waluigi's sidekick be? They'd never do anything nice themselves, and it'd be poor writing for everything to be a coincidence.

Maybe one of those elves from WL: Shake It!

Money talks . . .

Use money to pay people to be you sidekick. Because no one would want to be their sidekick otherwise.

Or just look use Captain Syrup or the WarioWare cast.

Projects Thread is a go. There's your place for autism.

So let this thread die or embrace the Golden Sun discussion we just had?

Go with Golden 'till bump limit, I suppose.

Hey, this thread is still alive. You all are cool dudes.

I'm fine with that.

Sure. You seem to have made it, so I'll be checking the thread then.

Thanks! Glad you guys like it.

But still Miyamoto doesn't give a shit about him.

Or some of the characters from Wario's Woods.
Or, if you want to give them "partners," use versions of the various enemies from Wario games.

I don't really think they need it (this is assuming it's more a M&L sort of thing where it the two of them fighting and not Paper Mario with eight or so partners), just have saving the world wind up as something that benefits them making a profit and being greedy fucks. They're not doing it because it's the right thing, they do it because it'll hopefully line their pockets.

If not that, maybe a sentient flying wallet/sack of cash.

Doesn't mean he was wearing the clothes.

Needs Waluigi using Wario like a shotput for a spin attack that bowls enemies over.

At least Nintendo's own devs are starting to hate Mario too.

...

10/10 good show sport.

The paper asthetic was used to make PM64 look better. The N64 has aged like milk, but by making all characters and most objects 2d, it's the best aged N64 game ever, since the 2d looks nice and frees up performance to make the game run well. Mario Party 3 copied the 2d aesthetic in a lot of ways for these very reasons.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, aka the best game of all time, utilized the paper aesthetic more technically but less overall. Yes, characters are still 2d (and look/animate beautifully as a result), and Mario has paper transformations, but much less of the environment is 2d. The art style is simply kept stylized, simplistic, colorful, and cartoony, and reminds me of a beautiful pop-up book, especially with the pop-up styled parts when a bridge or something is made.

Fast forward and Ninty goes full retard. Lololololol paper aesthetic taken to the extreme and everything good was butchered. THANKS MIYAMOTO!

i've been away here for too fucking long.

i'm gonna set things straight here, going by all the Metroid interviews with Kensuke Tanabe i've read many times since the third year of Other M's putrid existence. too much misinfo around.

anyone calling me an Nintencocksucker, i know you haven't read the damn post outside autism-ally overreacting how big it is. I will be pirating this shit, and my purchase won't help a single damn thing for the game to be a success.

1. Fedshit has to do with Metroid PRIME, not fucking main Metroid. (yes, it's currently in the shitter too due to Sakamoto and him being absent for mobile shit. Anyone think Metroid Prime hold any relevance to mainline Metroid outside being part of the timeline and "parallel" to main Metroid is a clueless idiot who doesn't cite his shit.)
2. Tanabe said the dumb style is non-perma and already know the style wouldn't hold up in Metroid Prime. Only there for visual purposes for better first-person gameplay on 3DS. (which won't help at all. remember NLG is doing the game and they NEVER handled an first-person game outside co-op shit like Dark Moon [and Tanabe admitted he sucks at playing FPS games so there's that.])
3. Tanabe already said only the story and blast ball element is important. it's a build up for the expansion of Samus' universe in the Prime sub-series and future proper Prime game that has to do with Sylux vendetta for the GF and Samus herself. the said latter will be a tutorial element for future metroid prime games.
4. there's already a future set for Metroid Prime already. Tanabe said a typical Metroid Prime game will be more likely to come to NX than WiiU if they start on it right now. and for Shinya Takahashi (General Manager of Nintendo EPD and formerly SPD), back in 2014, they're currently brainstorming on delivering proper traditional and prime-style (FPA) Metroid in the near future.
5. we're talking about a fucking Metroid PRIME game that was idealized since 2005, in the concept stage during MP3's development, and in development one year after Other M was released (2011) (7-11 YEARS IN DEVELOPMENT). you think shitendo set this crap up only to change the series up after a line of successful Prime titles since the GCN-era?
6. Other M flopped fucking hard, didn't even hit a million like every Metroid game, any one thinking people will fall for another flop-tier Metroid game is a complete delusional.

what you can do? ignore the damn game and let it choke while it grasp for air. especially the fact Tri-Force Heroes and STEAM's mulitplayer is dead as fucking shit.

and if you want a better example on Nintendo putting a series on gunpoint, see Miyamoto telling people to buy and enjoy Star Fox 643D so he can rebirth Star Fox (which the rebirth backfired hard):
web.archive.org/web/20141008023401/officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/29187/miyamoto-star-fox-will-be-reborn-if-people-buy-3ds-remake/

and for faggots wondering what's Retro been up to

they're busy on their brand NEW Non-DK/Non-Metroid project.

i repeat:
NON-DK
NON-METROID

only thing they've did for FF was designing the Golems (the mechs)

and Emily Rogers can kiss my fucking ass for stealing old sources to be credible.

It's been on and off development not continuous development, so it should sounds more like this:

I will say if this game actually was 7-11 years in continuous development, it would be fucking infuriating that this was the final result.

i'm really glad we can freely spew our little autism here for Paper Mario and other Mario games

there's an autist in half/v/ (people are currently witchhunting there) who call people "pretendos" if they don't appreciate all the current shit Nintendo shat out and heavily defends anything that doesn't seem censored to him.

worse, he's an ugly af underage miiverser. His name is CodyCoyote64.

Is this the sort of autism that 4/v/ attracts?

Halfchan is basically reddit nowadays, not far off.

the place's quality gotten really down

remember Barneyfag/Revved? not so recently, the fucking faggot fucked up the spam filter leading everyone on 4/v/ that isn't him or the guy that baits him everywhere he goes to not posting normally outside making new threads

>MFW

There was a time when people like this would be chased out of 4/v/. I guess it's gotten really bad over there.

they were literally going to add Wario, Waluigi, and Peach in NSMBWii until he decided everybody playing the same way fitted better for the game

?: Why did Nintendo decide to have two Toad characters accompany Mario and Luigi in multiplayer?

Miyamoto needs to die already, tbh.

I've seen that Travis guy post in comment sections on either NG or Techraptor. Maybe both, actually. He's a tremendous faggot from what I remember seeing of him.

I wonder if NoA pays him or if he does it for free.

can we get the "Fire Iwata!" meme going on again for Miyamoto?

RETIRE MIYAMOTO
