Rule the Waves

Alright, time for what I think will be the end of our Japanese campaign.

Last time we fought an exhausting war against America, which culminated in a second American Revolution and Japanese victory. It is now 1921 and Japan has never been more powerful. Our empire now holds the Philippines, Guam, Panama and the Aleutians. Modern Capital ships are slowly replacing our aging fleet and technology is advancing faster than we can adopt it into our designs.

For those of you unfamiliar with Rule the Waves, it is a somewhat autistic game about managing your nation's navy, designing ships, as well as commanding them into battle.

Great Britain doesn't want to be friends, Japan owns much clay, an overview of our losses and the design for the Kentucky class we took as reparations for the war.

Should we make any changes to the Kentucky class?

Maybe increase the speed on the Kentucky class from 21 knots to 25? and increase torpedo defence, it's 1921 so I imagine a lot of future wars (I don't know how long this game lasts) will be utilising torpedoes so it couldn't hurt to attempt to future proof our larger ships so they can stay in service longer. Get more value for money out of them that way.

only like 4 more years

Do we have the tech to add a third fire control position?

We increase gun elevation, swap out the secondaries for more middling calibres, remove the torpedo tubes, add some ammo and slave the secondaries to the director.

Y/N?

Yes.

We should add it if we have room to spare.

Nippon steel is a state secret. Don't let the spics get shit.

You might be asking yourself "Why does Japan give a fuck about the Balkans?" Well, why the fuck does Japan own Panama?

Decision?

keep out of it

No need to get involved.

Don't risk it yet, so no

Do we piss some off, or play it safe?

Blame Italy if we get a boost in funding for it.

Piss off the ruskies
We already hold so much of their clay though, so up to you

By luck, we've gotten three events that raise tension is a row.

Things are looking…exciting.

didn't France impound a ship we were building?

Okay, we've gotten a chance to diffuse tensions. Should we? It's worth mentioning that we've got a modern BC, what will likely become the pride of our fleet building in a French port.

How long until the ship is done building? We should hold off raising tensions until then.

We should try to get that ship back.
Then kill them later for impounding it.

Lower tensions. We need that ship.

lower tensions

What the fuck are our politicians doing?

Choice?

avoid the war
We can't risk tensions with France and UK going higher

Does the second lower tensions? And do 'concessions' mean anything gameplay wise, other than us not getting jingo funding? Option 3, in any case.

Oh Christ that was close. An Italian spy got caught, raising tensions with most of the Euros.

But here she is. Do we have a name in mind?

How about Moeshit Victoria?

The Manime

Done.

Russia wants us to reduce our Navy.

Tell them to fuck off

Russia isn't a major threat so there's no point.

ITS A RUSE
DONT TRUST THE BREEKIS THEY ARE UP TO SOMETTHING CHEEKY

Fug. Will option 1 raise tensions on anyone other than Russia? If not, that's a no brainer. Do arms conferences obligate us to deconstruct, or merely bring it up as an option for the various powers which we could hypocritically ignore or skimp on? If so, take that option. Otherwise, and if worldwide tensions will increase dangerously, agree to this petty naval spending proposal. We can probably afford it, but Russia is not going to have parity with us again.

To my surprise Holla Forums seems to be handling foreign relations better than Hillary Clinton.

Prime Minister want big boat.

Build hotel yamato?

enlist the help of the Navy League

How bad will the financial loss be? If it's acceptably modest or moderate, then the Emperor will have his floating palace. Otherwise, get the Navy League to help us get this nonsense sorted while deflecting the heat from ourselves.

The cash loss was minor in comparison, and we gain prestige for agreeing.

Now then, as far as Germany goes?

Let it slide. We have no interest in a flareup, and there are fewer German colonies of any value in Southeast Asia than there are French and British ones anyways. Best to keep relations cool or better.

We can afford the tension hit with Germany. I'd rather not lose prestige choosing the other option.

Clay?

Holla Forums can run a country much better than Hitlery Cunton.

Sounds good. Send a force.

We need that Korean clay.

grab clay

Rightful japanese clay.

WE NEED CLAY THEY SAID

IT'LL BE GOOD THEY SAID

Koreans should be honored to have strong Japanese men running their country and boinking their women.

Smash those cheese eating winos and take their clay.

Try to not draw the British into this.

...

my left nut could run a country better than her

oops

Convert submarines to prize rules, or if already at such, lower. We absolutely cannot afford yet another Lusitania style incident.

Good point.

We need to minimize the chance of Britain getting into this, I'm confident we'll be able to muscle the French, but adding the Brits would mean doom for our foundling empire.

Good thing we got our ship.

ARE YOU READY TO UNLEASH THE FUCKING FURY?

DESTROY

BANZAI

NIPPON RULE THE WAVES

LETS DO THIS

Bonjour

Admiral user, does the French blood flow yet?

Are those submarines going to do anything?

What is with that guy's chin?

The only worrisome moment was when BB BB took a torpedo hit, but she walked it off.

You could say that.

I have absolutely no idea what submarines do in fleet combat.

FROGS BTFO

...

Did we just sink nearly their entire Asian fleet at anchor? Holy fug. Look at those victory points. Look at those ship damage points. The last time we got in a spat with Russia, killing one of their BBs for about 40-60,000 or so was outstanding, and we've destroyed just about four times that. Is that enough to just eat their SEA holdings outright?

Pretty much.

It's worth mentioning that the South Pacific is entirely undefended.

Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere soon lads.

If we can afford to split off any unessential ships, then it'd be wise to see if we can stage some simultaneous landings while we're taking their main colonies, then. So long as we keep a very close eye on French movements so that they don't get caught. France's European fleet is still rather intimidating, though with that many ships I'm sure a fair few are obsolescent.

Good god…

They still have quite a sizable force in Europe. Lets hope they're cautious as the Americans and only trickle them down to us.

A small cruiser action leads to this.

Do we want to fight this one out, or take our leave? For reference, our CL has 3 7" guns as the main armament, while Loliship has 4 10".

I don't think we should be too brash, if we get our ships sunk in these little engagements we'll lose our overwhelming VP advantage… but if you're itching for a fight, go for it.

The question is whether we can reliably penetrate their armor or not, and whether we can keep their T crossed while keeping them out of range. If so, kite them with Loliship, keeping the light cruiser back entirely; too undergunned even for a relief action if Loliship gets in trouble, I'd think.

While attempting to plink away at the CA with Loliship, she takes a hit to the rudder.

If you're winning, there's no reason to lose ships. That won't do you any good once the war is over.

Oh, great, we're getting Bismarck'd. Screen the destroyer with our CL if it tries to rush, attempt to escape as soon as we can get our rudder repaired.

In the end, the French decide to pull back into port, and nothing really comes of the engagement.

But don't fret, because things get REAL interesting next turn.

That BC in the area is our newest one, right?

FUCKING YUROS DECLARING MERGING WARS

GET THEM OUT OF OUR ASIA

Panic isn't the word.

Well might as well blow your brains out now and safe the britbongs the trouble.

fucking piggus

Well. Guess it's time to peace out France and hope that brings tensions down enough, right?

3DPD takes out a CA and drunk Russian Captains get their ships impounded.

And no, I don't know what enemy.

we need that jew gold

Goddamnit. Middle option, since we don't know who is who.

Middle option is taken. Both France and Russia step down.

Bit of a disappointment, but I suppose they wanted to be home for Christmas. It is December 1923.

Take it. We're in way over our heads here, we need to end this fast.

Well that's disappointing, but better than the alternative.

Who's fault?

blame USA

Goddamnit USA.

Time to take Hawaii.

I dont think we can take on the land of the free

Let's keep it neutral, while muttering under our breath "Fucking drunk Americans and their holidays".

Where have you been user?
Our superior Nipponese sailors krumped the inferior gaijin navy, and took their clay.

I must've missed it

Time to take clay then

Big nation needs big gun.

Clay? CLAY!

Not to mention, OIL

PUPPET

Take clay, build Yamato.

Clay has been taken. US not happy about it.

Time to culturally enrich venezuela

You mean something like this?

Venezuela is loving their enrichment.

Looks like we've got two good things to defend in that area now.

Is it possible to do a world conquest in this game?

...

good thing we grabbed panama earlier

Oh, that'll do it. That'll fucking do it nicely. Fucking interwar Yamato with wing turrets.

Considering we have extra-huge guns, can we install some batteries at Panama to advantage ourselves if the US tries to take it?

I don't fucking read Russian, how is this supposed to help

The majority of the page is in English. Stop whining.

tbh fam I say we start over as America

This game is fucking awesome.

I got it after seeing the first of these threads (many thanks for that) and I'm thouroughly enjoying it. Currently I'm attempting to take over the entire med as Austria-Hungary. France is proving tough and I suspect the UK is out of the question.

I've also got a second game with historical budgets, large fleets and low tech speed in which the South is rising again.

The devs got back to me in under and hour with a support request too.

Why the fuck is Paradox unable to make anything that compares to this with many, many times the budget?

In my defence things look a lot more joined up in the quick reply window.

Up to you fam. I'm a little disappointed we didn't get that war against France but we did pretty good.

I wouldn't mind continuing. The game doesn't model aircraft, but as it is, it doesn't seem like a hot European war ever started, which with a really wide and nonsensical althistory brush, means no air reconnaissance corps experience, no fighter or bombercraft, no floatplanes and no carriers. I want to see where this big-gun-battleship centric timeline goes, all because of Japan deciding to Tsushima EVERYONE instead of just the Russians and everything getting navally centric to contain her.

Japanese-American War #2?

2nd choice seems like a good one.

bully them

Remove burger.

Do it

I'm good for option 1 or 2, at your discretion. Depends on if we can replicate our previous Pacific sucker-punch and once again whittle their Atlantic forces.

2

As tensions rise, we move our fleet more towards the Caribbean and the West coast.

DISHONRABRU GAIJIN

IT BEGINS

Its time to remove burger

We need to take Maine.

EXCECUTE BAKA GAIJIN

They may have more, but we'll have the first strike.

Y/N?

Should I even bother asking?

Bad idea, lack of capital ships.

That's a lot of ships for a non-surprise attack. At your discretion.

Is that a submarine docked on a bigger submarine?

Well shit, I only just now noticed that it isn't a surprise attack, but a regular cruiser action. Strange.

Baka-ing out.

pull out and wait for the night surprise attack. Those always work.

It's a mini submarine for sneaking into harbors with explosives and scouting.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_A_Kō-hyōteki-class_submarine

Those only happen on the first turn of th war if you have a fleet in the same area as an enemy base.

well fug

Odds are pretty similar. Choice?

How long are we going to continue with this glorious nippon campaign?
Would OP be willing to start a new campaign as another faction?

Let's give it a try.

Let's give it a shot.

We will continue until our glorious empire dies in the blaze of glory. Or we get bored of this run. Whatever happens first.

The mission starts at night, and when dawn breaks this TR gets a rude good morning.

Doesn't Japan have the majority anywhere?

Go for it.

Passed on it in favor of waiting for a reinforcement fleet. This one looks a bit better.

We have the advantage, in theory? Let's go.

You know what to do.

Paradox are a bunch of cucks who only are interested in the money generated by their DLC Platforms. They don't want their games to be complex. Try any Ageod game and see the difference.

What should early minesweeper designs be like? The computer insists on building

We saw the enemy fleet once, then they slunk away.

Alright, do you want to here the bad news?

No, do you really?

Before designing the 3DPD, I didn't realize that short range ships couldn't traverse provinces when at war. Now, I accounted for this before this war broke out, by ordering 3DPD to move to the Caribbean. I had assumed she'd move East, through North Asia and down the West Coast, meaning she'd be useful even if war broke out early. But she didn't, she went West.

3DPD is sitting, practically useless off the Western coast of Africa. I cannot move her.

Minesweepers also lower the odds of your ships hitting mines in regions they occupy.

This can't get worse.

...

So, any chance we'll play the next game as Russia or France?

Play as Russia and re-enact that disastrous Baltic-Pacific journey

I'd actually be fine with that, because the game starts to shift to a format where capitals rule everything and fire control becomes advanced enough that you can't make those risky destroyer runs.

Shall we put it to a vote?

I want to see the CSA.

So what kind of modding can we do to this game?

CE works for money if that matters.

CSA is bretty cool. Shares a region with multiple powers, makes for some fun conflicts.

At the very least I'd like a bunch more political events.

I just remembered that somebody made a mod that makes coastal batteries much more deadly. Good thing, because in vanilla they're pretty useless.

Things go very well off the coast of Hawaii.

Nice. Looks like things might turn around, if we can keep leveraging our best ships.

On one hand, might want to restrict our subs. On the other, they produce results.

Take the fight?

Take it, disengage if no friendly battleships are on the scene to check/destroy theirs.

Keep the subs on unrestricted warfare. It's too effective to give up.

lol no

It's actually a shame because the post battle screen only showed two destroyers.

And this might turn out to be an actually good battle, if there's BBs involved.

go for it

While we only have two DDs, it looks like the escorts defending the merchants are roughly the same, but worse armed.

Go for it?

oy vey leave those merchants alone you evil goy

Give it a go, I suppose. I just hope there aren't interceptors in the wings.

Things ended up going a bit pear shaped. We managed to down a few merchants, but took heavy damage in return.

oy vey

That'll teach you to mess with God's Chosen People™.

Y/N?

Things went sketchy in the last war too and we still won.

That's a lot of guns to go up against…my gut says "no".

Think we're just gonna go.

A lucky hit puts our Benis dead in the water. Do we fight around the Benis?

God's sake. Do we stand any realistic chance of relieving her?

Probably makes sense to fight around benis

Fugg.

Can the other BB do anything?

How much autism does this game require?

Benis manages to get her power back and starts to limp away while our destroyers launch multiple torpedoes at close range. Despite the odds, none of our torpedoes manage to hit the Ranger. But, on the horizon, the BB Arinos Fist arrives. Can she turn this around?

Honestly, not a lot.

Tell me these torpedoes desereved to miss. I dare you.

Oh, and Arino's Fist is charging in, forcing me to follow to it'll at least have a slight chance.

These torpedoes deserved to miss.

What are those grey circles? Are they projectiles?

It's surprisingly forgiving actually. Most of the boring parts are abstracted out. Paradox could really learn a thing or two about where details needs to be and where to ignore shit.

Play on Rear Admiral's mode and the AI will do most of the work for you too. Set anything not a big ship onto ai control that isn't already on it and shit is even easier. Most of the manual commanding is just speed, direction and occasional manually setting a target ship/squadron.

(Checked)
Yeah, they're splashes.

(Checked)
This user here makes a good point.

Smoke user. The two black lines shooting towards it are torps.

In the second picture the white circles around ships are shots.

Interesting conclusion. What I had initially assumed to be a minor torpedo hit actually managed to sink one of the Kentucky Class BBs. While we lost Benis, it was nearly a decade older than the Kentucky and 2/3rds it's tonnage. Thus, this battle was actually a victory for us, although not a pretty one.

Black is smoke and affects accuracy.
White circles are splashes from gunfire.
Lines are torps.

A technical victory is the best kind of victory.

Also, gonna call it there. Do we want to continue, or start a new campaign?

It's a victory we can't really afford though :c

Propotianally they knocked out more of our ships, thus reduced our effectiveness significantly more. That's 2 Cruisers that could be raiding, patroling or screening.

wew lad

New campaign as burgers in celebration of the 4th

this

This.

Either CSA or USA, don't really matter, thing is I love these threads.

CSA would be nice for the alt history.

Put it on CSA 2 where Spain owns most of the Med.

Oh and don't forget to update your game and make the side pictures for us to enjoy!

dude boobs lmao

Goddammit.

I got back from my shower and though, "hey, I'll press the turn button one more time, nothing that major can occur, right?"

faggot

S-so you guys wanna start that CSA campaign..?

Please don't bully me, user.

3 BB sunk. that's a definitive end to that campaign

Jesus Christ.

Whelp, I guess we're moving on then…

Yes, I would be interested in another Campaign, regardless of what nation you play as.

...

Shall we step down? Just want to confirm we're done with Japan.

Well we won the game anyway, everything after 1925 was an alternate dimension that didn't happen.

On to the CSA!

Starting a Russian campaign I assumed OP is going CSA so I hope I am not stealing his thunder :^)

yup time for seppuku

Naw, don't really mind. I'll just throw out suggestions for designs and give you ship names.

Was a fun campaign all. Thanks for playing along.

It was a fun ride.

Please suggest fire control information, the manual didn't address it.

So if this game goes into the late 1920s, why are there no early Aircraft carriers? The HMS Argus launched at the end of 1917.

The farther down the selection menu, the better it is. That's it.

All right. For Russians should I go with cramped/short range since I don't have colonies?

W-what? I don't think ス is a number.

You do realize the belt extended is the outside of the hull on the ends of the ship?

I would but keep normal freeboard.

If you're Italy or Austria you can go low freeboard early game since the med generally has fine weather.

Doesn't the game disallow 0.5 armour? I suspect that is what the message means.

I don't think protected cruisers can take BE armor.

For armor values, I just go with what the AI gives me when I computer build then create the rest of the ship from there, but in this case I added a little bit of turret armor. Is belt extended really that important?

That did it, thanks. And here I was hoping for at least a bit of HE protection on the turrets without it getting horribly heavy.

Most of the early ones were pretty terrible, I would love to see some of the early float plane carriers though I agree.

The belt is literally the side of the hull, it's breddy important. Extended much less important than the main belt afaik.

Generally not on anything below an AC. Even BCs can skip it. Do note, however, that if you choose 'narrow' hull armour shots will more often hit BE.

Also you don't need deck armour on CLs. Complete waste in my opinion. Don't bother with DE on anything early game that isn't a B either.

They still carried torpedo bombers and provided essential flying recon. They didn't begin to outshine or show how much they'd take over until the 30s though.

I think the devs are working on a WWII expansion, which almost certainly will have them. I also hope that they make subs more in-depth smilingspic.jpg, because subs are just abstracted as of now.

Oh and always get 1 armour minimum on both primary and secondary guns or they'll get knocked out v. easily. I'd also add some extra ammo to any shit with a main gun lower than 10 calibre at least.

Because the dude that made this game doesn't have time to program in Airplanes, which means no spotter planes, and no Carriers.

That's why the game itself technically ends in 1925 because at around that date was when plane development was just starting to be integral to the navy. It only allows you to go on with the game for "fun".

He's currently working on a WW2 expansion, which means we'll get more boat variations like PT and MTB boats and well as Aircraft. But I'm not sure how fast he works, we could be looking at a dwarf-fortress like situation where all these plans are laid out but never actually put into practice.

You don't have the money to separate your forces however… If you go to war with Japan and have no boats in the area, and the boats that you do have are in Western Europe with low range, you're not getting them to the defense of Eastern Russia. So be sure to place your boats before a war breaks out, watch the Japanese tension closely otherwise you'll be up shit creek.

Short range boats are more for a static navy with lots of activity in the Mediterranean. If you play as Austria or Italy, this is almost a necessity.

Long range boats also make for efficient Raiders, and less random internment or scuttling chances.

It's extremely important for heavier boats before "All or Nothing" armor gets researched. I constantly take hits to my BE or DE and as a result my boats sink due to Quick firing secondaries.

Hits to BE wont normally do Superstructure or Gun/crew Damage, but enough will sink you easily.

smh…

They are always unarmoured. Mostly only useful for getting a few 6inch or below guns for a big ship to defend against DDs (accuracy penalty if shooting at them with anything >6inch).

What's the deal with superstucture in ship designs? Is this how you make multiple decks or conning towers?

That's just for looks. You can do it manually but it's easier to let the computer generate a ship for you (it'll do the superstructure) then edit it from there.

Oh and generating the side picture is also not necessary.

Yeah, I noticed there's an auto-symmetry, so I guess I can't make a swastika or other dank memes :/?

I can't say I've ever tried it. You could probably make a face using funnels…

By the way if you click gun data you'll see how the gun in question does at certain ranges. If you check any LC gun (7 inch and less) you'll see they have little-no deck penetration at any range. This is why I don't bother with armouring the deck: they shouldn't be fighting anything heavier than other LCs anyway and getting hit by a big calibre will fuck you up anyway. You can use the saved weight to armour turrets up, increase speed or decrease tonnage to save money.

I should have stuck another quad turret on it.

Prepare yourselves….

Build at yard 15,000 means 15k displacement is the max, right?
Sorry for dumb question

Well, I pretty much took every event action possible to give me maximum budget, and soon enough my unrest level went from 2 to 11 in a single year because people got pissed at the military spending
and now the Confederate States of America is a socialist country with the lowest naval budget in the world.

Don't repeat my mistakes, anons.

Yes. Make sure to get that shit up as much as you can.

Is using a flat deck with heavy belt and little deck a good idea for a heavyish battlecruiser?

Muh deck

I'm triggered.

I can't remember, doesn't the protected cruiser design suck?

Illegal: main gun quality 9?
I have two two-barrel turrets of 16 calibre/5 quality

5 quality means you haven't researched guns of that size yet.

ty

...

Hey, remember those colonies you had?

Had.

Also

You doing this shit? Or just playing it yourself?

I am still designing my legacy navy…

So before my ships run right through them, what are those red circles with lines through them?

Friendly Minefields.

Blue is enemy minefields. Your boats will avoid both. (Though enemy minefields are usually invisible, with only ports/docks being visible and labeled "suspected minefields") If you have minesweepers in an area they will reduce the amount of enemy mines through the months of war. Though I've never seen dock minefields be tampered with, I think that's more just a gameplay barrier to allow your ships to run and prevent enemy ships from getting into enemy docks.

...

...

Yeah, he was a way bigger dick than I am portraying him as

Only thing I don't care for is the torpedo placement on the destroyer, but I know you're working around the center line restriction. And the CL, but I find CLs useless in most scenarios, and are only really good as raiders. Is the torpedo on the B just to fill out the weight or to finish crippled ships? Either way, I worry you might not be able to improve the Fire Control afterwards without replacing the machinery, which extends the refit time and can screw you in a war.

As it did in the Jap campaign.

Hmm, there's a theme to these builds…

My whole navy is in Northern Europe, I think I have to move some ships to my Asian holdings to discourage those Japanese pigdogs from surprise attacking me.

I've got 1,498 spare tons on the penetrator. On the smaller ships I didn't leave much room.
I went for medium range on all of my ships and I feel like that might have been a mistake

I also don't know why I bothered putting torpedoes on my battleship. Woops.

...

Oh, now I (think I) know why I have torpedoes, the auto-build put it on and I forgot to remove it.

I meant 1,498 spare displacement, no bully please

Just giving you a heads up user. You're gonna have your first war. One class of your ships are gonna distinguish themselves as dependable workhorses who constantly exceed your expectations (once you understand what to expect). They will be the pride of your navy. Enemy sailors with turn tail and steam home when they see them.

In five, ten years max they will be useless.

That is the nature of the time period.

When you realize this, you will go to the design table to create your new wonder weapon. She will carry bigger guns, go faster, take hits harder and suck your dick while she does it.

Within a year you will see ships that stand head and shoulders above her.

That is the nature of the time period. Because that's how arms races work.

Displacement is measured in tons, m8

Oh, so I thought I was being retarded in here but it was actually here

Thanks for the advice, sounds a lot like what the manual says about when to build your ships.

Building a 12in fort on Sakhalin to deter nippon.

Spying on the Austrians raises tensions, but because I can beat them easily, I don't see how that's a problem.

Time to upgrade my ships already I guess.

Too bad this game doesn't have netplay.

Is "rebuild" the method for upgrading a ship?

I thought the term was refit?

H'wat do?

I can't find the song with those lyrics, but this is close enough.

Fucking hell, all I wanted was Cuba but no. I'm sure a good player would be happy with their newfound far flung naval bases, but dammit I don't want to micromanage outside of the Mediterranean.

Sheeeeeit.

that's passive i believe. you only need to upgrade when you get a new model of FC.
at least, i think so.

(checked)
low tensions? no risk? go for the CLAY.

do reliable engines stop the thing where ships will overheat/etc and get reduced speed even when going 2 knots under their maximum from happening?

because that shit is annoying when running down/away from enemies. especially when it happens almost instantly after you speed up.

I'd go for it. Looks like it'd be a good fight.

I think so. It also reduces the chances of raiders being force to surrender to neutral ports for engine failures.

Austria.

Please.

Thanks for bringing this game to Holla Forums, OP.

These threads have been fun as hell, even if I haven't had the time to post much.

lame as fuck, AI is doing a shit job of taking advantage of Austria's strengths (can pick short range/cramped everything)

Not only that, but they have 11 coastal batteries. 6 of them are around Splato, and 3 of those are 11".

You'll think twice before sailing your ships on Austrian sand.

Spain is a pain in the ass to play, with colonies in the Caribbean and SE Asia. I also just noticed we've reached past bump limit, someone want to make a new thread?

Is RUScampaign user still here? Or is he still playing his first battle?

Maybe I should fucking read before posting.

We sailed past each other, finally found them again…

...

What fleet size are you on?

Meatyjium

Learn to shoot, lads.

Oh fuck me, my game crashed. Couldn't reload the save. W/e I'll call it a night.

Anyone feeling like making new thread? This one is already sinking.

Back up your designs outside of the game save file so they last outside of the save and don't get overwritten

i fucking love torpedoes.

MY EYES
Any idea how to get torpedoes to fire? I've gotten my CAs into range with smaller ships in skirmishes and they never fire. I right clicked, division was not on hold fire.

I still haven't figured out what the requirements are for a successful torpedo attack though.

Wether torpedos are fired or not depends on hit probability and is decided according to each crews discretion.
The hit probability depends on torpedo technology, distance, crew quality, bearing in relation to the enemy parallel is best and training.

What you can also do is go to preferences and switch to captain's mode which should allow you to fire torps manually

I think there's a speed limit for sub torps I read somewhere on the forums that anything over 19 knots and you can't fire them.

As for destroyers and how to actually get them to fire, it's based on crew skill and training. If you don't train with torpedo warfare (which will take about 12 months) chances are you're going to have unsuccessful torpedo runs. Rule of thumb is stay within range and wait for them to fire, then break off.

The slower the target the easier it is to hit. If you're firing torps at a fully functioning ship, with no flooding damage or rudder damage, you're more than likely going to miss.

Raiding Mediterranean against Austria, intercepted by a puny 10k displacement battleship.

they ded

I like these odds, my battleship got intercepted.

I ran her through with my big 12 incher

...

Jesus christ. That was fun but exhausting. Sank two enemy battleships and several destroyers, lost five destroyers and a battleship. That battleship probably would have survived if the other enemy battleship didn't say a final fuck you by firing a torpedo at my battleship, after being crippled and being set on fire. Had to disengage due to running out of ammunition.

torpedoes love to fuck your day up, and they only get better at it as the game goes

Austria pls

Also, page 14.

Is this shit real time online?

no ;u

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
This was a mistake.

So this is my dedicated commerce raider- haven't built any yet. I should probably lower the size of the main gun and upgrade the armor, it's more important she can run away and survive being chased by a dreadnought than be able to kill her targets super quickly.

Would appreciate recommendations.

Didn't mean to make this a reply :s

RIP

Did I do good? I think I did.

That'll do, pig.

The Kaiser is always mad at me for some reason.

If you're playing Austira, you need to choose cramped accomodation and short range for your ships so you can fit more armor/guns than your enemies who need medium/long range ships for their empires.

But how would I invade America?

song related
I believe the refrain is
so if you just insert a "losing" at the beginning it's pretty relevant.

You don't, you bully the Mediterranean :^)

I try to add more main weapons, but I always got a negative ROF mod on it. Should I roll with it anyway?

It's best to avoid ROF modifiers (negative ones), unless they're only 10 or 20. Still, not fun to have.
