ITT: The first time you beat a game and the ending made you feel something

The perfect ending hints that she is the origin of the great fairy and later reincarnates along with her father Tarin as Malon and Talon of Holodrum and lonlon ranch in hyrule however the release of an official timeline years later in Hyrule Historia puts the game far to the end of the timeline and thus invalidates what was suggest in the Zelda games of the 1990's

So you play another zelda with at the time the most cutesy artstlye of them all only for it to have the most self centered, nihilistic ending of the lot.

I played it when i was around 8 years old and it was the first videogame ending that actually had some emotional impact, i couldnt put my finger on it at the time being a kid but almost 20 years later i can look back at a really fucked up ending for a game marketed to little kids.

Still a hell of a good game i dearly love regardless.

Link's Awakening was inspired by Twin Peaks.

What I really like about it is that while it is emotional, it doesn't try to shove FEELS into your face, most of it is very subtle.

One of my favorite aspects of the story telling in the game are the owl statues that give you vague hints about the nature of the wind fish and koholint island

and the Owls are not what they seem?

The fact that this game was one of the most underrated ds games i ever played, the basic premise was with your poor created avatar save the world by restoring the town and save it from the darkness, while the first game s ending was sad and being a cliffhanger ending, the sequel s ending on the other side was pretty sad that envolved Everything being a dream by a kid in a comma and some characters represented him like Wilfre

...

Why does Link wear no pants? What if she shees it?

Ghost trick

Kingdom hearts 358/2 who else will I have icecream with

BoF3 ending still brings me to tears
Also Ghost Trick

This and Deadly Premonition then. Thanks again, mister Lynch.

She did user, why do you think she is always so nice to you?

...

I am trying to think. The first game I ever beat was Star Fox on the SNES. Before that I just thought games went forever (I was very young, I think 5 or 6).

It wasn't the ending per se. But having beat it, I realized that things could be beaten. It had a big impact on how I viewed things.

LISA the painful

and Silent Hill, and portions of Metal Gear.

Lynch influenced games far more than you would think.

Probably as much as lovecraft but in a more subtle way.

Grandia. Worth the stay after the credits.

Don't forget about mizzurna falls.

And it's arguable less as good DLC

Remember.
You promised to never forget her.

...

This one hit me hard.
The end of the last mission comes fast out of nowhere as you're defending a convoy of civilian transports fleeing the shivan advance after the GTVA's efforts to defend the system has been shattered. Then suddenly you get a countdown and are told the shivans just blew up the star, when the countdown reaches zero the shockwave reaches you, be out of the system before then if you want to live, but buy time for the civilian transports until then. And here's the kicker, the civies won't all make it in time.
First time I got here, I was still fighting off shivan bombers and corvettes when the time ran out…

...

Beating Pokemon Yellow and catching Mewtwo, i felt like a fucking badass.

And MOTHER 3, Itoi himself has admited to it.

Link's Awakening was also my first game to beat, and it was fantastic as well.
The game's soundtrack is truly a Masterpiece.
Ballad of the Wind Fish, Sword Search, Tal Tal Heights, Dream World, House Theme - all masterpieces made with a very limited hardware.

First game I've ever beat was link related. I also beat Adventure Island 2 shortly after. It felt way too good.

What are you, a fucking gay?

...

This at the end. Especially when Zelda's Lullaby kicked in.

...

...

Tfw you will never forget her.

Ending of persona 3 always makes me cry.

im starting to take screenshot of my games now, to fucking remember, i dont even take photos of people for gods sake

god help my poor boxes hdd when the big jrpgs start to hit.

First time I actually cried with a game ending.

Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale also let profound impressions, they had a better ending than both Baldur's Gate.

Icewind Dale's was a more Hollywood-like ending, sure, but it was so well done. That music, that twist, it was perfect. I remember staying through all the credits, listening to a now-calmer music while saying my goodbyes to that gigantic tree growing in the artic.

But Planescape: Torment was a more personal ending. After all my difficulties, finding a permament ending to a quest that looked eternal was very shocking. Thiking too much about the fact that both eternity and mortality are horrible options is pretty tiring, too.

My nigga, this is my favorite game of all time for just how simple and bittersweet the story was with my favorite song in the series. beat me to it. It's the one game that I both would both love and be horrified to hear Nintendo say they're looking at, but given the climate in the industry I hope it stays long untouched.

Even the manga was great, especially when Link learns the truth and tries so hard to hold onto the dream. To the point of trying to keep from killing the monsters. . .

man, thank you for that, didn't know about the soundtrack.

Persona 3 hit me pretty hard.

Thank fuck the tumblr crowd appears not to commonly know Zelda has gameboy games, they remain pure.

...

I had forgotten about tumblr. . .now I'm thinking just how they can ruin it

Link is finally a girl, Marin is her lesbian companion with problem hair, who seeks to escape the island, and sings in ke$ha style auto tune. The windfish is a healthy at any weight tumblr land whale with blue hair and tats, and the island is a big metaphor for the patriarchy.

Excuse me while I kill myself.

...

Probably Portal.
Back when it came out I didn't know any english, so I just played most games guessing what the story was and the emotional moments didn't touch me.
Imagine my surprise when in the end the villain starts singing a fucking disney song.

>darksouls
It was like watching yourself grow up and it's the only emotional impact I've gotten from any game ever

Super Metroid.
I mostly felt fear, though. The game gives you such a huge sensory overload, and the Mother brain's sound design is huge and grating.I was 8 at the time and spent most of the fight trying not to freeze up.

Final Fantasy 9 got me more in the way the OP is looking for though….
I mean, I didn't keep Garnet's name as "dagger" so the wording had much less impact, but it was still pretty great knowing exactly what was going to happen and just waiting to see the look on her face when it did.

Blank Dream had me fucking crying, though. It had me completely fooled. I've never been happier to be set up like that.
A shame Markiplier never finished it after what happened. It might've helped him.

They're still ashamed to be seen with a handheld gaming device, because gaming is only trendy when you're doing it with other people in approved circumstances. Also, they aren't as graphically pretty as the console ones, which people care a lot about.

The Zelda 4 manga is unique in that it actually tries (and succeeds) in staying very loyal to the game. This includes little quests and items. I'm very thankful they added more scenes with Marin.

Those guys really remixed the whole game.
Link's Awakening was the first Zelda in adding new music in every dungeon.

You know, the whole thing probably messed up with Link really hard.
It's a nice thing he don't talk in the games. The guy had some hard moments in his many incarnations.

There were some games that really got some nice impact, whole Shadow Hearts series was powerful, but the second is the best one. The ending, that brings both hope to one characters, and a sad future to the other. And all while fighting a good man that lost everything because of "collateral damage" caused by people thirst for power. A love story that became real, but not in classic way. Damn I love that game.

Another one that I never imagine that would have some impact was MK9.
During the whole game, they make sure that things are not working out for Raiden and the crew, and to the very end, they never do. Every victory was pyrrhic, costing more to achieve, to the very end, when all they did by defeating the danger of Shao Khan, was to make things easier for Shinok and Quan Chi.
It's sad they didn't had the balls to keep this on MK X. That story mode was terrible.

Portal's whole endgame sequence is the stuff of legends.
My biggest shock was realizing that the reason everyone likes so much the end song is because you have been listening to it constantly. Pic related.

I got stuck at Portal 2's selection screen, immediatly after beating the game. No tears this time, just silence.

That ending took me completely by surprise. Shed some tears too. And oh god, that music.

Do you think Marin was a projection of what Link wanted? His perfect girl? It sort of makes sense when you think about it.

That was such a fucked up choice, Link either had to kill everyone by waking the Wind Fish, or he had to essentially let everyone die slowly because of the Nightmares.

Links Awakening is honestly the game I play whenever I start to get disillusioned with vidya, it's the game I play to remember why I still love video games and why I still believe in them.

I have no idea, that was 30 years ago. As for games that I actually remember felling something STALKER: COP has to be near the top, that dark Slav storytelling always gets me.

I know the feel user…the past is inevitably forgotten tho let it go

Can't remember the first one so i'll just name a few

How old are you? You have to be a certain age to post here

Add something to the thread before complaining, fag.

Reminds me of that SNES wrestling game were after winning you had an existential depression ("you've completed all quests: there's nothing more to achieve") and killed yourself. For some reason it didn't make it outside of Japan.

Link's Awakening to me is the greatest example of how to do a game story without sacrificing any of the game. While the game did sort of put you on a track as far as dungeons went, it was such a wide track that I wanted to explore it and play through it, and as you play you search for hints and sometimes find clues to the truth, subtly pulling you while the characters were so inviting you never wanted to leave. The music compliments everything so well, the ballad was so melancholy to me the first time I heard it, and when I understood why, and when it was over I understood why. The narrative is so light and unremarkable at first because for me, I was the story. As Link, I looked for a way out, to find a way of the island, only to find in the end I met my objective, but it long ceased to be what I wanted. So many games beat you over the head with cutscenes and voice work. In those games, the writers seem to feel they constantly have to remind you why you care, and games that are sold and touted as art are just exhibit pieces. Link's Awakening, to me, is a great example of how games are their own medium. It was an adventure I lived, and the story was driven forward by my own feelings and attachments to the world and characters, and of all the Zelda's, was the one where the name Link, being his role in linking the world and player, was fulfilled to it's fullest.

Sorry for the autistic rant and shit grammer, I just really love this game and can't help but gush.

I've spent an inordinate amount of time crying over the ending of mother 3. I got my copy when I was 13. I'm 22 now. I miss my copy

You know what OP, the first game I beat was probably Link's Awakening too, but when Link went up the stairs to meet the windfish, and the dialogue with him ends, the game always softlocked. So I thought that was the actual ending, no credits or anything, just Link looking at the windfish hovering while some calming music played. To this day I don't know if that was some sort of anti piracy method or my game was corrupted or something.

I would play this game if it were not for he annoying pitched up voice on the stupid dragon fairy thing.

I don't beat games often, and when I do the emotion I feel is accomplishment. I remember no game to this day that has ever moved me with it's history, with the - possible - exception of FFT.

The ending of G-senjou no maou, on the other hand…

There he is, there's muh nigga
sometimes I wish I never had played LISA, I can't ever fill out the void after being completely done
wat do

I honestly don't remember.

It's been a long time since I've started beating games.

Most recently, I guess it would be The Walking Dead Season 1. Keep That Hair Short best ending.

Keep making new saves, or look for fan games.

Super's ending was not ok, was too used to the old way the stories used to finish in the older pmds

to explain myself better, it's such a slight curveball but still effective enough to catch you offguard and leave an impact on you, at least until you get done with the extra chapters

I keep hearing stuff about this game.
I guess I'll give it a try.

What was different in Explorers of Sky compared to Time/Darkness? Was the story any different?

Slightly different/addtional story arcs, Sky is pretty much a upgraded version with more content.

There's not reason to play time/darkness when you can play sky

I was just curious, because I played Darkness when it came out but never picked up Sky

...

The emotional high that comes with the ending sequence to Okami is amazing.

majoras mask

seeing that kids playing on the moon… those giants chanting and holding the moon, it just bring tears to my eyes

Dreams Come True's music is probably the part that gave me feels here. Thinking back this is probably the first end that evoked an emotional response that wasn't just self accomplishment or laughter at a dumb joke.

The moment that hit me the hardest in PS:T wasn't the ending. It actually was reading the memory of yourself lying to Deionarra and meeting with her father right after.

She cucked you while you were in jail, the kid isn't yours.

Seen a lot of people mention Mother 3 as a great game over the years, but I've also seen people endlessly praise Earthbound saying that the gameplay was great when it's worse than your average jRPG, praising the igetthatreference.jpg humour, calling the tame soundtrack unforgettable and saying that the plot is the best thing in gaming when it's copy-pasted from the DBZ Trunks saga. So my question is this: is Mother 3 an actual good game in its own right or is it just more nostalgia goggles/people masturbating to it because Earthbound was popular?

FUCK TUMBLRTALE

Id like to start out by saying, that i think all you people who play tumblrtale suck a big fat goat dick.

now, to move on

I think TUMBLRCUCKS are pathetic. all they do is sit around with their big lips and collect welfare. and if they're not doing that, theyre robbing, raping, stealing, murdering, or in jail. So id like to give a big fuck you to all you tumblrites out there. By the way, im not really racist, i have a tumblrite NIGGER in my family tree. Hes been hanging there about 20 years (badumdum!)

Now on to SJWTALE cucks. they are like a mixture of tumblrcucks and bunnies. they also sit around and collect welfare, but they have a different method. They all reproduce at an amazing rate, and then the welfare collection moves on into the next generation. They really all should be lined up and shot, with their goy clothes and their nigger skeleton flags. And, like tumblrcucks, they go out robbing, raping, mugging, stealing, murdering, and end up in jail.

WHY ARE PEOPLE LIKE THIS ALLOWED IN Holla Forums?

Jews. Hitler was right. They are nothing but money grubbing little fucks. like that guy toby fox, look at him. He makes a pointless game, sells a million some copies, AND THAT ISNT ENOUGH. now he has to make a movie too. That movie is going to suck, just like him, and just like all his fans. Hes a self centered piece of shit, just like every other jew ive met. And whats this deal with jews whining about the holocaust?!?! they gotta make movies, books, whatever. Its all about money with them. they cant spend their own money and get on a public access channel and whine about it, no they gotta set up a holocaust memorial, bug that faggot jew steven spielberg to make a movie that sold out, and a bunch of other shit. fuck jews.

All they do is fuck like bunnies and spread the tumblrcuck virus. I hope they kill themselves off soon.

Tumblrtales are out to ruin the economy. Look at em with their piece of shit meme games. Why do they have to evade our economy? I mean, i dont see anything wrong with them sellin shit over here, but they practically SHOVE IT DOWN OUR THROATS! and YOU FUCKERS keep buying the shit. I say we send a couple more sage-bombs over there, take care of their tumblr asses.

Goat molesters make me sick, but they keep popping up! Whats this world coming to when these guys can peddle their goatkiddy porn over the internet! ITS SICK! All those goatkiddy porn fuckers should be castrated with plastic forks and burned at the stake.

its just some little pretentious rpg maker tier game

jeez

You're nowhere near Skyline's level. Don't even make the attempt, you've already shown your hand.

My heart. My kicked, bitten, cut and mutilated heart.

I actually shed a few manly tears during the conversation between Waka and Issun at the end.

Issun started as the "annoying hand-holding sidekick" and ended up being the broest of all the bros in all of vidya, 10/10 character development right there.

You sound like you need some Joy in your life.

This game made me feel something, alright.

It made me feel rage.
No, I don't want to spend several RPG hours trying to save a teacher just so that she can die at the end of the game right when we finally reach her.
No, you can't just tease a relationship between my player character and one of my classmates only for the epilogue to reveal they went into space and never came back.
NO, I DON'T FUCKING LIKE BEING SEALED OFF FROM THE BONUS DUNGEON FOREVER JUST BECAUSE I SAVED AT THE WRONG TIME.

Either you are some non-gaming faggot, have incredibly shit taste, or are underage.

Whichever the reason, please leave.

This pasta smells old.

the original is from 1997 iirc

You know what, I'm not finished. This game just cannot decide on its tone. One moment you've got cute animals and pirate otters and people and towns named after food, and the next people start getting killed. There's a world tree in this game called Yggsalad. Yggsalad. A little girl tries to sacrifice her own townsfolk to the tree and eventually sacrifices herself instead. Fucking EGG SALAD, DEVOURER OF SOULS.

Played this for the first time in my late 20s,absolutely phenomenal and packed a bigger emotional punch than any modern game

That sounds hilarious, you're making me want to play this game.

Mother 3 has more interactive gameplay but a more linear progression. Mostly because of an actual and pretty good story. The nonbattle music is better in my opinion.
Earthbound's more like a celebration of childhood than anything.

Half Life 2 episode 2.

There isn't much more to half life than shooting and puzzle solving. There was a brief bit where video related played that I found powerful but the rest was just run about and kill stuff. I didn't know how much I cared for Alyx until I watched her father get killed.

This game is a hidden masterpiece. Most Americans never played or even know about its existence because it was only released in Europe.

Seriously, not kidding here: When you first step into the Underworld and that music starts to play you KNOW that this game will be a Masterpiece. The Menu was something that you appreciate just for how they made it look so good - And when you start Reviving stuff! When I first revived a Continent, the whole cinematic, music, and overall atmosphere were really engulfing, total immersion!

Fuck you user, I forgot about that.

cool feedback, bro

I played and beat it in an emulator when I was like 10 user. The game really felt alive, in a sense.

My first experience playing Link's Awakening was during an after-school program during Elementary school. The program had a few gameboys and they'd let people play them for a span of half an hour before they had to switch them off. I ended up getting into an agreement with another kid that we'd share the same save file and play through it together so another brat wouldn't delete our file.

Neither of us wanted to wake up the Windfish.

You never want to wake up from a great dream user, but all those friends you make have to go away with the dawn…

;_;7

Honestly, Link's Awakening DX has to be one of my favorite games of all time. It's easily my favorite Zelda title.

I consider it a trilogy with capcoms fantastic oracle games.

i miss when the GBC had games like zelda, pokemon, harvest moon and so on that used the same sprite ratio, it was so comfy.

I don't remember any games where the ending made me feel(unless you count Metal Fatigue not getting a sequel after the true ending).

But I did cry myself to sleep on the night after Galuf died in FF5.

My cunt brother deleted my Drawn to Life save.

I didn't cry, but man was it satisfying to see those pictures. Shame Dark Dawn wasn't nearly as good. I was hoping for more Golden Suns from Camelot.

Heading into the final missions in that game was really nice. I'm glad I played basically every AC game blind. I wouldn't say the stories were award winning, but it really fits the world it was in.

I'll be interested to see how they handle this situation with Gravity Rush 2. Hopefully they don't just gloss over it and never talk about it again.

>leddit already stole my copypasta
fucking faggots

I heard there's parts of it where you hear a faint voice calling for the MC and it's actually people outside of the dreamworld trying to wake him up. I really like it when devs put rather "mature" themes in children's games.

How many games let you play as a cat?

Anyhow, my addition. I don't know why exactly I got such an emotive response from TWEWY, I guess it's half "man I really don't want this game to end" and half story related reasons. It's one of those games that did everything right with its hardware, I think.

Screw you! My first Waifu is a fucking tree now!

Man, figuring out the TWEEST with Link's Awakening was something I should have seen coming from the beginning, given the title of the game. But it still hit me hard, especially when one realizes what waking the wind fish does to the island you've been exploring and so forth upon the entire time.

The worst part of the thing, is that it did probably the most soul-crushing thing any Zelda title could do to any Lunk: He found a loving, caring and cheerful waifu named Marin, got to know her so much, chatted with her, and even (from what can be informed) was leaving him hopeful when this ended they could be together. But he would be left to realize that in stopping the evil of the island and fixing shit via the wind fish, the waifu he loved the entire time was going to stop existing forever more. And now with Lunk left never to see or hear her ever again, he has to live with the fact that Marin is gone forever.

You never truly know how much you miss someone or something until it's gone or about go away forever. And Link learned this lesson the hard way.

couldn't agree more - can't say enough good things about it

is that the one with the whole 13 hour thingy? and **you are just the evil version of the hero and all the town cease to exist?

Heres the question: which is worse -he remembers it all, or he remembers nothing?

play off

It's a lose-lose situation for Lunk. If he remembers it all, he'll remember Marin and that she's gone, that he'll never see her again because she doesn't exist anymore. But if doesn't remember a thing, then it leaves Marin in basically a Xion situation: Never meant to be, and no one will ever remember her ever again. And Link, after all he did to try to be able to get close to her and even promise to remember her always, would be left to forget he ever met her, or even her name or face. Sure, he had the adventure, but he'll never be able to remember the details ever again. Left to feel a pain in his heart he can never explain, of a promise he can never truly keep.

and people say Majora is the deepest Zelda.

But if he forgot it all, wouldn't he forget that he was supposed to remember something and live on as usual? I mean, she's not real anyway. Not like she's going to judge him for forgetting.

I agree as well, it may not be full on stellar storyline, but it was very enjoyable, and getting to hear tidbits of your squadron was an extremely nice touch.

...

In El Shaddai, halfway through the game, something completely unexpected happens that changed the tone of the entire game.

When the credits finally rolled, it made me feel much worse.

FUCK YOU LUCIFEL YOU LITTLE SHIT

Also, Year Walk.

>get to the second end soon after

Sweden is a shithole and the game was a walking sim, but centuries ago they were badass.

It doesn't even need to make sense RADIO FAILURE, just feeling like I was part of an actual team doing something was great, even if you get more kills than all your teammates combined.

Man, now I think I'm gonna replay 5. I still haven't beaten X, though.

Fear not, bestgirl is back in town
With the Sea Lilly Bell as her weapon and a Horrible Voice, nothing close to her Godly 8bit GB voice

...

Probably Mario 64.
There was just something very joyful and uplifting about it when I was really young.

Favorite is
We're…We're back!
You're home.
IN YOU AND I

Cried a little tbh

First time? Probably Wario Land II, mostly thanks to the incredibly moving credits music. I didn't expect to hear something that amazing on a Game Boy.

Most of these games were made before 2007.

Yeah. That would be bad.
A rom Hack with the Witch Maple as the main character, though…

I'll never forget my first play through of Cave Story.

This game is the quintessential example of how story should function within a videogame. Not overbearing, lets the player connect dots, makes the player care about what happens, and MOTIVATES him to do what he at first thought was impossible.

It killed me when the Robobot armor cried.

That caught me off guard.

but not as much as GIGA DORIRRU BUREKAAAAAAAAAAAA

Okami probably had some of the best emotional peaks in any videogame I've played. When you fight Orochi for the first time captures the whole final boss feeling perfectly.

I was completely and utterly caught off guard when I realized that was only the first major boss fight in the game.

And then there is Oni Island, the fight against Oki, then the fight against Lechku and Nechku with Shiranui.

Not to mention the actual final fight.

Yami's final form has the whole battlefield shrouded in darkness Ammy's left powerless and at death's door after he destroys the constellations again.

Issun finally gets everyone you met to pray to Ammy. One by one the praise orbs gather around her, each constellation twinkles back into the sky. There's a howl, 天, The Sun Rises starts playing.

It's my favorite final boss fight. Every part of bit of it was perfectly executed and presented.

I actually felt a bit sad after I was done and I realized the game was finally over.

I haven't played it in years. I should give it another go.

You have great taste, lad.

I was so touched at the end of both portals.
Im not even sure why.

But when I went to discuss it on Holla Forums I was boo'd for liking a meme game

Speaking of oni island, that fucking boss fight with ninetails and how she fucking hijacks your paintbrush screen and does brush techniques against you

Brilliant. It's like if in a resident evil game a monster could fuck you up on the pause screen.

And yeah, the final boss battle was one of the best climaxes I've experienced in video games.

But what really got me was Issun's backstory and when he realizes what's his true purpose. Inspiring as fuck.

I also should replay it soon. It's time.

The ending of Portal 2 sent me for a loop. Holy hell I thought it was amazing.

There's nothing "arguable" about how subpar Joyful was.

And why is everyone talking like this is a fucking forum or something? You all sound like complete faggots.

Why do you space your posts like a subhuman? Who does this sort of thing? Why do you think reading something like this would be easier? A single line isn't a paragraph.

Still, you reminded me that I should replay Okami.

my fucking nigger
miss madeline ;_;
yeah, I was mad angry at the end of the game when they all just fuck off into different directions, like they were never friends at all
also, where and what is that bonus dungeon?

oh and I heard that Magical Vacation, the prequel, got and english patch now

Consider suicide.

Fucking Final Fantasy Tactics

>Ramza did a lot of heroic feats and fought for what he believed was right only to be labelled as the scum of Ivalice, while Delita manipulated and backstabbed his way to the throne and was hailed a hero
>That after-credits scene where Ovelia stabs Delita and he kills her in return.

Very few games have given me the sense of melancholy and closure I felt that day.
The other game that made me feel that much was Nier.

Was just about to post pretty much the exact same thing. FFT is still my favorite game of all time and that story just makes me look at all other final fantasy games with disgust. What the hell. Everything about FFT is goddamn tragic.
the true powerhouse is black mage/calculator

Metal Gear Solid 2

I don't remember which grade I was in, but I am thinking highschool.

I remember I got to the part where the Colonel starts explaining everything. And for some reason, I suddenly felt really sick in my stomach. I was incredibly uncomfortable and I remember muting the sound, even though I don't remember what he was saying.

It would be years later I looked it up and realized that what was being said was disturbingly prophetic.

I remember being really nervous, thinking, "this is a little to real for wacky jap video game"

Fuck, I can't remember.

The most recent one was Quantum Conundrum.
The ending made me feel delighted that someone paid Chris Ballew to make music for their game.

cheesy endings are the best

Actually it's better this way than a repeat of the story from MK9. There needed to be a conclusion but what happens at the very end is uncertainty now that Raiden is corrupt. The only thing that let the story down in MKX is the power of friendship theme. Shit is like an 80's Saturday morning cartoon and is excessive.

I just kept playing the game throughout my younger years. Every time I reset the game I understood something about the game better, be it the plot or the game mechanics, and understanding the story better made me appreciate other things more. Even nowadays I keep discovering things I didn't think about before. Finishing the game and hearing the opening credits made me shed a few tears because I knew I had finished something fucking amazing throughout the years, like saying goodbye to a good old friend.

Seeing the current state of Final Fantasy and seeing Matsuno being delegated to mobile makes me rage fucking hard, especially after playing through TO: LUCT and Vagrant Story. He deserves far better than that. We all deserve Matsuno's genius far more than the putrid shit Square keeps pumping out.

rip gaz tbh

This game has an utterly chilling credit sequence that still gets me every now and then to this day.

Not my first but since anons posted them earlier I figured this one needed a mention.

In spite of the joy and happiness of a journey complete…during the final fight you knew his life was tied to the final boss and what would happen.

...

Its because devs thought they were making toys and cartoons for people that wanted to play shit normalfags would say is "faggot nerd shit" not summer blockbusters for the mainstream back then.

2008 was when it all went to shit.

Exactly how i played Vagrant Story, which is funny since its in the same universe as a side story.

I haven't played link's awakening before, should I play the gameboy or gameboy color version?

Really simple one, Kirby's Adventure, the first time I beat a game blind. Dat Nightmare was surreal as fuck

I'd also put KHI and II up there, someone beat me to TWEWY, and also MGS2

GBC version is improved in every way and has an extra dungeon hidden in the map.

Either one is good, if you want slightly more content do the GBC version but you can't go wrong with the GB one.

Nah.

I was a devout kid. I find it funny that the thing that first made me question god was FFT. It was extremely obvious who they were talking about.

Maybe this is the Nips' plans after all. Turn the world away from G-d!

I know, brother. I know.

...

Trying to remember, how many features of the DS DIDN'T this game use? There's internet connectivity and the GBA slot, but I think that's it.

You can still shoplift THIEF.

Wanna hear something funny?

Primm randomly falls on her knees during the fight against Thanatos. She is crying Dyluck's death.

But the saddest part about Secret of Mana is that it doesn't go on forever and you will never ever have another co-op ARPG like this that you can enjoy with a friend.

few things are as terrifying as being told by your dream inhabitants that the only way they can know the sweet embrace of death is to kill the dreamer
and then they start running at you

man i fucking love the warioland games
the one for advance wasn't as good though

I also liked the portal games, for the fact a tech demo had better lore than most new games, the endings to both just seemed perfect.
Potato Glados is top tier waifu.

I think one of the most important things to note about Links Awakening is that barring the beginning and the ending, there is only one real cutscene. Yes, there's plenty of times when the game takes control and plays out scenes in front of you, but the only time the view of the game actually shifts into an even slightly cinematic moment is when you're on the beach with Marin. The fact that this is the only time this happens during the entirety of the game makes this moment very powerful, doubly so because it hammers home how much Link (and the players) have come to care for Marin.

The ending of mgs4 made me cry

Max Payne

The Wonderful 101. By the time I had hit the end it made me feel exhausted like I had actually traveled through all of the events of the game, with every step forward being met by another setback and how all of the character's armor slowly becomes more and more damaged as you barely scrape through each oncoming fight. The ending felt so satisfying after it was all done, like the Wonderful ones had actually earned their happy ending.

Holla Forums really is just filled with 12 year olds isn't it?

No, it's just hard to remember

Probably because you wank too much fam.
The shit blurs your vision and rots your brain.

That Atari ET game.

I made me feel things, alright.

The FIRST time you beat a game and the ending made you feel something.
THE FIRST TIME.

Stop finding excuses to be jaded.

You know what's funny, when people try to say the nuke scene in that game was an impactful moment.

Hi, I'm here to make you cry bitch tears.

Kinda feels the ending is null and void now that Marin is back in Hyrule Warriors.

...

They've brought back almost everyone, even Midna.
It's just fanservice, not canon. No way all those "stories" can make any sense.

That girl looks familiar, where's she from?

...

First ending was bad.
So I replayed the game 2 times in hopes of getting better one.
Only thing awaiting was pain and suffering.

I wish more games had sad ending.

You know whats bullshit?

What a fucking shit design choice that was.

It's shit, why the fuck would plebbit want it?

My bretheren.

Also, seen Ramza's moveset in the new Dissidia? He's cribbing moves from all over the class list. Special Squire, Knight, Monk, White Mage, Samurai. Using Shout or Steel buffs your entire team and powers up your moves the same way having your Limit charged does for Cloud in Smash Brothers.

Far from it, Nintendo finally did it.

They remembered her. The one thing she asked of us was to never forget her or her song.

Fuck that weird voice she has, though

her voice is cute

That music kicks in when i realize as a young child that this amazing game will never be able to be played for the first time everagain

Wrong autism webm.

The only endings that have ever given me feels are

Oh and Legend of the Dragoon.

...

This is what is best in life.

one of the best games I've played. MN9 will die and deserves to.

it was dwm for me, though not for the story's ending, but the credits music. still probably my favorite gbc game outside the zelda oracle games

Answered your own question

...

you still can

what are you talking about? I can;t find anything on the wrestling game where you kill yourself.

Visualboyadvance is your friend user.

Do it. Save your imouto and make things right.

Twilight Princess. I didn't even finish it until like 2 years ago. Strangely enough it's the only game I can remember getting emotionally involved in.

I always got stuck after the dragon. The tournament was 2hard.

You will notice that the overwhelming majority of games in this thread are nip games. Why are Japs so much fucking better at making videogames that make the player feel emotions than western developers? Like, I mostly play western games and there are fucktons of them that are great, but almost all of them are great simply because the gameplay is fun. The only games that I really got emotional in any way with are Japanese games. Is this just because we are a bunch of fucking weebs or are Jap devs just better?

As a tangent, game music. This is something that I have been thinking about for awhile, but why are Japs so much better at music in video games? Obviously there are some exceptions such as Hotline Miami, but there are very, very few western games where the music is very memorable. On the other hand, it seems like every other good Jap game has a great OST. Christ, even the niche low budget fishing game I played on PSX had great music, embed related.

This is going to sound like a nippon stronk post, but I really don't mean it like that. As I said, I mostly play Western games but it really does seem like Japs have something better going than us when it comes to emotional games and game OSTs.

Look at the silent hill difference as a sample:

The ending is good and makes sense.
Too bad Zelda is not an important character, again

My top 6 Zelda endings in terms of how many tears were shed:

6- A Link to the Past ("… and the Master Sword sleeps again, FOREVER!")
5- Link's Awakening (Marin sees the world is ending and decides to keep singing)
4- A Link Between Worlds (Hilda crying after seeing the triforce restored)
3- Wind Waker (When the music starts in the post-credits sequence)
2- Ocarina of Time (The whole ending sequence is filled with goosebumps. What kills me is the very very last scene.)
1- Twilight Princess (The subtle Midna music that sounds after the mirror is shattered into millions of pieces)

Special mention to Skyward Sword. Not a memorable ending, but transforming a perfect douche like Groose into a character you'd look up to is impressive. Spirit Tracks had a nice ending, too.

Yeaaaahh, about that….

Also the opening to WW got me more. I was ready for the first next gen Zelda assuming it was another stand alone adventure that the internet was shitting on as "Celda was going to ruin Nintendo".

Then the opening happens and at the time you assume "Wait, so Link never came out of the Lost Woods after Majora? did he die? was my entire beloved adventure in Ocarina completely pointless?"

It loaded the player with these melancholy feelings of uselessness and that only builds you up more with the 'Your Imouto has been kidnapped!' idea.

Still the fact that everything was fucked and you didn't fail, you simply were not there meant the world felt kind of hopeless and downtrodded. Then you get to Hyrule and fuuuuucck.

If you're talking about Silent Hill: Homecoming the player character was never actually in the military I rather liked the story of it, if nothing else.

Why? I actually know Pat Doody who co wrote with a buddy while high. He told me they just ripped off hostel and phantoms because 'its videogames who cares' and he has had an ego since he was hired to write a supernatural web series spin off.

They got you man. You da goy.

Look up the Zelda symphony live performances of the Links Awakening songs. They're fucking 10/10.

That game and it's music are so underrated it's not even funny. Clean as fuck platformer with great controls, actual secrets, and an excellent soundtrack. It should be in a museum.

thanks for informing me that there's a mango of LA. I will be getting it asap. I feel those feels too, fam. Reading the Southern Shrine inscription and the ending give me major goosebumps.

I haven't seen either of those movies.

10/10 post. I want to save it but almost feel like it would be happier drifting in my subconscious as a dream rather than being trapped in 2D.

Ouch, user. I know the pain of not having your copy of the game, but somebody else's that they got rid of.

I need to play this game. Which version is best? PS2? Wii? (Wii would be easier for me as it emulates better)

user, the original is so nuch better. Why the fuck they took out the warping I will never know.

Good taste.

PS3 if you can, PS2 has the rice filter and non butchered credit sequence, Wii has waggle faggotry.

Memory constraints maybe? I mean it was in colour and they threw in the extra dungeon plus it was a release title for GBC.
To be honest though I never even noticed that they'd took warping out. Probably because there was so much time between my playing the original and DX

Wild Arms 4, the rest of the WA games generally had happy endings so WA4 kinda threw me of a loop, not just on the ending but how dark it was, lot of people died and none of your characters ever see each other again or get to much of a happy ending, hell one of your party members straight up dies.
