It's actually decent emulated, as long as you get the patch that ties motion to the direction keys. It's how I originally played it and it plays fine outside of a few games and the final stage.

It could be anything, even something as basic as working in a warehouse. Those rubber coated gloves are dirt cheap, you can get them for $1 a pair at hardware stores. Lots of workplaces buy them in bulk because they're cheap.
They are also garbage. I worked in a lumber mill and those fucking things would fall apart in a couple days, and if anything is slightly damp your hands will be soaked all damn day.
