The problem with WoT and WT is that it's a grindfest .

Especially in WoT when you reach tier 6-8 going towards tier 10 it's becomes long. So you have the option to grind or get a premium tank to make more cash and buy gold to convert unused experience into free experience to use on other tanks.

The problem with buying premium tanks is that they'll release them OP, then nerf them into the ground, then release new premium tanks.

As for WT, I never got very far, maybe tier 4, it's more "realistic" the WoT

WoT, however they changed it a few years ago so that you had the option to buy it with silver, however its 10x as expensive a regular ammo

Neither of them are really P2W. WoT premium vehicles are are almost all worse than similar tiered normal vehicles. The gold ammo is a problem, but you can buy it with non premium currency as well, so it's not too bad.

WT is a little bit more sloppy with its premium vehicles, but for the most part they are about equal strength compared to the normal ones, but in the past there have been a few famously overpowered ones. It has a harsher penalty on the grind if you don't pay, though.

Both have an absolutely ludicrous grind, with a pay-to-advance-quickly thing going. You are also stuck with an inferior "stock" vehicle for between 3 and 50 games, depending on how far you are into the game and how good you are at playing before you get the full strength of the vehicles you unlock. Of course, the stock period is skippable with money. I have gotten a couple of tier 7s in WoT without paying anything, but it took months and months of playing. Era 4 planes in all countries and era 5 in one in WT without paying, but goddammit I must have at least 600 hours in it by now but I don't use steam for it so I cannot check. Note that I got most of that in WT from back in the day when grinding was a bit easier.

The thing is that the games themselves have some great gameplay, especially WT once you get into the more advance plane gameplay, but god fucking dammit the "outside the game" part is horrible in both of them.

One has to wonder why though. I mean, that's a considerable advantage over the regular player being sold for money. One can go around buying gold ammo and utterly decimating everyone in the opposing team, if one has the slightest bit of skill.

I've always wanted a decent tank game, and those are the two that offer it. But going around getting curbstomped by niggas with 1000 hours of experience and kids with credit cards doesn't sound fun at all

If you have a brain and understand how to play video games, you can get better than most players you fight in either games pretty quick. As much as I hate to say it, the warthunder and world of tanks subreddits are (or at least were when I still played the game a lot) probably the best place to learn about getting good at the games. If you make a thread here, it just gets filled with ">playing F2P jew games" posts.

When it comes to tank gameplay, WT is probably easier to get into. Stuff more or less works as you would expect in real life so it mostly is intuitive and in arcade mode you have a lot of lives to burn through so you can just keep slinging tanks out there instead of waiting around for the match to end. WoT has a lot of odd mechanics that are hard to figure out but work really well once you know them all. I think I am at around 2000 battles in WoT and have decent stats but I still don't know how the fuck the stealth mechanics work for the most part.

In WoT, you're gonna get curbstomped by people with 100% crews with skills, fully unlock equipment and loaded with modules. I don't think many people do that in the early tiers. As said, WoT has a lot of odd mechanics.

Be warned that if you get into this game, you're gonna be spending hundreds of hours getting somewhere. My suggestion is to decide what you want and concentrate on it to get to tier 10 quickly(as in a few hundred hours), otherwise if you branch off too much you'll never get anywhere. Heavies are the most forgiving as they have more health and armor.

Also be warned that the game is anger inducing and frustrating. Sometimes you'll miss at point blank, other times you pull off miracle shots. Also artillery. Artillery ruins this game.

So much fucking RNG, rng accuracy, rng penetration, rng damage. Oh also don't worry about stats or anything. People will whine about other players stats at the beginning of matches sometimes, but really until you have at least 5000 games you're still new.

Now that I think about it, wouldn't that mean that a shit tank has a chance of decimating a top tier one with lucky shots? That could make the start bearable at least.
Also, are the Tiger tanks viable? I like the design of the Tiger so I might be maining it if I ever get into the game

German tanks in WoT suck dick because the game is made by butthurt Russians that think a 105mm German gun shouldn't penetrate a Russian medium tank's armor unless you are at point blank range.

Everything has a range in WoT. Damage is a random number of say 50-80, armor penetration could be between 20-30mm, etc. It's also HP based and higher tier tanks almost across the board have higher health, so they will nearly always win in a straight fight.

The Tiger 1 and 2 are great tanks, but an absolute fucking pain in the ass to get to. If you go down the heavy line, you need to go through the hell that is the DW2 (I think it is slated for removal? Not sure though) and a couple heavily armed heavies with shit armor. To get to the Tiger through the medium line you need to go through an extra tank IIRC.

Once you actually make it to the Tiger it is pretty good though.

WT Tiger is a similar story. Pain in the ass grind to get to it, but it is a great tank once you make it.

Which tanks in specific? Other than the douchewagon, all the heavies are decent, same with the mediums and TDs. I haven't touched the lights other than the PZ 1c or the arty, so I wouldn't know about those.

But to the person asking about the Tiger, I would recommend against going down the line for a beginner. The russian heavies are dead easy to play and I recommend them because they are close range brawlers which are easy for new players vs the early german heavies which until the Tiger are all snipers which are really hard to play until you at least know the basics of the camo system and how to use and abuse your crew members.

Fug, didn't see your post before I responded to the other one. Nigga, the German planes in WT are just straight up the best in RB mode until mid era 4. As for tanks, if you couldn't get the early PZ IVs, especially the first long gun one, to work, I don't know what to tell you. The American tanks and British tanks have absolutely nothing on the German tanks. Only the T-34s and KV-1 have a chance against the long barrel Pz IV and the Tigers and Panthers are absolutely top notch.

The giant gun (105mm) on the hetzer is a damn howitzer. If you are trying to pen anything with it using AP, you are doing it horribly wrong. Load almost all HE with maybe one or two HEAT for when it really counts. The gun is meant to nuke lower tier lights and meds, and fuck up the modules of heavies. I keep it in my garage as my fun tank because of how great having a howitzer at tier 4 is. The problem with it is that it can't do shit against higher tier heavies and some higher tier mediums. If you want to do particularly good in it, use the top 75mm on it because you can actually pen higher tiers with it, even if you lose the amazing alpha that the howitzer has.

The problem is the HE doesn't do shit unless you are touching the enemy.

I really hope you mistyped something there, because HE and HEAT are the only rounds in the game that are not effected by distance

You will probably quit the game if you just try to head straight for the Tiger unless you are willing to seriously read up on mechanics. Your options is the heavy line in which you have to brute force your way through the DW 2 which has just about the worst gun at its tier other than what light tanks have (and has armor made of newspapers) or go through the medium line which is a bunch of light armor flankers which is tough for new players to play because you need map awareness and some amount of stealth.

With the russian heavies, you can just sort of point your front at where the bad guys are and take shots from them and you are sort of doing your job. The KV-1 at tier 5 is probably the single most noob friendly tank in the game.

Remember that your greatest friend is the WoT wiki. It has decent guides on the pros and cons of every tank in the game and a decent summary of how to play them. It also has mechanics guides.

You get experience that is used for the tank that you are playing, you also get tiny amounts of "Free experience" which can be used on any tank, and as i mentioned earlier, you can buy gold to convert unused experience on the other tanks to free experience to be used on all tanks.

Unfortunately, that's just a Warthunder thing and even then it is just among the same country. In WoT, you are stuck using your XP for buying the next tank in line after the one you are in. Unless, of course, you are a good goy and pay to convert your extra XP into goy XP which can be used for anything.

That said, you can work on multiple lines at a time. You can only have each tank in one battle at a time, so after you die, you are either stuck waiting for the battle to end or you can leave the battle and use a different tank. I normally switch back and forth between two main tanks when grinding then have one backup fun tank for when I get too annoyed. It might be a good idea for you to just go down both the Russian and German line.

Silver, which you make by battling

3 currencies, silver, gold, and XP. Silver is gained from battles and is used to buy new tanks, new modules for the tanks, and for some crew training. I think you can also buy a few garage slots with silver before they start costing gold. Gold is the premium currency for all sorts of shit, and XP is for unlocking modules for the tank you get the XP for and the next tank in the line.

The holiday tanks are given for free alongside a free garage slot during various times of the year. I think there was 2 or 3 given out last year and they are normally tier 2 or 3.

In-game currency that you get by playing. You could also skip the grind with real money if you wanna be that guy.
The grind hits when you jump up to T5+ tanks, be prepared to spend a loooonnnnnng time in those T4-6 tanks.

Keep in mind that tiers 3-4 are the biggest speedbump for new players. You start getting matched with the big boys who are at tier 5 which is where most battles are being played so you get to fight higher tiers a lot. The game gets far, far more fun once you grind you way to tier 5 and 6.

And if there is one thing you got out of anything we said, use the wiki. It is the single most useful tool around for WoT, I always have a few tabs of it up while playing. Read about tanks you are going to play, read about tanks you have trouble fighting, read about whatever. It helps a lot.

Talking FROM experience, the Tiger tanks are some of the best tanks in the game. The Tiger 1 has one of the highest damage per minute ratings of any vehicle in World of Tanks, but it's not newbie friendly at all. If you get the Tiger after you've already learned the game, you'll absolutely love it. The Tiger 2 however, is very noob friendly. I'm enjoying the shit out of it right now.
