It was always infuriating to me seeing Giant Bomb shilled on half chan, they were always shit. They kept going on about how different GB was from other game sites but after checking them out they were just like the rest of them. There was nothing seperating them from other sites, they were painfully unfunny and boring and Patrick Klepek was an insufferable fuck who made everything he was a part of even worse than it already was.

A few reasons

Many people were dissatisfied with Gamespot, the original place where most of the people at Giant Bomb resided, liking the reviewers but hating the company they worked for.

Another is they essentially popularized the idea of showing the games in actual play and talking about it, via their Quick Look series. While I have no doubt there were others who did it before, they're the first journalistic organization that comes to mind.

Finally, prior to the death of Ryan, they could be pretty funny. While his death certainly isn't entirely to blame, it was most certainly the catalyst to the shitshow we see now.

While they were certainly not perfect, they at least used to have some semblance of personality that other games media was devoid of.
