Also, since I started reading the Hegemony of Play document, it seems to echo the same attitude that the Queer Lens entries had. It's starting to make me see everything a little clearer.

I think the primary reason they hate Whites and by extension, Asians, is not because they are what they are, but because they've mad up the dominant forces in the market. Japanese games have posed a long-time threat to the indie scene, and I believe that's the primary reason why we've been seeing less and less Jap games make it to the west. And when they do, localizers make it their mission to remove or dilute the very things that have made Jap games popular with Western audiences since the 80's and 90's.

I believe this entire ideological battle is actually less about someone being triggered by boobies, and more about a large-scale, deliberate, (perhaps even unconscious for the useful idiots) attempt to subvert the market at large, and to redefine what succeeds and what fails in the video game industry.

You can think of the push for diversity as something similar to what's going on in Europe. They might be trying to out the people who make up the dominant forces in the market, and ultimately get rid of the games and game mechanics that we've come to appreciate.

But what is the end goal. Why are they doing this? For common core?

One of the main reasons why academia has failed to gain popular traction in gaming is because of the fact that gamers gravitate towards games that are entertaining and have engaging game mechanics.

The games they want to make successful are simply using the digital games as a vector for political/psychological influence, often at the expense of any kind of entertaining mechanics. That's why these kinds of narrative and art games never sell ridiculously well
