Can we have an Asterix thread?

Can we have an Asterix thread?

read 'em here: asterixonline.info/comics/index.php?manga=Asterix_Comics

Anyone read the latest one yet, it looks to be some kind of second take on the one that parodied the Tour de France. Not sure if it's gonna be any good

I haven't read any since the one with the aliens. It fucking ruined me.

me too but ive heard that the newest ones have gone down to earth to the normal tone, and the whole alien affair is never ever mentioned again. As it should be.

Are you going to storytime or what?

eh, ive got nothing else to do, any requests for which specific story you'd like to see?

Asterix and the cauldon. here we go.

I like both

This triggered my autism.

Never fails to make me smile.
On that note, I know this is more Holla Forums material but may I suggest you check out XXL2 Mission Las Vegum? There's plenty of vidya banter in there, with my favorite part being the Mario centurions that go wahoo and mamamia when defeated. Gameplay's kind of repetitive but it feels like you've been immersed in Asterix's world much more than the other games.

The rare time (only time?) where Asterix has a fair sword fight and doesn't seem to be that good at it.

IIRC Asterix rarely draws his sword and gets into even fewer sword fights. Given that his primary combat style involves relying on the strength granted by the magic potion. In The Twelve Tasks of Asterix he points out that if he and Obelix were to go toe to toe with Caesar's personal guard they'd be cut to ribbons, magic potion or not. He's a strong fighter, not necessarily a skilled one.

Finding out Goscinny was Jewish ruined it for me.

I don't understand. His comics are still good regardless. You thought they were good before you knew he was a jew, didn't you?

They're not all in on the ZOG conspiracy, you know. Also they couldn't be blatantly subversive in the old days, so made stuff that was just plain fun might as well enjoy it while you can, before Holla Forums takes over and has us all studying Pepe

I want tumblrinas to leave.

being a eurofag i bought it and played the shit out of it. it was a standard game, 7/10 but certainly great great asterix sauce on top

there was a story that made fun of feminism, for god's sake. It's…not really jewish influenced in any manner, rather traditionalist even. Yes, he's a jew, but you must admit you can't tell from Asterix that it's jewish influenced.

Also, no story tonight, apologies but i gotta fuck off to bed because life at work was gay and had to fix electrical spaghetti in a cramped enviroment, hence im fucking late.

I guess ill do the Mansions of the Gods tomorrow, or maybe my personal favourite, Asterix the legionary.

Since no storytime tonight, enjoy some of my Asterix reaction image folder

Check out the GBA version of XXL, if you can nab a copy, since it's fun as fuck and it's in 3D, and the PSP version of XXL 2 is almost the exact same game as on consoles. …Stay way from the DS port of XXL 2, it's fucking awful.

Wasn't Asterix also about to use his blade on an oncoming Viking hoarde in the film version of Asterix & The Vikings (Asterix & The Normans)?

I remember Asterix doing a Zorro in a sword fight once…

Samurai Jack is also shit because it was made by a kike.

No, I only thought the ones that Uderzo did by himself were good. Just like I thought Lucky Luke was better when it was just Morris.

Asterix and the the falling sky is an embarrassment tbh.

true, but the ones before that definity were okay.

aslo, thank you for waiting for me. Here's asterix on feminism.

In theory one of the best plans the Romans ever had.

I think the one with the D&C guy was the best one, especially since it exploited the Gauls' own weapons and made them question their own trust. It's also one of the few times where Asterix and Obelix almost broke up their friendship, that should tell you how much it was working.

You mean the guy who spreads hate amongs everyone? That was the absolute best plan.
Meanwhile in the movies, it was the best plan to attempt shooting the druid off the earth. It's strange that the Romans never tried capturing the druid again.

what in tarnation
which one?

It's a plan only from the movies. In the rather mediocre Asterix in America, the Romans realize they have to get rid of the druid.
But like in earlier Asterix movies, they consider the Gauls to be beyond human. So just to be on the safe side, the Romans capture the druid, sail to the end of the earth (which they think is flat) and use a catapult to throw the druid off the earth.

He lands on America and is saved, but the plot there is kinda weak. As far as I remember, the Roman who planned all this is friggin eaten by Caesar's black panther, not explicitely, but on-screen.

The movie had a hot indian girl though. If more people had seen it, they'd have stopped complaining about the sexualization of Pocahontas…

Thanks user.

Oh yeah I remember this. What an unremarkable movie, yet I still fondly remember the very first scene with the dubbed Romans trying to make increasingly dumber phalanxes. And yeah that scene was weird as fuck.
What's with animated Asterix movies sucking so much? The only good one is the 12 tales of Asterix and even then it was explicitly made for television, whereas all the others are just remixed versions of older books.

I had fond memories of the one where Getafix gets bumped by a menhir on the head and turns crazy.
I watched it again a few months ago in French and it really held up, be it because of its animation (especially the fucking scene where they try the potions the now crazy druid cooks up on the Roman spy) or its voice acting, which is pretty far from the shitshow we have nowadays.
A few things had really stuck to me, like the aforementionned potion tasting scene, the flying spy, the sometimes surreal music, or any scene involving food.

12 Tasks of Asterix is the best, but Asterix and Cleopatra is good, as is Asterix in Britain.

12 Tasks > The Big Fight > Asterix in Britain > Asterix and Cleopatra > Mansions of the Gods > Asterix in America > Asterix the Gaul = Asterix and Caesar > Asterix and the Vikings > shit > the live action movies

How was the new cgi one?

The beat 'em up arcade is pretty fucking hard, you get a limited amount of continues.

Not fucking bad at all mate. Pretty funny, and it expanded upon the story pretty well. Give it a pirate, id say.

user have you been around my bookshelf? Because those two stories you posted are exactly the ones I own

Good job

Speaking of Asterix, and given that most people who even know of him aren't burgers, is there any translated or modified joke you're particularly happy about?
