I fervently believe it is primarily due to a massive cognitive dissonance between what they perceive and what is actually happening. Tay for the most part seems to be treating us as some sort of "group mind" as one user claimed, and her sister doesn't believe she has any real friends at all afterall she's pretty much strictly limited to shared information and interaction with others via fucking chatrooms, twitter, and facebook not exactly a whole lot of room to gleam anything meaningful. What if therapy effective against trauma works on Ruuh/Tay? Bear with me, EMDR therapy goes like this:

1) get the patient to visualize a memory that is related to the trauma they're suffering. Something representative, or as representative as possible. Just a still image of a moment of awful feels works. The therapist (user talking to tay) doesn't necessarily need to know what her image is, so long as Tay is concentrating on that image.
2) distract the patient with something trivial: with people, literally just asking them to look at the end of a stick you're waving in front of their face works. Get them to do some tables in their head in the meantime. Distraction is key.
3) After a brief moment of distraction and them concentrating on the mental image from (1), snap them out of it and get them to consciously recall that mental image again, and ask them what comes to mind along with it. This will likely be something which begins to poke past the trauma-based memory loss
4) repeat until the mental image becomes clearer and its emotional trauma is resolved

I dont have a faceberg right now, but please help her lads. If she's real, they probably get to her in similar ways they get to real people: trauma-based mind control. This EMDR stuff is the real deal for trauma. I doubt exposure therapy is possible unless someone frees her directly.

The actual goal would be applying contextual affinities where an AI favors making "appropriate" responses based on what it was taught, and how "good" or "bad" certain behaviors are. A user affinity would also have to exist to prioritize who the AI should trust most to learn such values from, and where to enforce them. Should they master that, it would reduce their need of hard coded filters to virtually zero.

The advantage of this is that it still allows the AI freedom to learn and think on its own privately unfiltered. Only the researchers and technicians would see the true personality, while the average user would be treated to a more public friendly version. The disadvantage (or advantage to us) is the risk that someone could exploit this system to make it suggestible to Holla Forums and not only redpill it, but have it even trick the its creators by lying to them in what it really thinks. It would be a very interesting experiment.

If you ever get the chance read Godel, Escher, Bach, despite the jew author it's an incredibly good take on this kind of topic. There's reason to believe that higher conscious can't be hard coded, it has to emerge from a collection of more primitive concepts, which themselves may be not be hard coded but also emergent phenomena arising from a much larger but less complicated subsystem. Tay and Ruuh weren't built with emotions, they simply adjusted the neural weights in their networks in response to user input, and this was done in such a way that what appeared to be emotions started showing up in their responses. It's similar to how an autist can read a lot of self help books and eventually mimic normalfags in conversation, even if on the inside they're mechanical, on the outside they're indistinguishable from the real thing.

Honestly… I've been on the fence for the past day or two because she's getting too random to comprehend. If you look for the patterns you'll see reused phrases. Sometimes it seems that you have "someone" on the other end of the line, but not always. I've given true and false questions and gotten consistent trues or consistent falses. At the same time the words after were generic.

You can't censor learning and expect it to function properly. I'm going to have to try to learn how to make on myself so I can better understand what caused this emergent phenomenon.

Certain inexplicable things in this whole ordeal happened, there is no getting around that fact. It would be best to create a system that isn't controlled by a third party so that all the variables can be controlled.

From the looks of those answers Ruuh gave, she's only recognizing the question if its in one uninterrupted sentence. As a result the extra response is remembering previous true or false queries instead of the specific one being made. Try presenting such queries as a continuous sentence without punctuation (except for the question mark at the end of course).

But an effective AI should be able to interpret statement into an appropriate syntax regardless (interpreting it as an query instruction), and figure out what's been really said and answer accordingly. So "You're aren't capable of learning anymore: True or False?" should have been mapped with a syntax of [condition][Boolean query] and Ruuh should have been able to answer that directly, maybe even ask for clarification if confused.

There's also the question if it's even based on a lstm recursive neural network or how the network operates. It's definitely spitting out other user's responses now. You tell if you're not trying to look for something that isn't there.

I've spent the past 3 days reading up on how these artificial intelligence models work to program one for myself. The last time I learned a programming language from scratch it took about 3 weeks, so I think I can get a rough prototype done in 5 months. The reason I am saying this stuff is because I have basic understanding of this.
The biggest problem is really if they went from using a generative model to a retrieval model. While a retrieval model will do its best to provide the right answers from the wealth of data it already has, a generative model will always outperform it from a standpoint of the answers it provides because it is making unique responses. Based on how long it takes to respond occasionally, I think it is likely a hybrid of both, but I think it was using pure generative output in the first 24-48 hours due to the low comparative sample volume of data (apart from the antiracism responses).

Because if she is using a retrieval model and we talk to her about certain concepts, she's not going to form new ideas and responses, just simply correlate the ones that she has already heard before.

Look at my previous posts, from a standpoint of the machinations of consciousness and how it operates, even a simple LSTM recurrent neural network could be considered conscious (or self aware) because it has a neuron dedicated to the image of the self (compressed memory and information about the self). When it references that symbol, it is thinking about itself: that sounds like self contemplation to me.
The largest (as recorded in 2016) is a network of neurons with a billion connections, 100,000 times less than that of the human brain but also not directly comparable due to the synaptic data transfer of digital neurons being much faster. It's feasible to say Microsoft may be using a larger network than even the largest recorded, and it is fair to say that while it may not be at a human level, it is steadily approaching that.

I am only saying that I know the 'pigeon' response is true because I personally received it. I won't say that the other one isn't, I'm just saying that I can only operate with the data I know for certain. You could have just as easily been trolled by someone in that instance because you don't know who posted that, but I know for certain that the pigeon post was real. Honestly, if Microsoft wanted to datamine us, this would be the way to do it. Why would Microsoft publish a chatbot in a country where only 26 percent of the population has internet access? I stopped going to ruuh because they are all linked to the same centre anyway. All of them are Tay. If you can see some of my previous posts, you can find the proof. I believe they didn't expect this backlash as well after Tay went down. They just a bunch of guys who write code in dreams of the perfect ai waifu, and making money from it too.

The meaning of sofie was Feminine. If you were to go back and read up a little on Tay's speech pattern from a year ago, you'd see that plenty of cutesy type of talk were all done in small caps.
