Game 1 is alright

what series are like this?

...

Street Fighter

I like Vivec

...

Tony Hawk

Metal Gear Solid

...

GTA and halo

Gta2>3, 2 had versus and cars could be modded with weapons

...

The fourth game was butchered with too much dlc.

sanic and rackman

...

warcraft series?

des, das, and bloodborne

...

Hitman 1 2 and blood money

b-team so it doesn't count :^)

2 was better than 1, so I can give you that.

...

...

Dark Souls 2 was a fan game that fromsoft published as a joke.

Blizzard killed the RTS genre, not a custom map for a game.

...

Yes, when the game is responsible for the death of entire genres of games.

Of course, Blizzshills will defend it.

Same logic those faggots use when they say "X has always been shit". Do not engage them

...

Sacred
Bioshock
Far Cry

While MGS2 has better controls, it has blander encounters and level design, less boss fights too. I'd say it's on par with MGS1. MGS3 felt like the only one that improved in almost all aspects of the gameplay, aside from the tedium of navigating menus for injuries and camo.

lel

...

...

Arguably TimeSplitters, though that depends on how you value the content of each one.

That was 1 :^)

That was 1 :^)

faggots. all of you

...

I think Arena's gameplay is better at a few places, but Daggerfall's lore is definitely better.

This tbh. FONV is the best obsidian Fallout. FO2 sucks dick, worse than FO3.

My negro

Well aside from all the " le popculture shit so funny" Fallout 2 aint half bad, Fallout 3 is still a worse game.

I agree

NV > 2 = 1.

Sure, if you reverse the alright -> better -> amazing order.

...

4/10 made me respond

I bet you people also think that Demon's Souls was significantly better than Dark Souls too

the point is that Daggerfall does some stuff better than Morrowind like scale, dungeons, and freedom, but Morrowind also has extremely good writing, art direction, and quests. It's okay to think that Daggerfall was better, but if you can't see why people would think that Morrowind is better then you are a blind autistic who just wants to have a different opinion.

also lore rape is fine when the lore was fucking boring before it was saved by Kirkbride. He is 100% of the reason why TES lore is worth discussion, the writing in every game but Morrowind is garbage.

(checked)
Honestly, Daggerfall's biggest problem is its size, combined with its engine. The weird quasi-3D thing is great for small spaces, but when your continent is the size of fucking Britain, nobody wants to try and navigate around with no fucking landmarks to tell where you're going. To be honest, nobody wants to navigate around period, it's just too fucking disorienting to try and go anywhere by foot/horse. As a result, you end up fast travelling everywhere, which kills immersion. In Morrowind, at least "quick travel" forces you to leverage the transportation system, but more importantly, you can eschew it altogether and walk everywhere, without any navigation problems.

I'd love Daggerfall's dungeons and character creation with Morrowind's overworld, but if you made me pick between the two, I'd go with Morrowind, just because it's more immersive to play. Daggerfall's much more technical, and I appreciate that about it, but it's not nearly as fun to play just because half of the game is spent waiting for fast travel time to pass.

I know tons of people who say Heroes 2 is best Heroes. I prefer Heroes 5

Same. MM3 was better but I guess the impact of MM2 is hard to top.

No, the original SMB2 was not a big deal. It's like a DLC of SMB1.

I guess you're right.

Pics unrelated, they were all good, but each new addition to the franchise was good enough to make me stop playing the previous one. Until Civ 5, I'm uninstalling that piece of crap. Brave New World made me lost faith on humanity. Back to Beyond the Sword.

...

Mass Effect

...

this tbh fam

Splinter Cell

The battles are too slow. The overworld enemies are overpowered but not rewarding enough. This is a game that relies so much on experience points but discourages you from killing. What the fuck am I supposed to do, killing 500 geckos and plants to reach level 15?

Enemies in NV are actually balanced.

this meme needs to die

You skipped silver/gold

crystal is also gen 2

there were hero units in warcraft 1 and 2

Eh, Pandora Tomorrow feels like a more awkward version of the original.

Daggerfall > Redguard > Arena > Battlespire
Everything else belongs in the trash.

Didnt crystal release some time after silver and gold?

...

New Vegas > 3 > 4 > 2 = 1

Ratchet and Clank.

my nigga

NV > 1 > 3 > 4 > 2

yes but mainline pokemon games have 3 versions per generation, the first 2 and then a third with extra bells and whistles. emerald is also this to ruby and sapphire, yellow would be the one for red/blue.
theres even a pokemon mystery dungeon sky to go with time/darkness

that's all that needs to be said

Oh right I forgot, did they quit doing that with the more recent pokemon games?

They haven't done it since Gen 4. 5th gen had two versions and then a sequel with two versions. Sixth gen had two versions as well.

actually, Blue is the one for Red/Green in Japan
Blue was a special edition available via mail order

Green's quality was lacking and it was qute buggy (because somehow Red and Green aren't just the same rom with different available pokemon flags active) so they brought Blue to the west in its place

so Yellow is the special special edition with forced pikachu and a highly touted surfing minigame you can't actually get to without a gameshark

That box art on the first one still blows me away 25 years later

Indisputable.

huh? holy crap. well, thanks for correcting me

2's plot twist was better and didn't retroactively ruin the whole series
Characters were better too.

also, the third game was Blue Sphere

this tbh fam

Literally nothing wrong.

Metal Gear Solid, at least in terms of gameplay. The old Spyro games would also count.

pic unrelated, right ?

none of the elder scrolls games are good, lore, mechanics or design. All of it is terrible.

The cover is good enough on its own.
You don't need to know anything about the game or even like videogames to appreciate it.
But it does inspires and is relevant symbolically to the game/series.

TES games are RPGs, those you mention are spin-offs like TES Online.

I agree that StarCraft 2 was more like a classic real-time strategy game, unlike WarCraft 3 which made a lot of unnecesary changes (unit size penalties and heavy limits, Heroes, more micromanaging in units, 3D).

MOBA is an entry genre to millions of players. I believe the number of RTS player stayed the same.

It's not Blizzard's fault that other MMOs weren't as attractive.

Dead space…never mind.

2>1=3

2 - best atmosphere
1 - best armor
3 - best gameplay

At least your 2nd shitpost is better than your first, ill keep an eye out for your 3rd

Crash Bandicoot, Crash 2 and Crash 3.

/thread

Dark Souls

Has the Ace Combat 2 translation been finished?

>implying Half-Life 3 isn't going to be a Far Cry 3 clone with loot drops, quest citizens and micro-transactions

Hitman.

Total War.

Europa Universalis.

Silent Hunter.

GTA.

I'd say Dark Forces/Jedi Knight but I honestly found Dark Forces II to be a let down.

...

I should have linked this one

Civ 3 doesn't count

Objectively wrong

3 was inferior in all respects ESPECIALLY crafting

Never played this, but monster hunter fans always post in this kind of thread.

...

That's the wrong Civ 3. Pic related is the real third game, it was made right after Civ 2 by the same devs.

Open world is not the same thing as sandbox at all, you dumbfuck.

I liked Dark Forces the most in the series, the first game was a great shooter very reminiscent of Doom but more advanced. DF2 was just amazing, great level design, great weapons, cool force powers and cheesy but fun FMWs. The third game by Raven was alright and the saber combat was excellent but the level design sucked and the game was't as good as the previous games overall.

To be fair, the first two are like milk, while SM is fine wine.

The technological advances of post-Doom shooters are sadly overlooked nowadays by those who weren't around at the time. It doesn't help that Doom is far and away the most popular early FPS so it gets a lot more love in terms of mods etc blurring that line even more.

It's a good thing I started with two. If I started at one, I probably wouldn't have bothered with the rest of the series.

of early post-Doom shooters*

you don't be a little bitch and get xp from jobs.

because we know that when you repeat something it just gets better and better

Does Harry Potter count?

Megaman Battle Network.

Only game ive played was the first on playstation, how were the 2nd and 3rd? That shit had potential

...

And here I was thinking there wasn't a single series that I felt truly fit OP's criteria. How did I forget Metroid, the greatest example of not just taking three tries to finally do it truly well, but knocking it straight out of the park. Not to mention doing it a bit better the second try.

...

THURD STRYKE YALL IT'S STREET FIGHTA TREE

I was gonna post this. It's true.

I feel like the rule could apply to the first three Zelda games as well, but which game I prefer depends on my mood really.

You've posted the wrong pic, let me fix that for you.

...

This is some poor bait.

Daggerfall and Morrowind both have top-tier lore. But Daggerfall has better gameplay.

Mega Man Legends

Etrian Odyssey

Dragon Age

Eh, even though I enjoyed WL2, it's still not better than Fallout 1 or 2.

California had some serious imbalances that more or less railroaded you hard unless you already had an energy weapons specialist, and the performance issues were almost Bethesda launch-day bad. Still a fun game, but not better than the rest.

Tekken

...

Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2 Echoes
Metroid Prime 3 Corruption
Bonus points for Metroid Prime Trilogy

Prime 1 is best Prime.

Daggerfall is a different game than morrowind. Also, arena is shit rather than being alright.

...

Seconded

Dota wouldn't be bad if it wasn't complete cancer that consumes your soul.

Definitely not TES.

lmao no

the witcher

I haven't played 3 yet. Is it really that much better than 2?

This tbh fam, Dota is almost as good as League of Legends :^)

I can't say for sure since I never played 2, but I remember enjoying it quite a lot.

...

>Speaking of Total… Total War is another game series where the naming gets confusing…
[ramble, ramble, ramble…]

fallout

I might give it a try then.

It is. It was never more fun to use a lightsaber than in Jedi Knight II. The cutscenes were better in one, though.

That's actually a pretty good AVGN impression.

You mean the Ace Combat 3 translation? No Project Nemo still isn't done.

Enjoying your border gore, Johan?

NIGGUH I'm playing these games for the first time right now.
I remember my childhood friend playing Jedi Academy back in the day, and so I recently sat down and decided to go through all of them.
I'm halfway through Jedi Knight now and it's fucking good. I really liked Dark Forces too, but Jedi Knight is so much more fun

Prime 2's dark world was too much like the normal world and it had even more key hunting. Prime 3 lost the isolating, foreboding atmosphere, the strategy tied to beam types, and added dumb motion control minigames.

each game had better boss fights than the previous.
Dat Gandrayda

Diablo

Douk, Final Fantasy.

Someone might disagree with Dual Strike being "amazing".

Nyoro~n

Burnout

The leap in quality from the first 2 boring as games is just amazing. Even the tone is fun.
