DF's map is procedural generated with a tiny bit of codes put in them to make the important things like towns and important NPC's look static. Any modern engine can handle it, even gamemaker.

That's not what ENB is, ENB is more like a post post process shader system, which is why it's so inefficient, what they are doing literally no-one knows, they showed a better flow shader for the Skyrim gamejam in 20 fucking, 11 the textures in the game actually have parralax in one of the channels, from what they have shown this is still not implemented, the characters actually have a map for faked SSS and they aren't even pushing out a proper version of that.

Ideally they would have removed animation and skill limits from the CK to open up modding, ported Fallout 4 male and female base meshes into Skyrim with the 3 way body morph instead of Skyrim's shit 2 way body morph and the more advanced face morph options on top of the superior textures/facial animations/decal system. They would have fixed soft body sim for Skyrim and added it to some of the outfits so we could have flowing capes/bouncing tits without HDT which is ineffiicent and unstable. Lastly they would have changed the renderer to go full PBR and updated the games assets to support this. This would make Skyrim HDT similar to Fallout 4 visually.

At least they fixed the horrible colour grading.

Logically, it's being moved to the Fallout 4 version of the engine. That version of the engine has a lot more features and is on DirectX fucking 11 instead of 2004's fucking godawful DX9 bullshit.

Well, I did have to fight through hours of CTDs and crashes in Skyrim, I haven't even looked at Fallout 4. Given the circumstances, I'm not so sure we should give Beth much benefit of the doubt.

The Bethesda games are actually decent, it's just that they rush them out the door instead of playtesting them with a larger audience than the guys who made it and don't actively seek out bugs.

Playtesters can't fix the games though, even after 2 years of patches unofficial patches still fix glaring bugs in the game, bugs that have been known but not fixed since early on in the games release. Even then Beth games are flawed in all the ways that matter and Beth have not been doing a single thing to fix this, in the 10 years since Oblivion's release they've only piled on more features but they never consider how these features effect the gameplay rather than just being another distraction to pad out the games list of content.

Combat is still shallow
Every character is still boring
The story is still a joke and many plot points still make no sense and many of the characters have weak as fuck motivations for their actions
Character development systems are still weak as shit, Stats,Skills and Perks won't fix this, it's poorly balanced and catered to someone who doesn't want to focus their character or try and make a character who is interesting or even consistent.
Interaction with other characters is weak and very limited.
The world still feels barren, and not in the right ways, towns are almost completely dead and in spite of newer better features between titles this hasn't gotten better.
Level design has both improved and stagnated, small features within dungeons have improved and dungeon tilesets and doodads that make dungeons feel like dungeons has improved drastically, but actually dungeon layouts and enemy placement is still poor.

In every way that actually matters Bethesda still falters, but the lowest common denominator ensures these games will still sell.

It's all about cultivating a dichotomy between creators and consumers. They're laying the foundation for the "consumer" base down in the form of console kiddies who cannot make their own mods. Now they just have to cultivate a creator market. Most of the current mod authors aren't going to stand for that shit… not at first anyhow. If they can burn out the current crop of mod authors and salt the fucking earth, then plenty of new mod authors who are more than willing to sell their mods for a profit will trickle in to fill the demand of these brainless pubescent consumers.

There will be no more sharing of assets. No more helping newbies out to fix their mods, or add new features or do voices. Not without adequate compensation, anyhow. It's all going to be monetized, locked down, and competitive. Just like a real marketplace.

All the changes are cosmetic and 64 bit different change the assets. SKESE will break for sure but there is no reason actual content mods have to break at all unless they want them to.

Oblivion is aeful compared to Morrowind. I can actually cope with Skyrim. And let's not even talk about FO4 and FO3. Betgesda's games are not decent. Stalker is better at doing a post apocalyptoc setting. And Morrowind is a better rpg with a lot more interesting quests.

STAlKER is so short compared to FO and the level design isn't as good as well. There's almost nothing to do outside the main quest in all CTANK3P games. Clear Sky has faction wars, but it was the worst game in the series. I spent at leat 50% of CoP farming artifacts. I'd rather explore the colorful buildings of FO4 finding stuff than farm artifacts.

How much of your time in FO4 is spent where you don't shoot raiders or super mutants? Now how much of the time you spent during most of the quests where you weren't having your hand hold every moment throughout the quest? Have the settlements brought in any relevancy or were they simply a static building set where you sometimes got a small raider attack? Stalker's formula is more traditional in a sense. Talk to some NPCs, get a few sidequests to get some ammo and gear while you tread onward to the main quest. The levels are fairly big and follow a Postal 2 type level setting. Everything is miserable and irradiated, as you'd expect from the place. There are bizarre anomalies that keep you on your toes. The guns are based on actual weapons and feel pretty great to use. The upgrades, while simple, provide a decent change in gunplay. And the story is more engaging than something that wants to act deep without enough focus or backstory to go along with it. Do you really feel that much emotional connection with Dogmeat, your stupid son, the Brotherhood or the Railroad? A first person RPG is not usually a great idea. Very few games can pull it off well. If it's a first person shooter RPG, it'll get much worse. That's why Fallout New Vegas gets a lot of praise. Interesting perks. Very very fun weapons. Quests and sidequests that give much more interesting results. Factions that are more interesting. Characters that actually matter in some way. Stalker itself focuses on the atmosphere, gun play and the overall story. It's not too traditional in an RPG sense but it handles everything that Fallout 3 and 4 handle with a lot more care.

Actually there are a few cases where the mod community has been able to make a game formerly 32bit support 64bit or run in a higher DX. Off the top of my head, Crysis, a stalled Sims 3 wrapper and Deusx.

Support is a big aspect. Two binaries means twice the support headache. Usually they'll just ship 32-bit, and nowadays 64-bit only is coming up in some cases. It's uncommon to have both, but it does happen from time to time (Crysis et al).

I would actually like this. The two games I relentlessly played on PC as a kid were Daggerfall and Albion.

A 64bit version.

All AAA games are 64 bit at this point, even a lot of indie games are 64 bit, it's something like 99% of PCs that people game on are 64 bit hardware with another 15% strangely enough being a 32 bit OS. I think anyone releasing in 32 bit deserves to be taken out back or shot, they need to stop enabling people who still use 32 bit OS for anything other than hobbyist purposes.


Is this actually confirmed, I mean there's a certain level of confidence that it will be 64 bit based on the fact that Xbox One and PS4 are 64 bit, and I'm sure they'd rather build for 64 bit entirely.

I don't have a way to corroborate those numbers but they sound about right. Even some years ago the Steam hardware survey put 64-bit adoption at somewhere around 95%, even considering the inherent bias of Steam user hardware.

Still, though, new projects would have a better time than existing ones or ones built on older libraries and tech. Epic, for example, can rebuild their engine from the ground up and just dogfood everything, so they can make their whole ecosystem 64-bit native. If you're relying on license middleware though, you have to hope that they support 64-bit and that the supprot doesn't blow.

If they succesfully push paid mods, TES modding from skyrim and beyond will be fucked, and probably any new game in general too.
On the flip side that would mean a revival of Oblivion and Morrowind modding, but Oblivion is hell on earth to mod correctly, and Morrowind's modding community is very different from Skyrim's (Not to say OpenMW will herald a new age of morrowind modding, and even whole new games using the OpenMW engine)

The majority of people don't have Legendary OR all the DLC, this is a kike move because retards will now either buy aforementioned stuff or pay for the upgrade. What is the upgrade? A few new shaders, uncompressed textures, ugly as sin effects hacked into an outdated engine, all in all a few weeks of work for 4-5 people at best. You could get much better in 10 minutes with mods, but this special edition will probably break most of them anyway (pure coincidence I'm sure).

Come on, the world design in STALKER are boring. Once the enemy are all taken out, there's literally nothing there. The open world is devoid of anything. No, I don't play Beth Fallout for the story. I play it for the good open world design. STALKER is lacking at world design, making trips between missions insufferable. The open world feels empty, especially in Call of Pripyat, and the buildings are all half assed designed. It's more realistic, but as a video game the exploration of STALKER is pretty boring.

So we have no idea what they will do with it or how it will work.

And it is not looking good.
Giving it for free seems like attempt at asking people to develop mods for it.
Making it separate seems like attempt at damage control from all advanced mods stopping working.

Do you not understand me? The terrains and objects in Daggerfall are randomly generated. Towns don't stay static like in modern games, they might retain their shape but they're generated and spawned only when the player is at the specific location.

That's because, as shit as Skyrim is, it actually has some degree of soul to it. And mods, of course. Fallout 4 was one of the blandest wastes of potential to be released in years.

Fucking Oblivion has more "soul" than Skyrim does.

FO4 has more soul than Skyrim. The world is actually fun and rewarding to explore, unlike Skyrim's bland world and pointless dungeons.

NV is so far above, it may very well not be compared at all

New Vegas has some of the worst dungeon design I've ever seen. While Skyrim's dungeon is way too linear, FO4 is nothing but a bunch of overly complicated samey looking maze-like tight corridors that make your map absolutely useless. The geography is pretty fucking shit too. The hills are full of invisible walls.

NV is a great game, but it's level design is a clusterfuck. That's fine though, they didn't have much time to complete the game.

Not a bad concept, although I thought the ones from the first couple games had a much more prominent human torso, which made the nickname make sense.

NV had many problems, but I got the same "feeling" as I did from the first two games. Its subjective, but I really liked it. The pre-war stuff from 1, 2, and NV always seemed a little more grounded then in 3 or 4, and the world sfelt more like people were trying to build a livable civilization before you showed up and would continue to do so afterward.

They see PC users as part of their production line. It's twisted as fuck. And based on how Fallout 4's console mods went, a lot of mod authors don't want to deal with it. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bethesda modding community shrinks considerably in the next few years, console users appear to be fucking virulent to the sense of community and spirit of modding.

The quests are superior, the character interaction is superior, the world building is superior, but I'm talking purely from level design perspective. Here's a comparison between FO4's map, FO3's map, Doom at level 11, and New Vegas' map. FO4 and FO3 have a fair share of corridors and large halls. They're simple and memorable, but not linear and still encourages exploring, reminds me of Doom 1. In NV, it's just boring and confusing corridors.

If only Bethesda actually had anything cool to do in their levels.

The predator to prey ratio among the people going on in FO4 is absolutely absurd. No more than 10~20% of the population should realistically be depicted as preying on the 80~90% of producers. You've also got fucking monsters to worry about too.

At least in New Vegas, you had a whole huge developed fucking nation that was shipping in caravans full of food and supplies for the raiders to hit and take supplies from to keep their numbers sustainable. There's just… nothing in FO4. They're just there to be there to shoot at you so you can shoot back.

It has. FO4 is an open world shooter game with Doom level design. Now, if only the player doesn't get too overpowered, it would be a more fun game.

It looks blurry as fuck. Definitely will not buy. Time to replay Morrowind, again.
