i'll be getting it to have fun with my neice with job simulator and just shoot random shit in H3VR. its an interesting technology, but just like the iphone, it'll only get better or have major inovation in the fourth version while new VR headsets like OpenVR or whatever will learn from the rift and vive and give you a complete DRM free experience for a lower price i think.

At least the Virtual Boy had first party titles at launch. Both Valve and Oculus are too cheap to do anything asides from tech demos themselves. The PS4 Neo and the new Xbone aren't being launched because the original models can't handle VR. They're being launched because they want every console owner to buy their VR headsets. But $400 is a lot of cash to drop, even if it's still cheaper than other headsets on the market.
So Sony and Microsoft are trying to sync up the lifespans of their headsets with the lifespans of their consoles. The 8th generation will actually start in earnest when both are released, which will probably occur at the same time. They don't want their customers to feel like they dropped $800 (half for the console, half for the headset), only to have the whole thing become obsolete in just a few years. Which means that this console generation will last for 5 to 7 years, starting from the simultaneous release of the upgraded consoles and the console VR headsets.

If that happens, by definition we lived in lost years, thus a "crash" happened
