It's vaporware. The dev is still making it, but at an absolutely glacial pace, and with most of their time devoted to retweeting shit on twitter.

I will be brutally honest, hipster though it is, MGSV reminded me how cool casette players used to be and looking back now minidiscs looked pretty cool to.

Funny thing is all the cute looking -but assuredly crazy as fuck- scene girls that frequent my local HMV still go into its grungy basement section to buy minidiscs for their mix tapes.

The only acceptable antiquated recording format for music is Vinyl, so long as you don't use digital means of recording and then put it on vinyl, because otherwise whats the fucking point

People who make actual mixtapes or vaporwave artists that put their stuff on casettes infuriate me, casettes were inferior to vinyl even when they were a new addition to the market, the audio quality was awful, the only thing they had going for them was portability.

Cassettes took over mostly for convenience, since you could easily record music onto them and pass it on to a friend so they could listen to it, or even distribute your own music.
I find it weird that we never replaced that with a digital equivalent like usb sticks or sd cards, especially given that they're even easier to copy music onto.
Most people seem to have just skipped right over that and gone over to stream playlists, not that I use them myself.

Casettes were the product of social marketing, they worked because your friends all had walkmans and traded tapes, Vinyl still beat them out for home audio systems for obvious reasons.

Usually they hand them out at concerts etc. It is a way for starting artists to spare some cash while market themselves because not everyone will ever find them online or whatever. And again, cheap ass when it comes to shipping in case someone wants something physical.

It's too bad blu-spec-CD's never took of in the west, it's basically CD with the dynamic range of a LP or blu-ray and way cheaper too.

That's what I mean, cassettes became popular because they were a cheap and easy way of sharing music, even though vinyl sound quality is superior.

That's only for physical releases anyway. Most small artists nowadays will just upload to bandcamp, soundcloud or whatever to get the music out there, and then sound quality isn't an issue.

Well he wrote and directed MGSV, which is among the shittiest in the franchise. The only shit part I don't think took part in was level design, so yeah, he IS the driving force behind the game. Have you ever seen a good movie with bad directing? Is such a thing even possible to notice?
