I've just started Hebijou in Shinovi after finishing up on Gessen. I'm not really feeling it with these new characters. Miyabi the edgehog is trying way too hard to be cool, and the only thing in Imu's head seems to be 'I want to fuck Miyabi so bad".

That is pretty much Imu's entire character. She gets a bit of extra character with Murasaki, but not much. New Hebijo is the worst story in SV. It's edgy to the max and just involves killing all the other characters.

That's what bugged me! I actually thought the ending was just going to kill everyone because the natural evolution of their story was to turn on each other after they'd killed everyone else. The New Hebi story is where SV's story started getting good, in my opinion (Crimson just built on that). In Hanzo/Gessen the whole good/evil dichotomy doesn't make any fucking sense and it just feels like Kurokage did nothing wrong. Yeah, Homu's squad doesn't seem that bad and didn't seem bad in Burst but they're renegades, not actual evil shinobi. Once it's explained that the whole good shinobi vs. evil shinobi conflict is a sham and the yoma are the real threat, the setting feels a lot less retarded.

Well, Negima was originally not going to be harem shit. The author wanted to do a shonen battle series, but he had gotten famous with harem shit, and his publisher demanded more harem shit. The author agreed, but did a 180 and switched Negima to the shonen battle series he had always wanted after a few volumes had people hooked on harem shit. That's why the tournament arc kind of feels like it comes out of left field. I'll bet his publisher was pissed until the series still kept selling like hotcakes.

Both of those routes are basically Yumi learning that the distinction between good and evil isn't as cut and dry as Kurokage taught them it was, and even Kurokage himself realized that and felt bad for raising the girls with such a black and white mentality. That's why Kurokage had Hanzou take over as Gessen's teacher when his health started failing.
Hanzou canonically goes on to abuse his position as Wanpai sensei by getting the Gessen girls to go to a resort spa so he could fondle them in the communal bath in SV's drama CDs.

I mean, it was implied that he was going to pass away, since the ending said he used all his strength to see his granddaughter. Beyond that, I don't think it really matters who wins since it's designed around being goofy, too. Like Carnival Phantasm is for Type-Moon works.

You're thinking in the wrong direction - she's speaking English, but the foreignization changed it to French to convey the "she's speaking a foreign language" aspect.

The 3DS games are fast-paced side-scrolling beat 'em ups, the Vita games are Musou style 3D beat 'em ups. If you like those genres the games are pretty good.

Why can't gaijin speak Japanese? Most people stumble over something so simple as Ryu and give up entirely if they see any word containing four syllables.

There's a lot of vocalizations we use in English that they don't. The "vowel" sounds they make are "ah" "ee" "oo" "eh" and "oh" so things like "aa" or "uh" are not part of their speech, to say nothing of things like "th" or the sounds of R and L. It's not impossible for them to learn to pronounce properly of course, but these are sounds they simply don't naturally make in their language, and so if they only start picking up a word or two in English later on in life, it's going to be really fucking hard to make those noises.

Then people couldn't read it. A jap player would know the letters even if they didn't know the words.

I haven't played Estival yet, but I'm going to presume the text is in Japanese, and this is from a foreignization of the game.

Japanese can be transcribed in English, user.

What I'm saying is, instead of having Shiki speak French suddenly (A language choice that seems just random), make her speak Japanese as the go-to foreign language. It's a switcharound that would make a little more sense, given that the original is her going from Japanese to English.

I think you're out of luck user, unless a different crack comes out which allows for said matching, don't quite remember the specifics, but 3DM releases aren't actually "cracks". Can't say that it will happen though, as the online features are not the selling point.

Ryobi starts off on a similar note, but the unlockable parts of her combos redeem her for the most part bear in mind that this is true for a lot of girls, make sure to check out what they unlock with a few levels

The state of English education in Japan isn't great, considering it's in large part a "blind leading the blind" deal. They've tried to get more native speakers into the country to fix the problem, but supply and demand means their standards aren't exactly high. That said, Yukari is portrayed as being actually competent at English, and while she likely still has a Japanese accent (the manga just has their conversation portrayed as ペラペラ, a word used to describe language skills as fluent) she is still able to comfortably and confidently speak with an English speaking foreigner.

Difficulty never helped increase damage needed to kill enemies for me. I was stomping everything before even getting the first stage of clothe ripping in some cases.

The fucking awful level design, the fact that the landmaster and arwing became basically the same vehicle, the fact that the gyrowing was made completely useless as soon as they forced the walker to be able to hack, and the fact that despite using 2 sticks, the x-axis on both of these sticks moves you in the same direction in walker mode, regardless of lock on. The arwing levels were fine, using the walker felt a little underappreciated and stick movement sucked but it wasn't game ruining. The final boss was a fucking joke, the forced use of 2 screens and having one screen taken away from you at least once every mission, and the gyrowing are my biggest complaints about the game.
