He's talking about putting something in PC mods so they can't be ported to console without breaking saves. That's already happening, just because some mods work like that naturally. Making other mods do that should be as easy as having the mod do something, anything, with the Fallout 4 Script Extender's functions.

Bethesda's "curation" will be a terribly implemented clusterfuck, just like everything else they produce, but all that would do is prevent console-save-breaking mods from being downloadable by consoles in the future. It won't fix the save-breaking that's already happened or make the mod functional on consoles.

Why bother? Bethesda and Microsoft have pretty much already guaranteed that console mods are going to be bug-ridden, unoptimized, untestable, unfixable, nightmares. And to top it off, FO4 uses papyrus, which saves script fragments to the save file - so a fucked up mod will continue to fuck up your game and conflict with other mods long after you've uninstalled it.

Anyone who's even vaguely familiar with mods on the PC knows that you never install new mods to your main save files. You always keep a test save, and then use the developer console to stress test the mod. And even then, eventually, you'll probably still end up with save bloat and corruption. Nuke the install, and start from scratch.

Console peasants can't even generate a fucking papyrus log to help track down where the problem is. Mod A, Mod B, and Mod C might work well together, but introduce Mod D and suddenly you'll get conflicts between Mods B and C. Yet they're just going to bitch and complain to the author of Mod D and demand he fix it, when he can't even attempt to reproduce the error since there's no logs, no load-order list, and he doesn't have an Xbone.
