Aryans invented agriculture, farming and engineering. Not sure what an "agronomist" is tho. I'm just here to bump the thread :^)

Here's a bump from a dropout sylviculturist.

Not a farmer, but I worked as a hired hand on a farm when I was younger. Here's to all of you who aren't reading this thread right now because you're out there working.

Is there a handy "smarter than a Zimbabwe nigger, but still a dummy" guide to small patio farming?

hort tech in training here, mostly work with tropicals though as a plant propagation specialist.
pic related is my setup and a few of my orchids.

Lots of racial loyalty for a hired hand.

Funnily enough today is also international downs syndrome day.

I do like gardening though, some hailstones destroyed my tulips yesterday. :(

That's pretty cool, user. Keep doing what you're doing.

There was a time we had antique farm equipment. Worst mistake we ever made was bringing them in to begin with.

Or perhapsh I'm wondering why someone would root a plant before throwing it into the grain.

Getting a PhD in plant genetics/breeding, so I think I count.

Agronomy is basically agricultural economics. It combines agricultural practice, pest and weed management the correct application of pesticides and fertilisers.

Agronomists generally act as consultants for farmers. Though a lot work for pesticide companies and their job is to recommend/advertise products.

Nice slipper orchids.

Botanist/farmer here. If you dig orchids, look into doing tissue culture at a home scale, jewgle kitchen culture iirc for decent instructions. Doesn't take much more than a fairly sterile area (like a homemade glovebox) and a few chemicals, you can grow thousands and get your own hybrids if you choose to hand pollinate and flask the seeds.

"Cultivators of the earth are the most valuable citizens. They are the most vigorous, the most independent, the most virtuous, and they are tied to their country and wedded to its liberty and interests by the most lasting bonds. As long, therefore, as they can find employment in this line, I would not convert them into mariners, artisans, or anything else." –Thomas Jefferson

WE WUZ FARMERSNSHIIEET

Farmer master race reporting in. Thousands of pounds of seed stored for the reckoning.
p.s. - not all of WA is pozz'd, just the big cities

Layman speech term could be agricultural management.

tfw you look up the agricultural revolution to recall whether it was Indus valley or fertile crescent that was credited with the landmark and you see Jared Diamond listed as a valid citation, bitching about gender inequality and implying that hunter-gathers were sexually egalitarian in regards to gender-roles and this Bachofenian paradise was disrupted by the domestication of the animal/plant kingdom

I sold my penthouse in New York and bought a small farm in the countryside. My wife didn't like it at first, but she got used to it.

What are you growing/raising?

Forestry undergrad here.
Surrounded by people who think banning plastic bags will have a bigger impact than the end of the subsidized third world.

economics applied to agriculture, mostly used for larger operations regarding bio-contamination, shipping lines, technological integration on the farmland, etc.

Poultry, peppers, beans, and apples.

At least I have enough room for a couple of raised bed gardens

You're not good @ memes.

Really makes me think.

inb4 deleted for presenting a book cover

Backyard garden enthusiast. The snow has melted from the March blizzard that hit the Midwest and North East and I think its time to transplant my starts outdoors. Blood and soil!

Square foot gardening

"Trading can sometimes bring success, but it is insecure; so can money-lending, but that is not respectable. So our forefathers thought; and so they enacted that a thief should pay any penalty twice over, a money-lender four times over, which allows us to infer how much worse a citizen they thought a money-lender was than a thief. When they wanted to say that a man was good, their highest compliments were to call him ‘a good farmer and a good husbandman’. I believe that a trader may display bravery and skill in the course of trade, but, as I said above, it is insecure and liable to disaster. As to farmers, their offspring are the strongest men and bravest soldiers; their profit is truest, safest, least envied; their cast of mind is the least dishonest of any." –Cato the Elder

Everyone dies. It's part of life. Grow up and ride the shark faggot.

I'm an Electrical Engineering student, and my dream is to take me and my wife to a place where we are self sustaining in the country, at least 50 acres.
I'm already an avid garlic farmer, I'm getting to the point where I'm very good at it.

SERIOUSLY, How do I do this. I've been meming and dreaming about it it for years.

Start simple, pick out dwarf varieties that grow well in pots (victory seeds has a good selection of dwarf tomatoes), most importantly, make sure the pots are well drained.

Live as simply as possible and save as much money as possible back. Land prices are still high, and it's hard to find small plots that are reasonable. Were ever you go, remember water is the most important thing. Don't buy a property where you don't have easy access to water. Look at a map of the aquifers of the area you are thinking about.

I like the theory, but wouldn't it stagnate technological advancement?

You need to prepare for war, and in war the more technologically advanced wins.

Farmers are some of the forerunners in adopting new technology. Look at how much useful research gets done at the Ag Universities, as opposed to your average big city liberal arts place.
