Call me crazy, but I think the endgame of the likes of Zuckerberg, Bezos, Cook, Schmidt and Gates is to basically put everyone in giant cities that are more like filing cabinets, hook them up to an IV, plug them into VR and let them waste to nothing in their own virtual safe space. Kind of like the Matrix, but less retarded than the sequels.

That would be only good, as it would make us more connected to Technology, and less chained to the evil and filth of nature. Living in a planet-wide mega-city would be the best possible living environment on earth, with nothing but Civilization in all directions.

Exactly, though I wouldn't necessarily call consciousness a hallucination. It is a major step up from that. I might call it the "master hallucination", where when we hallucinate, it is a step down from that state. One might find some way to improve upon this design so that our minds more accurately model reality, refuting our inbuilt biases, and in so doing make ourselves into something akin to gods.

I view transhumanism as a tool, and the myriad of virtual worlds as new lands to be conquered. Those who don't wish to employ this new tool will be conquered by those who do. We can not allow our enemies to have exclusive control over it. Or preferably for them to have it at all.
