It's because this game brings out the worst kind of idiots who think this is a game where k/d matters more then the objective. Sure killing lots of people can help hold the line and push forward the advance, but at the end of the day if the objective isn't capped it'll be all for nothing. You can see that a lot of players use Infiltrators in big battles which is the worst class in the game since it's only benefit is to go hack terminals and turrets in fights. They can't hold the line since the game is built on human wave tactics and lack the ability to set up a proper defense or hold their own once the swarm comes in. They work better in smaller fights and would be beneficial if they could do ambushes on zergs in between bases to slow them down. (rip C-4 on infiltrators).

Depending on how fast you can get xp, how much you play, and what you're aiming to kit out, it can take you anywhere from a week to a month or two to cert a class fully.

HEAVY ASSAULT - GROUNDER

You can always use more medics. People sometimes mistake it, but medic is a frontline fighter just behind the HA. Your priority is always to fight, then heal and revive when needed.

You can earn 2-300 certs in a few good hours of playing. You also gain 100 certs per BR until level 15, so you'll have the essentials for medic by then and it's a matter of fluffing it out.

I would suggest putting every cert you get into the med applicator first since it heals/revives faster and with more health.
Then get the shield bubble, rez nades, everything else

In general if there is shit you can buy with a single cert, then you should buy it, meaning the first ammo upgrade and the 1.25x zoom on vehicles. For weapons just give everything a foregrip and a 1x zoom, the default shotgun with slugs is absolutely fucking fantastic, although for that I would recommend extended mags instead of foregrip due to it being a shotgun. C4, anti-vehicle mines and EMP are pretty fucking powerful on the other classes so I would recommend getting those.

Well every single thread whenever someone asks "what do" he's told to waste spend certs on engi/medic gear to make more certs.
You want to find the right infantry class and upgrade that one.

If you get killed or find that your team is lacking something, don't spend the 700 shekels you've been saving to solve that (ie: nobody's a medic and you impulse buy 4 ranks of the medigun).

After you're done with infantry and you have a class suited for different playstyles (A loadout for a long range/anti-air Heavy + a loadout for shotgun/cqc heavy, both with maxed shields and utility), you'll know what to do next.

If you follow the healslut advice, you'll find yourself fighting for revives and heals with the other 20 medics while the enemy sees a bunch of chucklefucks with their mediguns out aka easy kills. You have to measure the supply and demand of certain classes on your own.

For instance, if nothing but "go medic/engi" is said in the thread, expect to see a great supply of medics and engineers and you'll see that the demand (dead players wanting to be revived, damaged tanks or MAXes -guys in exosuits-) isn't as large as the demand for people actually shooting at others which is a role for the heavy, light assault or the MAX. Any additions to engineers/medics beyond what's needed will result in missed opportunities.

Same for everyone going infiltrator or heavy, as you see with the Vanu. Every dead soldier they can't revive because they're busy dickwaving their lasers and knives is wasted experience and tranu-power, and for that, we're grateful.

Last I checked, but barring any cert equipment, all classes except Infiltrator have the exact same amount of Health and Shield Points. Though I don't get why they finally gave the medic access to the one Battle Rifle and the Heavy Assault still doesn't get anything. At this point they should let Heavies get ARs and Medics get access to carbines

If it has the spawn logistics utility item it can. Now it's a spawn point for organized groups, instead of for everyone, which made 99% of the map redundant.

AMS Galaxies no longer exist, but you can still respawn at them; same as Valkyries with the Squad certification which enables both respawning and air drops.

Nothing really. You can use C4 as a medic.
Almost every class, including heavy assault, should be rolling with a fully certed out Medkit unless the situation calls for C4, anti-tank mines or any other specialist equipment.

It increases your longevity in the field. Trust me, they're more reliable than medics.

You should ALWAYS have c4 on you because if you see an ally slapping c4 on a friendly flashbike you do the same.

For engineer to max communication, I propose that if you give him 2 short repair bursts while he is fully healed, it means "go in and gas/shoot the vanu, I will be behind you for as long as I can." Oh, and dont fucking use max sprint unless the situation requires it. Calm and steady pumping bullets into your enemy does the job.

They're all pretty well balanced. Try them all out in VR and pick from preference. I personally like the T16 Rhino since it's got low recoil and high velocity, allowing me to engage from medium to long range with the weapon.

Test weapons and vehicles at the VR Traning and listen to people who have played longer than you have for advice on how to cert up. Remember, after level 15 the grind is real.

Realistically the veterans that are (very successfully) farming you have thousands of hours in the game and don't give a shit about the bases you take. The territory metagame is stale and pointless. The endgame for the best players is about lifetime stats – KD, IVI, KPH, and so on. We're playing a different game from you. In a way I suppose we're both winning.

I try to fight in smaller fights to sharpen my accuracy and positioning.

I play because I enjoy the gunplay and mechanics, and I like how open-ended the game is. Sometimes I like capturing territory, but mostly I'm playing just to shoot mans in the head.

I also have a lot of friends on the server that I like running into either on my team or on the enemy team (whichever faction I'm playing on at the time). PS2 is unique in that when you go to a base you never know who else will be there. Could be someone you like, could be someone you have a rivalry with, and so on. Can't get that as easily in other games.

I find self-improvement incredibly satisfying. I'm playing to get better, not necessarily just for stats. Stats are a reflection of getting better. If you're spending hundreds or thousands of hours doing something, don't you want to be getting better at it?

If you want to advance from braindead zergfit status to a scary midfit, you need to work on moving together as a platoon and setting up good spawns.

I saw you today at Chimney Rock. You had Sunderers deployed in some retarded spots. Across a road from the base where you were being destroyed by air on the open 50m stretch you had to cross to get to cover. In a cloaked bus behind the base such that you had to walk right past our spawn room to get to the point (I liked that one, lots of kills).

Gal drop a base all together, use spawn beacons, bring up some busses (or get an infiltrator to hack the vehicle terminal you're at and pull a bus from the base itself), put them in good spots, and your staying power will significantly improve.

After that it comes down to having good squad leaders and good shooters, which is a much longer process.

How about the thousands of hours you and everybody else wasted on everything? How good are a thousand hours in a gym anyway? Sure, you get buff, but so what? There are very few jobs where that is of any importance at all. Will you live longer? So many people who put so much time in the gym end up with substance abuse to look better and fuck their life up.
Learning a language can help a bit, but even then, in many cases it will not make you a more productive member of society.
I admit that there are some skills I would rather have learned than having played certain games, but few of them are to make me a productive member of society, most are to use on other fun hobby projects that would never benefit society.

We've been doing that, in my experience. Of course, not many people go infiltrator. Maybe I should start certing that up, since that's obviously a niche that needs to be filed.

Sure, and about 80% of the people here want to do that. But you should keep in mind that it is also very stressful to most people. And it can fail pretty damn hard, as many games have shown. Anything you set your mind to for 1000 hours you can become good at, the question is if its something fun with no end goal, is that time wasted? Perhaps it is. How do you value all these things anyway? Personal happiness is pretty much the only way. If you were reasonably happy playing those games you played, why the fuck not? Now, if you weren't happy with it, then why are you still doing it? If you measure by anything but personal happiness, results get very weird. How many 3d professionals have made more money than a faggot like pewdie pie? How many people knowing 7 languages have saved more lifes than a random person being at the right place at the right time?

But thats true for so many things. Knowing a second language can sometimes help for some shit, but playing planetside may also teach you skills that turn out to be useful.

Try to work with and learn from other outfits. On Emerald TR your best bet is probably 1TR. They have a lot of experience to offer for an outfit of your scale and can teach you how to handle a platoon better, where to put busses, what kinds of classes are useful in a squad (and how many), what loadouts to encourage people to use, and so on. These things make a huge difference.

Realistically any outfit, even ones like DA and AC, will let you play with them if you're not an asshat. The server is too small and we've all been playing for too long to limit ourselves to any style, faction, or group to play with.

I known a good number of people that did fuck at all in their life, went to college, fucked up but didn't care a single bit because they would be getting a job from their parents that would pay more than I could realistically hope to ever earn. Being able to work with a computer has for many proven to be much more valuable than knowing a second language. And things like planetside or other games might help you with that (although we are entering an era of games making you more ignorant once again, where in the past you would learn at least a bit about networking because you wanted to set up your own server, many games now have match making). A thousand hours in a game can very much bring you valuable skills. Especially if you want to make your own game. Being able to make all your 3d art and everything is very nice, but those things are for sale as well if you really need them, having an intricate understanding of game mechanics and how their influence their game will also be very important for the game you make, and in some ways, that is learned by playing games. We are not talking about shitty idea guys that say shit like "Wow but with permadeath", we are talking about actually understanding how stuff flows together, why shit works the way it does, and most of the time, that is only learned by playing a lot of games and very diverse games. Unless of course you are born lucky. Contrary to popular believe, its not impossible that you will never learn some skills or at least not to the extend that they ever get useful, putting a 1000 hours in anything is no guarantee.

People are making it a good choice to just use Platoon chat, and we're slowly working on the Chain of Command for squads.

Top most priority is the salt farming, but we'll see about gitting gud.

It's a bit harder than that. Plus the close range ones have to be sneaky as fuck since they're literally running with enemy troops all over the place hoping that none of them notice they're not part of their faction.

I'm just hoping we can figure out what to do about that whole choose which chat to talk in, since it seemed to be quite an issue while I was on. Also the grouping and clearify of getting people to one place needs to kinda be pushed as well. I haven't done platoon/squad leads that much, but it's nice to always have an updated waypoint for all of us to know where we should be going to.

I found the Reaver easier to learn than the Mosquito when I was first starting out, then learned the Mosquito later after I could reverse maneuver well etc. Zoran was never a great pilot. Look up rguitar or anyone from PREY.

You get 1500 very quickly since the first 15 levels give you 100 certs each.

Fairly fast enough, we got a couple of new guys to the game get to BR 10-14 in 3-4 hours of us doing shit.

you'll get 1500 certs by BR 15 and a chance to refund it all except if you bought crap for vehicles

And weapons you can't refund weapons either.
