Had a simliar stupid ideal last night. Here's the roadblocks.
They're not going to. This is PR suicide for them, from the angle of the SJW types that are going to come after them with a vengeance.
Feasible save two things
- If the idea comes from NISA, it's PR suicide again
- If this comes from the public, NISA will block it on grounds that they are the rights holders therefore it's infringing their right to publish and prepare for distribution.
They won't do it. Very likely, NIS has no idea how badly NISA's reputation has gotten. Regardless, NIS won't interfere with them on the public's behalf. Mostly because it's disrespectful as fuck to do so based of a small amount of voices raising a non-structured protest.
And yes, small amount. Most of the people viewing this thread (110 people) and any on reddit and any in various forums would have to raise a stink, set a goal, obtain a representative that gets the RESPECTFUL idea of what we want across…it's not going to happen. Not without some good planning, a few connections, and some serious dedication to cleaning up NISA's act, and using NISA's case as a standpoint to kick off a strong incentive for uncensored media.
And that in itself is a massive undertaking. NISA would be a stepping stone compared to the ugly monsters you'd have to take on after that fact. It's questionable how much stamina and capital you'd need to not get drowned in sheer bullshit litigation.
Even more difficult to do. You'd have to first get paperwork that displays NISA's sales, and then be able to dissect that info based on various consumer demographics. You'd have to have a control company report to compare those numbers to. And then a third and/or fourth company who regularly releases uncensored content or has altered their policies on editing and altering, and judge where the sales have taken them.
Nevermind the work and capital involved, it's flat-out illegal in the US last I glanced. Companies here are allowed to hide their earnings and individual sales numbers.
As an aside, it's laughable to think that NISA or any company products sold poorly, because ANY data displaying such is sheer speculation aside of some very expensive consumer report surveys that are not public, and Steamspy. The only other visible cue we have is if media reports on a host of firings and cutbacks. This is how we know that Bioware is in trouble, as well as Gearbox/2k.
I hate this shit, but that's the reality of where this stands. Without people willing to do the footwork, NISA will continue getting away with this.
