A waifubait is a character tailored for the player, not neccesarily any actual characters in the work itself, to have a romantic interest in. They tend to be an egregious version of any feminine archetype: tomboy, lol so quirky!1!, etc..

As actual characters they tend to be lacking in logic or depth. Look at something like Samus from other M. Her character is fucked, no longer having agency, and is defined by her vulnerability and mother/daughter complex.

Holy shit, is this actually what you believe? Fuck, I, cannot fucking understand how anyone could like Marie, to any degree, ever. She's a masterpiece of unlikable archetypes and interactions creating a black hole sucking in anything that could even resemble 'quality'

Marie's character design is shit. Visually she is a mess. She clashes with the motif set by the rest of the main cast, one of having a single main color to modify the school uniform, as well as the motif set by the velvet room attendants, one of simple blue and white. Instead, she wears this retarded mish-mash of reds, blues, yellows and neutrals, giving her ultimately no level of cohesion or grace. Her form of attire follows suit, neither a modification of the school uniform, nor attendant uniform, she wears an outfit best fitted for shit fetish doujin or deviant art self-insert.

Deviantart self-insert is a great term here, capable of describing her entire pantheon of shit attributes and actions into two words.

She's placed in as an addition to an already complete cast, placed into a role that is completely unnecessary. Had she been simply an optional social link, I would have no problem, just another shit character I can easily ignore. However, her mulitcolored cock is forcibly inserted into the player's throat throughout the main story, from the fucking beginning of the game. Should you be a good cock-sucker and deepthroat that skittles-colored dick by maxing out her s. link, you'll be rewarded with a nice juicy load of an optional dungeon. As someone who craves a new playable content when available, I was forced to bear through atlus's hand gripping the back of my head and shoving me towards the cock’s base, and let me say, the journey there only fueled my hatred of her.

Persona 4 certainly doesn't have the deepest character development, not by a long shot, but it has the decency to dangle the carrot of depth in front of the player, at least for the main cast. Rise has an interesting, but ultimately disappointing, character premise: that is to explore the sexuality of an idol, one of the most exposed and sought-after people in Japan, who are ultimately denied any level of sexual experience of any kind, or they face complete social outcast by the populace. Her dungeon and shadow matched this perfectly, by emphasizing her sexual desires to a comical degree. The actual development had and the end of her dungeon and social link is actually pretty lackluster. But the bits and pieces of interesting attributes kept me at least interested enough to follow through her entire story.
Each main cast member has that as the minimum (and maximum, I guess) for their character depth. And while there are those of the cast I certainly don't care for (Yukiko, Chie, etc.) I can, on some level, see the appeal.

Marie has none of that, her entire story and character arc can be assumed within the first 5 minutes of seeing her. She's a eccentric "Tsundere" who hides behind quirky mood-swings and sarcastic dialogue to hide her "true” of affection for the world, and of course, the protagonist.
She has not memories, so of course, she must be related to Izanami, which she is, and as such is a pseudo-god overpowering even Ameno-sagiri in power, even though she works under him.

And even beyond the fucking deviant art bullshit, she's a shit fucking Tsundere. I'm not even a fan of the fucking trope, but I can at least tell when one's fucking shit or not.
How I see, there are two kinds of Tsundere's the optomistic type and the realistic type.

The optimistic type of Tsundere "genuinely" dislikes the love interest due to circumstance, and as their relationship grows the tsunderes outbursts become due to misunderstandings and the general social incompetence of the protagonist, while romantically finding it endearing. By the end of the relationship the outbursts are just teasing the protagonist, therefore the Tsundere retains there initial attributes towards the love interest, but develops them in a realistic manner. Think of Videl from Dragonball as a good example of this. Gohan is clearly keeping a secret from everyone, and shares a clear resemblance to the "golden boy" stealing Videl's thunder in stopping crime. This gives Videl reason do suspect and initially dislike Gohan. When their relationship grows and Gohan starts training Videl to use ki, she still holds hostility, but understandibly, since Gohan is holding back and hiding the fact that he's a Saiyan. Her malace in her comments completely dissolves once she uinderstands the truth about Gohan, Cell, and the Saiyans.

In turn, the realistic Tsundere does genuinely hate the love interest, but must hide the fundamental sexual tension forced between the two's interaction. Asuka is THE example of this. Shinji is everything she could hate in a man, small in stature, weak both physically and emotionally, yet she is forced to work and live with him due to circumstance. As he is one of the only people around her age with a Y chromosome, she can't deny the unavoidable sexual tension she has with him, making her hate him and his failures progressively more. Her snide comments towards Shinji actual cut deep into him, as they cut into his incompetence both sexually and otherwise. The only way an actual relationship could spur between the two would be if Shinji actually got his shit together and stopped bitching out. This is what an actual relationship with a Tsundere would be like.

Marie is neither of these. She hates everyone because "Muh memories" and "muh secret past" and everyone just kind of puts up with it.She grows exceedingly attached to the protagonist but doesn't change her shitty fucking attitude at all. Until her stupid fucking dungeon is finished, she keeps saying the same retarded run-on insults to the protagonist, after which she makes a complete heel turn, capable of proclaiming her love to the protagonist publicly on the fucking TV. Fuck

Marie is a fucking mess of character, unable to maintain any consistency on a visual or emotional level. Her entire status as a character is epitomized by the ending of the P4 golden animation where Yu, instead of summoning Izanagi-no-Okami (which represents his social bonds with everyone in the cast, a theme present in bot P4 and P3) he summons Kaguya Hime, Marie's persona, representing the bond between Marie and Yu. Marie's forced fucking relationship with the protagonist is more fucking important than all of his other character relationships combined. Fuck Marie and fuck atlus for forcing down my fucking throat.
